They have been wonderful with my middle child who needed braces for crowding issues. He also happens to be my child who has a lot of anxieties, so they were really wonderful about putting him at ease. He’s had to go back for follow-ups, and he has no fear about! Whew! They are wonderful! Highly recommend!

Both of our kids were referred to Dr Struckhoff by their dentist. They do a great job of making the kids feel comfortable and getting them acclimated to the office and the process.

After searching and gathering recommendations for an Orthodontist for what seemed like forever, we decided to go with Struckhoff. I have never experienced a process so easy, welcoming, and just simply wonderful. They really do walk you through the entire process and before signing anything, they have a entire plan laid out for you. There was absolutely no pressure at all. They are extremely professional, but yet warm and welcoming and very expedient! I could not have found anyone better.

So now we’re talking with the money person. She informs me that I need to tell them right away if my insurance changes. Quizzical look on my face. She informs me that the quote they gave me before, estimating what our balance would be, well that’s the TOTAL total insurance payment. The insurance pays them monthly and if our insurance changes, they’ll stop paying. Our dental insurance terminates at the end of this month. A huge reason why I’m even here, trying to get this done, despite their shenanigans.Instead of covering the 20% of the cost of the braces, like we were expecting, I find out today that since we’ll only get one insurance installment covered, it comes out to 4% of the total cost. I told her we would still pay the balance in full, but it would have been helpful if we had known this process beforehand. Then she hands me a sheet about Jena’s treatment plan. She says it should be old news, the doctor should have gone over this in detail during our consult. I look at her like she’s crazy. Since I wasn’t allowed in last time, no adult in our family has seen or talked to the doctor in almost a year. I don’t *think* I’ve ever seen this information, but if I had... it’s been TEN MONTHS, and I certainly don’t remember having a detailed conversation with anyone about it. I let her know, that no, this is the first time I’m seeing it, because y’all wouldn’t let me in last time. So now I’m reviewing the details of her treatment plan... with the finance person. 🤦🏼‍♀️Then it’s time for her to go back. They tell me it’ll be about 90 minutes. They’ll bring her out to me and go over after care instructions with me in the car. She informs me that I can either wait in the parking lot, or I can leave and run errands. But it’s clear they expect me to leave.I turn to Jena and ask her if SHE is comfortable with me leaving. Her eyes look down, turn dart up to the lady, then back to my eyes. She’s clearly very anxious. I tell her whatever she answers is fine. It’s HER decision. She says she’s okay “but please don’t leave the parking lot!”. I tell her okay. If SHE’S okay with me leaving, I will go outside, and I promise not to leave the parking lot.Looking around at the number of other cars idling in the parking lot with moms in the drivers seat, and knowing the size of the building and treatment area, I feel confident that my suspicions are accurate, so I will repeat what I said after our last visit:If the majority of your patients are pediatric patients, and you cannot allow even one adult to accompany them IN THE BUILDING in order to meet government guidelines, then you are seeing too many patients.I understand the previous government shutdown and the continued restrictions have you worried about your ability to remain a viable business, I really do. You have my sympathy. But push back to the people restricting you, push back against the restrictions that are making it difficult for you to treat your patients and their families the way you should and still pay your bills. Don’t make your patients pay for their decisions. Stand up to them, not us.

Every. Stinking. Visit.Jena is having her braces put on today. Keep in mind, between her shark teeth, needing an extraction, and then the government shutdown, this is only our 3rd time here in 10 months. Neither she nor I are “regulars” here yet. We don’t have an established relationship with the doctor or staff yet. We had seen them one time, 9 months earlier, when they asked me to send my 11 yo in alone last month. They confirmed her appointment last week via text. I ask if I will be permitted in the office, as she is only 11 yo. They respond, in writing, that since she is having a procedure done, yes, one parent can come in.Okay. Good.I get here. I go in. I’m informed at the door that I can stay only long enough to fill out the paperwork and pay, then I have to leave. Not wanting to embarrass my daughter, who is already really nervous, I fume silently. This is not what was communicated to us.So... I can come in so you can take my money, but not to provide moral support for my extremely nervous child? Got it, I see your priorities. They call Jena back. I assume to start her procedure, so I stay in my chair. A minute later, the lady comes back and says “you were supposed to come too, we need you to pay”. I explain that I didn’t know. Last time I was here you wouldn’t let me in the building, now I’m supposed up know that I go back with her, after I’ve been told I’m only here to pay? She says something like “that’s how we do it”, and I respond with “better communication would help”.
