My mother lived at The Terrace for six years. During that time I never had one complaint about any aspect of her care, living conditions, meals, amenities or administration. I have experience with other facilities and have to say that The Terrace is everything you would hope for an assisted living. It allowed my mother to remain independent yet she was cared for and watched over in a loving environment. I cant say enough about Ginny and the entire staff at The Terrace. They do a wonderful job! It truly is the place people love to live.

My father (now 100 years old) enjoys living at the Terrace. It was my responsibility to find an independent living home for my Dad over one year ago. Of course I wanted someplace that I felt my Dad would like, which included friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, friendly residents. Clean environment, good food (where he could choose what he wanted to eat each day) plus various activities. At first my task felt daunting but I feel so fortunate to have found all of the above plus much more all at a reasonable cost. I feel very fortunate to have found The Terrace for my Dad.

I have five stars for the following reasons:1. September 11, 2017 I moved from Florida to begin a new phase in my retirement...living in a single family home to residential living in Terrace.2. My experience has been, for the most part, very positive.3. Those in management are well qualified; have a clear understanding of their residents who are in various phases of their retirement; willing to listen to concerns, especially residents who struggle with moving to a new environment. They are friendly and willing to listen to suggestions for changes.4. Management and Staff in food service provide healthy and a wide variety of meals three times a day. Their buffets on special celebratory days are outstanding. My guests love being invited to enjoy these special meals.5. The Activities Director provides and encourages participation in many opportunities for being “Fit for Life”. These activities range from exercise classes, to conducting Terrace Singers, to excursions outside the parameters of Columbia, MO., or providing support for card games, brain games, discussion groups, and much more.6. Security is a major concern for me and the residents. I feel safe at the Terrace. I know I can call the front desk at anytime, day or night, and I will hear a friendly voice. Doors are locked from 5:00pm - 7:00am. When I had a concern about a specific incident it was quickly handled.7. The Cleaning and Maintenance Staff are hard working. They are friendly, efficient, fill work orders as promptly as possible and go “out of their way” to make the building and grounds and enjoyable place to live.

Moved my 90 y. o. mother to The Terrace in 2016. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay, from the apartment itself to the meals, staff, and friends she made. As a caregiver I had peace of mind that should not be overlooked. We give the highest marks to The Terrace.

The Terrace offers a lively social community and easy living for my folks. A pleasant environment and stellar staff, spacious apartments, tasty meals and housekeeping included, transportation, maintenance, and entertainment available, all make The Terrace a great value. The community areas are impeccably clean, the staff caring, and their attention to detail impressive. Ginny Edgar is a gem.

My parents have lived at The Terrace for almost a year. My father has had some health issues and has been in and out of the hospital. The business office has helped make sure I receive an invoice in advance so I can keep the bills straight. The staff are very helpful. Maitenance follows through as promised. The whole building is clean and comfortable. The residents are friendly and look out for each other. I am pleased with my parents choice to move to The Terrace. I find it very affordable and they both are happy living at The Terrace. That makes a difference.

I am so glad I chose the Terrace three and a half years ago when I was looking for a senior apartment. I couldnt have chosen better. Wonderful staff work here, very caring. I feel they provide everything I need and more. The people who live here are friendly, helpful and ready to join us for trips, card games, shopping, meals out, movies... Its a great place to live.

Oh my, not sure who that lady was, but I have lived at The Terrace for over two years and absolutely LOVE it here. Comfortable, friendly, secure, clean and all the staff (servers included) are just as sweet as can be...Like a real family to me. They honestly care about you! My apartment is kept clean by a housekeeper and if anything is wrong, I just phone in a work order and its fixed within 24 hours. They have security checking system to make sure you are doing OK and an emergency pull cord if you need help. The common areas like dinning rooms, living rooms, library, exercise room and all are kept spotless and organized. There are lots of activitys offered for interaction with other residents, or you can simply stay in your apartment and not be bothered by anyone - thats your call. The food is wonderful from daily specials to 3 different menus, depending upon which of the 3 dinning areas your choose to use, each with servers who go out of their way to know your name and your preferences. My name is John Green and I can honestly say that...I Live Living at The Terrace!

I worked here for a whole 1 shift. Including me, there were about 10 people as waitresses and I got more help from the people that worked in the kitchen. The girl training me, Jackie, was supposed to be the best but would mumble something and run off before I could say What? So I didnt know how to make tea, take orders, set tables, or use the cash register so I filled drinks all night. Then near the last hour of my shift one of the managers yelled at me because I didnt know where the clean silverware was. I stood in the kitchen for another half hour after learning how to partially set a table because I had nothing else to do. By this point I was close to tears (my eyes were very watery) and the only two people I liked (Nina and Jessica) had walked by once and said hi. Nina was very nice, saying the first day was always the hardest. I didnt see Jackie for the rest of the night and I told Julie I quit. I left in tears and my ride was PISSED, she brought me back inside to talk to Julie and Julie didnt want to talk. I said it was a hostile environment and she left. The next day a male friend of mine and I went back to talk to the other manager, Glen. He was about as helpful as Julie. Basically saying that Julie and Jackie where the best at their jobs (or in my words the sun shone out their asses). I told him Jackie ran off at the start of my shift, Julie wasnt ANY help and that the two people in the kitchen were more helpful in telling me things than anyone else. His response was Well, I told you that you wouldnt learn everything the first night. I replied with at the very least Julie didnt need to shout an me for not knowing where the silverware was. He ignored me and said I could have my job back if I came back in but I said I didnt want to and that if they knew theyd be short 1 person (they told me this when I came in) that they could call the two I know and live with (they worked there too) to come in. And apparently Julie is incompetent for not doing this when she knew then person wasnt going to be there three days prior. Then I stormed out. I am very aware I couldve taken the second chance and tried harder, hell I even asked Julie if I could have another day of training without Jackie and she said no so I wasnt going back. I dont cry easily but Id spent all of last night crying because I quit my first job then all morning because I wanted to go back and see if I could try again. But this is one place no one should take as a first job. It was a horrible experience and everyone there (excluding Nina- I would add Jessica but she quit also) was rude, unhelpful, and abrasive. At least I can be childish and flip off the building everytime I drive past.Edit: I also remembered that I didnt even get paid for the 4/5 hours I worked.

The Terrace is a wonderful place in which to live! When we determined to sell our home, downsize and move to a retirement home we learned immediately that we had to find a place in which we could afford, but live comfortably, enjoy the residents and fee secure. We lived in Olathe, Kansas and we inspected three retirement homes near our home. We were happy with the places in the Kansas City area as we felt the residents were not as friendly nor the staff not very helpful or attentive as we wished nor were the financial arrangements acceptable. We then determined we should look at the retirement homes in Columbia, Missouri where our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren live. After we looked at retirement homes in Columbia we decided that the in which we participate Community was the place for us because everyone at he Terrace, the residents, the wait staff and administrative personnel is so friendly. We have lived here a little over three years and have enjoyed many activities in which we participate; the food which is really wonderful; and the availability to church, shopping and our son and family, who, by the way, really enjoy having either breakfast, lunch or dinner with us occasionally. It has been a wonderful and enjoyable three plus years at The Terrace. We are family!Linda and Harvey McCray
