Everyone at this establishment is super warm, welcoming and professional. The positive feeling you get when you walk out of there is worth every penny. Ona, as her IG handle suggests, is honestly the hair saint! Every time she gives me a cut and color, it leaves my hair looking so healthy and revived. I have found a deeper love for my curls and have been able to rock a longer length for the first time in years because of her. There are times that I come in with one idea and she rolls with it or she hypes me up by giving me an even better suggestion to make sure I leave there looking my best. She always has her clients best interests at heart. I highly recommend her and this salon, in general, for my curly girls!!!

I have so far gotten two of my trims here and I’m excited to get my hair colored soon. I’m a curly head and honestly getting a trim it’s Scary for us curly heads (well for me) and Natalie made me feel so SECURE. She listened to what I EXACTLY wanted. Gave me some suggestions and she was OKAY we me saying “no I don’t want it this way or like that” and still DID exactly what I wanted. Walked me through the entire process. She made sure I felt comfortable! Gave me a lot of tips as well. Honestly best experience I ever had. Not changing my hair stylist for NOTHING!!! Also, my hair grew fast. My sweet girl Natalie! It was my first time getting a big chop as my curls were dying and I needed major construction!!! I was recommended by a friend but I was unable to book my appointment with her hairstylist so I was given the option of choosing between two hairstylist that were available and I chose Natalie because I loved her work! I have curly hair and I usually do my own hair, but I went to get a curly haircut and highlights by the owner Ona and let me tell you I loved it. My hair turned out amazing, the staff is so friendly and professional, they make you feel home. I went during the pandemic and I felt safe because the salon is not packed at all, that way every client is actually practicing social distancing. The staff makes sure everything is clean for you and you can just relax while you are getting your service.

Cutting my hair after serious heat damage was something I wanted to do for over a year and I’m so glad I had Natalie as my stylist! I think my favorite part was all the tips/tricks she shared about curly hair and how to care for your curls and ofc how genuine she was through the process! Natalie made me feel comfortable and confident to the point where I immediately trusted her to say “okay let’s cut a little more” and I’m so glad I did, I wouldn’t have done that without her! I think most curly haired people have trust issues when it comes to our hair. We all have had experiences where a stylist claimed to be able to cut and style curls, only to end up heartbroken, and/or going back to just straightening it. I originally went to Natalie when she was at a salon in my neighborhood because I had seen her work on social media and was absolutely thrilled to have a curl specialist nearby. When she left that salon, I didn’t keep going there, even though the location was so convenient. I followed HER. I have had three cuts with her now and my curls have never been this healthy or looked this good. I went to 5 Salon and Spa for the first time in November, 2020. During my hair appointment, I became thoroughly educated on my curls, was able to walk through the process of styling, and I received a curly cut by Natalie Budak! She was beyond amazing. I am THRILLED with my results. I have very curly hair and have gotten some bad haircuts in the past so I was a little nervous to try a new place. I went to Amina and had an amazing experience. She was so knowledgeable and friendly. I learned so much about my hair and how to style it. My first visit was about two hours but it was a full consult about my hair, what I want, etc. Then I got my hair washed and that was an amazing and relaxing experience. Amina cut my hair and then walked me through styling it with the best products to use and guidance and suggestions. 5 Salon & Spa is beautiful, clean and the service is wonderful! I have been coming here for about two years. The staff is always nice and professional. Ona is truly The Hair Saint! When we first met she gave me suggestions that have truly helped my curls. I recently scheduled a trim but was concerned due to Covid-19. On the day of my appointment, I walked in the salon and saw several changes to the setting which put me at ease. They have done an outstanding job! They are following all the protocols and guidelines for you to have a safe experience. The service was great! It was wonderful to see everyone after such a long time. I cant begin to express the greatness that is this salon. I got a curly cut by Ona, who from the beginning, was so attentive, informative, and extremely kind. She took the time to ask about my hair journey, which was so comforting b/c curlies know how overwhelming a visit with a new stylist can be. She gave me some life changing information and will forever be grateful to her. I have tons of grays and had them covered by Mia who was the sweetest ever. The covid protocols were impeccable as everyone wore masks properly and social distancing was key. It is no wonder they are booked months in advance. Wow! What an experience. I thought I’d have a great experience judging fromThe reviews but wow! I’m ok for paying for something if you are happy but I left in tears. I wen because my hair was very dried and brittle from a previous dye job a few months ago so I went to get it fixed. The girl told me yes she can fix it, she would make it all one color but ! But! When it washed off it had a red tint to it. As I’m blow drying she takes me and recolored the we hair again and this time it made it worse, it had a purple tint to it. I can see she felt bad and wanted to correct it but o didn’t see me doing this a third time. Never said about going darker until after it was a mess. Then the girl that blow dried says I can do a treatment for $75. I agreed but they had no idea of it should be done before or after the coloring...then she said she will just cut off a few dead end but didn’t say what the charge was, I get downstairs to pay and $75 for the tiniest trim you’ve ever seen. The girl didn’t charge me for the messed up dye job but I paid &150 and left with tears.

