Dr. Yen has been great. Sometimes with specialists you feel rushed and don’t get to all your questions ... he has always answered all my questions and somehow keeps me at ease. Even with needles! I’d definitely recommend him.

Dr. Yen is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable and is very good about explaining things. He told me exactly what to expect during surgery and he and his team did an excellent job with the surgery. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing levator muscle surgery to help correct ptosis of the eye.

I had a bizarre experience with the doctor and the clinic. The Doctor examined me for my ailment and stated that “he did not see anything wrong with me eye”, though I mentioned that it has been hurting me for 4 months now and have been treated by another Ophthalmologist and was referred to him by the previous doctor. He suggested I take an Antibiotic, that I mentioned I already took as prescribed by the previous doctor. He further mentioned that nothing else can be done, other than take another course of the antibiotic.Because, I had taken the medication prior and had no relief I asked again what would be his course action if it did not work. He said he had none.I was not totally convinced and I asked again of the plan B.At this stage the doctor got agitated. His very words were, while pointing to his watch “I have to go pick my daughter, I don’t have time to go over this anymore, and the conversation has to end here”.I have never seen a doctor react like this.Saying the above he walked out of the room after handing me the prescription. My surprise did not end there. The Nurse and his assistant who were in attendance also walked out after him.I was standing in the room holding the prescription and waiting for the directions.I figured my way out still in disbelief. This is my weirdest experience at a Doctor’s clinic.I have noticed clinics remove such reviews from their sites so I planning to post this in multiple webpages so this can be viewed by all

I was referred to Michael Yen by another ophthalmologist because I have some unique eye problems (light sensitivity, redness in eyelids, intolerance to heat, etc) that other doctors cannot figure out. I was told that Dr. Yen was someone on the forefront of research and could come up with out of the box solutions to help return my eyes to normal. After two appointments with Dr. Yen I can say without a doubt this is the worst doctor I have visited in my life and I have never felt so degraded by another human being. My first appointment lasted about 15 minutes during which they gave me a vision test and then Dr. Yen somewhat listened to my issues and was very nice and answered various questions I had. He prescribed an antibiotic to see if that would return the natural oils to my eye and scheduled a follow up appointment for one month later to see the results. After 2 weeks on the antibiotic it started giving me excruciating headaches to the point that I could not function or do anything except sit around with ice on my head and my eyes closed all day so I stopped taking it and asked for an alternative medicine. The alternative medicine prescribed made me incredibly fatigued to the point I was out of breathe just from walking short distances and I stopped taking that a couple days (Monday) before my follow up appointment on Wednesday because the side effects were overwhelming. I am someone who runs multiple times per week and has weight trained for around 20 years and I do not run out of breathe in a few steps unless something is horribly wrong like this medicine caused. When I came in for my follow up appointment I told them I had stopped taking that medicine two days prior due to side effects. Dr. Yen at this point proceeded to scold me like a child and yell at me for discontinuing the medicines which were giving me the horrific side effects mentioned above. He said that the reason my condition will never improve was because I did not finish the antibiotics. He asked if I was lubricating my eyes throughout the day (he had told me to lubricate only when necessary) and I said yes sometimes when necessary, usually once a day. He then yelled at me and told me that “this sometimes business is not going to cut it and that is the reason your eyes are still in this condition.” As I said HE is the one that instructed me to lubricate when necessary and NOT on a set schedule. He told me to use a “warm” compress on my eyes which I explained I had done for 1 year straight on a nightly basis while taking Restasis prior to seeing him and that it made my eyes worse afterwards every time, that using a cold/frozen compress worked better. He yelled at me for this saying that I must have been using a “hot” and not “warm” compress. At no point did he explain his perceptional difference between “warm” or “hot” which are useless descriptors without a specific temperature being associated and vary between everyone. This entire appointment lasted less than 10 minutes and he acted the whole time like he was in a massive hurry to leave the room and I was bothering him. He said that there are no alternatives and nothing else he could do for me other than recommending I live with the condition as best I could or possibly seeing Dr. Mohtaseb to see if she had any ideas. He eventually just left the room and wished me happy holidays….didn’t tell me to leave or that the appointment was over he just left the room.Sorry for the long review but I cannot stress enough how degrading and unprofessional Dr. Yen is. I cannot imagine how quickly I would be fired if I went to work and acted the way he does towards other people. Both as a doctor and as a human being Dr. Yen is a horrible person and I strongly recommend anyone against seeing him.In case you are wondering Dr. Mohtaseb discovered the issue with my eyes on the FIRST VISIT and was excellent I am currently being treated for it and hopefully will have normal eyes again soon.
