I saw Dr. Hanssen for a knee injury. The MRI indicated a partial tear to my ACL. He said he would plan on a replacement surgery but that if he thought it wasn’t all that bad once he was performing surgery, he would try to repair the ACL using “thermal shrinkage”, which is what he ended up doing. Less than two years later, and never getting to where my knee didn’t hurt, I saw another doctor who told me my ACL was still torn. My second surgery, with an ACL replacement, had much better results.

Dr. Hanssen was awesome in every way. I like the medical jargon he uses. It helps me to research things online. I was very frustrated with the office staff. Theyre so nice in person and on the phone, but there was a mix up on my surgery day after I took off a day of work. Several things were needed for surgery and post surgery. Id call and get some information, but then after they promised to call back or send me a doctors note for work...it seemed I had to remind them. I waited over an hour on one visit, but the other two visits were very reasonable. Overall, Dr. Hanssen is a very good physician and the outcomes on both my knees were great!

Previous Doc said I need knee replacement, went to Dr. Hanssen, he looked at MRI and told me I DID NOT NEED A KNEE REPLACEMENT He scoped both knees and fixed the tears and injected stem cells. My knees have not felt this good in 15 years and I am 68 years old.. I am very happy and recommend him to every one I can. He is a no BS Doctor that will tell you the truth even if you dont like it.. My kind of guy...

Same or next day appointments. When you are in horrible pain, it might make sense to go here. However, my advice would be:1. Do your research on what he tells you/ prescribes.a) he told me I have a herniated disc. He gave me no physical exercises to do to stretch out my back when I started getting better, nor did he give me a pt referral until I asked. However, he was fine giving a referral when I asked.b) he gave me a steroid. It did what it was supposed to do but he did not tell me about any of the potential side effects nor did he tell me to wean off of it slowly. I happen to have a pre-existing condition/medicine that can interact with steroids so do your own due diligence.2. Ask as many questions as you can until you are comfortable. He seems happy to answer but automatically uses medical jargon and doesnt appear to notice. He also can get on tangentially related topics. Eg he gave me a lecture on athletes abusing steroids. I am not an athlete nor do I even go to the gym (dont like it) and I had a very painful injury; I gained 30 pounds in a few months, all in fat, from the meds he gave me. So. I understand that this is on his mind a lot, but since I was blowing up like a balloon, I felt a little... disinterested.Intangibles:Personality-wise, I could see why people would think hes rude or at the very least, brisk. Same with one or two of the nurses. It definitely rubbed me the wrong way, but, you dont have to love your doctor for him to make the right decisions. Nor are you obligated to return.

Dr. Hanson is very knowledgeable and friendly. My son and daughter have both been treated by him. Recently, my father in law had knee replacement surgery by Dr. Hanson and he did a great job, three weeks post OP and my 76 yr old father is moving around like a teenager!

I was referred to this Dr. by urgent care. They told me that he would be able to see if I needed stitches for my hand injury. I received the injury from a electric hedge trimmer. I have a cut that is open and somewhat deep. Which I felt like it definitely needed to be closed up due to easily being able to get infected. This Dr. barely looked at my cut. He then told me that the only thing I needed was a regular small band aid and to pour rubbing alcohol on the open wound. Not professional at all.

Three of my family members have gone to Dr. Hanssen for treatment. We have been extremely pleased with everything from the staff to Chris himself. He is extremely knowledgeable, there were instances he can tell you exactly whats wrong by just speaking with us, he treated it and we are feeling great now. I have never experienced anything anyone else negative has said below. Maybe the staff was having a bad day. I felt every time I came in they were very personable.

I cant say enough about how grateful I am that Dr. Hanssen is my surgeon/doctor. I had a nasty infection in my knee and he took my case on with my best intrest at heart. Three surgeries and lots of trips to the infectious control doctor and Dr Hanssen was there for me all the way. Great doctor! Strongly recommended!

I am completely disappointed in this doctor’s office. I have never had a doctor’s office blatantly neglect my care by not returning my calls and request for records.I have called numerous times and still 3 months later no response. I would not suggest nor would I recommend this orthopedic to anyone.WORST doctor’s office I have ever been to. I wish the doctor and staff were paid according to their service.( ZERO)Save your money go somewhere else. There are a lot of good doctors out there this is not one of them.

