Lina did an amazing job. I went in for a microblading session knowing nothing about skin care, and she immediately found acne under the skin in my eyebrows, which kept her from being able to perform the procedure due to risk of infection. Right there on the spot she guided me through getting the acne cleared up - from waxing my eyebrows, giving me blue light treatment and pore opening serum, to teaching me how to wash my face properly.When I returned a couple of weeks later, the acne had completely cleared up and she was able to proceed forward. She did a great job with the numbing cream (for a while, I couldn’t feel anything!), working to ensure my brows would fit my current shape, as well as my facial structure, lining up colors, and making sure everything was just how I wanted it.I am extremely pleased with the results of our first session and am scheduled for a follow up for any necessary touch ups.Lina has a kind heart and cares for her clients. She goes above and beyond to make sure her clients receive stellar service, and ensures proper hygiene is the number one priority.I would highly recommend!

I never Review Online, but I must…..In 2012 I had a wonderful artist from Browz’ n Around Brow Studio that worked with the normal/natural look of my brow. My Brows looked great for years(See below). I was happy and care free for 6 yrs.🤗I came in to SKIN ESSENCE A DAY SPA looking for a refreshed and updated brow with that same natural Look.Welllll, I thought I’d found a great deal on GROUPON in Dec 2018 to do just that!Now, $1500-$2000 Later , In 2021 I have attempted 6 professional Removal attempts of these Marker Brows.And Noooo, They did not fade naturally , And all attempts to remove them has caused scarringAs You can see my before and after attached.I left my appointment feeling positive knowing that they were going to be dark to start with, & fade over time.Concern started after 2-3 weeks of normal shedding w/no fade, skipped the ‘free ‘follow up, & took excellent care of brows To ensure they healed correctly. Then four months past, then six, still the same. I Followed the aftercare instructions from Lina and online to the T!….They are now bluish green!During my professional removals, I was told that the ink was deposited too deep into the skin, and they suspected tattoo ink instead of Microblading Ink. I will truly never know.Now I’m stuck, and there’s absolutely no way to cover what is still left on my face. I reached out to Lina, and she did respond quickly. She said I came in with make up already😳💁🏽‍♀️That is correct, I came in with some BEAUTIFUL DELICATE & NATURAL looking awesome brows!She offered absolutely no suggestions NOR recompense At All. Lina Denied she used tattoo ink. She Denied the depth of the ink deposits being too deep.In My personal opinion and from my experience,- PLEASE do your homework!-Ask What kind of ink are they using, And look it up!-Remember a deal is not always a deal.$200 browse may end up pushing $2000 when it’s all said and done.- do not skimp or try to save money on something that is so very important to all of us.- and IMHO and from my Personal Experience ……AVOID this place!DONT DO ITThere are also some photos showing my removal attempts

The owner is rude to her staff. I had a chemical peel and wasn’t given the cream needed to make the skin soften and peel. I went back and was CHARGED full price for a treatment. That still didn’t work and I was upset and said I wasn’t paying for it to be corrected. It was not my mistake. I was treated like I was trying to just get free stuff! I also had to spend extra on products to try and get the peel off my face. It didn’t work. I ended up at a Dermatologist and was given a specific lotion to soften my skin. It took about a year to resolve the issue and I refuse to ever go back. Now the owner is saying I have never been there! Hilarious! I was there and know I have the right place. I went there a few times and like I said I wasn’t given the post spa treatment product and that’s why it didn’t come off. I remember you Lina the owner that is rude! I have the right spa

I started coming to Linas spa around June 2020. I have dealt with hyperpigmentation all my life. However, I started to get the chemical peel treatments, as well as, the microdermabrasion treatments. As an African American woman, who has tried all sorts of treatments while going from demeratologist to demeratologist; I have never experienced the positive results I have now! My hyperpigmentation is almost gone, and I am extremely pleased wth the results. I trust Linas expertism in her field, and Im glad that my hyperpigmentation is finally gone! I had a great experience with Lina at Skin Essence Day Spa. She is so knowledgeable (and kind and funny!) I had age spots zapped with electric device. I cannot believe the difference on my face. After the scabs fell off (4 days post treatment) I faithfully used the Allantoin moisturizer and some niacin-amide and the pink marks are fading quickly. I didnt not use the numbing cream, the zaps hurt but are bearable.

Lina runs this gemstone of a spa in affluent north Raleigh where she offers high quality services that fit the schedule and the budget. I highly recommend her eyelash tinting for folks with medium-colored hair to make the eyes pop. It is like waking up with mascara already on for weeks but is subtle enough for women and men. Best of all, Lina genuinely cares about her patients and takes care of us as if we were relatives.

