Overall great experience. Ms. Lee was very nice and professional. Southern Roots was quick to respond/correct to the miscommunication that originally was there. Didnt spend a penny on the second cut, which came out perfect! Will definitely come back to this Salon and Ms. Lee in the future.

First and foremost, this salon is absolutely amazing, and the level of customer service one receives when they step inside the door is phenomenal! I have had two above and beyond experiences here at this salon. On 11/18/2020, I got my hair styled for my wedding by Tara, and on 4/23/2021, I did a total hair makeover with Tara. The level of professionalism was outstanding! My hair is notoriously difficult to work with because it is thick, and I have a ton of it, but Tara easily tamed it and made me feel absolutely beautiful. Everyone at the salon helps each other out, and everyone I had the pleasure of talking with and receiving help from was beyond sweet and wonderful. I could also bring in my own Arctic Fox dyes for them to work with, as I wanted to go a bright fantasy red/orange, and they worked absolute magic on my hair with the dyes. I am so thrilled with my hair and my experience here. Tara is wonderful; everyone is friendly and amazing, and I highly highly recommend going to Southern Roots Hair Salon for all of your hair needs!

The ladies there are seriously amazing! They took a picture that I showed them and not only did they make that picture happen but they made it even better than the picture that showed them! After searching for a stylist who could help me get my hair back to a healthy place, I found Tara. We chatted about my hair goals on the first visit and have worked to get there with every visit. She is talented, professional and great to talk to chat with. With Tara my fine, straight, normal hair is never weighed down, the cut keeps it bouncy with some style and the temporary color being used has helped to blend in the growth I came to her with.

Lee was my hair specialist. She got my blonde absolutely perfect and did not mess up my hair with the toners. Many stylists have issues with my hair because it pulls red which makes it golden and they try to tone it with blue violet which makes it grey so she did awesome turned it absolutely blonde. I dont live in the area but if I did she would be my stylist. If youre in town for vacation she is the one to see.

I got a hair cut here last week from Lee and she did a fabulous job!! I was so nervous trying a new hair salon after moving to town but I finally broke down and decided to do it. Southern Roots was so lovely! The salon is cute and clean and the staff is really friendly. Lee did a wonderful job on my hair. She listened to what I wanted and totally brought my vision to life. After I was done I made another appointment for the next week to come back and get some color done in my hair, I cant wait!! :)

I nervously booked an appointment with Amy, after having my hair messed up and never properly done the way I wanted it done by several other stylists in town. After meeting Amy, she is an absolute breath of fresh air. She came in with the warmest welcome and asked me what I wanted done. She had the most detailed consultation with me that I have ever had. She showed me pictures in her phone of her work and gave me several options. She also showed me ways my hair could turn out with my density and texture. The best part was how excited she was to do my hair the way I have wanted it done. She was excited to show me that it could be done, it just took someone to really listen and hear me out and take the time with me. We had great conversation the entire time and she made me feel so welcomed. She has a very gentle, kind spirit and she quickly became someone I would want to be around for several hours while having my hair done, which is hard to come by for me. The entire time she was doing my highlights, she kept telling me how pretty my hair was going to be and how excited she was, which made me excited. While cutting my hair, she went over my cut again, before continuing, to be sure she did it the way I wanted it done and gave me suggestions on how to avoid issues Ive had in the past with certain haircuts. She then styled my hair and I almost cried when I saw the finished result.. I had her cut off my hair from down to my waist, to up to my neck and she did a phenomenal job. And my blonde highlights are exactly what I wanted. She made me feel so pretty for the first time in a long time . She had another stylist take my pictures and while I didnt catch her name, she was an absolute sweetheart, too. Amy is truly a master of her craft and I will 110% be going back to her. Not only does she really listen and do her best to give you what you want, but it makes a huge difference when someone loves their career and their clients and she definitely does.

Lauren was absolutely amazing! She was so sweet and very knowledgeable! I had no idea what I was wanting to do with my hair and she took the time to go over everything with me and made my hair look so amazing! I’ll be going to her from now on!

This salon is my favorite in Jacksonville! Lee does my coloring and she always gets exactly what I want. She has gotten me blonder every time and it never comes out brassy. It’s a really great salon for all services.

I’m in tears leaving this place. I called and booked an appointment for a cut and color and I decided at my appointment I was to afraid to color my hair so I just wanted a haircut. They said they had to charge me still for 50% of the color service on top of the haircut because I “booked her out for three hours and changed my mind about the service”. I was planning on paying with cash and didn’t have enough money to pay for the 50% and the haircut so i just had to use the money I had set aside for a hair cut for literally driving 40 minutes and walking in and changing my mind. 80$ for nothing. I work hard for my money and I don’t make a lot and I had been saving and setting aside what I could to afford a haircut and I still don’t have one now and I’m just so upset, it’ll be another couple months before I can afford another but it’ll definitely not be to this salon and Ill make sure to tell everyone I know how disappointed I am with this places “policy”.

Lee did an amazing job on my hair! Im very hesitant to try new places and stylists, but I felt comfortable from the moment I sat in her chair. Pricing is discussed up front the minute you sit down which I personally love because theres no surprises. She gave me exactly what I asked for and even color corrected my hair that I didnt know it needed! Shes very attentive and SO sweet! You wont go wrong going here. The salon is extremely updated and the atmosphere is fun yet professional. I cannot give this place anything but a perfect review all around.

