Five weeks ago I was able to schedule a Covid vaccination at Apthorp Pharmacy. I received my first shot in January, the second one this week. Everything about the process was handled very smoothly and efficiently. The staff at Apthorp was friendly and helpful, had all the necessary paperwork ready for me and both visits were managed right on time, as scheduled. As an Upper West Side resident, I was very fortunate that I was able to accomplish my vaccinations locally in a full service pharmacy like Apthorp, where I have been a customer for many years.

Called to get a prescription and spoke to what felt like a moody teen who i was keeping away from her phone. So bad it was quite funny TBH.When it was time to collect I was charged for the first time for needles and syringes, all the other pharmacies always add them either free or through the insurance, I don’t know tbh. Annoyingly I had to come back because the hadn’t given me the complete set of needles as my Dr had prescribed. Yep got charged again. Supper annoying.3 stars overall because other times, although there are issues. I never feel ripped off like i did today.

Apthorp Pharmacy is an NYC gem! Even if you do not live on the UWS this feels like a local pharmacy and they easily service the entire city - and further with their option for overnight shipping via FedEx. I have been in touch with Apthorp regularly lately - in person and over the phone - and highly recommend them.Their Pharmacists and team members are patient, knowledgeable and kind. At one point, I probably called Apthorp 5 or 6 times in one day. One of their pharmacists, Jordan, was particularly wonderful to work with. He answered all of my questions, made sure I had everything I needed and even rushed to have an item delivered to me downtown (in just 30 minutes) when I realized I was missing it. And, Jordan shared the pharmacy department’s direct line in case I had any other questions.Nicole has also been great to work with and even called to confirm I had everything I needed ahead of a recent snowstorm. The Apthorp team makes it clear that they are available via phone, text, email - and even have pharmacists on call after business hours. I also appreciated that they called me when something was not covered by my insurance (which I knew) before they ran my card.Apthorp feels like a small, local pharmacy in the midst of a big city - in the best way. They are also offering the COVID vaccine and I was touched by how personal and thoughtful the team was to people coming in for their shots when I was there in person recently. Apthorp is a excellent option and I look forward to filling future prescriptions with them!

I had a great experience with this pharmacy during a very difficult time. They went out of their way to ensure that I got my medications on time, which was very time sensitive, despite FEDEX dropping the ball and losing the medications somewhere along the way. Keesha was amazing and was not only empathetic about what I was going through, but professional and made sure I was aware of the whole process. They are consistently helpful and friendly, whether in person or over the phone. I never had to wait on hold or speak to a machine, I always received a real person, which made me feel very cared for and not just a number. I was in their store recently and I also noted how clean and covid-safe they are. I highly recommend.

I have to get my prescriptions here because it’s the only compound pharmacy in the area. But it is legitimately the worse experience every. single. month. There is zero communication, the refills are always late, the delivery never shows up. I have to call 5-6 times in a week just to get 1 prescription filled. I can’t explain how many negative experiences I have had and refrained from writing a review. But here we are. Avoid this place unless you absolutely can’t.

I live on the UWS, so the location was also convenient! Was so grateful to have them, versus having to use a mail order pharmacy (plus Apthorps rates are lower than mail order).

I visited the pharmacy today. I noticed that a female pharmacy worker (perhaps a pharmacy technician), in placing tablets into the pill counter, was directly touching every tablet with her hands. She would take tablets from one container in her hand, and then drop them in the pill counter. She repeated this several times. I notified the pharmacist on duty, who witnessed the technician handling pills with her hands.Pharmacy staff are not supposed to touch the pills that they dispense. They have special tools for removing and handling tablets. Such an action by a pharmacy staff is totally unacceptable. It is a breach of infection control, breach of safe and proper handling of medications and a violation rules and regulations that apply to pharmacies. I am a physician and I could not believe what I saw. I will never visit this pharmacy again and will never send any prescriptions for my patients to this pharmacy.

A new favorite of mine!!!! What a hidden GEM, the selection is amazing and the Staff in the cosmetic area was FANTASTIC. I had a quick touch up and was given a little different look than my usual and I LOVE IT! I have great personalized service from both of the staff and suggestions on a few home fragrances. I could not be happier. Not to mention my dog was with me and they treated him like a KING. Thank you....

Apthorp Pharmacy is fantastic ! Its like having a small town neighborhood pharmacy in the heart of the Big Apple. Well staffed - knowledgeable with attention to detail. The customer service is excellent. There is no reason to use these big chains when you can go to Apthorp.

This pharmacy is great. Yes they do make mistakes occasionally, since there are so many staff working in the very busy environment, but every time they fix it perfectly, and I have no complaint so far. When you buy many medicines (for instance, over $2000 worth of medicines at a time like me), they’ll pack them up for you, but immediately check what you got in the bag, carefully check the receipts.

