My experience with this practice was exceptional. I have never visited a medical facility that was a caring and professional as this one. The staff is top notch and the medical doctor, Dr. Roberts is great. I had a bad cataract in my left eye.I orginally went to the John Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. HUGE MISTAKE! This place was nothing but an assembly line with the cattle call patient approach. Wait time was long and everyone was extremely rude, from the front desk to the doctors. I did schedule my surgery but on my drive home, I thought, Do I really want to have surgery in this type of enviroment??? I called the next day and cancelled. This place is all about how much money they can get out of you and they couldnt care less about you!I was telling someone about my cataract and the awful experience I had at Wilmer, when two people overheard my conversation. Both had cataracts removed by Dr. Anthony Roberts and very highly recommended him. I made an appointment. The staff was nice and very helpful. Just loved them! Dr.Roberts was great! He takes all the time you need to answer any questions, no rushing you in and out there. He does very personalized care which is very rare these days.Scheduled my surgery and when I went, I had so much trust and confidence in Dr. Roberts, I declined the sedative before surgery. Everything went soo well, I went back and had my other eye done the next month.I wish more doctors were like Dr.Roberts.Finding a doctor who actually cares about you is almost impossible these days. Hes kind, patient, and very understanding! I could not be more grateful to those two people that recommended him.I will never go to anyone else!

Had Lasik done same day after I purchased a Groupon. At first I was just curious about the procedure and how financing worked. Everything was explained to me in a very professional manner! I am a 75 year old man and was told when went to get a eye exame. That I had cataracks in both eyes So they refered me to Dr Anthony Roberts. Well to be honest I was very Skeptible of the thought of having eye surgery. But I made an appointment with Dr Roberts and after talking with him. He has a manner of explaining every details of the surgery that eased my mind. And he assured me that he or his wonderful staff would be there for me every step of the way. And there were, I had the surgery on both eyes. They made special effects becauae of my age to insure that I would physically able to proceeed with the surgery. To my surprise it was just like Dr Roberts told me. It was painless and the procedure was over before I knew it. Dr. Roberts performed IOL (Intraocular lens implant) surgery on me and now everyday when I wake up and can see absolutely perfectly, I am amazed. He has a terrific bedside manner and takes time to explain everything clearly - as many times as needed. The procedure was painless and only mildly uncomfortable and very quick. The results - great!! I chose to go to Shady Grove Ophthalmology to finally get LASIK after my wife had such a great experience about a year earlier. Everything she described was as pleasant as she described, if not more so. Everyone was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They walked me through everything to make sure Im aware of what is involved and comfortable. When it was time to get the procedure done, Dr. Roberts was super calming and in control. Dr. Roberts and his team are super professional and personable. Being a nurse myself, bedside manner is a big thing to me. He makes himself available for follow ups and his office is super flexible which works out for people with busy work schedules. He checked in on me after my procedure later that day via text which was great— many docs don’t take the time to do that. Prices are reasonable, he’s reassuring during nerve-racking procedures and overall proficient in his work. I’m two weeks post op now and am super happy with my results. I would 100% recommend.

Dr. Roberts is the BEST!! He took care of my cataracts and everything was so easy and no discomfort. From the moment I met him I knew that he was the one to take care of me.After each eye that he did he called me that same evening of surgery to check to see how I was doing. Everything went great, and as hoped, resulting in a wonderful transition to my sight - I can now read without glasses and drive again at night. Procedure was about as expected, without any pain, and some discomfort was relatively brief. Will get the other eye cataract removed soon.

