I have read many of the “reviews” and frankly I am puzzled. Dr. Shockey and his staff have provided me with excellent care over the past 20 years. He takes the time to listen and discuss the problem. He has consistently provided proper treatment and, only when needed, has referred me to a qualified specialist in a very timely manner. I would refer others to Dr. Shockey without hesitation.

I have been going here, mainly for annual physicals, for 15 years. The care is consistently excellent. Medical staff are outstanding. They are very willing to take time to share what they see and to make sure you have plenty of time to ask questions. Highly recommend.

My experience with the front desk today was the worst I have ever experienced with customer service in a long time.I came in to make an appointment since we were just driving by. I wanted to establish a primary care physician and havent done so for 2 years. I just needed to establish a primary care and at first the lady taking the information said you cant be seen without a reason.Then she asked someone else and clarified.....I wanted to pay cash for a visit but I also had health insurance but did not have my card. They took down my information and already I was feeling a bit off because of the attitude of the person taking my information. but it got worse as soon as I said I didnt bring my insurance card...... the manager came and accused me of trying to commit insurance fraud. I was just trying to make an appointment! They could have simply said please call or come back with your insurance card and we could make an appointment.They blatantly said I would be commiting insurance fraud.I feel like these people are rude, obnoxious and feel as if they leave such a bad feeling. It was a terrible experience for just trying to make an appointment.It was for a wellness visit now I feel totally sick 🤮

I’ve been seeing Dr Deva for a couple years now. She is always so sweet and encouraging. She listens to me as a patient and I dont Feel rushed. I have since moved and live 30 minutes away but I will certainly make the drive to see her. The front office staff got me in for a last minute appointment when I needed It for a medical issue. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes. I highly Recommend Dr. Deva

I called to schedule an appointment for a bad cough that was waking me up at night. I was told after being on hold for several minutes that the office would not see me and suggested I go to urgent care due to my symptoms and get treated there and a covid test. I work from home and havent been exposed to covid!!! Shame on you for referring me somewhere else. Urgent Care stated I have bronchitis. Hmmmm...NOT COVID. I will be finding a new doctor. Thanks

This clinic is near my neighborhood and I drive by it every day I come home from work. I need to establish a new primary care provider. I decided to call the clinic today to see if I could establish care with a yearly well visit. The clinic said that they couldnt take me on as a patient if I didnt have a medication to be renewed or coming in with a medical complaint. The scheduler then fished for more information, Do you take medications or anything? I was hoping this would end up being my home clinic for care. I work in the medical field and know that they likely have these rules so that they can make money, but wow, what a missed opportunity for them (I am one of 7 in my young family). Very sad.

I had called ahead of time to confirm that this office accepted my insurance, and they had said they my insurance was accepted. When I came to my appointment, however, I had to pay $104, which I absolutely should not have had to pay according to my insurance plan. I think what may have happened is that the physicians at the practice are registered with BCBS, but perhaps the PAs are not. That said, the person I spoke with on the phone should have told me this information - I feel deceived and very annoyed that I had to pay. I certainly wont be going back. Also their billing specialist is only at the office Mondays and Thursdays until noon.

I have been a patient for 6 years for a good reason! The entire staff doctors, PAs, Nurses as well as front office staff are kind considerate and care about their patients! Doctor Deva is amazing extremely thorough in each exam, she works with you not against you to keep you healthy!

No problem, Im not one to run to the doctors office over nothing, but everyone at this office front desk and staff are efficient they do there job`s well, Doctor Bruce is fantastic, very caring, informative, he talks to me like a friend and explains everything and puts me at ease. My wife is a patient of Doctor Bruce and my daughter and they both think very highly of him. One thing is for sure whether your in a doctors office, Dentist, DMV, CPA, Lawyers office, car dealer, sometimes you might have to wait!

I have been a patient many years. I love this office. The doctors and pas are smart & attentive. I am treated with compassion & my doctor listens to my concerns. The front office staff is GREAT! The medical assistants are Awesome! I realize sometimes there may be a wait but I always get great care. The medical providers in this office take their time with patients. I highly recommend this primary care office!

A patient for 20 years at this practice since i was a kid ...recently had my insurance change and after it was taken two times previously at this practice, I was notified upon arrival at my appointment today that my plan was not accepted and they could no longer help me, which is fine...however, it was the very cold and almost annoyed delivery from the front desk people that disappointed me! I was treated more as an intruding stranger, than a patient! Terrible customer service! Would not recommend to anyone!

