Dr. John Lacey is a poor pathetic example for a healthcare professional yet along for a DOCTOR who made an oath to care for people. My sister was so excited to finally get some answers and Dr. Lacey turned his back on her because she was a difficult case. She just turned 39 two days ago and was admitted back into the hospital last night. I hope you don’t sleep at night knowing what you did to my sister!

I was a Patient here for several years. I haven’t been seen in over a year. I go to Er and found out I have a mass on kidney. I’m in a ton of pain. Call and make an appointment, the office made the appt for me, the office called two days before to confirm the appt but when I get there they say they cancelled it and dismissed me from practice due to no shows from a year ago that I didn’t even know I had to be honest. I am doubled over in their office in pain and they would not see me. They showed me they sent something by certified mail to an address I haven’t lived at in years. I’ve had surgery with them since I’ve moved. Someone who wasn’t me signed for the letter and it shows that it wasn’t me. They could’ve seen me knowing I was in that much pain. Now I have to wait weeks to be seen by someone else

I had been going here for 15 years to see Dr. Klein until he retired. Was turned over to an NP named Amber Wieniewitz. She had an odd demeanor, was dismissive, knew nothing at all about IC, and seemed like it was a bother for her to be in the room. One exact quote when I asked if a certain pain was normal for IC was, there are other organs down there. Not a yes or no, or let me check it out. I highly suggest getting a real Urologist and to stear clear of this NP.

My original review on Dr. Lacys page was removed very quickly. I will be brief and share my experience which has not been very good .Office does not return calls to my home health nurse and I developed a bacterial infection due to not addressing my situation. They did not review my case before returning calls and offering solutions, solutions that they themselves have already used. When I voiced my concerns to Dr.Lacy he told me I could go somewhere else if I was unhappy instead of accepting responsibility. Even going so far as to say my concerns were not true I feel this is unacceptable and unethical, doctors take an oath when starting practicing medicine .Since my last visit and the original review I did get a referral to Vanderbilt from Dr.Lacys office and this is a step in the right direction on my road to recovery so I am grateful for that. I will add that Ive been a patient at this office for 2 years under Dr. Pickens care. My situation was not as critical under him and he cannot help me in this but Ive been overall satisfied with him . I havent agreed with how they handled everything but he is ,in my opinion a better listener and I felt he was more concerned about my healthcare.

I was referred to Dr. Amber by my primary care doctor. She explained everything and has started with many very helpful medications and easy procedures. I liked her office nurse and found them to be very responsive.

Dr. Pickens performed the surgery for my kidney donation. He was friendly, informative, and made me feel at ease about the operation. Surgery went smoothly and I am thankful that I had such an amazing team throughout the entire process. Many, many thanks to the Living Donor and Urology staff at University of Tennessee Knoxville!

I have visited this Urology department three times since February. The nurse practitioner, Amber Wieniewitz, was extremely impersonal every time. I was essentially told that I was overreacting to the health issue I was experiencing, and that I just needed to go home and stop worrying about it. She was dismissive of concerns I was expressing and offered no further information to calm any worries that I was experiencing. Today I received a bill in the mail stating that my insurance was not covering my visits, despite being told every time I visited that I had no payments I needed to worry about. I find it hard to believe that they were not aware of the fact my insurance was not covering my visits for over three months now. I have spent less than 30 minutes total in this office across three visits, my health issue has not been resolved to any degree, and now I owe $600 for having wasted my time visiting this office.

I see 8 different specialists in Knoxville, 6 being at UT. I have never encountered a more incompetent office in my life! They never return calls, they never answer the phone, Dr. Pickens tells you he is calling in an antibiotic, never does, you call and it takes weeks to get in touch with them, they say they are calling it in, it never happens. They scheduled a test and gave me an appointment. I drive an hour and a half to get there, fill out paperwork AGAIN, wait 30 minutes and they tell me they wanted me an hour early, but never mentioned it on the phone! Not a single person there is friendly or even nice, from the front desk to the Doctor! I have serious urology issues, but I will never go back. I am looking for a real Doctor with courteous medical staff! I will do without before ever returning to that office! Save yourself the trouble, look elsewhere!

I cant say enough about how good this group is! I can attest to Dr. Wesley White, he is caring, and goes the extra mile for his patients! I can only say if the rest of the group is as good as Dr. White, you will be in good hands!

This one star review is the reflective of Dr. Kim and not the entire University Urology Team as everyone, but him is pleasant. On my first visit with Dr. Kim he struck my wife and I as rude, however our research told us he was the best in the southeast United States for varicocele repair. After the first visit the procedure was scheduled and completed, he stated there would be mild/moderate pain/discomfort for approximately a week, but recovery was quick. This description of the procedure by Dr. Kim matched exactly to the procedure summaries available online. Fast forward 4 days after the surgery, and I was starting to experience the mild/moderate pain in the groin area, this was expected and controlled with medication. On night number 6 I was in extricating pain and was unable to sleep. So thinking something must be wrong I phoned the office to be seen the same day. The staff was able to fit me, Dr. Kim’s resident completed an ultrasound with Dr. Kim observing, Dr. Kim says everything is perfect there isn’t anything wrong with you. I never have varicocele patients return to the office with pain. I explained to him the pain gradually increased starting day 4 post op, and his response was I’m now having to repeat myself, you’re fine. There was more context to the exchange than that however, I’ll be consulting another urologist, something isn’t right or I still wouldn’t be in pain. Trying to go about your day as was if you were just kicked in the groin isn’t pleasant. My wife and I are just trying to have another child and in the process I get talked to as if I’m uneducated and lying. I am so disgusted at how I was talked to and denigrated. Dr. Kim may be a very skilled surgeon, but a little bedside manner goes a long way. Treat others as you want to be treated.

If I could give them a negative number of stars, that’s what I would do. Most unprofessional group of people I have ever had to deal with. I went with a specific procedure that I wanted done, and was continually told they wanted to do something else, even though I said I was totally uninterested in going that direction. My procedure is a one time thing, whereas with theirs, I would have to go back every 6 months or so to have it done again. Biggest waste of time EVER!
