I just had my first haircut at Lox and I love it! Cori did an absolutely amazing job. I brought in an inspo pic and she replicated it perfectly, with expert suggestions on how to modify the cut based on my hair texture, face shape, and lifestyle (I am a very lazy home-stylist!). My hair is naturally curly and I asked Cori to blow it out straight at the salon. It looked amazing when I walked out the door AND when I did my normal curly routine the next day. Thanks Cori!

Nichole was amazing!! Great atmosphere and beautiful setting. Everyone was so friendly and it was very reasonably priced. I went from long hair to a short bob and was able to donate to locks of love. If you have curly hair, dont walk, RUN to see Kyla at Lox! I cant say enough good things about her, so bear with me through what Im sure will be a long review. I have been really struggling with embracing my wavy/curly thin, frizzy hair (sounds fun, right?), and I am so grateful that I found Kyla. First off, she made me look like a million bucks. I cant stop staring at my lustrous locks every time I pass a mirror. I have actual curls again and not mushy, limp waves. I have tried over a dozen salons and no one has even come close to what Kyla can do. I have received SO many compliments since I left the salon, which has never happened to me. On top of that, she actually takes the time to tell you about curly hair, how to manage and maintain it, tips and tricks, and talks through what shes doing so you can style your hair after leaving. There is nothing worse than dreading that first wash after you leave the salon because you know youll never be able to get the same style, but with Kylas instructions I am super comfortable with styling my own hair now! You can tell she has such a passion for what she does and takes so much pride in her work. She is also so genuine and friendly that it feels like visiting a friend.On top of Kyla, the salon is beautiful! Theres such a welcoming vibe and everyone is so friendly. It feels like one of those salons where customers feel like family and just hang out for hours to be around good people. I have gone here for 3 years and never had a problem. This weekend, I went to Jenni for just a trim and blow out before a wedding, and she took off at least 4 inches. She kept trying to make excuses of why she took off so much. Also, the layers are way too short. She did not listen to what I wanted. She also put so much product in my hair that it was just super greasy. I am extremely unhappy with her as a stylist. Do not use her if you are going to “just a trim.” Overall though, I love Lox and this is the first bad experience I’ve had. Typically I only use stylists with good reviews, but Jenni took me on last minute because the person I was scheduled with was unable to do my hair. So, I definitely recommend Lox as a whole, but not Jenni!

I was a little nervous having moved to Knoxville and having to try a new hair stylist after 15 years of using the same guy. I’m rather picky about my color on my hair. Brynn, the owner did my hair. Worth every penny. My color is amazing and the cut was exactly what I wanted. The color again, beautifully blended with my previous. Looks so natural and bright. Highly recommend

High recommend!! I have shoulder length, extremely curly hair. I read other reviews that said Kyla has experience and knowledge on curly hair but she was all booked up so they put me with Mika instead. I hadn’t had my hair professionally cut in over a year and it needed some TLC. I hated the shape, then ends were like hay and I wanted to do some bangs. Mika was SO nice and talked to me the whole time. I felt like she listened to me and understood what I wanted. She told me what she was doing as she was doing it and really spent her time making sure every curl was trimmed and fell right. She asked if it was okay to use a diffuser and products on my hair, which I really appreciated. They didn’t push me to buy any products or anything after and the cut was only $39!!! I was seriously blown away by this place. I love my new cut. I will 100% be going back. (Before and after)

I am so appreciative of the hair stylists here. I was originally scheduled for one person, but she was honest and said Kyla would probably do a better job. Fortunately, Kyla was available for the slot that I had already scheduled. My hair is extremely dry and high porosity and I never learned how to style it, so it’s always been a bit messy. Kyla made sure to teach me a bit about my hair type and even how to dry it at home with a diffuser. I think my favorite part is that other hair salons I’ve been to style my hair with a straightener, despite my hair not tolerating heat at all. I really liked that Kyla styled it with no straightener and with just 2-3 products. I mentioned this to her and she said she preferred this too because it’s much easier and more realistic for the client to be able to recreate at home, which I 100% agree with.

