They used to be good. Not anymore. One of the worst locations to get a primary physician care. They run it like a business, not a hospital care, with no consideration whatsoever towards a patient. Sooner or later, you will realize that all they care is if you can keep them profitable- nothing more. Even if you empathize that the NPs and doctors are busy or following policies, try engaging their office managers and receptionists in a longer conversation- you will never set a foot in that place. UC Health urgent care and primary care, though not good, are still better than these people.

I noticed a spider bite on my 8-month-old’s leg this morning, panicked (as new moms do), and made my way to the nearest Urgent Care (which, unfortunately, was AFM). The front desk receptionist was patronizing, curt, and unkind. It felt like my presence was a nuisance to her. At one point in our brief conversation, I literally paused to (gently) ask her to be patient with me, because I was having a hard morning (which should be the assumption for all patients who are seeking medical attention at an Urgent Care). She didn’t even look up from her computer or attempt to apologize.A little compassion and sincerity goes a long way, especially from those who work in a medical setting and deal with people in their most vulnerable state (scared, anxious, sick, overwhelmed, etc.). I was treated like an annoyance. The rest of my time at AFM felt clunky and unprofessional (the number to call for check-in was out-of-service, I could hear all of the receptionists’ phone conversations—with doctors and patients alike—and the office itself is confusing to navigate). The saving grace was my interaction with Dr. Stephanie Lockwood, who was lovely, patient, and greatly empathetic.Needless to say, I’m so discouraged by my experience and will be finding a different Urgent Care for my family’s needs in the future.

I had to wait an hour and a half to be seen despite another patient walking in 30 minutes after me being seen within 5 minutes. when i politely requested a time estimate i got a snarky response from the rude front desk people and when waiting for the doctor i got told in a very sarcastic tone “we’re urgent care, we’re busy” then the nurse proceeded to chuckle and glare at me. i totally understand a business being busy especially with the pandemic but i cannot excuse the rude behavior of staff. the actual doctor is the only decent human being in this place and even then i am STILL waiting exactly 98 minutes after arriving and i’m the only patient i’ve seen other than the woman let in before me. truly disgusting behavior from these nurses who would rather chat about their kids halloween costumes than do their jobs.

I have been here multiple times. The doctors and nurses that I dealt with were for the most part rude and unprofessional. I was mis-diagnosed at an appointment here as well and given a prescription that did nothing for me. My doctors nurse told me to find a different doctor because she did not know what an adrenal test is and was unwilling to help me which was very uncalled for. I was told my doctor was not capable of doing a simple blood test because she didnt know what it was. Very disappointing experience every time. I would recommend to seek a more professional doctors office.

My most recent visit to Associates in Family Medicine is such a great example of why I feel lucky to have come across this clinic. The staff who greeted me initially and explained the covid screening procedures were wonderful. The nurse I visited with was also very kind, and friendly. I appreciate Dr. Van Farowe very much; I like that even during a well visit she is always seeking ways to make her patients even healthier. I appreciate that she cares about sleep, stress, and nutrition. It means a lot to me that she took so much time to talk with me, and that a scribe accompanies her so that she can focus upon her patients, rather than on the computer.Dr. Van Farowes attentiveness is unusual in our current age, in which health care often means only seeing a doctor for 10 minutes or so. She is such a welcome contrast to what one usually finds these days.

We use this location for the Urgent Care facilities. Weve used it more times than Id like, and that has absolutely nothing to do with the Urgent Care and everything with me wishing my family wasnt constantly trying to die from one ailment or another, something this group always does something to prevent. The doctors and staff at this location are amazing. Its mostly a rotating staff from all of the AFM locations, so while youre unlikely to get the same doctor twice, youre almost guaranteed to get care that is second to none because youre dealing with AFM.The facilities themselves are excellent with plenty of rooms to cover the needs. Even when they are slammed with people, Ive never waited for more than an hour, and when I say slammed, I mean there were probably at least 20 people ahead of me.You want to know what compassion and kindness looks like? Introduce yourself to the front end staff who hear every possible story of every possible ailment and still manage to show such empathy for every case as the person complains about their particular issue, big or small. They also look out for you. Ive come in right as their close time ticked over and they didnt hesitate to take care of my daughters, staying late to make sure the first ones issues were dealt with (strep) and then staying longer to take care of the second daughter who had picked it up from her sister.Looking for a place that will take care of you in whatever your need? Drop by. Theyve got it handled.

