The real name of this company should be opus dont care. If you do not speak and read Spanish forget it, for the sake of your loved one, please look elsewhere. When my mother first entered into Opus palliative care they were great. The main reason that they were chosen for my mother was because of their palliative care program. The plan was that when she was ready for hospice care it would be an easy transition since this company had both. The two shining stars in the hospice care program are Kenia and Bianca. Bianca is their social worker who goes above and beyond anyones expectations. Kenia is the day shift nurse who provides amazing Loving Care to your mother as if she were her own mother. We do not speak Spanish the prescriptions all came written in Spanish. This was a problem that we requested several times to be fixed but it never was.We were told when my mothers condition worsened to call the number for opus care and someone would come quickly. When this happened we called the number three times and it took them over an hour to show up to our home. When the nurse or whatever he was, showed up he never said a word to anyone he just asked where was the morphine in Spanish of course. He did not engage with any family members at all ,he simply gave her morphine every hour when we reminded him to do so. Another nurse we guess joined him who this guy was actually training if you can believe that. So now all they did was sit at the kitchen table talk Spanish among themselves and look at their laptop. A few hours later as the night progressed another personnel showed up and never identified himself either and gave my mother, who was in her last hours of life, the roughest foot to head assessment we had seen yet.He pushed on her stomach lift up her breast lifted her arm and hand so that it would flop on her and all this in front of all the grieving family members. I personally had to walk out of the room when he tried to push my mothers faithful companion her puppy, off the bed. I left the room because I was so enraged that I felt like I would do something I would regret later. As the night ended and the sun rose mother passed away with all her loved ones present. At that point I walked out of the room and told this idiot that his patient was dead. This so-called nurse had the family members who were grieving doing everything for him pouring morphine and lorazepam into diapers? Calling the funeral home for him? I thought our only jobs at this point was to mourn. They still have not picked up any of the medications that were left here with the Spanish labels on them. That would be including the 16 oxycodone. If you love your family member do not even consider this hospice company!

My experience was horrible, my mother had Covid 19 and my experience with Opus was to them my mother was only a billing account; I called their doctor several times insisting she had something in her intestine or stomach they didn’t do anything and she died soon after I change her to another Hospice Care it was too late.... They don’t listen instead they fight you all the way instead of helping the patient. Or they want you to move the patient to a private home so they can billed more money. She died due to their negligence combine with the Covid -19 sending nurses just to visit the patient with no action. I gave them a “1” because of the ladies that came to change her diaper. “0” to the company or the owner. My mother died on October 25, 2020. Research before putting your love one in the hands of this companies that only Carr about “billing” like they express to me over and over !

Great, caring personnel. My mother has been on this program for the last 3 years. Care is excellent. She has a nurse that visits her every day , and when she goes to the hospital, someone is always there with her keeping me informed. The director is always available to help. She has helped me many times.Great, Great service.I wish there were more programs and caring people, like the ones at Opus.I would certainly recommend this program.

Do Not Use Them unless you speak Spanish, and even then I would not recommend them. They did not adequately explain or guide us through my mothers death. Twice, I had to call their main number to complain that a nurse could not explain what was going on due to the language barrier. The last straw was when they sent a nurse who spoke NO English when it was clear she was close to dying. How is that acceptable when it clearly said that we only spoke English? The continuous care nurses were nice, but could barely communicate with us.

OpusCare provided services to my mother-in-law. There are no words to express our gratitude. The nurses that took care of her were amazing, compassionate, kept the family informed at all times, gave us our privacy when needed. During this difficult time we couldn’t have asked for better service. We are so very thankful for Opus.

From the beginning until the end, the hospice care provided by OpusCare was exceptional. Having made the decision to bring my husband home,I contacted a very compassionate OpusCare representative who arranged for immediate delivery of the necessary equipment as well as equipment whose need was anticipated. The medical staff who treated my husband was knowledgeable and extremely caring. Whenever a problem arose, they responded immediately. Medications that proved very beneficial were delivered to my home in a very timely manner. The kindness and professionalism shown by the team was exemplary.OpusCare gave me the support I needed during a very difficult time, and for that I am very grateful.

The Opus team has been amazing! They are loving, caring, and professional. My 95 year old dad has lung cancer and has been under the care of hospice several months. There have been many close calls when we thought we would lose him-but he pulls through and is stable!Last February he became severely weak and dehydrated-( due to diarrhea)-he ate very little, he could not speak, and blood pressure, blood sugar were uncontrollable. The hospice doctor and nurse advised us to take him to the hospital. We had him taken to the hospital and even though they found that his cancer had grown - the hospital staff were able to help him with IV fluids. After three days my dad came home and we thought our time with him was coming to an end. He was very weak, barely ate, and was no longer able to walk.God was not ready to take him, because he recovered and was himself again!Although he can no longer walk, my dad is still with us and strongly hanging in there. He is a fighter.I am thankful for the Opus physician and nurse, that urged us to treat his dehydration. I know we would have lost him too soon had they not recommended we take him to the hospital.. I know my dad baffles them and he is the exception in these circumstances, but they have been amazing in every way.I am so thankful for this great team of professionals. I highly recommend Opus.