I always love coming to this salon. It is such a treat! Theyre honest about how often I need to come in for a cut or color and they do an amazing job every time. Every stylist here is super nice. I usually go to Dan who I absolutely love. Although it is on the expensive side, I always leave better than I felt.

Jenni cut my hair on Wednesday, September 1st. I asked for bangs at eyebrow level, she cut them half an inch shorter than that. She cut off at least 2 inches off the length of my hair when I asked for a slight trim, and she thinned all my layers far too much. I went in expecting a bit of a cleanup but my wishes were not listened to, which is a shame, because I like the atmosphere of the salon.

Curly girls look no further! Brynn did a phenomenal job with my thick head of long curly hair. Ive been to my fair share of curl specialists, even driving out-of-state to find stylists Im willing to entrust with it. Brynn is top-of-the-line and has a fine eye for shape and texture. She started by cutting my hair dry, curl-by-curl, so that every strand would fall into place and create the look I wanted. The she washed it, refined the ends and spent extra time making me look like a million bucks. Cant recommend her, and Lox, enough!

I have had great experiences at Lox Salon before when getting my nails done, but this was my first cut/color hair appointment. While I am satisfied with the way my color turned out, I was very dissatisfied with the experience overall. Putting the foils on took an excessive amount of time and an excessive amount of color was used, which I was later charged for. I have fine, thin hair that is cut into a short chin length bob and have had many foil/color jobs before and it has NEVER been necessary for the stylist to mix three bowls of color to foil my hair. We also only foiled about 3/4 of my hair...not a full job (the bottom was left for color contrast). After being in the chair for 4 hours (my appointment started around 11:30 and I left the salon at 3:30), I decided to forego the haircut and told the stylist I had to leave. I was then charged $193 for the foil/color alone. I just moved to Knoxville from a larger city and am used to paying a higher price for a quality haircut/color, but I have never paid that much for a foil job alone. If you go to this salon for a color job, I would advise you to make sure the stylist is up front about all costs and how much time you should expect to be there. All that being said, the manicurist, Mason, does an amazing job and I highly recommend her for nails. However, I will not be going back to Lox for my hair.

Lox did my bridal hair and makeup as well as hair/makeup for my four bridesmaids. They came on location to the Crowne Plaza on time and had everything they needed with them. I could not be more satisfied with our experience with Lox for my wedding, but that was no surprise because they have been my hair and beauty go-to place for a few years now. I could not have imagined my wedding day without Lox being a part of it! I loved my hair and makeup (thanks Katie!) and I thought my bridesmaids looked so beautiful as well (thanks Andrea and Alillie!). You guys rock!

Lox Salon has been my go-to ever since I discovered it. I love what they stand for (vegan products + zero waste), and the salon itself as the greatest vibes and energy.Gabby is AMAZING! Lindsay did my hair before work a day I simply did not have time to do it myself, she did a conditioning treatment first to help reverse some of my heat damage and curled my hair quickly and it lasted all day long! Nice place. I was going from very long hair to shorter hair, and I told my stylist to cut below the collarbone. She threw on the cape and started cutting above it and I thought too late now, maybe Ill end up liking this!. Its been a few days now and I regret it being so short. Its just hair and it wont take too long to get where I want it probably, but I definitely wish we could have gotten it right the first time.

Great price and atmosphere

Lox saved my hair. I rarely get salon cuts, but took the dive after the lock down. My original stylist didnt really understand what I was looking for, and I couldnt really tell what had happened until I got home and saw it for myself. I immediately booked an appointment with Lox. Lindsay was professional and courteous and absolutely saved my hair. Its exactly how I wanted it to turn out.

Went here for years before the management changed and loved it. Thought Id be fair and give the new people a chance. First of all, my bad, I forgot my mask. Thats on me but these people wanted to charge me $5 for some rinky dink mask that probably cost .30 to manufacture. Making a profit off a pandemic, sheesh.... Well, I went along with it anyway and was escorted to an unfinished basement where some rough looking emo chick told me she would be able to do my cut in about 45 minutes. Mind you I already had an appointment and had waited for 15 minutes before she told me this. Well, that was it for me. Got up and walked out never to return. Such a shame. Was a great place once.