A year ago we had an appointment for getting a note signed by a physician from this office. We were originally told we did have insurance at check in. But came to find out 2 months later we didnt have the insurance. We spent months arguing with insurance to no avail. So we had to pay the $130 bill. We made a payment of $40 as soon as we could and have asked for an additional payment plan. We are now being refused any appointments or treatment until the bill is paid in full even though we have told them we have half of that tomorrow before the appointment. They are still cancelling until payment is made in full. THESE OFFICES DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR WELL BEING. ONLY MONEY. While Dr. Blackler was great, we are literally unable to return. Your office has threatened us too many times. We will not choose between our well being and your bill regardless of the threats. Youll get your money as soon as we can but my family will not miss meals, lose warmth for this BS. SHAME ON YOU.

When the doc walked in he introduced himself asked me what was wrong I told him and he went straight to how to cure my cold. Which I was not there for. He said that my back pain was from my cold which it is not. He never discussed my chest pain or anything. We felt rushed. I only went here cause my doc was out of the office. I went to my doc today and she found what was wrong with me and actually took the time to discuss my pain. I will never return to this urgent care. I rather go to a uchealth urgent care.

I often go here because it is honestly the only place open short of an emergency room when I need care. But I always get in and out quickly and have always received compassionate and fair help. I honestly cannot conceive of some of the comments here. If you have an unpaid bill....then pay it. They provided service...by golly pay for it! Also, if you are in pain it can morph your perceptions. They likely were a lot more compassionate than you perceived. Health care providers have to provide compassionate care in as dispassionately a manner as possible. If that sounds like a contradiction...it is. Cut the poor people at the desk a little slack...they are likely cutting you a lot.

The nurse told me to watch my language as I scream-cried through a kidney stone. Maybe if your sensibilities are so delicate you cant handle someone cursing in intense, visceral pain, you shouldnt be in the medical profession, especially if youre going to proceed to noticeably shove the thermometer into my ear harder than should be done. Everyone else was very nice and helpful, but nobody should have to worry about the quality of treatment theyll receive based on the way they communicate pain.

While I was seen by a doctor quickly, the doctor was in the room for a total of two minutes and just briefly glanced at the small laceration on my hand. She didn’t touch or really examine the wound. Then, as I checked out I was told that I had not actually been seen by a doctor yet (what?) and that none of the doctors, when the receptionist asked, remembered seeing me. So I was told to sit back down in the waiting room and the nurse would come get me so the doctor could do their exam. 30 minutes later, I went up to the front desk and was told that I did in fact already see a doctor and was now good to go. Good thing I went back up to the desk to make sure they were still planning to see me. Overall, a pretty confusing and frustrating experience.

They will nickel and dime you every single chance they get. They will schedule the wrong appointment and then tell you itll be two weeks to get another correct appointment. I am now searching for another provider and would definitely recommend you seek treatment elsewhere.UPDATE: After my appointment was deemed incorrect and I was told it would be two weeks to get another and I objected, I was shuffled off to Urgent Care. A nurse and Dr. spoke to me then I was made to wait for an entire HOUR while they figured out how to write 22 words on a prescription pad and print out a referral to the PLACE IVE ALREADY BEEN and not to the place I need to go. 🤔 Inept. After the ultrasounds, there was no clear instructions on WHO was going to look at the results. Never heard anything back from Associates in Family medicine! Three weeks later, the exact same thing happened, and basically had to do the EXACT same thing.....but this time with a Urologist (which you would think would have been recommended by the doctors at A.F.M.) Just felt like I was RUSHED in, had zero information or game plan on what the next step was in getting me better, and was left scrambling to figure out what to do....not to mention the amount of money I now owe. The urgent care may be good for very minor emergencies, but with the amount of pain and discomfort I was obviously in, I was certainly hoping for more professional care.

I emailed the doc again informing her of the medication I had found. (something which should not have been necessary) I called in more than a week later to find that the email had not been reviewed and my doc and that she wasnt available to talk. I was promised a call back that never came. I called again the next week, again she was busy and I left a message. No return call was received. I ran out of medication yesterday and called again to find out that they cancelled me as a patient. I was told that 2 return calls were made but I have an answering service connected to the number they called and no calls or messaged were received or recorded. They also said they sent a certified letter that I never received and they admitted it was returned to them as not received. I asked for one more refill of the very expensive medicine at least until I could locate and get set up with another doctor and was denied, the reason given was that they had tried to contact me unsuccessfully so they refused to refill it now. NONE of this makes sense and now I am left without the medicine I need. Thanks for nothing Dr. McCreery, I will keep you in my prayers as you are obviously practicing medicine for some reason other than helping people. Sad.