What a terrible experience Ive had with Apthorp Pharmacy. It was so bad that I just finished telling my doctor so they could steer patients away in the future. I have missed two days of work so far waiting for their package which they never delivered because they had multiple clerical and administrative failures on their end. At first they didnt send the refrigerated medicine at all, and then they sent the refrigerated medicine to the wrong place. And I eventually had to borrow a car and drive an hour to retrieve it myself. It has been incredibly stressful working with them. Based on the stress and ringer they have put me through they dont deserve to be in business. Furthermore, they told me multiple times that I would be hearing from a supervisor and of course, I never did. Please take note and consider ordering your medications from elsewhere. They put me in a really bad situation when they knew it was time sensitive and they are unreliable and unaccountable.

This store has changed FOR THE BETTER, wow I have always enjoyed it for all the little things I just need to run in and grab. But over the last 5 or so months the staff has done a 180, the brands are unique the make-up artist is amazing. Keep up the good work !!!!

I really wanted to like Apthorp pharmacy because I dislike the impersonal giants like CVS. However Apthorp service is mixed at best and doesn’t care about my business (read on).In order to get home delivery refills, you have to fill out an application for a “house account” which has to be accepted. What is this 1954? Anyway, I did it to support my local pharmacy and yet deliveries don’t show up and they can’t seem to do auto refill. Yesterday I refilled a prescription and it never showed up. I called and was told they didn’t send it because I needed an insurance re authorization. Why couldn’t they have called me and told me that? I told the woman that I am having recurring problems with their delivery and service and I came to them to support my neighborhood pharmacy. I said I may as well go to CVS. Her response “that’s fine, you can do that”.seriosuly???If Apthorp cares, I called at 4:44 today. Jan 12. She should be fired.

My wife had to wait here for 45 minutes for her prescription after she called more than 2 hours before to ensure it would be ready. Pretty pathetic customer service, and not so much as a sorry from the team there. If there were any other option for her medication we would go elsewhere. They’re a “boutique” pharmacy, which apparently means “terrible service” in French.

These are real, reasonable, and polite people who treat you like a human being, and go out of their way to help you. Its far and away the best pharmacy Ive ever used.

This is the pharmacy that saved me from a complete disaster. I was provided with medication that needed a specific catrige to be used in conjunction with the med! Multi billion dollar company that takes over every little pharmacy out there (Walgreens) wasn’t able to provide me with the pen because they couldn’t order it. Imagine my frustration. Gave me the drug never gave me the device!!! Mind you I’m restricted to them to get my medications. I can’t go anywhere else with my insurance. After spending 1500$ I couldn’t even use it!!! I called 4 pharmacies in the neighborhood and only Apthorp helped me. They provided the pen to me free of charge! They were extremely understanding and compassionate which is rare today. This is the reason why big corporations will fail every step of the way!! I want Apthorp to prosper and make a difference since multi billion dollar corporations failed us over and over again!!! I want to thank the owner of Apthorp pharmacy! I want to thank the pharmacist on duty and technician you have hearts of gold! Gd bless you all! Wishing you only prosperity and success!

Very friendly staff. They called to confirm the pick up time after getting the perscription called in by the doctor. They filled my perscription same day and also have later hours to make pick up easier.

This place was the worst pharmacy I been.. Mostly staff was rude..no smile.. You will feel like a ball.. They will redirect you to each other.. There was no system.. I would give no star at all if I could..

Snafus happen and one did happen at my docs office. They sent the prescription renewal to the Big Box Store instead of Apthorp. When all was figured out it was Friday night after 7P and the docs office was closed. I got a call from the Apthorp pharmacist who asked.......Mr. Hennessy, do you have enough meds to take you through the weekend? No, I said, Im out. He said........come by the store and well give you enough medication to keep you going, no charge, until we can straighten this out on Monday.........Ok, tell me, ...........would that EVER happen with a big box store..............nahhhhhhhhh? This is why I support small business on the Upper West Side.

I called to ask for meds price and I was talking to lady her name was Jessica she was super rude and she just decided to transfer while i was still talking. and I told the lady who i was transferred to and she just ignored and said what meds you are calling about...? I dont understand why the rudeness but they need to work on that because they just lost my business and I was ready to buy around 700 dollars worth of meds.

HORRIBLE communication with insurence. There miscommunication and mistakes with my insurance company cause a massive overcharge for my medication. To make it worse, their customer service swiftly deminishes when confronted with there mistakes. I deffinatly will never recomend them to anyone.

I had an issue with my insurance and instead of calling me to inform me they waited until I got off work and went to pick up my prescription to find out that I couldnt get my prescription. Even when I was there, I was directed to wait in multiple lines with no one in any hurry to assist me.Terrible service!
