I moved my mother to Sunrise of Upper St Clair from a neglectful care situation in Texas in September 2020. From the first day of her arrival until the time she passed away this past July 2021, mom was treated with loving care and kindness. For the first time in a couple years, mom laughed, sang and hand danced. The activities director told me that mom was a cheerleader for any and all activities. Mom had dementia, was wheelchair bound, and required a lot of care. The staff, across the board, did a great job taking care of moms needs and demonstrated has a loving caring approach not only to the residents, but also the families. I feel so blessed that they were willing to take mom during a pandemic and made the effort to make the last months of her life so happy. I cannot recommend this senior living facility enough. I will be forever grateful.

I used to volunteer to do crafts with the residents. I had so much fun with them and the staff was always so nice and friendly. It was so wonderful to see how good the residents were taken care of.. the residents were always so happy when I was there.. and i hope things get back to some normalcy so I am able to volunteer again!

My grandmother was a resident there. I loved coming to visit with her and to join in on all of the fun things they had going on. I loved when we all did karaoke and when they had trivia and happy hour. They always made sure my grandma was having fun and happy, as well as loved. I would recommend anyone looking for their loved one to check out Sunrise.

I have loved working here for the past 11 years! I have found my second family in this community. We treat our residents with love and respect and I am proud to be a part of this team.

I had a client here name Lillian and they took extra awesome care of her. I would take her out 2 to 3 times a week to stores and to visit her sister. They treat their residents like family. The hole staff is like a big family. The staff and owner care about the residents and always have activities for them to do. I am very impressed and always feel she is safe and loved. Sadly Lilly has passed away but this place always left a positive impression with me and recommend people researching this place for their loved ones. Thank you for all your hard work.

Place is truly a mess Ive worked there and the staff truly dont even care one staff member kayhill doesnt even bother doing his job and plays video games all night mean wile Ive withnessed others being forceful and strong arming residents into doing what needs to be done it makes me sick that one night a resident feel out of her bed instead of helping me help her they neglected her and she was bleeding from her head so instead of helping her they kicked me out the building this story I posted happened well over a year ago but still deserves to be shared

After reading the reviews below, I think Sunrise must have made a lot of changes in the past year! I moved my mother here 3 months ago and the staff have been professional and caring. My mother was neglected and abused in her Texas care center and I moved her here during the pandemic. She has blossomed with their care and I cannot be happier.

My mother in law has lived at this Sunrise facility for almost a year. After living at a few other nursing homes I can say we are very happy here.Sharon at the front desk greets us with a smile as do the nurses aid, nurses, and executives.I am pleased with her care and the cleanliness of the building. The building recently has undergone renovations while I did not find them necessary they were not a bother and look bright and beautiful.

I recently toured this facility, as well as 4 others in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. I can say it was by far the best out of all weve seen so far. The people we met greeted us with smiles and welcomes. The lady at the front desk offered us coffee while we waited for our tour. The decor and grounds were lovely. The only downside is that it was outside of our price range. Even after we admitted we couldnt afford to have Dad live at Sunrise the sales person offered us a list of local homes that could fit into our price range. They were great!

My husbands mother was a resident here for 2 years before unfortunately passing earlier this year. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the care my mother in law received from the staff, especially as she reached the end of her life. The caregivers were always patient and kind to our entire family. This building felt like a second home to us and we will greatly miss our second family, the sunrise staff!

I have had the pleasure of visiting and being apart of my aunts care at Sunrise Upper St. Clair for the last 2 years. My aunt has no children and when her husband passed it was quite a challenge to step up and find her a good home I felt safe leaving her in. It was certainly an adjustment for all of us but we have been overall very pleased. The activities program is phenomenal and they keep my aunt involved in outings and activities all day, which was such a relief for me due to the fact that she really shut down after my uncles death. Recently we have seen a change in staffing. Normally this would concern me but the new care staff and the existing staff have been wonderful. The renovations were a bit of niuscence during the process but now that they are complete the building is much more modern and reminds me of a luxury hotel. The cost is on the exspensive side but we have come to learn you pay for quality. I look forward to the memories ahead.

Unfortunately, I can not give zero stars. This place is severely understaffed and the people who live there are suffering because of it. My family member sits in her urine for hours at a time with no attention. When we bring it to managements attention we are told they will look into it. Nothing is ever done. The only change made is our family member is treated worse.

Sunrise of Upper St. Clair has taken a huge turn for the worse. I have had months of no communication from the the facility. I call, I stop in and I have also contacted corporate. Casey and Jen are never available and do not return phone calls. I have watched aides become frustrated from the way residents are neglected by the nursing staff and they are worn thin from handling so much. Our costs have went up, once in December and again in January, yet care continues to change for the worse on a daily basis. Other families are angry and upset however the common census is no one wants to speak up because of the fear that their loved ones will be further neglected and myself and others are looking elsewhere. Sad what this building has turned into.

ELDERLY ARE NEGLECTED, PLACE SMELLY ( REEKS OF URINE )I have been visiting a family member who has grown very weak and now spends a lot of time in bed.The 2nd floor reeks of urine every time I visit. The staff doesn’t even attempt to get her out of bed and take her to dinner.I have frequently found her wet ( they never took her to bathroom) and disheveled. They let her sleep all day and do not wake her up for meals. Her room is filthy ( hasn’t been vacuumed from what I can tell)My relative is always thirsty, staff apparently do not offer her water or drinks in spite of her having a stocked little fridge in her room.I have found her lying on a bare plastic mattress, the staff says the do not have‘ hospital bed ‘ sheets. (!)The place had gone drastically downhill !Staff does not care and neglect those that are unable to get around independently.

I agree with the others, would not even give them a star! You know what they say, you cant judge a book by its cover. The majority of the money must go to the 703 area code since is not spent on the front line, the caregivers actually take care of your loved one. From high turn over of caregivers, understaffed (but they meet state requirements, so does the county facility) and the universal caregiver concept does not work in the facility with high care residents. Also if you are not going to do your love ones laundry expect it to be gone, which is against STATE LAW, but laundry is always missing, hearing aids lost or no batteries. Plus, the executive give you lip service, just empty promises with no follow up.RUN FROM THE PLACE! The money is not spent on the care of your loved one. There are a few of the team that actually care, but most of the good ones have left due to poor management.
