Just had a reverse shoulder replacement. Dr O’Malley and his staff were excellent! I was extremely nervous about this surgery as I know it is painful with a long recovery, but I knew down the road I would lose most of my arm function, have more pain and might be too old to be a surgical candidate as time went on. I opted to get it done now. I am so thankful I went with Dr O’Malley. He took his time going through the procedure with me, as did his wife Karyn who is the PA in the OR with him. What a great team! I am now 3 days post op, home, and managing my pain very nicely. He has done more shoulder surgeries than any other orthopod on the cape, and he gives lectures on it. I would highly recommend him!

Some reviews I saw here scared me so I was hesitant to see Dr. O’Malley. I am so glad I didn’t get scared off by these reviews. I need two shoulder surgeries due to falls. I had seen another orthopedist and the office and the doctor were very negligent. I have not had the surgery is yet but I must say that Dr. O’Malley and his staff have been nothing but attentive. I will give a further review after I heal from the surgery i I had seen another orthopedist and the office and the doctor were very negligent. I have not had the surgeries yet but I must say that Dr. O’Malley and his staff have been nothing but attentive. I will give a further review after I heal from the surgeries But I didn’t want the negative reviews regarding an in attentive office and return calls to scare anyone away.

I arrived here to find Dr. OMalleys address in order to send him a thank you letter. Since only his office will ever see the letter, I thought I should add a note here for others considering seeing him.The short version: Many years ago I had a pretty bad knee injury and had ACL surgery from another Ortho on the Cape. It didnt work out well and I had lingering pain and instability. I got several 2nd opinions - each guy virtually patted me on the head and told me it wasnt so bad and I should take up easier activities (I was a field biologist, runner, and hiker - also a woman in my mid-40s). So I gave up and focused on doing the best I could with what I had. A new primary care doc convinced me to give it one more try with OMalley. He listened carefully, took me seriously, said he was pretty confident he could get some improvement through an ACL revision but didnt promise me the moon. I did the surgery and was diligent with rehab. This was about 10-years ago. Since then, Ive continued my career, run 3 half marathons, backpacked at least twice every summer, and hiked a whole heck of a lot. None of it would have been possible without that 2nd surgery.I cant recommend him highly enough.

I have never written a review for the public before but my experience with the incredibly poor patient care has me warning folks to stay away. I have a severe shoulder injury; was misdiagnosed during the first appt; had I not sought out my own treatment for pain management with acupuncture and body work, and then advocated for follow up imaging, I would still be walking around with a less serious diagnosis. Fortunately, my intuition led me to providers with greater compassion and easier scheduling (not canceling (twice) or over scheduling appts). I don’t know about OMalleys surgery skills, but if his own office etiquette and management are reflective of a level of service, it is below mediocre.

Dr. OMalley and PA-C Karen Trait and their office staff are outstanding. Three times Dr. OMalley and his staff put my mother back together after multiple falls from a broken hip, a shoulder replacement, and a fractured arm. Never once did Dr. OMalley hesitate to help her regardless of her age (90+) even when she had been denied treatment at a Boston hospital. He evaluated her strength not her age. My family and I are SO appreciative of all Dr. OMalley and Karen have done for our mother. After three significant falls - she always came out stronger than when she fell. They are true professionals who care about their patients and clearly communicate a treatment plan with long term goals. Thank you for your help over the last several years.