Very friendly staff. Dr. Roberts does a great job explaining the different eye procedures and their benefits/dangers. As for the procedure, he played music in the background to ensure that I was comfortable and relaxed. The procedure itself was painless and literally 5 mins per eye. I cant say enough nice things about my first visit with Dr. Roberts. Hes extremely knowledgeable and has a calming effect when he speaks. Hes also very personable and seems to really care. He takes his time to answer your questions and does not make you feel silly for asking questions or make you feel rushed. His staff is also awesome. I arrived on time and was seen on time. I had no issue in scheduling an appointment that was within a few days of my call. His office and equipment seem very state of the art. Youll be in great hands if you need to see an ophthalmologist. I went to see him as I read online that they have a specialty in dry eyes; they definitely have a focus and equipment with this that no other optometrist or ophthalmologist has had that Ive met with and he gave me great advice. I had an appointment today at 10:30, got there a few minutes early no other patients were in the lobby ,got called back within minutes, they did all the tests , then put me in a room that was about as big my bathroom, dilated my eye around 10:45 , said dr would be in shortly, well by 11:30 still no dr, had to go use the restroom, so I decided to leave, I realize they have to wait for the dilation to set in but they could have at least opened the door to say they are running a little behind, I also got tired of breathing thru the mask waiting, I think patients should be checked on also.

I had eye surgery with Dr. Anthony Roberts my self. I was referred to Dr. Anthony Roberts and was expecting to meet an expert and nice person. But that didnt happen. I will not recommend him to anyone because of my bad experience with him. After going over his patients complains I noticed that I am not the only one that had those experiences.He is very arrogant. When was asked him questions, he reacts in a way that we are waisting his time. He did not spend time explaining the procedure properly.He had absolutely no respect to our time. He did not even spend time answering our questions.Even though his staff at shady grove are nice but I absolutely do not recommend him. In my opinion patients are not his priority.Thank You

If I could give Dr. Roberts more than 5 stars, I certainly would!For many years, I worried that something could happen to my vision in my dominant (good) eye. I regularly saw an eye specialist, once a year to be exact, and always mentioned my concerns. I was told that if my good eye became compromised, my bad eye would get stronger in a matter of months. Sort of like a lazy eye that didnt need to work because the other eye was stronger. Hmmm...My husband saw the same specialist for his eye health and decided to get another opinion, after being prescribed glasses for driving because he could no longer read road signs, as he was accustomed to.Dr. Anthony Roberts was recommended and he immediately made an appointment for a consultation. Dr. Roberts diagnosed him with a cataract and also explained about an intraocular lens implant to avoid glasses. Today, no glasses and he is very happy!So what about me, I thought? Am I a candidate for this surgery, too? I waited a year to make the appointment. I get squeamish about such things, so I put it off.In December I had my appointment. The first thing Dr. Roberts asked was if I thought my cataract was getting worse? What? I dont have a cataract, but, oh yes I did and also a stigmatism. My vision was 20/50.I scheduled my surgery for Jan 28, 2020. January 29th my vision was 20/30. Today, post-op 5 days and I have a new outlook on everything...to say the least!Thank you, Dr. Roberts!

Absolutely no respect to the patient. In my opinion Dr. Roberts is not reliable and doesnt have proper training. He doesnt understand there is a human-being attached to the eye. I still have some issue after surgery but he is not a good listener. I am switching to a different doctor.

Dr Roberts provided excellent service. I had lasik surgery performed by him. The surgery went well and any recovery/side effects were limited and were what he said would happen. I was impressed that he called my home the evening of my surgery to follow up with my recovery. I would definitely recommend Dr Roberts to anyone!

Dr. Anthony Roberts surpassed all of my expectations. I came to him because my cousin had lasik and my aunt had cataract surgery. He answered every question I had and made me feel comfortable during the surgery. There was a little bit of a wait time when I went in but I had the surgery done the same day as my consultation, I was very nervous as anyone getting eye surgery would and he just has this calming presence. He was very detailed on the what to do and what not to do after surgery. I now have 20/20 and can wake up every morning without having to search for my glasses. Thank you Dr. Roberts for changing my life in more ways than youll ever know.

Really bad experience in this office. I waited 2.5 hours until I actually saw the doctor. I first saw the assistant, for regular testing. After getting drops put in I was told to go back to waiting room for about 20 minutes. FINALLY taken to examining room where I waited LONGER. When Dr. finally came in room he joked around like waiting 2.5 hours was no big deal. Also, the Dr. said there was nothing wrong with my eye. Weeks later I am still experiencing shadows in my right eye whenever light hits it. I must go for a 2nd opinion because something is definitely wrong with my eye. Waste of my time in this office .