My experience... Thursday 10/17I visited 5 Salon and Spa, upon entering you are greeted and they take your coat. How the woman at the reception knew my name... I was impress in the first min.I went to a waiting area, and I was offered a drink by a friendly face. I asked for a coffee and I was sooo delicious and pretty. I waited a little while, from the time of my appointment. However, I did not mind because everyone is working so hard to perfection and I enjoy my cafecito.I was called to the chair, had a lovely conversation and a beautiful hair cut. I am not sure, where you go... but you need to try 5 Salon and Spa. The level of service and professionalism, is out of this word. I live in NYC where supposedly they have the best colorist & stylists but I travel to 5 Salon & Spa every 5 weeks to get my hair colored because KAT is far superior than any stylist in any salon Ive ever been to in NYC. Not only am I a loyal customer but now I regularly bring 2 friends and my niece from NYC to Fort Lee. Trust me, it has nothing to do with price, but everything to do with service. Even more impressive is that we are different colors (some blonde, some brunette) and we all equally adore our hair. Kat is a perfectionist with EVERYTHING she does and makes suggestions as to style and color that always look beautiful. Every person at 5 Salon and Spa is nicer than the next. From the minute you call to make an appointment all the way through to check out, you are made to feel as though you will/have been to a sanctuary where every step is to make you feel zen and important. Not to mention that you will receive the BEST wash (and head massage) that you will ever have! Maggie is my fav but everyone is great.

They are always so polite and professional. I cut my hair with Ona and I wouldnt change her for the world. Scheduling is always a breeze and they try to accommodate you as much as they can (will put you on waiting lists if you cant find a slot). I sat in both of their chairs with an idea of what I wanted but somewhat unsure. They both looked at pictures and listened to what I wanted, but after looking, listening and considering everything, they both suggested something different than what I had in mind. I have been going to Amina for well over five years and have never been disappointed. I have short hair and she always find an awesome new style to try out on me. I recently got married and had Amina do my hair for the wedding. She went above and beyond and took a class to make sure my hair came out exactly the way I wanted. She did an amazing job and I could not have been happier.

Where to start, I came here for the first time all the way from DC, Jen the receptionist while booking made it so pleasant for me working with schedules and trying to give me an appointment for a curly cut with the hairsaint (Ona) since i was coming out of state. When i was at the salon the professionalism and the courtesy, cleanliness i mean i can keep going was out of this world, i was so nervous as it was my first curly cut but she made it so worth it and reassuring for me I wouldn’t trust no one elses hands they definitely earned me for a lifetime client, it is worth the 5 hour drive. To not end there i had all my luggage with me as i was traveling that same day back home and the receptionist and one of the sweet ladies that washes the hair helped me bring them down no questions asked. I truly don’t know how to thank them enough and for making me feel special and to ona for my amazing cut and for listening to me! If you are still thinking about this place, well don’t! Just go you won’t regret a thing.

