Best salon in NYC. Big spacious. If you want a great precision cut for a man that looks very natural, somewhat unkempt, and free flowing ask for their most senior stylist the one who was a founder. Hes better than great. I have never gotten a better cut.

I am a long time customer at the salon and always see the same stylists for cut and color. The salon has the best talent in my mind and I had recommended the salon to many of my friends.However, I had a bad experience with a stylist Anastasia during my most recent visit.I was there for a color appointment last Friday. When I am done with my color treatment, I was assigned to a stylist Anastasia, she was very rude and disrespectful. She asked how would I like my hair styled. I said natural. When she styled my hair, she made my hair very curly and I politely stopped her and told her it is too much curl for me. She start getting annoyed and quickly dried the rest of my hair straight and left. I asked her to fix the front part she did the first so the front piece would look stright as the rest of my hair. She said they are dry now, and started pulling my hair very hard using her brush, she caused pain on my head and I had to stop her. I discussed my experience with the front desk. And the response I get was “ I am so sorry, we never had any complain about Anastasia, maybe it is a language barrier or maybe she is having a bad day.” I am spechless, you don’t pull customers hair and cause pain if you have a bad day. I never had someone pull my hair and cause pain in a hair salon and I am surprised with the response by the front desk.

Been going - faithfully - for 15 years! The best place for haircuts - especially those with curly and unruly hair! They are experts in all hair types. You won’t leave crying or in a week or two, you won’t have to find another hair cutter to fix it. So very happy! John Barrett is as talented as they come. He and his staff understand and value their clients, and treat them with high regard. They are pros. Check out their new salon - is gorgeous and colorful, with lots of light and good vibes!

Allison Gandolfo is an exceptional colorist. She impresses me time after time. She understands what I want and more importantly what I need. My highlights grow out so well that I can go months without feeling the need to get my color redone. It’s not easy to find true talent but you can find it here with Allison!

Disappointed. Im a new mom and was looking forward to my post baby haircut. My husband gets his hair cut here every 2-3 weeks and has a fabulous stylist. I however had a really rough experience. The man shampooing my hair smelled like he had just chain smoked 19 cigarettes and when he spoke it was like I was engulfed in a cloud of smoke.The hair stylist Myron jabbered on the entire time telling me what I wanted. Not letting me speak or provide insight about what I was looking for. Literally I dont know what he was saying the entire time. He just kept gabbing and grabbing wihout making any sense! The portion I did understand was not welcome. He chided me for not having a haircut recently - um yes as every mother with a newborn knows - our personal upkeep takes a backseat to keeping a new human alive.He spent exactly 15 minutes with me total, constantly looking over his shoulder for his next appointment who clearly was scheduled at basically the same time because she came to sit next to his station at just about the same time that he started on my hair.I dislike my hair cut which is the equivalent of what I could get at great clips except it wouldnt have cost $230 dollars.I was absolutely looking to spend around that but was hoping for a different experience.

I hadnt been to the salon in months and used a new color stylist Megan who was fabulous--she really knows how to use color to enhance your looks. Then, I had a hair cut by Halli - the best. She cut my hair meticulously and she was spot on with the hairstyle that I asked her to create. Im going back, cant wait!

What sort of high end hair salon does not have traps in their hair washing stations? A stud earrings that was worth over 8K literally went down their sink. I was home by the time I noticed. Multiple phone calls later I was told that Yeah... This happens all the time. Well call you if we find anything. SMH.

Most amazing experience! I work next to the new salon on Bowery, and went in with completely damaged over processed hair. John Barrett himself trimmed my hair back to life, and had Ross fix the color. The staff was so friendly, and Ross did an amazing job. Still a long work in process, but I am so happy with the way it is turning out!!!

Gina at John Barrett has time and time again fixed my horrible hair nightmares and made me beautiful again. She is absolutely incredible at what she goes and I cannot say enough amazing things about her, and the rest of the JB staff. The experience at John Barrett is the best of the best. Nothing compares to the quality of care and passion they put into your hair, especially Gina! Worth every penny and every trip to NYC.

This place is fantastic as always. Ross is my go to for color. He is a pleasure to work with and I trust his every decision. I get my hair cut here, too. Vincenzo cuts my hair. He is amazing. He listens to what you want and translates that vision everytime perfectly. I have never left unhappy. Life long client right here. Also, the new space is glorious. Less stuffy and so in inviting. Love it!

I recently took a HUGE risk and cut off 11 inches of my hair to donate to Locks of Love. Now, I havent had short hair since I was 12 and I HATE short hair and LOVED my long hair, but I decided that since it was for a good cause, I would make the sacrifice. There was no salon that I would entrust with such an important task other than John Barrett.I had such a great experience at this salon. Kayley was very friendly, super nice and very experienced. I came after work so the salon was pretty empty and very relaxing. Since I hate short hair, I wasnt expecting too much but was WOWED by the way my hair turned out. I liked that Kaley pushed me to layer it a bit instead of going for a straight bob. I love this haircut so much, that Im even thinking of keeping it short for a little while longer instead of growing it out immediately.I highly recommend John Barrett Salon and Kayley!

I have been coming to the salon for many years. First, you cannot deny the expert haircare you will get. These stylists are the best of the best. Second, the location is stunning. It is luxury personified - although, there is no attitude here. If you can, get Barrett himself to cut your hair - he is a master. For color, I highly recommend Allison. She is extremely talented and sought after - think celebs and socialites. Like the blonde color on that model? She probably did it. Disregard the negative reviews - there is always a malcontent - and trust me - a longtime client - this is the best you will do for yourself and your hair!

Horrible experience being employed by John Barrett. It took 5months to be fully compensated. Awful, condescending people running the operation.

As soon as I reached the top floor of Bergdorf’s at the John Barrett Salon, I was a greeted as if by friends seeing a long overdue guest... if these friends lived in a beautiful penthouse and they all happened to be the New Yorks best hair artists (stylist just seems inadequate).I started with José who did some light coloring. José is the top colorist in town and he is also incredibly sweet and enjoyable to be around. After what seemed like only minutes chatting and putting in die he was finished. José lightened my hair in a way that makes people say: “your color is so nice”, without them having any idea that it has been treated. He also put in a product that gave it a really nice shine. He is simply the best.Then I was brought in to be styled by the world famous John Barrett. He is an amazing man that has styled the biggest and brightest and yet is very friendly and easy to talk to. I gave him a few ideas and let him do his work. Before I knew it, I was admiring the finished product and felt ready for the red carpet. He had incorporated what I liked into a tastefully modern cut that is appropriate for my style and personality.Similar to the feeling after a really good massage I felt very relaxed at the end of my appointment. Although, I was excited to get out and show people the new look. The reaction has been universal: very stylish and suitable to me. I could not have asked for more from the artists at John Barrett.
