Thank you to all management and staff for creating a warm, engaged living experience for my mom from 8/1/19 to 5/29/21 when she passed. From the time we toured Fair Oaks back in 2107, we fell in love with the family-like ambiance, so when mom needed to transition to personal care living in 2019, it was an easy decision. Staff always engaged her in activities, treated her with respect and kept a watchful eye when situations warranted. Anytime I visited her I was welcomed on a first name basis and given an update even before I asked. Finding genuine compassion like that is priceless and I am forever grateful to all. Fair Oaks is a wonderful place for a loved one!

Online browsing personal care homes is fine, but you dont get a true experience. Make an appointment and visit any you research online and use your nose when you go! If things dont smell right, then they arent right. This place is ALWAYS clean and offers a warm friendly environment with friendly staff. I have known both residents and staff there and have been going to Fair Oaks for 10+ years and it is always a great place to walk into, and from talking to the residents, a great place to live, too. They have a Chapel and beauty shop right on-site.For residents who lived there a while, they dont ask them to leave when they are running out of money. As a non-profit organization, they have a program that helps subsidize their rent. Their rates are very reasonable and they dont charge you more just because your mom needs help with a shower, toileting or medication. Everything is included when you move in. Three meals per day, laundry and housekeeping are also included.Overall it seems like a great place. Staffing seems really good. There have been a couple aides over the years who probably shouldnt be in this field, but Fair Oaks seems like they do a good job at taking out the trash. Ive included some pictures but they come right off the website.

Fair Oaks is an amazing place. Mom and Dad have 24hour help, healthy meals, socialization, and best of all they have fun!!! A+ to the staff and management and A+ place to live!!!!

Fair Oaks is full of so much love. The staff truly care about the residents and alwaus have their best interests at heart. This is a beautiful peaceful place to live.

I usually don’t do this, however I feel as though this facility’s level of quality deserves mentioning. I have been in the hospitality service industry for nearly 2 decades providing specific services to care facilities. I always pay attention to detail and look for things that facility operators maybe don’t notice due to being complacent or lack of care. Fair Oaks of Pittsburgh has got to be the cleanest and freshest care facility I have ever walked into. While most care homes have the underlying feeling of a nursing facility or hospital, this place makes you feel like you are in a high end hotel from the moment you enter the foyer. The building, massive property and long driveway are always meticulously kept and landscaped. The residents have a well thought out menu that would be the envy of most top restaurants. The pristine condition kitchen under a top chef prepares fine cuisine from crab cakes to beautifully prepared lamb chops with all the fixings. Each of the apartments are cared for at a level higher than most people keep their own homes and updated and freshened up with each new resident. The staff, from housekeeping and maintenance to kitchen/server and administrative are all above accommodating and professional. As large as this facility is, when you walk in the door you feel like family! I could go on and on but I will finish with… I hope this place has the same high quality standard of service when it comes my time to be cared for!

While no facility is perfect, Fair Oaks comes very close. I think a big reason for this is that its not a for profit facility like most others, so the management can focus on ensuring that the residents get the best care possible. My parents were at two other facilities prior to this, and neither came close in the level of care and compassion for them.The facility and grounds are very nice and give the residents plenty of freedom to walk inside and outside. Independent residents can keep a car there if they like. My parents were very happy there, unlike other places.Additionally, there are cameras throughout the facility which are monitored 24/7 for the safety of the residents. It also helps the care staff to stay in their best behavior!My only regret is that we didnt find this facility sooner, and my parents could have started with independent living and progressed through dementia care, all without leaving Fair Oaks. I highly recommend it.

My father was a resident at Fair Oaks for nearly ten years, and my mother-in-law lived there for 11 years. Both of them enjoyed the comfortable, attractive facility and grounds, wide range of activities, and excellent food, and benefited from the care of compassionate staff for the final years of their lives. Periodically during those years one of them would have a rehab or post-hospital admission to a different senior care facility, and we were always happy when they returned to Fair Oaks because of the genuinely warm and compassionate care they received.Many senior facilities promote their amenities, but what really matters is the quality of care the residents receive, particularly when their personal needs increase. Rather than just providing the minimum services necessary, Fair Oaks has a true culture of caring that starts at the very top. CEO Desiree Gress and her team know each of the residents personally and don’t hesitate to get directly involved with solving a problem for a resident or pitching in to help staff on a busy day. Over the years, on the rare occasion when my husband or I felt that care from one of the direct caregivers was less than optimal, the management team never failed to take time to meet with us and hear the details of the issue, then objectively investigate, provide feedback about their findings, and take the appropriate actions. There was never a time when our issue was not fully addressed. In addition, Fair Oaks recognizes that many seniors and their families cannot afford facilities with many expensive amenities, and they have been able to provide an attractive environment and excellent services at an affordable cost. We will continue to recommend Fair Oaks to all individuals who are searching for a permanent residence in their senior years.

Fair Oaks is a great place to work. Desiree is kind and wonderful to work for. Jenny and the rest of the Staff have true care and compassion for the Residents. I wouldnt hesitate to choose Fair Oaks for a loved one who needed assisted living.

I have been visiting Fair Oaks for over 15 years.It is a lovely piece of property, very clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly. I will probably live here when I get of age to need assisted living.

I give fair oaks 5stars, I loved the place and the residents, as far as the facility great place to work, co workers nice helpful sense of humor. 3.5 stars a tragic happen and I felt like they cared and was there for me, and before I knew it I was betrayed. all in all I will recommend this place.

My great grandma lived here for years, and I currently work here. Its a lovely place to work or live. I think it says a great deal about a facility when employees feel comfortable having a family member move in to the Personal Care Home they work at. Our Chef, Hairdresser, Board President, Chaplain, and Business Office Manager have also had family stay at Fair Oaks. We even have a former employee who now calls Fair Oaks home. Though some shifts have turnover, there is a core group of people who have worked at Fair Oaks for many years who truly care. Half of management has been working at the facility for over a decade and are always willing to hear issues and rectify any problems that arise.

Having relatives who reside at Fair Oaks. Let me just say is a top notch facilty in all aspects of assisted living from the Management team , housekeeping , medical team, laundry staff, the culinary team, maintenance and security. You couldnt ask for a better caring facility for loved ones. Check it out for yourself.

We had a cousin that stayed at Fair Oaks. He always told us that it was a great place to stay and was well taken off while he was there.

I use to work here for a few months a year ago, this was the worse assisted living home ive ever worked at. Theres drama and gossip left and right with all of the girls I worked with, theyre constantly short staffed... alot of the times id have to be responsible for two floors by myself or be put on the dementia floor by myself with NO HELP. Theres senile patients that literally try to escape(and have gone on different floors) on a daily basis and poor security to keep them safe. People quit left and right in the middle of thier shift(and leave in general. No one stays long) Dont even get me started on the rude greeters at the front desk and the head nurse. Ive witnessed the head nurse act/talk inappropriate to the resident care aides, med techs, and even to the patients. Since theyre short staffed and no one can get to the residents quick enough ive seen elderly patients sit in soiled diapers for long periods of time and endup getting skin problems because of it. I wouldnt advise ANYONE to work here or leave their loved one to live in that sh*thole. It may look nice on the outside but it sure as hell isnt on the inside, dont let the pretty landscape and structure of the property fool you.
