My mother was almost 4 weeks at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit and passed on the 31st of December. When we were researching I felt very uncomfortable with reviews seen here. I am taking the time to do this review to share our experience. All nurses, doctors, social worker called Maria (wow what a great person and dedicated to her job is Maria), chaplain, maintenance were really great people. The unit has a good staff vs patient ratio in my opinion and they are really about providing comfort. Anyone researching this I know the feeling and I write this to let you know there is a great possibility your loved one will be taken care of properly in this sensitive stage of life. Thank you Vitas and staff and for you reading this researching the best option at your reach I wish you all the blessings and calm in this moment.

This is a puppy mill for sick adults they are about signing up as many elderly as possible ALL ABOUT GETTING PAID. I’ve spoken with 2 RN’s concerning my loved one and they both were rude!!! The doctor and chaplain had bedside manner and very nice the RN nurses who contacted me are the worst have stank attitudes they don’t read patient medical histories they just show up at house so they can be paid by medicare and keep asking the some dumb question “what is going on with your loved one” while my loved one is wasting away.

This place is a death trap. No support for family or patient. They make death feel like your putting your dog to sleep. Every time someone dies they say another one down! My mother in law was traumatized and to hear her calling me every 5 minutes killed me she was scared. My opinion.... They do not care about your family. Watch YouTube videos and check out Google and you will find websites where employees themselves wrote reviews about their experience working here. Trust me they told us one thing and did another makes you suffer even more.

HORRIBLE NO A/C IN ROOM AND NO ONE CARES IVE REPORTED IT TO NURSE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ISNT IT SUPPOSED TO BE A CONFORT ZONE FOR PATIENTS!!!!! WELL I DONT THINK SO. O.M.G R THE REPRESENTATIVE FOR VITAS TOTALLY GAVE ME THE INFORMATION, STATING THAT MY DAD WILL HAVE A 24/7 NURSE BY HIS SIDE BUT THATS NOT TRUE. I do not think its a place like they sell it, as they offer it, its a place where patients are put to sleep, there are workers who are still full of heart and good feelings others do not have scruples and I even think it satisfies them to help die, something that should be checked by specialists, because they are satisfactions of murderers, so I name NORMA a worker of Nicaraguan origin, that since my mom came to Hospice in UM university hospital began to say that it is going to a place for the person to be outside trankila and that the injections would help her, and that her oxygen mask had to be removed and she mentioned a PSALM, and so I instinctively believe that in respect to her relatives, my sister and I, this happened on April 15, 2019, when she returned to entering her new work shift on April 17 at 12 a.m. I asked her to groom her to my mother and if she could put something to make her sleep trankila and she in front of the computer told me that my mother or had only one injection left the other day when the safe doctor came in she put another plan, after she had started her shift she came to the room where my mother was a chaplain that nobody called, it was NORMA who called him so that received, the religious farewell that the gentleman did, between 6 a.m. and 6:10 a.m. the daring, and ill-intentioned NORMA LA NICARAGÜENSE came in and without turning on the light or anything I rested in the armchair next to my mother when she opened her eyes she backed up and in a few moments she came back inside and when I realized she was putting him an injection to my mom without turning on light or anything, I asked her what she was doing and she told me Im giving her an injection and she asked for it and she told me to breathe better and I told her to turn on the light and she told me no no need and then I turned on the light myself and my mom had a gesture in the face of pain the injection that should be applied slowly this woman went fast, I never told her that she will inject it to my mother. after that last last injection it started to turn pale and when they took the pressure he had 3552 (I do not remember the sifra exactly) he had kept without fluid, without serums, without only the mask and those injections and still had kept up with a pressure 120/80, and a good hemoglobin without fever or anything, I asked for water and they would not let me give it to me, my mom died at 10:45 am on April 17, 2019, I ask for justice and that they attend the woman who also told me that she was a registered nurse and I stopped being because HOSPICE calls her, that she feels satisfaction with her work and my question to her wasAnd what do you like more to see die than to save people? And I answer, I enjoy this work, what a horror for God we have to be careful who we give power to these jobs, More I want to thank the love and compassion that have other workers of the site, such as NORA, MILDRE and PATRICIA, amen to work in a place like that, they keep their feelings and a lot of compassion, but I would like you to analyze this woman should not continue in such a place and less give her the power of an injection that decides the life of a human being, I repeat NORMA LA NICARAGÜENSE , clarified its origin. Because I do not know their last name because they never wanted to give it to me when I called to know, I thought I would do the best for my mom and I made the worst mistake I could pay with my life, what sadness in my soul.
