Been seeing Dr Kantor for over ten years. Would not hesitate to recommend him. He is extremely knowledgeable about addiction and his understanding of depression and anxiety has guided my life. I am continually impressed with his knowledge of all medical disciplines. I receive more accurate advice from Dr Kantor than my primary physician, he is a great resource.

Dr. Jerry Kantor is truly amazing. He has really helped me to get my life back.. Hes so patient, listens to what Im saying and walks gently beside as I improve. I cant say enough positive things about about him & all the doctors who are a part of his practice.. I also want to make mention of his office manager Nancy, who runs the office with such precision, care, understanding & dedication. Nancy is a great asset to Dr. Kantor and the entire staff.. I recommend Dr Jerry Kantor MD or any of his associates. This a fabulous group..

WARNING: WRITTEN WITH GREAT CONCERN. PLEASE READ WITH DILIGENCE AND PROCEED IN YOUR BEST INTEREST.After my psychiatrist from another office retired and my case was closed at that office, I was left to fight PTSD and severe anxiety without my medication or therapist. After two months of truly trying to adjust, but severely struggling being off prescribed and managed medication (Sertraline for transparency purposes), I decided to reach out for help since none of my calls to my former Drs Office had bothered to return any of my calls over the past two weeks [A long time and a lot of fight for someone in my predicament].Unfortunately, I feel like my knuckles were quick-lashed when I reached out to Dr. Kantors office today, Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 around 2:50pm. The receptionist who answered sounded like she was not doing well herself, to be honest. (I will keep her in my non-imprecatory prayers. Humour.) Good thing care is on the way. While our less than empathetic receptionist was quick to tell me that We arent scheduling new patients until 3-4 weeks out. Of which I quickly assured her was fine.Receptionist: Well, we dont accept insurance. Only cash or check.Me: Alright, thats fine. (I tend to research major services before I make appointments but...)R: Well, the initial visit is $325. Each follow up is $225.M: Alright.R: So whats bringing you in?I proceeded to explain the situation I referred to in the 1st paragraph. PTSD/medication management.R: Oh, WELL, we dont prescribe any medication during the initial visit.M: Yes, thats fine. ( No one ethical does...Im not looking for a fix. But at this point I feel more like Im being spoken to like some sort of pill popper rather than the human being I am asking for help. Literally, an appointment.)R: Well, we need your medical records faxed over from your previous provider.M: (feeling pretty crest fallen) As a patient, I havent even been able to get thru to to them for the past two maybe three weeks to get an appointment. What if I cant get a hold of them to fax them over? [And really, this should not be a burden of a patient in the position of ANYONE calling to make a mental health appointment. She could have asked me for the number and gotten thru as a provider. Way to task out your job, Lady.] Then miss receptionist proceeded to argue with me. How is this acceptable???R: Um, no. You can get thru. Theyre a Dr office. Someone has to answer the phone.M: Oh no, they do. Then they put me on hold and transfer me to another person who doesnt answer the phone...R: No. Just tell them they need to fax the records over.M: Um...ok...Then without hesitation or even giving me the fax number, said receptionist hung up. I had no appointment, no fax number, and absolutely no desire to deal with a person/dr/Dr office to experience literal rejection for mental health care ever again. This is why people stop trying. This is why people give up. I wont. And I wont accept the thought of millions of other people in my situation being treated this way with much, much less fortunate outcomes without pointing it out. If this is how youre helping people, please, for the love of life, STOP. This helps NO ONE.

After a lifelong history of dealing with chronic severe atypical depression and a couple other comorbid disorders (attention deficit and some OCD), I have seen many different doctors over the last 40 years--many of whom have been cited in various publications as being some of the countrys top-rated doctors. Although I am extremely grateful to all of them for trying to help alleviate my symptoms and emotional pain, I am most grateful for having found Dr. Kantor. Dr. Kantors extensive medical knowledge and professional experience, combined with his deep compassion for his patients, has helped me immeasurably. Dr. Kantor is the most compassionate, caring doctor I have ever been to. I hope that by being honest and putting my own conditions out there, perhaps I can help others who may be struggling and looking for a wonderful doctor who can help them. I truly believe that Dr. Kantor is the best of the best of doctors in the mental health field.

I first met Dr. Jerry Kantor many years ago when he was a resident in psychiatry at Cornell Medical College, one of the leading medical schools in the country.I was impressed then by his intelligence, interest in all aspects of medicine, confidence in peoples capacity to be helped and most of all his kindness and how much he cared about his patients. Now with many years of experience he is a a superb psychiatrist, therapist, diagnostician and caring human being.I do not live in Fort Myers but I consult Jerry Kantor about problems and always find him wise and helpful. People in Fort Myers are very fortunate to have him.Willa Bernhard PhD

DR. Kantor and his staff are wonderful. He takes the time to listen to you and makes suggestions for your therapy. YOU must be 100% involved in your own recovery. Yes you pay by check or cash and if impossible to get to an appointment you can have a phone appointment. With my broken foot that is great. I am well and need only a few appointments per year now. Rose and Dr. K know the ins nd outs of their patients. He is and MD too, has IBS so he can help first hand with many other interactive problems. Body and Mind need to work together and that is what they do in his practice. Nicole

Dr. Kantor is $200 and is CASH ONLY. There receptionist Susan is rude and over talks you as if you are a child. Forget about getting simple insurance documents signed without a $200 cash appointment and expect to get discharged within one week if you cannot make your scheduled monthly appointment due to any form of financial interruption to your finances. To potential patients: I studied Pharmacology. You should realize that being told by Psychiatry that you lack chemicals in your brain is only half truth and Psychiatrists do not mention cause of mental illness which is commonly either absorption, distribution or metabolism of the nutrients you consume which is causation. For that, you are better off to see an MD to determine causation and determining specific chemical levels (yes you need a little dough or good insurance upfront) to provide Psychiatrists a roadmap before prescribing meds. Otherwise, it is guesswork and the Psychiatrist dont mind that at all because at $200 a pop or $2,400 a year, your great money for 25-30 years and may never feel better.Your better off doing what I did if you need immediate relief and just go to an MD and tell them you suffer from panic attacks or depression at $95 an hour (dont mention ever seeing a Psychiatrist) and then doing a follow-up appointment. Then, you ask that MD if there may be something wrong with your digestive system or circulatory system because you read somewhere that you might be lacking nutrients causing your condition and go from there.Psychiatrists have grown fat, lazy and push all risk onto your plate. There is a saying in economics and physics: Correlation is not causation or simply your symptoms of mental illness are not the cause, an underlying condition is. However, this seems to be the only medical specialty that practices medicine as if the symptom is the cause itself! Beware and dont be fleeced. This man while bright, practices like EVERY OTHER PSYCHIATRIST.

Called Dr. Kantors office for a new patient for my husband. Hes having stress, anxiety and depression from moving from Kentucky and after arriving being in an accident at a hotel. This doctors office only wanted insurance or really cash which we had... They were just rude and showed no compassion or interest.
