Just wanted to share my interaction with the folks at Parkway Dental - in case anyone else is considering using them as their regular dentist. Back in the beginning of June, I went in and had a molar removed as it was causing me extreme pain. The tooth was pulled leaving a huge hole in my mouth and I was sent out the door with absolutely NO instructions for after-care. All I was told was that after I got my tooth implant, I could come back to them to put the crown on.After visiting another dentist to see about about getting a tooth implant 5 weeks after the extraction, I came to realize that I had actually caused more damage by using a water-pic. Remember, I was never given ANY instructions about what I should or should not be doing after my tooth was pulled. I had to undergo a bone graft because of this as my hole did not heal properly. At the beginning of August, I called Parkway Dental and informed them I was leaving their practice - they never asked why - and I asked them if I had a credit or debit on my account so we could settle up. I was told I had a credit of $185, which I asked them to send to me.I just called this morning because I hadnt received my refund yet - and I was told that my balance was now $0 - and they didnt owe me anything!I also checked to see what my insurance was charged and they coded it as a surgical extraction. This was NOT a surgical extraction, they numbed me up, yanked on the tooth long enough to get it to come out and did nothing more - no stitches, no nothing. So, I do believe this is what is called insurance fraud.Seriously???? Beware of dealing with these people - document everything.

Its almost impossible to get someone to answer the phone when calling during business hours. Its also equally impossible to receive a return phone call when leaving a message. Very unusual.

This was the worst experience I have ever had in a dental office. I was told I needed two crowns and had to endure over a month of constant pain, antibiotics, two rounds of steroids, and frequent trips to fix their subpar temporary crowns which resulted in time off from my work. I am still having issues and a different dentist said the permanent crowns don’t even fit properly, which is why I am still having issues 6 months later. Do not go to this practice! They do not know what they are doing.

This is the best dental office Ive ever been to. The front staff are extremely nice. The hygienist are amazing with their work, and they take time to comfort you and you can tell they care about their patients. I met with Dr. Prout and he is an awesome down to earth guy that also cares for the patients. I can tell all of this just from having my first exam. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a new office to go to to try this place, you will not be disappointed.

Receptionist greeted me warmly. I was taken back in a timely manner. Teeth cleaning was thorough. Jessica was very informative and friendly. Dr. Prout was objective and realistic about any future work that was needed; it is one filling that needs replaced. The filling was getting soft after being in over 30 years.

Note: I have not seen a dentist in about 12-15 years due to no dental insurance. So finding a dentist was a scary thing! That being said I have been to Parkway Dental several times in the past year and I love it each time. The staff is incredible and super nice, Dr. Lovely is down to Earth and helpful! I would recommend this office to anyone. Thanks Parkway Dental for your great service.

This clinic does not open on Friday and has 24-hour appointment cancel policy. I had an emergent situation and could not make my appointment on Monday. Because it didnt open on Friday, I could not reach the office on the preceding Friday and had to wait until Monday morning to cancel the appointment. They charged me $36 for cancelling the appointment on the same day although my appointment was around 1pm.When I saw my bill and called the clinic, they didnt listen to my explanations. The person said I could have called on Thursday to avoid paying $36. For a regular visit, I paid $10 copay. For a cancelled appointment, they charged $36. You do the math...Like other patients said, if the clinic suggested you expensive tooth cleaning, they dont allow you choose regular cleaning. It seems that they care about money more than patients and patients feelings.

My family and I went for our routine cleanings. We were told that we needed special more expensive cleanings. We decided that since our previous dentist (we were with him for 20 years) always complimented us on our dental hygiene and never felt we needed upgraded cleanings, wed just get the routine cleanings we were used to. Parkway Dental REFUSED to do so and told us if we didnt get the more expensive cleaning, then they would not treat us at all! Our appointments were canceled.

Two thumbs up for my dental hygienist, Marlena, and my dentist, Dr. Prout. On top of being extremely competent, they are kind and approachable. They discuss options openly with you so that you can make informed decisions about your oral health. Everybody is very polite, and the clinic is fully equipped to offer the best treatment possible. These are some of the reasons why I always walk out with a super smile :)

Parkway Dental is Fantastic. I had some major apprehensions because I hadnt been to a dentist in several years for a cleaning, I have a lot of work that needs to be done, and Ive never worked with insurance before. Every member of the staff was patient and sweet; the hygienist made sure I didnt feel bad about having to get extensive cleaning; the receptionist patiently explained how they work with insurers and made sure I was aware of my options to pay as little as possible. Parkway was quick, efficient, and HIGHLY professional - something thats hard to find most places anymore. The offices were clean and comfortable (and they *actually* had up-to-date magazines, if thats important to anybody). I cant say enough about how sweet they all were and how they epitomize Southern charm!