I was hesitant to visit this salon as I would have to come from the Bronx but it was very easy and manageable to get to, even through public transportation.I booked my appointment with Ona about two months in advance. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a smile, offered a beverage, and escorted to the main salon floor. In a short minute, Ona came by with a smile on her face ready to consult with me.The whole experience was truly wonderful! I went in for a curly cut, as my hair was recently damaged by too much heat and left with much more than a cut. I received tips and advice from Ona, positive energy and vibes throughout the entire visit, and more confident in my look.I booked my next appointment while I was there! Highly recommend, worth the commute from the city.

When my hair stylist left the salon I was getting my hair cut at I didn’t know where to turn. I fortunately crossed paths with Amina Montoya and was never left disappointed by her work. She has done different styles for me, from long hair to short. I was also lucky to have her style my hair for my wedding, which stayed the same way from the beginning to the end, even when some wind and rain were added to the mix! My bridesmaids kept talking about how wonderful their updos were as well. I would highly recommend her for an everyday look or a more formal occasion.

I went to Amina Montoya at Salon 5 on recommendation of my boyfriend, whoses hair is always on point! I was extremely nervous because I was cutting my long, long, hair off in hopes of one of those cute I-woke-up-like-this bobs. My hair is naturally wavy, things can go very wrong when cut too short. Amina gave me that effortless look I was dreaming of! It was soooo cute! If only I could do it daily the way she did, girl is a ninja with the straightener-curling technique! I very much recommend her!

Amina helped me begin my dreadloc journey, almost a year ago. If you know anything about dreadlocs you know that the process [of washing, drying, re-twisting] can be messy and frustrating. However, the patience I did not have for my hair, Amina did. She suggested products to maintain moisture in my locs, as well as oil treatments to cleanse my scalp. Before I started, I didnt know that this hairstyle is actually a lifestyle, but Amina showed me the ways to becoming a locstar and I couldnt be more satisfied. They are just the width I wanted and Ive been maintaining them under her guidance. She told me to trust the dreadloc journey and Im glad I did!

Ive only experienced one of the stylists here, and I can say that Amina Robinson is now my stylist for life. Ive gone through countless hair cuts, barber shops, styles, and self modifications throughout life, and have never ever been satisfied with my hair. I had moved back into the area and found myself in need of a haircut, so my friend recommended her stylist Amina here at salon 5. I have never been too particular as to where I get my hair done, for me it did not matter what chair I sat in or who cut me, just a little shorter, clean it up is pretty universal. After this experience, however, I will never get my hair cut by anyone else. Amina was able to break me out of my normal do and provide a haircut I was happy to show off, as opposed to one that was just there. Not only that, but our conversation surpassed the mundane small talk I was used to. Instead of just waiting for my cut to be done, I didnt want to leave the chair! Amina was easy to talk to, and I could tell she was actually listening, not just responding. Amina has definitely secured my haircuts for life.

I have mixed hair (Im Puerto Rican & Black) so Im always a little nervous when it comes to going to salon for anything other than a hair cut. Im always told go to a Dominican salon when I want it straightened. Which is what Ive done in the past whenever I wanted to get my hair done but sitting under a dryer for hours and then having to endure my hair being pulled was no fun after a while no matter how sleek the end result was. I wanted something different last year but wasnt sure what since I know once you wash your hair and try to come close to that salon look it never happens. She told me she would give me a cut that was easy to maintain even on my own. She literally transformed me in a matter of 2 hours with just a pair of scissors and a flat iron.It doesnt matter what texture, length, or condition your hair is in, Amina will have you walking out the salon like you walked out of a Pantene commercial.Ill be seeing her again next week and I hope this review encourages others to call and ask for her as well.