If I could give zero stars I would! Stay as far away from this place as possible! They do fraudulent billing, Bill for two exams in one appointment, the billing lady Lupe is extremely rude and laughs at you when you have questions about your billing. This office does not care if you leave and go to another office and do not even try to make things right or understand what you as a PATIENT is concerned with—-very unprofessional! Every single time I go here for an appointment, with in the last two years, I always have a problem of something they bill out incorrectly. When I call to get an understanding Lupe is beyond unprofessional, rude and belittling. She should definitely be let go/fired as she is terrible at her job. I’ve worked in customer service for 15 years and cannot say that anything this office does is acceptable or caring for their patients. It’s unfortunate because Dr. Shockey is an amazing doctor and his office used to be five star and is now dwindling to blow a one star! He should really consider Who his employees are and who are ruining his practice. My family and I (8) Will all be moving and looking for a new primary care physician. All because of their poor customer service, Lupe in particular.

Not good! Be sure to pack a lunch! If you wish to see the doctor at your scheduled time, be sure to arrive early or risk not seeing him/her at all. We called at 11:00 to advise that we would be 5 minutes late for our 11:45 appointment. Upon arrival at 11:50 we were told that because we were late, our appointment was rescheduled to noon. At 12:40, my 89 year old father (the patient) felt he could no longer sit waiting and we chose to leave without seeing the doctor. The RUB? We were THE ONLY ONES in the waiting room. >:-/

If I could give zero stars, I would. Be careful what you say as even mentioning you have a hang nail would classify your visit for an office visit that they would bill you for separately from the physical exams that your insurance covers. They try to blame insurance billing as the problem but the problem is with how the practice bills for even mentioning you have an existing condition that you already know about, which is brought up by question during a normal physical. I mean its 80 bucks and I can pay easy but it is the principle behind their customer service and how and what they decide to charge for. Find another place.

The staff is amazing. The front desk staff are welcoming and quick at getting you checked in for your appointment. They helped me when I called to set up my first visit and explained where they were and where to get all the forms ahead of time. The office is clean and inviting. It is worth the wait to see Dr. Bruce (if there is one). Hes pleasant and listens to everything that is going on. He makes sure the problems Im having at that time are taken care of. He really does go the extra mile for his patients. I highly recommend him and any of the doctors there.

Great first experience! Dr Bruce was wonderful and spoke to my son plainly and truthfully. Receptionist was pleasant and the medical assistant who gave my son his immunizations was funny and very nice. Yes, we had to wait a while to be called back, but as someone who has worked in the primary care industry I am very familiar with the problems facing primary care doctors these days. Lower reimbursements and higher costs mean they have to stuff in as many patients as they can. Its a small office to pay for a great doctor!

This office has gone down hill in the past 7 years that I have been a client. Yes the office is clean and neat and the front desk is amazing but the female doctors and Physician assistants are lacking in knowledge and patience, and know, if you tell them how you are feeling, they put down in their report what you say and then they claim it as a diagnosis and charge you extra. I am very disappointed and will be taking my business else where as well as any further recommendation that I may have given.

The staff and docs at our family practice have always been great! Recently I had made a call nearing the end of the week to get my sick boy into see Dr. Dev, and Lynn was gracious to get us in before the weekend! The staff greeted us with smiles, the waiting room was clean and we were were seen by Dr. Devabhaktuni within minutes. My wife always complains I ask too many questions but the doctor and the staff always treat my family with care and take the time to REALLY address my questions and concerns. Keep it up Brown Rd. Family Med!!

I have never felt so disrespected attempting to give my business to what was once a great doctors office. I will not return nor will I refer a single person to ANY of these doctors.

I have been seeing Dr. Shockey for over 20 years. Great Dr. He does and wants the best for you even if it is finding the right Dr. for your problems.His new practice is very stunning and welcoming. There is some long wait time to see him but believe it is worth the wait. His nurses always call me back by the end of the day and always help getting refills in a timely manner. Great place in my opinion.

