Although the dentist and hygienist are nice and good at their jobs, I will no longer use this dental office because of their billing department. I have been going here for 8 months, and they have had a problem filing my insurance for 8 months. I have a primary and a secondary dental insurance and this dental office has messed up filing every time. This has caused me numerous headaches as somehow they informed my insurance companies that I had two health insurances which caused my health insurance to stop payment on a major surgery that I had. After having to call both of my dental insurance companies multiple times to clear up the confusion of which company should receive a claim first and which paid for what, I am still getting bills for the entire amount of services (neither insurance paying). This is after calling the office and being assured that they were just waiting for the primary insurances response so they could send it to the secondary insurance. A month has gone by and I have received another bill for the full amount. No more. This has become a nightmare for me. You need to train your billing person better or hire someone else. I will no longer use your services anymore because of this.

Absolutely no complaints after going here twice now and having 2 cleanings and a filling. Got in quickly, got out quickly. Hygienist and Dentist were both pleasant and professional. Front desk staff could be more friendly. They werent rude or anything. Just seemed rather disinterested. Id recommend them to anyone and plan to stick with this dental office. Switched from another practice that was horrible!

Going to the dentist has been a less than positive experience for me in years prior but the minute I starting using American Family Dentistry, that all changed! The front desk staff are very friendly and obliging, They put me at ease as soon as I walked in.Dr Brown is so friendly but also so competent in his work. His skilled hands made me feel no pain while I was getting my filling and the process was quick. Its clear hes an expert and takes pride in his work.I will definitely be returning to American Family Dentistry on Kingston Pike and will recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Samantha was absolutely amazing! Coming from a dental background, dental appointments have always been important to me. This office has the best staff who literally make you feel like you’ve known each other for years and not a stranger. They are like family themselves and you can see it by the way they interact with each other. I would HIGHLY recommend this dental office to anyone and everyone! Thank you for an amazing first visit, and believe it or not I can’t wait to come back :)

Horrid experience. I had put off going to the dentist, and was about to start a new job (meaning no insurance for 30 days) I decided it was time to go for a cleaning. I got there for an appointment scheduled at 4:10. I walk in and receptionist rudely says, “your appointment was at 4:00 it’s too late”. I show her the text confirmation that stated the appointment was at 4:10. They bring up them “calling me several times about paperwork that needed to be filled out prior”. I received no calls or voicemails from them. They did send out an email the day of the appointment which I didn’t read prior to appointment because I was at work all day. In between both of them being on the phone the entire encounter they offer to do X-rays and set up a later appointment because the dentist didn’t have time. I said no thanks and left. I have no idea if the dentist here could make up for the lack of professionalism at the front desk. I wouldn’t bother.

Havent even visited the office yet but if the office staff is anywhere near as kind, helpful, and informative as Susan who answered the phone I know we are going to love it! Susan was very patient in getting our confusing insurance straight and getting us in quickly. The person who answers the phone is usually the first person encountered when dealing with a business and its important a good impression is made and Susan certainly makes a great one!Thank you Susan!

-incredibly punctual-able to fit me in, and to reschedule, at short notice-sensitive to my anxiety-communicative-thoroughI had a wonderful experience, especially on my last visit. I am pregnant and had an issue after previously having all of my back teeth removed at another location. They were able to schedule me for the next morning, after getting a release from my obgyn. And then I missed the appointment! But they called me right back when there was a cancelation and were able to fit me in to the next available, 30 minutes from my original apt.Because of my lateness I was extra sensitive to the time.I walked in at 9:56am, answered some covid questions and had my temp taken. Everything was clean and labeled right down to the pens, which I appreciated more than I would have realized.I got back in my car by 10:11.They took an xray, the dentist came in immediately, they discussed everything with me and explained the xray results really well. I recieved a rx for an antibiotic and was out the door with a newly scheduled cleaning.I have never felt so fully taken care of by a medical professional, and so quickly at that.Everything from the setting, to the employees attitudes, to solution and speed were impressive.I had really severe dental anxiety before finally finding American Family Dentistry. The original location I attended and had a lot of work done at is now relocated, however I am confident that this location will be my go to dentist from this point forward.

Best Dental Experience Ever! From the very beginning with Mary Elizabeth who was very helpful and had a good attitude despite working on a Saturday. I was brought back super fast. I had my cousins child with me(mother passed when she was 3), David made sure we had a seat for her while I was being treated, thank u for that. The entire environment was super laid back and very comfortable which made having your tooth drilled on not so bad. Dr. Brown was down to earth and very caring, he explained everything to me in a way I could understand. I was in and out before I knew it and didnt have to mortgage my house to have tooth repaired. This was with out a doubt the best dental experience I have EVER had. I will recommend Dr. Brown and his staff to anyone in need of dental services. Mary Elizabeth, David, and Dr. Brown, thank you all very much!