Ive been a patient here for 20 years. The last few times Ive been in the front desk staff is rude, its extremely hot, and weve had to wait for over 45 minutes for a regular appointment. Maybe its time to look for a new practice. I would not recommend any of my family or friends here... When they send you a text reminder to be at your appointment 15 minutes early, one would expect to be seen on time.... Sad to see this place going down hill!

I started out needing a place to go for a doctor of a particular specialty and she practices here....In the basement. ... and it took me a very long time to get an appointment. ...but once I met her I could see why.... she majors in the majors and minors in the minors. ....rare in her specialty. ...and refreshing.

I will never go back unless there are no other urgent care alternatives in the entire city. I went in with a fever, chills, body aches, and swollen, infected tonsils. They tested for Strep and flu, both were negative. The PA then proceeded to dismiss my misery as just a virus and sent me home with no antibiotics. I was in bad shape and so were my tonsils. By the next day I was still doing poorly. Lucky for me I remembered I had a entire Azithromycin pack that I had not used from something else and started taking the antibiotics. Within 6 hrs the infection on my tonsils was better. By the next morning the infection was mostly gone, and my sinuses felt normal. Obviously I had a really bad BACTERIAL infection, which needed to be treated with antibiotics. Im not sure what would have happened to me if I hadnt had some on hand. I understand the reticence to prescribe antibiotics willy nilly for things like rhinoviruses (colds) because they only work on bacterial infections, however I dont really think you needed to be a genius to see that I had severe tonsillitis. Seriously, my tonsils were covered in pus. To me this signals gross incompetence on the part of the PA. To make matters worse the nurse who did the nasal swabbing for the flu was so rough, and pushed the swab so far up my nose, I expected the swab to come out with brain tissue on it. It was horribly painful. It is completely unnecessary to do that to patients. If there is virus there gently taking a sample will still get the necessary sample. If I could give this place and its staff a zero I would. I feel their incompetence and negligence significantly threated my well being, and could have caused me significant harm.

Most all of the doctors at AFM are amazing. This past week, my son was very sick and a specialist wanted to put him in the hospital. Our primary doctor wanted to see him first so he fit him into his schedule and assessed him very thoroughly. He decided hospitalization was not needed, gave him a shot of antibiotics plus a prescription and he is now doing great. I am grateful for a wonderful family doctor that took extra time to see us, made sure we got the best care needed and saved us a ton of money! Thanks to the wonderful staff at AFM for everything.

This place is a joke. I missed the appt by a few minutes while waiting out by the receptionist for over 5 minutes while she came back with warmed up breakfast (Eggs and bacon and so forth). But as a new patient they put me as a no call and wouldn’t get me in. The receptionist was extremely rude. Had to go to urgent care downstairs to get seen for something non urgent. Incredibly frustrating. As a new patient I will never come back, nor will I recommend this place. Be aware of horrible customer service and lack of caring.

We received excellent care as soon as we entered this facility. The receptionist was kind and professional. Our wait was minimal. The Medical Asst. was professional and explained what and why she did things. She had a good sense of humor. Dr. Colip listened carefully to each of us (my husband and I were both sick). He did thorough exams and did not rush us through. I am a nurse and pretty critical of medical people. We moved to this area and I know longer knew what doctors were good. DrPodhajsky is our FP Doctor and he is awesome! This our Urgent Care of choice now if he cannot see us. I feel in good hands with Dr Colip and the staff! Thank you for your great care!!!Mary

AFM is the best practice in the area, maybe even the state. I have been a patient since AFM only had a few doctors at the Harmony Road office. My sons and I have always had great care. OK, maybe if you HAVE to get in and see the doctor who is available you might not get the usual care because that doctor will not know you. But other than that they delivered both my sons, kept us healthy, and were there when we needed them.I have had one billing issue that got very intense. But it was a mix up due to my son moving and the office not getting an updated address to get the billing to him.when he checked in. After a few tense phone calls it was corrected.Doctor Kessler is simply the best doctor they have.Regards,Steven Griffin