Really good experience with the keratin treatment with Melanie Farmer. I’d ask for her specifically if I were you. Treated my hair with lots of love and care and even double shampooed it. I did get quoted $175 on the phone by whoever answered it for my booking and then faced some sticker shock in-store when Melanie told me it was $300...so I left less of a tip than I had planned due to the surprise price differential. Make sure you’re quoted the accurate amount. (Melanie was not at fault here - just the person who booked me over the phone, which is why I’m giving it 5 stars for the TREATMENT itself, not the pricing or business practices).

Service was phenomenal even though I wasnt sure exactly what I wanted. Employees had no problem taking longer than anticipated with my appointment to assure I got exactly what I wanted, and I left with my hair looking amazing!

Have a health condition... since Covid I looked like an Oler Goldilocks! Daughter uses Lox and felt it was safe so gave er a try...Gabby did an awesome job! All my followers here on Google..I highly recommend Lox..N especially Gabby

I very rarely leave bad reviews, but this was a terrible experience. If you have any texture at all in your hair I don’t recommend going here. The stylist insisted on straightening my wavy hair before cutting it. I was concerned and expressed that but she seemed certain it would be fine, so I trusted she knew what she was doing. Unfortunately as I assumed, once I washed it and it went back to it’s natural texture it was wildly uneven. I had to go spend even more money getting it fixed somewhere else.Edit 9/20: Hi Brynn, I’m sure you understand I don’t want anyone else from your salon touching my hair, much less someone who would insinuate this was my fault. Regardless, I was able to have it fixed elsewhere. It’s not reasonable to expect that the customer would need to let your salon know in advance if their hair is not stick straight, or that you only have two people capable of cutting anything other than stick straight hair. That is a major disclaimer that is stated nowhere on your website or at your salon. It’s not at all my fault that your stylist decided to take on my hair and that I trusted her insistence it would be fine. If it was beyond her capabilities, she should have said that and pointed me to someone else.If you want to make this situation right, I would very much appreciate a refund. I paid for a service that I did not receive.All best, Katherine

They really run with the Treat-yo-self motto! My wife and I came here during the Rhythm and Roots festival for pedicures then a beard trim for myself while my wife got a manicure. Porsche and Jennifer did our pedicures and I can confidently say it was the best experience Ive ever had getting pedicures. Both of the ladies were extremely nice, easy to talk to, and did amazing jobs. Jennifer did my wifes nails which looked awesome and she was very happy with them. The salon itself has a modern feel in a historic building so its very welcoming. Overall, Id gladly drive the extra distance to come here again... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Just got a scalp treatment by Alillie and it was super awesome! During the winter season I always have dry, itchy scalp so this special treatment was exactly what I needed..... feels 100% better and they even sell the peppermint shampoo so I got everything I need at one time.

Most horrible service ive ever uncounted. I informed them that i was calling my husband and going to smoke. Next thing i know they called the cops saying i refused to pay. Never said that at all! They lied . they rushed the job. They did a horrible job! Never ever said i wasnt paying. They lied. Never recommend to go go there. Refused to trim my hair right. Melanie is an experienced professional; she listens and follows directions well. I trusted her to apply a keratin treatment and cut my hair (including getting fringe for the first time in three years- eek!) and I love it all. She is creative and you can tell she takes her work very seriously but you will have a blast with her.

Im new in town and needed to get my hair cut. I have straight hair parted to the side. No big deal. I found this shop on line and decided to give it a try. Long story short- my hair wasnt shampooed or conditioned. The girl that cut my hair used some of the longest scissors Ive ever seen in a salon. It took her all of 15 minutes to cut my hair and when I checked out I was hit with a $51 bill. I tipped the stylist because its the right thing to do. However, the service was simply inferior and I felt ripped off. Wont ever be going back here and do NOT recommend this place for anyone looking for a high quality service.

I normally never rate anything 5 stars. However, Porsche, the nail tech, deserves 5 stars. I can only speak for the nail services; yet, Porsche makes sure you are comfortable, she does a great job with designs, and when I let her go wild with my nails she is creative. I recommend her to all my friends. She is the BEST, and I never say that.