Staff was horrible! They failed to give me my license back and I left the office without it. One of the nurses cursed like a sailor. She told me a story and used the f word repeatedly. She also asked my wife questions about her pregnant dog. We are paying for an office visit for her knee... Not to give you advice about your animals. Then they treated my wife so incredibly terribly. They told her she needed surgery. They ran our insurance and then two weeks later, the day before the surgery they called to tell us that we were going to have to pay $2200 up front. So we cancelled until we could come up with the money. Doctor made us come in for another office visit before we could schedule the surgery. So we drove the 20 miles. Sat down. Doctor came in to tell us that we were treating the staff poorly. So we got up and walked out. Staff has a terrible attitude towards women and completely unprofessional.

I have worked, as a nurse, with numerous surgeons for nearly 20 yrs. and with Dr. Hanssen as a pt. never once has his staff ever been less than professional, polite or cursed! As a physician he provides an abundance of information about how everything will go with your care. Great care!

Referred to this Dr from the ER. They told me he would provide more appropriate bandaging for my hand injury. He did not try to remove my bandage for examination or take an X-ray. I was told that he would do surgery in two days to file the bone down. When I questioned why he felt that was necessary without seeing my hand, he replied that he could remove the bandage, which would be painful and poke around to see how close the injury was to the bone. Really?! I felt like a piece of meat with insurance dollar signs attached. I asked him what if he took the bandage off and saw I didn’t need surgery. He said “then I won’t do anything”. Sooo you’re willing to put me under anesthesia at the surgery center then decide what you’re going to do to my hand while I’m unconscious? I felt rushed and pressured and cried when I got to my car. Then I decided ... no thanks!Went to another dr for a second opinion. They took their time soaking my hand to remove the bandage which was stuck due to the amount of blood that had dried onto it. X-rays were taken and it was decided surgery was not necessary at all. I shudder to think of the amount of money I would have had to pay for deductibles not to mention missed work if I would have listened to Dr Hanssen. Would not recommend.

I cant say enough good things about Dr. Hannsen. Nine years ago was my first interface with him when my son (at 48) had a spiral break on his leg. It was a bad one. Dr. H fixed it and he is fine. Then about 3-4 years ago his son had a bad accident and was in Bimini and was brought back to the states and a hospital in FL did surgery on his arm which was awful. As soon as we could get him back to TX. we turned him over to Dr. H and it took almost a year but he was able to save his arm which was a miracle. Then I began having problems with my knees due to arthritis. I went to see Dr.H and after exams and xrays he told me I had bone on bone and it was inoperable due to my health problems. He suggested I take a series of shots (not paid for my medicare) which I decided to do. Just finished them and I now have some relief.I HIGHLY recommend Dr. H! His staff is wonderful and friendly and Ive never had a problem with anyone. If you need a good ortho, go see him! Our family are patients for life whether he wants us or not! He has a good sense of humor so will understand this!!

RUN DO NOT WALK away from this poor excuse for a doctor. 1 1/2 years ago he told me that I needed rotator cuff surgery. I had him do the surgery only to wake up and have him tell me that I didn’t need rotator cuff surgery so he just made numerous incisions to “clean up” the area. So I was then sent to rehab. Rehab was excruciatingly painful but I stuck with it. When I went back to see him and complained of this pain he told me “you shouldn’t be hurting because I fixed it”. The surgery was in March. By August I couldn’t stand the pain any longer and went to Dr. Snow in McKinney. He took one look at the same MRI that Hanssen had ordered and said surgery was needed to see what was going on. I had surgery and not only was my rotator cuff torn but my BICEP was torn. He placed screws in the bone and tied the bicep to it.Hanssen does not know his anatomy. When I asked him if the pain in my ear could be caused by irritation to a nerve connected to my shoulder, he told me that there were no nerves in the neck!! So how did my nurse from surgery with Snow, be able to do a nerve block on my NECK to help with pain after surgery?? If you love your family, do not let this quack touch them!!!

I suffered from a torn ACL and weak lateral motion. Chris Hanssen performed an ACL reconstruction on me. One year later, my lateral motion has not improved so I went to see him again. He did not remember me or my procedure, which also means he did not even bother to look at his chart before seeing me.