Fantastic all around. The spa was very clean and the staff was super kind. They really care about your experience. Kenya did my message which was by far the best message I have ever had. She really took her time to address my shoulder pain and gave me my full hour. Someone else did my body scrub and facial (I feel silly because I can remember her name and I spent the most time with her). She was amazing also. My skin was glowing when I left and it still looks great days later. Next time I go back I will be sure to book with these two ladies. Very professional top notch service!

I got a bikini wax here and the service was amazing. The owner really knows what she is doing and she personally trains all of the girls. They were super professional and made me feel as comfortable as you can get during a bikini wax! The pain was minimal and I did not have any in grown hair, itchiness or bumps. They only downside is they are pretty pricey but it is worth it for knowledgeable service and lasting results. They usually have Groupons as well. The room I was in was ok. It needed a little updating and TLC but over all everything was very clean. I did not see the rest of the spa but from what I can see, a lot of happy clients were coming in and out getting different services done. They have a wide range of knowledge on skin care. Appointment only.

My mom and I each had an appointment for a facial and a body scrub a couple weeks ago. I should preface this review by saying I am a regular spa-goer and know good customer service and quality spa treatments.Upon entering the spa I was worried right away. There is so much advertisement in the waiting area for skincare product lines and treatments that it is ridiculous. The woman that owns the spa tries to push costly treatments and products onto you even when it is apparent you arent interested.She started off the facial by being 45 minutes late and then wanted to show me how to wash my face. I am a skincare guru. I dont need to be shown how to wash my face. No I dont want to wash my face with abrasive gauze. I was curious when she wanted me to put my face in a machine that supposedly shows light damage and oily skin etc. According to the color chart my skin contained the right amount of oil. Following this the owner tried to convince me to get a chemical peel by misrepresenting my skin type provided by her own equipment.I didnt go ahead with the facial. I do not trust her with my face.I did get a body scrub. I only moved forward with the scrub because my mom had already had hers and said it was good. It was with another woman, not the owner. The scrub was mediocre at best. The customer service provided by the employee was good. However, I have gotten quite a few body scrubs and this one was the shortest and the least thorough and least relaxing.This spa just isnt worth going to.

I highly recommend Skin Essence for its effective treatments of removing facial scars, moles, acne, and massages.I have had all these services done there and the results are fantastic. Lina, the owner is expert at what she does and she truly cares about her clients. The staff is very friendly and professional also. One of my favorite is the ion cleanse, which does an excellent job at clearing your lymphatic system of toxin build-up, from work stress or diet. A+

This is not a review on their facials. Ive never had a facial here but I received 3 waxes and each time, the area I got waxed broke out in what looked like dozens of tiny pimples. Not very attractive. It took a few days of exfoliating, cleaning and antibacterial ointment for them to go away. Ive had dozens of waxes and many other facilities and never had this happen. However the service was good, facilities were clean and the staff was friendly.

I originally went to Lina back in 2015 with help because my face was breaking out all the time to the point I didnt know what else to do. I tried all kinds of different products and none seem to solve my problem. The moment Lina started treating my skin I can definitely say that she was my miracle sent from god. The products work AMAZING. Vivant is the best thing I could ever use on my face to treat and get rid of acne and skin pigmentation. I wouldnt go anywhere else but to her for anything that has to do with my face. I also tried out the spray tanning last summer and loved the results. Lasted a long time. I had the best experience at Skin Essence Day Spa. The staff is extremely friendly and Lina (the owner) is so kind and provides the best service. My first visit to the spa was because of a GroupOn voucher for a wax service and once I visited the spa, I discovered much more. Lina had a consultation with me about the skin growth removal service she provides that will remove the spots/freckles-like moles on my face. I dont know the proper term for them but thats what they look like. :-) ...I went through with the service in which she uses a laser-like tool to remove them and Im extremely happy with the results. I never knew a service like that was available until I started going to Lina. Im so happy with the results that I have proceeded to get the procedure done around areas of my neck. Skin Essence, A Day Spa is my go-to for all of my skin care needs.