Made an appointment for my daughter to be seen for a sever case of dermatitis over a week ago (her arms are cracked and bleeding). I received a call from “Katie” the office manager saying that my daughters appointment needed to be cancelled due to a scheduling issues. I explained I live over an hour away and the severity of her need and was told the Dr she is scheduled with has a new baby so she can’t work more than half days and can’t be “overwhelmed “. This is not the first issue that I have had with the front office staff but it is the most impactful on our lives. To watch your child suffer while you deal with rude and disrespectful staff is disheartening. I think that Dr Bruce is an phenomenal physician but the process with the staff is so exhausting that we will be finding a new physician. I understand not wanting to overwork your Docs but if the appointment is made it should be your responsibility to keep these appointment and deal with the internal error internally and not cause the patient any further issues. When I informed Katie I would be writing a review she replied “Well, if you’re going to do that then we wouldn’t want to see you in the future”. Note to Katie: If you are actually genuine and polite with patients as well as trying to go the extra mile to mitigate the issue your reviews would probably be a lot better.

I went in for an abscess. I had to bring two young children (my husband is deployed) in and Dr. Bruce and his assistant were kind, courteous and helpful to not only me but my babies. He answered my questions and I didnt feel rushed. I also would like to add, Dr. Bruce was a little behind in schedule and he apologized twice which was really nice to hear and unnecessary because things happen. The office staff was also amazing and got me in quick due to being in discomfort.

Im kind of shocked by some of the reviews that I read regarding Brown road family medicine. Ive been a client there for 15 plus years and I have to go to the clinic monthly. I sometimes do not get in exactly when I am scheduled, unless I scheduled myself either first thing in the morning or first thing after lunch. I do get to speak with the physicians and physicians assistants ,whomeverI asked to visit with and they spend time with me to fully understand why I am there; this personal attention may explain delays. For my monthly testing, I am greeted on time-tested and out the door always within the allotted time frame. Im not a VIP client with Dr.Shockey, but my wife is and her treatment and care is impeccable. I am usually treated by PA Derickson but Ive also seen dr. Dev and every doctor in the office because they can fit you in when you are really sick. Again Im sorry for those who had other situations at this office but I could not recommend it more highly.

It says they are open until 5pm today (Friday). I call to make an appointment and the receptionist said they left at 1pm.I cant say how awful this place has been the four times I have been there. Its very hot in the waiting room every time. You arrive for your appointment, and then have to wait over an hour to be seen.

I just had a gal call me to confirm my appointment for tomorrow. She also needed my insurance ID# I read what was on the card. She said it wasnt valid. Asked me if it was a local Blue cross blue shield? I told her she can see it in the morning. She said, no I need to verify it before my appointment. I have had this appointment for 25 days.

I am a retired nurse and have been going to Brown Road Family Medicine for over 5 years. I see Dr. Laufer. In my professional opinion he is great. He discovered my cancer and was quick to get it taken care of. He has always been friendly, professional, and on top of things. I could not be more pleased. My wait time has always been normal for most doctors offices.

Just stay away from here, please. Terrible first time experience and I am happy to add my last! To start, the front office ladies were what I consider borderline rude and unapproachable. Second, Dr. Diva comes off as a sweet young lady, but found her to be very inexperienced and not logical (she just walked out after a few minutes meeting with me too) She didn’t want to prescribe a $4 prescription through my network (I asked her to contact my previous doctor in California) but instead refers me to a private clinic (that doesn’t take insurance) to get the prescription that will cost me over 20x more. Yeah, that’s real smart doc! That was enough for me to realize I’m not dealing with the sharpest knife in the drawer. What a waste of a doctor’s visit.

I was a first time patient at this office today. I was absolutely impressed by how welcomed and cared for I was made felt. Both Yadi and Doc Jeremy made my visit wonderful. Both took their time and listened to my needs. I will recommend family and friends here because of these two amazing people who are true examples of Medical Staff who love their jobs and helping people. Had a charge from Sonora Quest labs. Doctor Shockeys office said they billed it the way they always do. Was supposed to be billed as Preventive. But was not. United Health Care just wanted it resubmitted as that but the doctors off said they will not resubmit or call United Health Care to hash it out. One person told me to bring them a copy of the bill and they would resubmit it. The next 2 I talked to said no they would not. United had to place a call to them. They said they will review resubmitting it. We will see what happen. Regardless of what happens I will be going else where to find another family doctor. I dont need to be lied to.

Worst experience I have had seeing a doctor. Did not address any of my concerns, did not ask me any questions related to my health, did not even examine me. Scribbled two referrals for specialists and literally told me We only schedule 15 min appointments, if you have other stuff you want to talk about youll have to schedule another appointment. Over half of my appointment he spent talking about something completely unrelated to why I was there. I left feeling completely dismissed and discouraged to seek further medical care. Complete waste of my time, and I was not provided the service I paid for at all.

