I love coming to Sanctuary! Ive seen two massage therapists here over the last few years and Ive had great experiences with both. The ambiance is a beautiful old home, very warm and cozy. The staff are responsive to needs/desires for a massage and really care about helping you feel better. I got my partner to start coming here this year and he loves it too. Well definitely continue coming back!

I had a great time at sanctuary on second! I got my first ever massage here. I had a 60 min session with Grace. I came in with stress and strain from my neck to my hips. Grace handled me with care, made sure I was comfortable, and really helped easing my pain. Thank you, Grace!It was really easy to make an appointment. Just go through their website, pick a date/time and pick a person (if you want). Theyll send you email and text notifications to remind you. So easy!

Terrific experience at Sanctuary on 2nd, which is a welcoming, friendly, and soothing environment in an old Philadelphia row home. Came for a couples massage and were welcomed by our massage therapists, Meghan and Danielle, who chatted with us each individually to assess problem area(s) and set a roadmap for how they would be addressed in this session and gave us time to settle. Periodically throughout the massage, they checked in to make sure we were comfortable (e.g., temperature, lighting, and sound) and that the pressure was enough/not too much. As others have noted, we appreciated that the appointment clock starts when the massage begins, which allows you to chat before/after without feeling rushed.Second session was an individual massage with Wren: all massage therapists have been terrific to work with!Already have my next few appointments booked!

Sanctuary on 2nd ranks high on my massage experiences. Went for a couples massage and was impressed with how thorough and attentive Kate was to what I wanted. The whole experience was relaxing, from the moment I stepped in - to second I left. The massage itself was incredible and had me refreshed and renewed. My husband and I just went for a couple’s massage and it was FANTASTIC. We have had several massages on vacations around the world (Morocco, Thailand, Greece...), but this was our first massage at home in Philly. I had Wren and she was excellent- personable, professional, and very attentive. My husband’s masseuse (Kristie) was great too -even he was raving and saying we’d be back again soon (which is a feat because he’s typically quite reluctant to splurge on luxuries that aren’t for special occasions ). Loved the atmosphere- very cozy in an old-fashioned house but with some edge. Covid precautions were strictly adhered to (which we really appreciate and thankfully are both vaccinated). We were both very excited and will be back!

They are incredibly amazing at what they do and in high demand, you need to book your appointment in advance. Im already looking forward to my next appointment.

Recently just got a massage here and I loved it. Kelly was awesome, physically intuitive and really found all the knots in my back. I’m a muralist and my back was super tight from a recent installation and Kelly really helped me out and found all my problem areas. She was very receptive of my needs and would definitely recommend going to her!

Fantastic massage. I went for a 90 minute massage. Deep pressure. Kelly is great! She took great care and found all of my trouble spots. She is a real expert. I will definitely go again. The ambiance is wonderful.

The ambiance and feeling when I walked in was very welcoming and had a comforting side to it all. Kelly was awesome, she was very professional. The Sanctuary on 2nd is unlike anything Ive ever experienced. Walking into it for the first time, I felt more like I was in a Victorian curiosities shoppe than a spa, which honestly put me completely at ease because of who I am. The entire time I was there, I felt safe, supported, and treated with care and respect. Meghan (who I will review individually) is a true healer and elevated my experience beyond a normal massage day. My girlfriend was there that day and I believe had Doireann, who was just as fantastic.There are some really special pieces to this parlor, and I dont want to share them all because some of it is a great surprise. Overall, though, I felt that consent, health, comfort, and holistic wellness were highly valued and respected.I recommend Sanctuary on 2nd for anyone who has had bad previous experiences with massage and wants to try again in a safer space where they will be respected, LGBTQ+ clients, and anyone who wants to have a spa experience in an alternative setting that actually does somehow manage to pull together vintage goth and day spa into a cohesive environment.