I have been to a wide variety of day spas and I must say that Lina has been the most knowledgeable, effective and thorough. I have had acne my whole life and as a result, have scarring, uneven skin tones and large pores. In addition, due to extreme cold exposure, I had visible broken capillaries on my nose.I received dermabrasion treatment along with a chemical peel; those two alone have reduced scarring and minimized my pores. I also had a skin growth treatment which removed completely and immediately the broken capillaries on my nose,( Im so thrilled about that one would, definitely recommend!!!). The red and blue light treatments are painless, effective, affordable and very safe for the skin. I liked the red and blue lights as preventative steps against future breakouts. Lastly, Lina colored my eyelashes and eyebrows, which were a perfect match to my hair color.I would STRONGLY recommend Skin Essences services and am very happy with my results. I have had the absolute pleasure of having Lina Yang care for my skin for the past six months. She has introduced me to microdermabrasion and peels and my face cannot thank her enough! I have been a client of Linas for over a year now. When I first came to Lina I had always had great skin, but a life crisis left me with hyper pigmentation on my forehead that I wanted to get rid of but managed to not find anything that worked for my skin. I have very sensitive skin, so I was skeptical to try anything else. Fortunately, Lina administered my first chemical peel. After a series of about 3-4 peels over the next few months my skin was back to its perfect condition and now looks flawless. I have also utilized the red and blue light treatments as well as microdermabrasion services in order to continue promoting healthy, clear and glowing skin. In addition to the services offered by Lina, the products have also allowed me to promote healthy skin while I am on the go, or in the comfort of my own home. Everywhere I go I am told how much younger I look than my true age and I am always asked what I use on my skin. Lina truly cares about your interests and needs and she will not complete any service or recommend any treatment unless she feels it is absolutely the best for your skin. She is kind, patient, and thorough in each appointment and I cant thank her enough for her services. The other staff at the spa are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful as well. I had my first wax at Skin Essence and Lina Yang did an excellent job! She made my first experience very comfortable and wasnt scary like the experiences friends of mine had. First and for most I would not call this place a spa. I have been to legitimate spas where atmosphere and massage quality could not be put in the same category with this place. Room was cold and felt like a bathroom with a massage table, not a relaxing environment you would expect from a spa. Massage was not bad but compare to other places felt very ammature and sloppy. For headrest they used a towel wrapped around in the circle...if you never been to a good massage place you might think its ok. I would recommend to spend extra 20 dollars and go to a real spa.

Lina has waxed my eyebrows for several years. She is focused & pays attention to detail, so I decided to get Microblading and I love it!! Lina talked to me about color, care & made sure I was happy with my eyebrows before I left her spa. Microblading has taken time off my daily routine & I feel like I look 10 years younger. As a guy, historically lets be honest, not really much of a face washer. But after seeing Lina and following her super simple protocol my forehead has finally cleared up. Lina Y. the proprietor, is always the highlight of my visit. I come as often as I could when I find myself in north Raleigh and always find at least one gift for myself from facials (yes...i know...admitting it..only bc Lina says so) to one of my favorites, the ionic foot bath. I would definitely say call, make an appt and go treat yourself because yes you and I...we totally deserve it.

I went in for a Brazillian after purchasing a groupon. I absolutely LOVED the woman who waxed me. I dont remember her name but she was amazing. This was my first ever wax, other than a leg wax years ago, and she made me feel really comfortable. She also kept me laughing through most of it and made the pain more bearable simply by being patient and understanding. I will definitely be going back!!

Ive had the pleasure of being a client at Skin Essence for the past five years. I started out purchasing the Vivant line and quickly gained confidence in Linas knowledge about skincare. As a result, I decided to allow her to perform her recommended treatment plan to address the acne and hyper pigmentation on my face. As an African American women, I am very cautious about what is applied to my skin, as not to cause further discoloration. Lina explained which treatments and topical products would work best and Ive experienced tremendous improvement since being a client. I love that I can visit occasionally to get a really good facial or schedule a series of visits, if I notice my skin going though a challenging phase. As an African American woman in my 40s, thats benefited from Linas guidance, treatment and excellent products/service, I highly recommend Skin Essence!! My 22 year old daughter is also a client!!!

At the beginning of the summer, I had lots of acne and inflammation. Now that Ive started going to Lina at Skin Essence, my skin is clear and radiant. Everyone has noticed a major difference. Ive gotten facials before and they were a total waste of money. I saw a difference after one treatment. Just remember it is an investment and it takes time for your skin to completely clear up. As someone who has tried different treatments and different products, Im relieved to work with someone who knows what they are doing and has gotten real results.

Gorgeous, relaxing environment and kind staff. I spent a little more to update the Groupon chemical peel and Im glad I did, because the effects were much stronger than the last, less mild peel I had elsewhere. I had the jessner here.Subtle pressure to buy expensive products though. I just used aquaphor at home, my usual gentle cleanser and elta md or cerave sunscreen. The peeling was mostly controlled well with aquaphor but admittedly there were times I wanted to hide my face.Going for another treatment next month, and probably one after that to reduce red scarring.