Ive only been to the office twice. The first time as a new patient I waited 2 hours to be seen. Thankfully the doctor was very thorough and took the time to get to know us. Today I had a 4 oclock appointment and asked the front desk when we would be seen and they kept saying youre next. I understand if they are running behind. Just let me know its not going to be another 2 hrs. The front staff is extremely rude but are more than likely jaded cause it seems like they always run behind. Just frustrated. Maybe should have went to minute clinic.

This office is terrible at diagnosing! If it is anything out of the text book symptoms they are unable to figure out the problem. Not only are they useless on diagnosing, but their office staff is no good. I had to try all day, leave three different messages to get someone to call me back. When they did finally call me back, they said they couldnt just give me a prescription (it was not for AB, it was a antifungal). They needed to see me. Which is just crazy. On top of that, they couldnt see me until the following day! I am in serious discomfort/pain. I think this is unacceptable, and on top of numerous misdiagnosis, I am leaving this practice. I have given them years of chances, and they are just not a good Office.

Been going to Dr shockey many years. Im not part of his vip patient care, so I dont see him. Since his office has gone to vip care its been just a very unpleasant experience each time I go, or when I talk to assistants on the phone. BEWARE, from someone who has been going here a while. If I could give this office a zero I would. Very exhausting!!!!!

I see Dr. David Bruce, and he is, by far, the best PCP I have ever seen. He takes the time to truly listen to what is going on, discusses options, gives his best recommendation, etc. I have always felt that he genuinely cares about me as a patient, which is why he will continue to be my doctor!

My wife and my four daughters have gone to brown road family medicine for years. so today, me, the sole bred winning member of our family, who hardly ever gets sick and have never needed to see these doctors and has no personal health insurance anymore (thank you obamacare) desperately needed to get an urgent appointment with the doctors who again have been caring for my family for years, was told that as a new patient I would have to wait for over 2 weeks to see a doctor. F U Brown road family Medicine! I believe that you have forgotten the FAMILY part of the name of your medical mill house.When the receptionist thought the appointment was for 1 of MY FAMILY members that have been there before, she offered a same day appointment. This office is terribly run and incredibly rude. The office staff is incompetent and uncaring. The care providers are unresponsive. I know that may sound like hyperbole, but each time Ive gone into the office the front desk person has been condescending, hardly looks up to acknowledge those checking in, never says thank you youre welcome or even please. In fact, one of the ladies was visibly bothered and exasperated that I would ask to borrow her pen! Ive tried to turn their frowns into smiles by being exceptionally kind and full of smiles, but that doesnt work. Its been the same each time.One time I needed specific blood work done, a referral was written up by the doctor and he sent me somewhere else to have the blood drawn (apparently you cant use their in-house service unless its accompanied with an office visit the same day, and I was not informed I had to fast prior to my appointment). After fasting, I drove to another location and had blood drawn. Following the draw, I wanted to verify the proper test would be done. The phlebotomist checked the referral and said the doctor had not written for that specific test to be done, but a handful of others. He explained that the needed test could not be done with the blood vials he had used. I had go back to the doctors office, get a new referral, then get blood drawn again on another day! That was the only reason I had gone to the doctor in the first place! So much for an engaged, listening, and understanding healthcare provider.The straw that broke this camels back just happened this week. I called to get an appointment for a simple MRI referral after injuring my back, currently in extreme, acute pain. Its a known fact that they have no radiography or MRI technology in the office. Therefore, they would make me drive to the office in pain, wait again in pain, then finally let me see the doctor, only to be handed a referral to go somewhere else! Ive already visited them with the SAME problem a few months ago and they gave me a referral for an xray....that information should be easily found in their patient charts. Since Im having another MRI done this weekend for another procedure, I asked if they would be willing to call in a referral to scan my back at the same time. The woman on the phone was bothered by my asking questions, and simply said, Youll have to talk to someone else. She transferred me to a voicemail where I left a detailed message, describing my predicament and the terrible acute pain (8 or 9 on a 1-10 scale). My message was left Monday morning. They didnt call me back until Thursday afternoon! The only thing they said was, You have to see us before well get you a referral, but, of course, they dont have any time until next week. Luckily, I found the help I needed at an Urgent care clinic - a scary place to go for health care, but at least they respond to the needs of patients!Unacceptable, unprofessional, and an offense to patient care and service.

One star for the office has a beautiful setting but Dr Shockey (owner) is rude and does not personify the mission of the practice. He has no interest in understanding the source of the problem and wants to treat all symptoms with a prescription pad. I have worked in healthcare for 20+years and I must say this by far has been the worst customer service I have experienced in any industry.