I had gotten my haircut cut 7 months prior and was afraid to get it cut again because the front was really uneven, but Lee took the time and effort to make sure everything was even and calmed my fears about it. I want to say that I do absolutely love the way Amy did my hair! She colored and cut my hair better than I had imagined! One negative I must say is the price, it was outrageously priced😥 for the NC area, I would say it was too expensive! So that is why I gave southern roots four stars instead of five! Just beware of the price! And I also want to add that at the end when she was styling she did end up getting someone to finish. I wasnt too happy about that, I kinda thought that was rude. But my hair does look great, just too expensive for me to want to go back!

I’ve had a couple horror experiences getting my hair done in Jacksonville but Amy at southern roots knows her stuff! I was really nervous going I suppose it is because I can be picky about my hair but she definitely took the time to talk to me about different options I could take as far as describing the actual coloring techniques she could do & what those techniques would do to my hair. I also loved that all the girls who worked at the salon worked well together they communicated well with one another. Everyone was super friendly & I will be making this my regular salon.

Just moved here so I was trying to find a new place to color my hair. I love changing up my hair, and decided to go a silver-blonde. I got an appt the same day I called and Krista said I could come early if I wanted which was perfect. She did an amazing job!!!! I’m so in love with this new hair color. It is pricey, but honestly it’s the same rates as the previous two salons I’ve been to, so I think it’s fair for the job they had to do.

I had gone to a Salon in Jacksonville, NC and received a Haircut from a 30 year employee there... It was by far, THE WORST Haircut I have ever had. After cutting sections myself, I decided to find someone on the internet. I found Southern Roots Hair Salon and Asia Kleinmeyer! What a stroke of LUCK! My experience was awesome! Asia is VERY talented. I have short hair and she is GOOD! I have made my next appointment for a haircut and I plan on having her do highlights. Thank you!

Its a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. I was thrilled with my results. Lee have me exactly what I asked for. She was able to give me great results despite the fact I have black brown and have dyed my gray hairs with box store color. If its your first time coloring I would definitely recommend this place, they will get it right!

I bit the bullet and attempted one of these Brazilian Blow outs I kept hearing about. It was seriously LIFE CHANGING!! It was everything I heard about and MORE. I have zero frizz in my hair despite the insane amount of humidity/rain. I can pretty much blow dry it smooth with minimal flat ironing. I dont think I can ever NOT have one again. Thank you ladies.P.s. I definitely recommend the after care products. Theyre just as amazing

Really upscale atmosphere and lovely decor. Amy is phenomenal and clearly an expert. I could tell from the beginning talking to her that she was much more experience and trained than what I was used to from a hair stylist. The location is great too it’s a brand new building and right off Western Blvd.

The staff seemed to be friendly. I was hopeful to find my new stylish today. I called ahead to see if someone could see me to get a price on a color corrector. I showed up and they greeted me immediately and asked if I wanted anything to drink which was extremely polite. Unfortunately I showed up waited for over a half hour for someone to see me after I called ahead and ended up just leaving because nobody would help. I had an appointment already set up for tomorrow but after the wait I would not recommend this place.

I am blown away with the services I received from Southern Roots! I walked in without an appointment and they were able to squeeze me in with their busy schedule. The stylists were friendly, welcoming and they made sure I was comfortable from when I walked in until I walked out. Salon was very clean (which im really picky about) and I loved the atmosphere. Overall, everything was excellent!! Love how my hair turned out and my husband cant stop touching my hair. 😄 Highly recommend!!

I have had long hair forever! Amy gave me the cutest short haircut I have ever had! I LOVE IT! I cant tell you how many compliments I have had on the cut as well as the color. She is fast, efficient, professional and very reasonably priced. The shop was the cutest shop Ive seen in a long time, and very very clean. I even bought a cute watch to match my new look. Loved her accessories she was selling... Again very reasonabley priced. Im just afraid word is going to get out and she will become so busy it will take me months to get an appointment. So I had to come back and edit my review. I recently saw Amy maybe 2-3 weeks ago for a dark brown to light balayage. I usually get my hair done at a salon near new york city so I had high expectations. After she was done, I wasnt too happy about the color. The toner washed out and it looked super brassy. I rated the salon 2 stars and Amy personally reached out to me on how she could help. This never happens where a salon reaches out to the customer to better their experience. Well, Amy redid my hair free of charge and it came out GREAT! She was super sweet and professional. great customer service. highly recommend

Just wow. Amy is seriously a miracle worker! First she was able to see me the same day I called. Second she worked her magic on a botched hair cut and I left her salon feeling like a brand new woman! My hair stylist burned my scalp with the blow dryer and I had my earring yanked out of my ear! When I called to get directions to the salon (because they recently moved) the woman on the phone was rude and short with me. My head hurt for three days from the burn. Though my stylist was a kind woman and easy to talk to, I will not be returning. For the price you pay the service was surely lacking.

Previously wrote a bad review and meant to come back and give an update. After my bad experince at this hair salon, the owner personally called me to apologize and refund me. She even gave me tips on how to fix my hair from what the stylist did since I wasn’t from the area and couldn’t go back to them. I really appreciate the effort the owner took in making the situation better.

Amy was so sweet and accommodating! I brought in some pictures, she talked me through how they would work, and we did what was best for my hair! Definitely recommend!