The wait was a little long, but I don’t place blame on them as I am a new patient and it was a emergency visit. It was my first dental experience that didn’t make me feel like I was gonna go broke in one visit or just overwhelmed. They addressed my immediate issue and put me at ease. Both the hygienist and dentist were respectful of my overall plan for dental care given my dental history. I felt heard for once. They even suggested a partial that snaps on looks like a denture instead of the metal one. That blew my mind away. I have been so close to just pulling all my teeth and they both made feel comfortable enough to consider other options. I would definitely recommend them to others!

Okay so I guess I should have read the reviews before I went here today. This dentist is very rude. He is a know it all that clearly knows nothing at all. Obviously this is not the right profession for him. If you are wanting an experience like Dicks last resort restaurant, this is the place to go. First off, I am a breastfeeding mother, so of course I have to bring her with me everywhere, and no I dont have a babysitter. Secondly, dont scrape the plaque from my teeth and wipe it on my tongue. I dont want it back in my mouth. Lastly, do not talk to me like I am a twelve year old. Please find a different profession.

Also the receptionist was awesome they helped us get a discount to save us money so in my eyes these guys go above and beyond and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a GREAT dental experience....

I was so offended the way my special needs adult daughter was treated at her cleaning. The hygienist acted more annoyed then compassionate to accommodate her needs. She was unfriendly and would huff and grunt with annoyance while cleaning. She also wouldnt use the suctions correctly while rinsing and kept chocking my daughter. She never finished the cleaning barking out a worse case scenario to my cognitive delayed daughter scaring her that her teeth are going to rot, fall out and eventually she will need dentures. I told her she cant do her hygiene by herself and its up to me and it can be stressful and she rudely suggested their is medication for that. I was offended. I understand my daughter had gingivitis but isnt that why she was there to be cared for and educated to move forward on proper oral health care. The session ended with me helping my daughters rinse her bloody teeth in the sink cause the hygienists was feed up. My daughter left crying her eyes out not from pain but from humiliation. They didnt even ask at the payment desk if I would like to schedule to try again after some recommended home treatment (which wasnt properly given). I regret not standing up and reporting to her doctor this bad experience at the time but I was speechless over the experience. Note: They also have a bad reputation of losing files or mixing up information/dates on records. Our family will never go back there again.

Teresa, the receptionist went above and beyond helping my husband and I yesterday. Miranda, the hygienist was nice and also gentle with her cleaning. However, Dr. Jones was rude. He was unprofessional, condescending and rude. He didnt answer my questions and tried to intimidate me into getting all the work done regardless if my insurance covered it or not. At reception afterwards, I requested to change to Dr. Morgan. Hopefully, she will have a professional, polite approach. I havent met her so the jury is still out on that. I wish the exit desk wasnt in the lobby because I didnt want to air my complaint in front of other patients.

A friend asked me to recommend and I HIGHLY recommended this one. Not because of Dr. Brown (who gives amazing gum massages when jabbing novacain in your mouth). Not for David (whos chair side manners are top notch!). I recommended this dentist because of Mary Elizabeth!! She makes every person who comes in feel welcomed. She laughs at my terrible jokes and will be forthcoming enough to tell me they are terrible. She has been the unsung hero for Dr. Brown for years!!!

My private dentist switched to American Family Dentistry on Kingston Pike and I followed him. Bad mistake. I had constant problems with billing. The last time, they submitted my claim to the insurance with an incorrect tax ID number, my insurance rejected it, and then I called and was told they would resubmit with the correct number. They resubmitted and put the incorrect number again! When my insurance turned it down again, they sent me a nasty letter saying they were going to turn me over to a colllection agency if I didn’t pay. All this for a cleaning and checkup that is paid 100 percent by my insurance. That was the final straw. The facility itself is not particularly appealing but I remained because of my dentist. However, if they can’t file a simple insurance claim, then they don’t deserve my business.. I will not be going back any more.

