I went to Dr. Holt for a possible MCL tear on left knee. His staff/nurses were amazing. Prompt, courteous, very nice, and, a great sense of humor. Dr. Holt was professional, respectful of my complaint and needs, very thorough. I am extremely pleased with his care, and concern. Dr. Holt also, great sense of humor. I will recommend Dr. Holt to all of my friends, family.

Dr Holt and UOS do not care about your quality of life. After explaining the laundry list of issues with my knee, one of which is no longer having an acl, he then said “the best and easiest option would be a knee replacement”. I immediately jumped on board, and was ready to schedule it. He immediately diverted and have continued to try to milk me and my insurance. If you’re under the age of 50, I 110% do not recommend.

Dr. Holt was great, formed and carried out a treatment plan to help me return to a better quality of life. We will be watching this situation for possible return but already have plan to move forward with additional treatment at that time. He was very prompt getting into the room and took great of me. Im grateful to say that the morning after I have gotten some much needed relief and would recommend him to anyone. Thank you!

The whole visit was extremely pleasant. Immediate check in, no wait. Back in examination room within 5 minutes of my appointment time. Dr. Holt and staff had me set up and out within 10 minutes after that. No wait at checkout. Everyone was so pleasant. Thank you!

Dr Holt was excellent to deal with. I think he is understanding of what the patient is experiencing and willing to try other treatments before doing surgery. My one negative comment is the time wait to see him. I live in Sevierville and it is an hour and a half drive. I hate to be late and drove like a wild man to not be late and then sat there for two hours waiting after arriving on time. Dr Holt apologized and I told him I understand. I am retired and have lots of time to get things done. And, when you are the best surgeon around, everyone want his services. And, it is impossible to just spend 10 minutes with each patient because patient situations are never the same. The 25 years I spent raising Thoroughbred race horses and I needed my vet to come and treat a horse and he told me he would be there at a certain time, I knew he would be late...he always was. And, I could do other things while I was waiting. And, with Dr Holt, it would be helpful that patients would be told it may take 2 hours to see him, most people would be understanding. But, if you are just sitting there waiting for who knows how long, people get upset. People waiting around me were complaining and I just told them thats the way this business is...deal with it.....Dr Holt rocks....I will continue seeking his guidance on my knees...Thank you. This was my first visit, the experience was good. Social distances are clearly marked as are mask requirements. From check in to check out everyone I met was pleasant and helpful.I really like Dr Holt’s manner and clear explanation for my treatment options. Best of all the cortisone injections in my knees didn’t hurt. My dread about these shots had kept me from seeking treatment before so I am extremely pleased there was no pain.

My husband had his surgery over two years ago. He had continued pain even after completing his PT and all exercises as prescribed. He had great range of motion but pain and swelling continued. He was told by Dr Holt at his initial and subsequent visit around six months later they he just needed more time. He was told to come back at a year and that they were sure it would be all good. At a year, he returned with increasing pain with walking and asked Dr Holt if an MRI might show that something was wrong. Dr Holt said no and did an X-ray. He then told my husband that his knee joint was all good and that time was all he needed. My husband waited another six months and went back one more time. Dr Holt told him again that all was good and time was his friend. He would fo nothing more. Well we’ve come two years snd a few months and no other Ortho in Knoxville will see him because he had surgery from Dr Holt. So what is he supposed to do but suffer. Dr Holt was highly recommended to us and we were so excited that he would get his knee fixed. Now we are just disappointed and thinking we’ll have to go outside of the Knoxville area in order to get a Dr to see him. Very sad.

Dr Holt and his staff were obviously very busy at the time of my appointment, but their time management ability was next level. Dr Holt provided all the time I needed answering every question. I left with a doable plan to stay active and work around some serious arthritic knee conditions. Im already doing much better!

Dr. Holt spent a lot of time diagnosing the pain surrounding my kneecap. In the end, he determined that there could be an issue with scar tissue from the knee replacement becoming entangled with some nerve endings. From the way I am feeling pain, this makes sense to me. Dr. Holt administered a steroid injection which has reduced the pain considerably, although some pain continues, but its better. The nurses, staff, and technicians, are always prompt, courteous, and extremely professional. I would recommend this practice to anyone.

Everyone was very kind and efficient from check in to check out. Dr. Holt explained everything thoroughly, answered my questions and put me at ease with my upcoming surgery. I’m so glad I made the appointment!

Appointment was for 2:20, but didn’t see Dr Holt until almost 4:00. To be honest, that’s about the time I was expecting. It was well worth the wait. Dr Holt spent more time with me than any other doctor I have ever seen. He explained everything in layman’s terms and answered all of our questions. I will definitely recommend him and UOS to everyone I know.

My experience with the bee charmer is always good...BUT...I was VERY disappointed in the office time. My appt was at 3:00, I arrived at 2:45. I was called to the room at 3:20 and sat in the exam room until **4:15**!! That is TOO LONG to wait, when he spent LESS THAN 10 minutes with me. He is a GREAT doctor in his field, I have been his patient for 26 years...he was 3 years out of med school at the time. Love him...but the time management needs work.

Overall my experience with this office has been wonderful. You all are knowledgeable in your field and its run very smoothly. My only complaint is Ive had trouble a couple of times leaving messages with getting anyone to return my call in a timely Manor. I would recommend you all overall though.

Dr. Holt is the best Dr. He is so nice and hes a pro at the knee injections. So friendly and always answers all questions. He doesnt push surgery. He says, you will know when that knee needs fixed. My son and daughter in law previously worked in the Joint Clinic at UT. They both told me that I had to see Dr. Holt for knee because hes the best! He is!

I was able to get an appointment within a week of calling. Wait time in the office was minimal. Ability to see the doctor, get x-rays and receive treatment went quickly and smoothly. I felt like I had adequate time to talk to the doctor re: my condition and help in evaluating how to proceed.

