I’ve been coming to this place for a while now to do my annual eye exam. Staff are very nice and I like their customer service. They offer products and can answer anything. I love their selection of eyewear. Eye doctors here explain things in a very understandable way, great “bedside manners” and service is fast.

Eye dr is great here! Main complaint would be the younger girls in the front, they are obviously not trained in customer service. I had an appointment Monday and before spending $$ on some prescription sunglasses, wanted to think about it. Came back today to take a look, there was an Asian girl who took my temperature, didn’t really ask why I was there or anything. I proceeded to let her know id like to try on extra sunglasses to make sure the ones I picked were the ones I wanted. I would point some out, one of the girls would come back from behind the desk, open the case and hand me the sunglasses then return back to the desk. I felt like I was bothering them. She made it seem like I was asking her to pay for the sunglasses too. Not a great feeling when you’re spending close to $450 on an item. As mentioned, I do like the doctor, she was great, but the staff in the front should learn how to properly greet customers, and sell, it’s their job!

I was not pleased with the customer service at all. The staff was not knowledgeable about contacts. She was not detailed on pricing or information related to contacts. I had to ask question after question.This is the first time I have had that experience with Otay Ranch. They have all new employees now and it shows!!

Optometrist are nice, but the support staff is forgetful, poorly trained, and lacks attention to detail. I don’t know that I will ever come back here after my order comes in

I had a bad experience with this people. My family and I had been customers for over 3 years. On my last purchase, I was charged twice for the same items, when I brought it to the manager attention, he made it sound like that was almost impossible to do and most probable my fault. No apology, just all attitude. Will never buy from this people overpriced frames and very limited selection too.

Poor customer service. Harmony wasn’t nice at all to us, and making rude comments to us. Like “chanel for a boy?”, he’s just a kid! She wasn’t very helpful when we were picking my son’s frame but arrogant when aswering back. I will never return to this place.

I found this place through the VSP website and set my appointment 2 weeks in advance with the front desk. I received an email confirming my appointment and it was completely wrong. I called to make sure I had the right date and time. They told me it was fixed. Then I received a second email confirming my new appointment which had the wrong time again. I sent an email making sure I again had the right time and they replied that they fixed it.I got a text message the day before (yesterday) to confirm my appointment which I did. Then I got a call from someone in the front desk to confirm my appointment again... At this point I was like WHOA they either really dont know what theyre doing or someone just wants to make sure Im coming in.So here I am now for my appointment and I present my insurance cards and they let me know that the systems are down and they cant verify my insurance (youd think they would have done that at the onset when they set up my appointment) . That I will have to pay out of pocket for my exam and that they are so sorry...I should have known that a company that cant get their appointments down right from the get go was going to be a waste of time.Dont waste your time too!

I was very dissapointed on the way i was greeted like if i was not important. Iam a paying customer the employee did not seem to care about me she kept walking away and seem to be more interested in other customers. i wish i would have walked away and not spend close to 900 dollars on eye glasses

Every time I come into the office each one makes me feel welcome and comfortable and secure. Their patient and willing to understand your needs. I’ve been with otay eyeworks since 2012 & im very disappointed with my recent experience with them. my contacts are special order so they take a month to a month & a half to arrive. I called & ordered beginning of march, when i called a few weeks later to check on the status of my order they told me it would arrive early April. I called again first week of April & they told me something completely different, that they had barely been ordered the 31st of March & would now take a whole other month to get here. Why were they ordered an entire month after I called & why did someone lie & tell me they’d be here early April? Can someone answer me those questions because otay eyeworks couldn’t 💀

Great eye doctor and friendly staff! I went for a medical evaluation. They’re my favorite for getting my eyeglasses and if I have any eye issues.

As for my first visit, I am pleased with the customer service we received here. The one who assisted me and my husband was Elissa (she was asian) and she was so nice, patient, and really knew her stuff! She was so pleasant! Definitely ask for her when you visit Eyeworks:)

I have a very high prescription and get anxious when I have to see a new eye doctor bc they don’t usually listen to me regarding what brand/type of contacts work for me - but this experience was excellent!!!!! Everyone was patient and communicative, and I am very grateful!

I was very nervous to go there, because of some of the reviews, especially that I had an emergency and I already had high anxiety. I was very positively surprised! The lady, Christine at the front desk was very nice, friendly and professional. My appointment was on time and the Dr was very kind and thorough and everybody answered all my questions and went above and beyond.

The optometrist was really great but the front staff was just okay. It was really awkward at first when I walked in and no one greeted me, no one said anything to me, they all just looked at me. So I said I was there for an appointment and they got to work.

When we arrived to the appointment we were greeted immediately as we walked in. Luis & Dr. Lee are very professional and friendly. Great communication during the exam explaining what they were doing each step of the way. I appreciated the conversation because I felt comfortable during the exam and understood what was being said and done. They have a great selection of frames and I took my time to find “the one” without being rushed. See you next year! Thank you!!!