I had a really good experience at Lox today. Melanie gave me a sweet, tidy pixie cut that was exactly what I needed. She was a pleasure to talk to, and gave a killer shampoo.The building is also beautiful, and a pleasant environment to spend an hour or so. I also really like the gender neutral pricing based on short vs. long, rather than woman vs. man.

I called to ask if they do keratin treatment, they said based in my hairs length it would be $175.00, there I asked if they could cut my ends, another $30.00, after 5.+ hours, it was almost double the amount to $360.00. Bait and switch.

It was great to discover a place like this in Knoxville. I got my hair cut and colored by Brynn. Not only did she do a great job but very patiently listened to what I wanted and gave great advice. Definitely a very trendy place !

Ive been getting my hair cut here for several years, and I will be sticking with them for awhile longer! Liv is my main gal, and shes so good, so creative and friendly and talented as a stylist. I also love Lou, Brynn, and Chelsea, who I have relied on when Liv is unavailable. Their massage therapist is amazing, as is the nail technician. Every time I go, I leave happier and looking better! Oh, and their manager, Erin, keeps things running so smoothly. She is awesome.

Wonderful salon. The bridal party and moms had hair/makeup done here before my sisters wedding in late June. The stylists were all so friendly and attentive. I dont recommend Jess, she charges more than she deserves. Although she puts $30 for a short haircut on the Lox website, she charges me $40 plus tips after the haircut without informing me during or before the service. For the free trim, she charges me $20 plus tips. Since she did a bit more work on trimming my hair, I kindly said I should perhaps pay you for the work. She then took me to the front desk, and I thought maybe she will charge me 5-10 bucks for this free trim but never expect 20 bucks. I dont feel the service worth that much and I was disappointed by her behavior. It is just my personal experience and opinion. Maybe I am overreacting to what she did and maybe it is common in the US.On the other side, Jade is a much better hair designer. She is honest and has a great personality. I booked Jess because Jades schedule was full.

My fiancé is extremely* picky about who touches her hair.. while browsing through IG we found a lady named “Katie” -my fiancé knew after 2 minutes she was going to give her a shot. She initially went in for lashes and to feel the place out for a haircut at a later date- that didn’t happen. She LOVED* her lashes and the environment so much that she decided to make an appointment that day for the cut. -I have never seen her look as incredible as she does now, after leaving Lox, being in Katie’s care. She was glowing and absolutely elated to have found her person that will be doing her hair and lashes for our wedding. I’m sure she will leave a review as well, but after seeing how happy she was, I felt I also needed to. Thank you, Katie! She will DEFINITELY be back!

Great salon in The Old City. I used a wonderful stylist, Stephanie. The space is beautiful and the staff is always welcoming you with a hot cup of coffee. Relaxed atmosphere and an area for children to play.

Came in for a balayage on Wednesday with Katie. After 4 hours in the salon, my hair hardly changed any color at all. Katie recognized this and knew it wasn’t what I asked for and offered to see me again in a couple of days to do the color again. I really appreciate the fact that she offered this without me having to ask her, and she was so sweet and helpful with me. I came back in and after another 3 hours I was left with highlights more than a balayage and still not the kind of color that I wanted. I’m disappointed that I spent so much time and $200 later I still don’t have the color that I asked for. At the end of the second appointment, I really just wanted to be done and I thanked her for her time. I really do appreciate the fact that she tried, but the end result isn’t what I wanted. I won’t be returning unfortunately.

Lox is a Great Edgy Salon in the Old City. Creative, concerned with the environment, uses wonderful hair products, attentive to your hair concerns, and I always feel welcome.Free parking a short walk under the bridge on Jackson or paid next door. Close to great lunch spots or coffee shops.

Great team of people. They offer a wide range of services. Overall I think their space is their best feature and it makes getting any service even more enjoyable.

Best cut, colour, t Ive had in years, maybe ever. I recently received a GC for an expensive (twice the cost) salon for a cut and color and was terribly disappointed with the results. Ive been impatiently waiting for my hair to grow - to go back to Lox and have the cut and colour improved. Ive lived all over the US, in major cities and Ive never had a better experience with my unruly, curly, dry hair. Go - youll love their excellent work and the ambiance.