Ive been going to this office for over four (4) years and the front office staff has always been unprofessional and very rude. I only continue to go to this office because its hard to find a good doctor and I really like mine. Today I called the office and Heather told me that my insurance is terrible. I know my insurance isnt the best but its what my employer provides. Being that I work for Maricopa County I would think that several people have this terrible insurance and probably arent belittled by the staff at their doctors office. Im very disappointed and offended by this staff member. I will no longer be a patient for this office.

You will always have to wait over an hour to be seen. The last time I was there almost 2 hours...Ridiculous!!! The front desk person was rude. I asked what lab I needed to use and she said I would have to call my insurance. All my doctors offices have always gives me a map of different labs that are covered by my insurance. Highly unresponsive to phone calls. Often a second or third call is required to get someone to return calls. Wait time in waiting room is outrageous. Ive had two appointments within the last year where my complaints were blown off by one of the doctors saying I needed PT. The first of these ended up with an ER visit and a two-week stay in the hospital for blood clots in my legs (Deep Vein Thrombosis). Several weeks ago I was told to get PT for weakness and dizziness and now I need to see a cardiologist, if I can get the doctor to call me back with a referral.

Reception staff are EXTREMELY rude! I called to make an appointment as a new patient. As the receptionist was taking my information she was rude and short. When I told her the reason I needed the appointment she asked why I didnt go see another doctor. At that point I told her dont worry about the appointment; that I would have my insurance provider to provide me a new PCM. If this is the experience trying to make an appointment then I could imagine what it would be like actually seeing the doctor.Oh and lets not forget when I first said I needed to make an appt. the receptionist asked for my date of birth only and assumed I was another person and asked if I was them by their full name instead of asking for my name. I guess patient privacy does not mean much to this clinic.

My husband has been a patient with Dr Laufer since he was a kid so once we got married I made this my primary doctor as well. I must say this is the worst practice I have ever dealt with. Dr Laufer is amazing, but practically every other person on the staff there are rude and treat you like youre an inconvenience to them. My biggest issue is the wait. The 4 times I have been there I have waited over an hour past my scheduled appointment. My husband has had the same experience numerous times. We have decided to leave this practice and my advice to you would be to avoid going here as well. I hope one day Dr Laufer has another practice where this isnt the way its run. :(

WARNING - AVOID THIS PRACTICE! I only give Brown Road Family Medicine 1 Star because there is not a selection for 0 Stars!This is quite possibly the worst practice in Mesa. The office staff are very condescending, rude and unprofessional. Average wait times are very long; sometimes more than an hour. You will wait an hour or more to see the doctor for 5 minutes or less. Its truly a turn em and burn em environment. There is no diagnosing; just a quick exam and a slap on the rear. Dont expect to get quality care here.Billing is another issue. I have BCBS and TriCare. Every single time, they could not get the insurance billed correctly. Every claim from their services was kicked back by TriCare due to improperly billed services. I would literally have to call the office manager and remind them that BCBS is primary and TriCare is secondary for every single encounter that I had with them. Was so looking forward to establishing a Primary Care Physician and to finally get someone to look at a chronic pain I was having. Sadly, this was the place for neither. I waited over an hour just to see they physician, with NO explanation or apology. The only response I got from Dr. Shockey was that other people took priority over me. This is a Family Medical Center, not an Urgent Care! I took the time to make an appointment and arrive the requested 15 minutes early and the had no problem wasting my time. After I sat in the exam room for another 15 minutes Dr. Shockey made no attempt whatsoever to further investigate the concerns I had and gave me a simple 5 minute exam and referred me to a physical thereapist for 4 weeks to reverse a chronic problem Ive been having for YEARS. I was not taken seriously, I was not appreciated, and I WILL NOT ever return here. When he was done he simply walked out without telling me where to receive any type of discharge papers. As a new patient I had nothing left to do but leave when I was ignored by the reception staff. This office is overbooked and obviously cannot handle new patients, and it isnt even snow bird season yet. I am beyond dissapointed and look forward to establishing a relationship with a PCP that cares less about the volume of patients, and more about the quality of care.

If you’re not part of their M.D. VIP program you can plan on waiting at least an hour every time you come in for an appointment. Even first thing in the morning.

Here we are sitting here waiting to be seen. My husband had an appointment @ 945 and its now 1030 havent been called back. What a joke. Looks like we will be looking for s new place to go.