My mom suffered from Lewy Body Syndrome and we hired OpusCare to help care for her. We were sceptical about an outsider being able to care for mom the way we would but it became painfully clear that we could not do it alone so we tried it.Once we engaged, the support and attention we received from OpusCare was more than we could ask for. The care givers were caring, attentive, and even ensured that we, as family, remained engaged in my Mom’s health. For several years, my Mom was treated like a queen and the staff became more like family.Mom passed away a few weeks ago and we are hurting really bad but find comfort in that she was treated with the best and dignified care possible.Although we hope to never need these services again, should we ever need to, there will only be one choice for us, OpusCare.Thank you OpusCare. The Fernandez Family

The service is presented in a manner that a Nurse practitioner will coordinate pallative care with family aswell as the PC.My father at 94 was doing relatively well.He had dealt wth a couple of serious UTI infectionsHe responded well to a prophylactic low dose bactim regimen.Only one medical professional concurred with that option. It was surgery or potentially deal with Septis ! Really ?The most arduous of tasks was coordinating doctor visits , transportation, aswell as, long waits in physicians offices. It was more detrimental to my fathers well being whereas, i refused to torture my loved one further. The PC had a avalanche of current detailed precise medical data, from three concurrent emergency rm visits. His PC still demanded to see him in person for any ailment whatsoever. That is where Opus came into play.I was under the impression, they would streamline the process, with organized visits.I Was Wrong !! Anything out of the ordinary....from nail fungus, to a possibility of a routine B12 shot , or coordinating a refill of a basic prescription was impossible !! Ohh you need to call the PC, you need to get a referral to a podiatrist etc.If your looking to have your loved ones blood pressure or pulse taken randomly ,approximately every six weeks or so, this service might work for you.The ten min exams also include..any pain ? or discomfort ? ...Follow up requests or issues often answered with a broken english response of , we cant ,or not permitted ..call the PC, no sense of urgency whatsoever ! Dont like it ? Ohh well !! Eventually they email you a CYA discharge form ! I Give them a ZERO ! Which isnt offered above...Look elsewhere for meaningful help...PS please post any competitors, that offer a much better alternative...Thanks

I need to take a moment to express my dissatisfaction with the Modus Operandi in which OpusCare handled the protocol during the death phase of my dear mother.I know that you sign the authorization to avoid resuscitation by means of the TORÁCICA CARDIOVASCULAR COMPRESSION procedure in the event of a > Eye! I said > because it tends to cause fractures of BONE OF THE STERNON, THE COSTAL CARTRIDGES AND RIBS and it only manages to prolong the life cycle through suffering and its consequences, but I clarify that at no time I was asked if I authorized to supply to try to prevent my mother from entering a TERMINAL STATE phase.THE MODUS OPERANDI.Much to my regret, I have never received a courtesy call by anyone from OpusCare staff, much less explanations and satisfactory answers to my questions. I only hear irresponsible evasions, apologies and more apologies, but the guilt or responsibility makes it fall on the nurse who assisted my mother during her last hours of life. I have asked to meet that nurse, I need to hear from him, listen to his version and there is no human way to facilitate contact. I only know what a FREELANCER nurse is, hired by OpusCare, perhaps through some agency.MY QUESTIONS WITHOUT ANSWERS ARE. . Why were the palliative care not provided? Why is death not avoided without resources to avoid it?Is it because of the fact of having been classified as a hospice patient, it necessarily implies in all cases, to be a patient condemned to die and who must be allowed to die in comfort? I consider this a legal and silent murder. A sentence signed by a doctor or medical body that has simply determined the end of life.Is my mother given morphine during this cycle? Why was the protocol to notify the family member that appears in the records not activated?I understand that someone from the ALF staff where she was in no time into a state of unconsciousness, that she remained alert and in good spirits in the early hours, and even asked for me. If I had been notified I would have been comforted that I had left having seen me, it was not so. If I had been present in those final moments, I would have had the opportunity to call a Catholic priest. Why did they deny us that opportunity? If someone 18 days after my mothers death asked me what my mother died, I would not know what to answer. Another question unanswered. Is what causes death medically certified? If so, how can I get that certificate?Who or whom do I turn to get it?

I had the experience of having hospice service for my mother this past October, only for 7 days. I did not know or imagine that my mothers death would be so fast. What I noticed is the exaggerated attention of putting morphine every hour, that the family members did not talk to the person with Alzheimers disease, in this case my mother, because it made them sick and they made them sick. Not letting one cry next to her because she felt and heard and was going to get impatient, not letting my daughters, older granddaughters, cry and say goodbye because it was bad and the rush to inject her. I saw it a bit exaggerated, and later it was made me to reject it. Even to pray for her, they gave me almost five minutes because she was on morphine. One for not wanting to bring problems or hinder its function, because I did not complain, but I think there should be more consideration on that side. I was not satisfied for that part and for not explaining well at any time, that the person will not drink water or eat when he enters a crisis, even if it is from one day to the next. I think if that was the first thing a family member was told, they wouldnt accept it. Thank you, YB, Miami, Florida