We just left Eyeworks and they were very professional! My wife said the said the same. When we walked in we were greeted with smiles and a happy to help team attitude. Kylie is absolutely wonderful took care of breaking everything down for me prior to committing to an exam. Made an appointment and came back about an hour later for a same day exam. Saw Dr Lee who was again very professional courteous. The exam was quick and very thorough. Frames were ordered, pretty quickly due to speaking with Kylie beforehand and deciding on what I wanted. Ive been coming here since I moved to Chula Vista, and they are always friendly, helpful and professional. My eye exam yesterday was done thoroughly but efficiently, and the doctor explained everything to me as he went along. The support staff are great as well, always smiling when I come for adjustments or other services. A great neighborhood provider!

Fast, and thorough service. Both of my young children got their exams done in less than 30 minutes. We will be going somewhere else to get glasses though, as the prices were pretty high for kids (top shelf brands).

The Staff was friendly, courteous and professional from the moment I walked in the door. All the different aspects of each part of the eye test were explained to me in very simple, laymans terms. Excellent customer service. They take the time to explain the results of your examination as well help you pick out glasses/contacts and the different lens types(glare, blue light blocking for computer work etc). I asked A LOT of questions , they were patient and answered all my questions. When I was looking for a particular pair of sunglasses for bike riding that they didn’t have in the store they ordered it for me so I could try them out. That staff is very knowledgeable. I will definitely will be coming back. Thank you!

Fast service but not too up front when it come to prices and add-on. If your trying to save and hopefully only used your insurance without spending more. They will offer you a quick add ons next time you know you got a bit of a bite out of your budget. But overall they know their glasses and contacts.

The personnel is kind and friendly, but the service is awful, I ordered my kids lenses 5 weeks ago, they said they’ll be ready in 2 weeks, no phone call, or explanation, I just called yesterday and they told me they still don’t have a date for my order to be fulfill, “probably in one more week”, but what if I don’t call, they don’t care about customer service apparently, awful experience, in the meantime my kids don’t have their proper lenses prescription,

I have been coming here for the past four years and have always been happy with the service and professionalism of the staff and doctors here at Otay Ranch Eyeworks. I will definitely endorse them for all eyeglass and I examinations and certainly guarantee That you will be happy and satisfied as I am.

While the service is good and the exam is good. The upsell is brutal !!! These glasses get real expensive when they try to upsell all these add ons. I have insurance but it does really cover all the add ons they want to sell you. And its not just the add ons their are now different levels of the add ons tooo ? How convenient. I may have to go back to Costco less than half the price they just dont have that good of a selection as this place does.

Due to recent changes in the government health plans for military retirees, I was unsure about the vision coverage my family had. My wife and I went for our annual exam, and I asked if the front office staff could help me understand my coverage. I went home downloaded some info and went back to Eyeworks. We discussed what I had, and realized that I had a primary insurance that I hadnt used earlier. Without hesitation, the previous charges were voided, and the new charges under other plan were submitted. A savings of $134.00. Great front office staff, know their stuff, worked very well together, and saved us much needed dollars. Thank you to all the staff involved.

I dont have any pics but I will tell you that the staff is always professional and friendly and the doctor is very knowledgeable. My husband and I go there and now our kids too. Give them a shot, you wont be disappointed . They truly care about their customers!

My entire family has visited Otay Ranch Eyeworks. We were all surprised on how efficiently and quickly we were seen - hardly any waiting. I was very impressed with the two doctors that treated us. I received more information from them about our eyesight that I was never told before. They were very thorough and we are glad we started going to them.

All of the staff was amazing! They created an environment that encouraged me to ask questions about my eye health and prescriptions. If they sold food, gas, lights and water they would have all my business. With as busy at it was on a Saturday afternoon, they made me and my wife feel as though we were the only customers that they were sent to service on this day. The words Customer Service are more than just a marketing tool; no for each of the staff members it is a way of doing business. My hats off to all the staff and Doctor Mary King! Dr. King treated me and my wife as though we were family, it was more like having my daughter perform the examination. Loved this!I will, without any hesitation, recommend Otay Ranch Eyeworks to all my family, friends and work associates!

I love their customer service because the assistants always follow up on matters with you and they even send you yearly birthday email. Also, they are always happy to have you in their store; they show their kindness to everyone. For example, when I was unable to drive home after my eye examination, one of the assistants, whose name I wrote down in my file, offered driving me to my house; and she did! Isnt it awesome to know that this store really cares about you? I have recommended Otay Ranch Eyeworks to my friends and family already.

I was here on 10/16/2018. I was able to make a same day appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, I was promptly greeting by a smiling employee. I was taken back for my exam on time, no waiting. The assistant doing the pre-exam was friendly. I met with the Doctor, she was very nice, calm and relaxing. We went through the exam so smoothly and effortlessly. She explained everything and answered any questions. Then it was time to pick out frames. This is the part I dread. I am not fashionable and I am self conscience. So I get nervous and weirded out about picking out frames, trying them on and looking in the mirror. Luckily, Nicole was there to walk me through the whole process. She was very friendly, calm and patient. She listened to what I was looking for and showed me dozens of different styles and helped me find the pairs I look the best in. Absolutely no pressure, no rush, very easy. She had a smile the whole time and made the experience fun. Overall, I had a great experience here. I would highly recommend, and as I promised the doctor, I wont wait 10-years between eye exams.