I am convinced that Dr. Holt is one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the country, and I was totally satisfied with the advice and treatment he provided. However, I have same criticism now I had five years back: the appointment schedule is not realistic. Dr. Holt was 2 hours late in seeing me, which is a slight improvement over the 3 hours I waited in 2015. Surely your computer systems can do a better job of advising patients when they will be seen.

Thanks to Dr Holt for the care he showed me. He knew I was in pain and took the incentive to get me the relief I have needed for a recommendation to get a total knee replacement! God speed Dr. Holt!

Dr Holt is a great communicator. The desk staff go out of their way to tell you hello and be helpful.The lobby NEEDS some taller chairs for big tall people with orthopedic problems!

Although a long waiting in the UTMC Office, Dr. Holt was very thorough and discussed findings well in terms I could understand.

Waited almost an hour for Scheduling because they were short handed. Even under the pressure of trying to help everyone as soon possible they were so kind and friendly! I appreciate that!

I had right knee replaced in March. Every visit to see Dr Holt was very pleasant. He is the greatest. His nurses are all very nice and friendly. I have never had to sit and wait very long. Dr. Holt has given me my life back. I had surgery on July the 3rd 2018. I was in total misery.Both of my Knees were bent inward an totally bone on bone .He replaced them both at the same time. I just came back from spring break at Disney. I was able to walk 6 miles a day.Aaron his P A is wonderful also. What a great team they all are.

Michael Holt saw me a while ago after an MRI verified meniscus tear and surgery about a year and a half prior with another doctor. My insurance had changed and I could no longer see the previous doctor due to out of network. Holt told me the knee was not re-torn and put me on a specific exercise/rehab regimen. He even gave me a handout on copy paper that described the exercises. I did them every day for 6 weeks as instructed verbally and on the detail sheet. My knee was killing me worse than ever before. Holt then LIED and said he never told me to do the exercises daily, despite the fact that it was written down on the paper he had given me and he verbally told me to do so. I was in near disbelief. He also refused to order a new MRI and said there was nothing more he could do. I then went to another doctor at KOC. He ordered a new MRI. The meniscus was indeed re-torn. My new doctor initially advised against another surgery and put me on a different exercise/rehab program. He told me the exercises Holt had me doing were not the correct type of exercises. Since incorporating the new exercise/rehab program the pain has been reduced very significantly to the point to where I dont experience much discomfort. All I can say about Michael Holt is: if you want a doctor who will give you written instructions that match exactly what he told you verbally, then LIE to your face about everything once it dosnt work out, hes your guy. This man is despicable. I would highly recommend staying away.

If I had it to do over again, I would use a different surgeon for my total knee replacement. Dr. Holt spent very little time with me in post op office visits; even though I was experiencing some ongoing pain, and range of motion issues. It appeared to me that his office was being run like an assembly line; at least where I was concerned.

Total knee replacement December 2013. Followed instructions, and physical therapy.16 months later have limited range of motion, very loud clicking when I walk and still have to have knee drained to reduce swelling.Waited for doctor over 2 hours in exam room yesterday before walking out, still have no answers to my questions. Dr Holt gives little attention to patients post op care.

Dr. Holt did a left knee replacement for me in Jan. and I have had excellent results. I would highly recommend him and UT hospital.

My name is Ruben Knight. I had surgery last Friday 6 days ago on a tendon. I was discharged with 10 mg Percocet which was fine for about four days. Now the oxycodone has my bladder so relaxed that I cant urinate without straining so hard it feels like Im gonna blow my hernia I have. I called this morning to try to get something weaker like norco, but havent heard anything and Im afraid to keep taking the oxycodone cause Im afraid if I do, Ill eventually not be able to urinate at all. Wish they would understand Im in pain. Im not one of those people just chasing. The day before my surgery I was given 30 codeine pills and I brought the script back to Dr Sidney the day of my surgery cause there wasnt any point in filling it cause I knew Id be switched to a stronger medicine after surgery. A chaser would not have done that. So, hopefully they get on the ball. Aleve isnt helping at all and Im way over the intake limit on that so I wont be taking anymore of that. Idk, well see.OK, so a few hours later they called me and did write me a new script and changed my oxys to hydros but they made me bring them the rest of my oxys which I always wonder if its legal for them to make a patient do that since it says right on the bottle, DO NOT GIVE THIS MEDICATION TO ANYONE OTHER THAN THE PERSON IT WAS PRESCRIBED FOR. It doesnt say for anyone other than, except people at your doctors office. Kinda makes one wonder if instead of disposing of your narcotics, maybe they take them theirselves. I mean, that is one way of disposing pills. I dont care if they do do it like that but, I always feel like Im doing something wrong by handing someone a bottle of hard narcotics, especially when their on the job at a surgeons office. I know I wouldnt want my doctor to pop some pills then go to cut on someone. Not that they do that, Im sure they dont, but still it does cross ones mind. I mean, how many times have we all heard stories of doctors getting in trouble because they were shooting fentanyl or dilaudid or even propofol before going in to perform surgery??Anyway, at least they did change the script for me, but idk, if I need surgery again, I dont know if I will trust them with my life like I did before. I know its free untraceable opiates for the one I handed it to but it doesnt make me feel any more comfortable with going under the knife by that group. Theres no telling where those pills actually end up. I wish there was some way of knowing if it was really legal for me to give them my Percocets. Id feel much better. Anyway, Im done rambling. Good eve to all. If your reading this before your surgery, Im sure your doctor wont be nodding out and slobbering all on you while your sedated. Just pray you dont wake up half way through the surgery and confess your deepest secrets and have no memory of it as I apparently did lol.