I am a hygienist myself and have worked and known many dentists and hygienists throughout my career. I trust Dr Prout with my dental work and Tara with my cleanings. The office staff is always nice and courteous when I am in there. It is also very nice to receive contact while I am away from their office such as birthday cards and reminder cards. I could not ask for a better place for my dental care.

I came in for a very slight tooth ache or what I thought was a tooth ache. After x-rays and testing the dentist did not find a cause and gave me two options: wait and see or remove some old fillings and replace. I chose to wait and see. Why I am satisfied - there was NO pressure to remove the old feelings. I know I need to do that one day, but when there are clear signs.

I had only great service there the 3-4 times Ive been. They briefly messed-up my whitening kit (made two bottoms, honest mistake for a busy office) but fixed it on-the-spot within minutes at no charge, and with tons of apologies. The cleanings are great and thorough, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and Ive had no billing issues (using Delta Dental Premier).FYI, their $88 special was great for whitening, when we got them earlier this year... normally like $250. Really does a great job. Was out-of-pocket (not covered by insurance or by flex spending), but totally worth it. I recommend once/day for 8-10 hours (put `em in 2-3 hours before bed) through the whole treatment, and keep the whitening stuff in the bottom of the fridge when not in use.

The past two times I have been to Parkway Dental I have been furious when receiving my bill. Time before last, it was time for my annual bite wing X-rays. They were done, then the hygienist cleaned my teeth. I was having an issue with a front bottom gum area. No doctor was in the building. So, the hygienist gave me a mouthwash and sent me on my way. No dentist even reviewed my X-rays!!!!! Then, I received a bill for the mouthwash the hygienist just handed to me was I was leaving and never told me it was ~$20!This past visit (last month), I did actually get to see the dentist, and my gum had gotten worse. (Imagine that!?!) Additionally, the hygienist told me that my insurance covered fluoride and asked if I would like it, since it was covered as part of my cleaning. I agreed. Just this evening, I received a bill for $39. Guess what for...fluoride!!! 😡😡😡I have never in my life been so frustrated with a dental office. The one star is because they do get you in and out quickly. Other than that, I am extremely unimpressed and disappointed.

This has been one of the most unpleasant experiences at the dentist. I went recently to get my teeth cleaned and I asked SPECIFICALLY what the charges would be. I was given an exact amount which I paid before leaving. The cleaning was normal for any dentist office and no complaint there. Then I got a bill in the mail for roughly 50 dollars that was not covered... when I called back asking the receptionist about it she hung up on me and I had to call back asking if she wanted to take my credit number or not. After finally getting an approval number that it was paid I asked to talk to a supervisor and she said they were not there and hung up on me a second time. Be very careful coming here that they will quote a price and then send you a bill. I read other comments saying similar which is why I asked up front the charges.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Prout for over 20 years and have always valued his kind, considerate and thorough care and that of the hygienists, especially Tara and Marlene. His approach has been conservative and when he recommended xrays or procedures we always felt the recommendation was well-considered, not financially-motivated and in our best interest. However, it is not always clear which dentist you may encounter when you schedule a routine dental hygiene visit. At my most recent routine cleaning visit I was informed I was overdue for a panorex xray and must see the dentist in the office (not Dr. Prout) before my dental cleaning would be performed. I was not notified of any of these requirements on the phone when I scheduled nor at any prior office visit nor is there any posted office policy on the website or visible in the office. I had traveled two hours to Knoxville the night before just for this visit. Our family will have to find a new dental practice since we cant be sure which dentist we will encounter.

Over the past four months I have been to Dr. Frank Prout for some new crowns a to have a cavity filled. Dr. Prouts skill is excellent and I was totally satisfied. His support staff is excellent as well and the ladies on the front are most accommodating in scheduling appointments and advising on expenses for forthcoming procedures. I couldnt be happier with Parkway Dental and I would recommend Dr. Frank Prout to anyone looking for a dentist who always puts the patient first.

I switched over to Parkway Dental after have seen a country dentist for 3 years whom I thought was to rough with the cleaning and maybe not competent. I havent had any cavities in at least 25 years and no major problems. When I saw Dr Lovely he said I had to put in a crown and had to replace 4 fillings. I was quite chocked. I went to a different dentist to get a second opinon and he informed me that I did not have to replace any fillings and no need to put in a crown at this point. Im going back to my country dentist who doesnt try to take advantage and do work that is not neccessary. My husband always warns me of dentists who try to take advantage and that was my experience with dentist Lovely.

Do not go to Parkway Dental. Their office staff is extremely unprofessional. I had been going there for over 10 years, and had various services performed by Dr Prout and Dr Lovely including a veneer, fillings and regular teeth cleanings. However, due to the rudeness of the office manager, Jessica, and their lack of timeliness in filing insurance claims and blaming their unorganized billing on converting to a new system; I will never return. Which is pathetic that I would be treated so badly when I had been a patient for so long.