I went here to get a facial. I wanted the most simplest facial just to give my skin a little pampering for an event I had coming up for the weekend. Lina talked me into getting microdermabrasion. Undergoing the service seemed rough, harsh, and rushed. I told her that my face felt RAW and her response was that it was fine and my skin would be beautiful. The next day, I had 3 new scars on my face from the procedure. A co-worker of mine even asked what happened to your face? It was horrible and Ill never go here again. When I usually get facials, the aesthetician doesnt leave the room. Lina left the room a couple of times and I was left there alone with my face burning for 10 minutes or more each time. Shes very knowledgeable in her field, however, the customer service was a let down for me. My appointment was for 1:30pm, I didnt leave until around 3:30pm (I wasnt seen until a little after 2pm). I wouldnt recommend a facial here at all, try somewhere that tends to their customers better and actually listens to what their customers tell them. I hope my scars fade soon. :-(

I ABSOLUTELY would recommend Skin Essence to any and everyone!!! I began seeing Lina 3 years ago at the age of 18, to help clear up the hyper-pigmentation (dark spots) on my face. She recommended microdermabrasion, chemical peel treatment and the Vivant skincare line. As an African American female, I was using products that werent the safest for my skin type. However, Lina educated my mother and me on the right products to keep our skin healthy and clear. I am very grateful for Lina and all shes done! I went to skin essence because I had been struggling with acne for a few years without any help from over the counter washes. Lina is very knowledgable and relatable. She performed a acne treatment on my face and told me that I should use ice for two minutes a day and sold me a face wash that works amazing! She also always works thoroughly and never rushes through the treatments. Also you can tell that they use quality products and dont cut corners as some skin spas I have experienced. I will keep returning!

Saw Lina for some hyper-pigmentation issues, she recommended a microderm and chemical peel. Said my skin would be great afterwards.That was not the case. At. All. Procedures were way to aggressive and now I have scars and mottled skin on face. Went back shortly afterwards to ask her what happened but she wouldnt try to resolve the issue. Played dumb more or less. Going to Lina is one of the biggest mistakes Ive made. Youve been warned.I cant stress this enough: Lina butchered my face. Saw her twice post-butchering to see if she could something to repair the damage she did but she offered nothing - not even an apology. Dont push your luck... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

I went because I had a gift certificate for a spa package and wont be going back. It doesnt have the relaxing atmosphere I look for in a spa and I wasnt given an option when booking to choose between a male or female massage therapist. I felt uncomfortable a few times with his techniques as they are never to reach under the blanket. He was unprofessional. The facial room is like a closet and has harsh fluorescent lighting as does the ionic foot cleanse room. Luckily, after a false start of what kind of facial is included in the gift certificate (which the technician should have known before trying to up-sell me), I got a great facial and my skin looked great afterwards. I dont know if the ion cleanse is worth it, but it was a new experience. Ive had better massages and facials at Massage Envy. Not the place to go for relaxation but rather if you have a specific skin issue you want help with.

Everytime I make an appointment for a service they make me wait 20-30 minutes before coming up to front - then I have to wait more til they are ready. . It’s very rude and inconsiderate and a waste my time

Went to get a massage. The massage was amazing Kenya? Took great care of me and explained what she was doing and after offered suggestions for what I could do to loosen muscles in the future. When I was leaving I decided to see if the had any openings for a last min microdermabrasion. They were able to fit me in which was awesome. Then things went down hill. Lina pulled me in a room and without giving me a second to think begans taking pictures of my skin and blowing them up to show me my problem areas. Saying that I should get some treatment to laser off some freckleish spots that I have. I tell her I like them no thanks. Well after a few minutes of overwhelming me with that we picked a treatment. Microdermabrasion and a enzyme peel. One of the ladies starts the process and after she puts the stuff on she leaves to go talk to Lina. She comes back and recommends a chemical peel I decline. ( I am already having a microdermabrasion and different peel) and then asked why I didnt want to get the laser treatment. I tell them again. I like them. Lina then comes back in and tells me I have 21 layers of skin and that its absolutely necessary for me to get a chemical peel because me skin doesnt look good because its still oily and that the spots on my face are going to get worst of I dont take them off. So you mean to tell me that after almost 250 dollars spent I need over 300 dollars of more treatments. Pass. I finished up and left. The icing of the cake. When I got home and looked I still have residual makeup on. So they couldnt even clean my face enough to get the makeup off but you want me to pay you 550 for skin treatments. NEVER AGAIN!!

This place makes your day so relaxed after a stressful day at work. I know when i get back to North Carolina after dealing with my stepsisters Im going to need it.