Terrible experience here. I would not recommend this office or Dr. Jones to anyone. First off, I called requesting an appointment for my TMJ (which they specifically say on their website that they handle) and after going to the appointment and waiting almost an hour to be seen Im told they dont handle TMJ in that office and Id need to go to an orthodontist. Clearly they couldve told me that over the phone! They obviously just wanted the money from the appointment. Secondly, in the less than five minutes that Dr. Jones spent with me he starts pulling on my jaw telling me to open it wider and getting frustrated with me, so I try to tell him that I CANT open it which is the whole reason for the visit (which he shouldve known) so then he snaps that me that he cant look at my teeth while Im talking so I needed to be quiet. Then proceeds to trying to stretch my jaw again. He did not care at all that I was in pain. He was so rude and inconsiderate. I will never be back here and I will certainly be warning anyone I know not to come here either.

I got my wisdom teeth out and as they were giving me local anesthetic the doctor mentioned I could possibly have a lifelong tingling in my jaw. Mind you, this is not crucial I get them out, purely cosmetic so I can get pretty straight teeth. I was not given a decision in this or a warning, just come in next week before my benefits renew, aka, right before Christmas. Keep in mind I am a single mother of a 4 year old. They sent me home with ibuprophin. I happen to notice the dea number is missing, so that is probably the strongest hee can prescribe is the counter stuff. He sewes up my gaping holes (they are already fully grown out) And makes a web for the small amount of food I managed to eat to be caught in these large holes that were basically left completely open and draped with string. After going back he tells me the first round of antibiotics failed and I have an infection. Explains the blinding pain. And the antibiotics he is now prescribing may give me an allergic reaction, but he does not fail to mention that with or without the antibiotics, there is about an equal chance I will land in the hospital. Merry Christmas to me and my child, who will only be 4 once. But hey, they got me in in under a week and it was super cheap.

There are so many nice things I could say! I have terrible anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist. Clammy, heart racing, and shaky. That kind of thing. This was my first time going to AFD. It was for inflamed, swollen, painful, and bleeding gums. After 9 yrs of avoiding the dentist, I couldn’t take the pain anymore. Daniel at the front desk was very nice and informative regarding my insurance and also let me know they were running ahead of schedule so I was able to be seen sooner! I appreciated that! Marcie(excuse my spelling if incorrect) the hygienist was an absolute sweetheart. She took my xrays and told me what she was looking at on each tooth, described the bone line, described everything she saw. Keep in mind this appointment happened during a storm and the lights kept flickering, in my head it’s like a horror movie.. my anxiety over dental work and the lights flickering.. but I told her I was nervous and she was super comforting. I can’t thank her enough. Per Dr Morgan who was also super nice and wonderful, said I just needed deep cleaning below the gum line. Ouch! But Dr Morgan was extremely informative and Marcie made sure I was numbed up well and that I could barely feel a thing, just pressure. While she was doing the cleaning, she talked to me and told me everything she was doing. And she was funny as well! She and Dr Morgan provided me with tips on how to heal my gums quickly and told me what kind of products they would suggest. I came out of there with a beautiful smile and my gums felt soooo much better! I don’t think I could possibly had better treatment! Bright side as well, no cavities! But from the desk check in to the cleaning to the dr exam and back to the desk to check out... amazing visit! Thank you guys so much for your kindness! You made my anxiety completely disappear! I look forward to my next visit! :)

My granddaughter had appointment yesterday with Dr. Jones at American Family Dentistry. It was the worst experience I have ever been in. First of all he is a plain out smart ellic. I was talking to my granddaughter, which is only 7 yrs old, and told her to just close her eyes, so she didnt see the needle and freak out, and I said it wont hurt. Well he came out with a smartass remark, dont lie to a kid. And I said Im not, it should be numb already from the medicine that he put on her tooth before the shot. OK I let that slide. Now she is crying and feeling her jaw, and I explained that its only numb baby , like it does when we put orajrel on it. And again he comes back with another smartass remark, orajrel! Thats the worst thing to use, dont be using that stiff!! OMG!! By then I was getting pretty upset. And he also said Just let me do the Dentistry! What the crap!? I wasnt even talking to him in the first place. So after that ordeal , he was trying to get an ex-ray of her tooth. By now she is crying putting bad and scared, because he was getting aggravated at her and getting hateful, because she couldnt close her mouth enough to get the ex-ray so he took his index finger and on her forehead he poked her three times and said as he was doing that no, no, no. I looked at him and told my daughter that my granddaughter would not be back at this place!!! So I said Im going out before I go off in here. Thats no way to treat a child. That is exactly why ppl dont go to the dentist. He is a jerk and I dont recommend anyone take their children to that place. Even one of the employees agreed with me when I said he was a smartass. Ppl please dont take your children to him. He does not have the patience to deal with children, especially small children.