I saw the doc here a few years back and she did what the naval medical center optometry could not do. I needed to have my eyes corrected to 20/20 for DEA agent applicant purposes and she got my eyes corrected and was bale to clear that hurdle in the medical check. Thanks ORE for the assist. Staff was very helpful, knowledgable and patient while I was looking for frames for glasses. They offered opinions on styles and what actually fit and looked good on my face. The doctor was just as pleasant. The eye exam was easy and informative. She even gave advice to care for my eyes. I really loved the service here. I booked an appointment, waited two weeks and when I showed up there was no appointment in their system. Horrible customer service all staff member acted like I was there to bother them. Their organization is probably he worst I’ve seen. Avoid at all cost to come here!!

HORRIBLE! My husband ordered a pair of eyeglasses and was told that it would take 2 to 3 weeks....fast forward 4 weeks later and he is told that the eyeglasses are no longer being made, but that they were receiving more frames from the same line. He went to the store and there are only womens frames. He has tried to get a refund twice and told that only a manager could approve the refund and that she has not been in the store.Additionally, this store is really overpriced. I suggest going in to the store to physically try on the frames, buy them on Amazon and then go to Costco to get the lenses made.

I’ve been coming here for a couple years now the services is pretty good, friendly staff. Inventory most of the time is available.

First off, I will say that I am a registered nurse so I understand what it is like to work in the medical field. It frustrates me when medical staff are unpleasant and on top of that do not do their job right. I have been to both the National City and Eastlake locations, so I have experienced both services and I want to say National City location has by far much better service compared to this one.I am giving the front desk girls staff ONE star (none if I could), which is sad because I wish I could separately give the Dr. 5 stars. Both times I visited, the girls at the front presented an unfriendly atmosphere and did not offer help to even choose new glasses frames after my new prescription. This is a shame because the National City staff (I remember Marcela, excellent service with her) were always quick to help me choose nice frames as soon as the Dr. wrote a new prescription.Next, I have insurance that covers my glasses prescription. I clarified with the girls at the front that I was within the time frame for insurance coverage (one routine check up every year); they said okay that I should have NO problems and it would be covered.I come back a week later for follow up and they inform me that I have a balance to pay, how my insurance DENIED the claim and that I would have to pay out of pocket. Confused, I told them that is weird because I never had this issue before, especially since I have been to the National City location several times and they were always able to process it correctly there with no problems (I never had to pay a deductible for routine eye check which is covered under my insurance!). I simply paid out of pocket, got my prescription, and left.I call my insurance to verify why the claim was denied, and my insurance tells me that the code service was entered WRONG by Eyeworks, as a point of service code instead of as a routine code, which is why it was denied. Now my insurance had to correct it in their system. Okay, I said, so how do I get my money back because I paid out of pocket already. Insurance tells me to get it back from eyeworks.As of today, I am waiting to get my money back from Otay Ranch Eyeworks... no new eye glass frames from here.. money, time, effort all wasted on this, all because the staff did not do their job right. Only the Dr. was excellent. Beware of the services here from the front staff.

Went in with my contacts clearly wanting a contact fitting and they gave me and charged me for an eyeglass exam. Now I’m left with a prescription I already had and my eyes are still strained and in poor condition. A waste of $75.

You are REQUIRED to get a follow-up appointment before getting a prescription, which they dont tell you until after the exam. You CANT leave with a prescription like you can every other place Ive been such as Costco and Wallmart. This office procedure is completely unexpected and it did not enter my mind to make sure I would actually leave with a prescription before agreeing to pay more than I normally do at Costco and Wallmart.More info if you want it:I told them I want an eye exam for a contact lens fitting and they tell me it is $75 and I say great! Then several minutes later as Im about to get examined they tell me its an undetermined range of another amount more for a contact lens fitting, TBD after the exam. But I had already told them contact lens is what I was wanting to purchase. Now the price ended up being $160. I paid. I asked for my prescription and then they told me oh no, you cant get that until you return for a follow-up appointment. Guys, time is money and this is an extra step that no other optometrist office has required. Also, they said it would be an additional $20 but again, I was only told this after the exam.Being a determined person I responded via email to their call to me reminding me to get a follow-up appointment. I told them Id be in sometime Fri or Sat. for what I hoped was a quick follow-up appointment to actually get my prescription. I didnt hear back from them so I popped in Fri. night and they were willing to take my $20 at the desk and give me the Dailies they had ordered to make up a month supply (I was sent home with only 5), but said I cant get the prescription until the Dr. sees me. I state that I am finding the Dailies work great, and I am willing to pay another $20 to get the prescription but they say I can pay to get the rest of the month supply of Dailies but I cant get the prescription without another exam to confirm the Dailies work. But I had already proven I have 20/20 vision with the Dailies at my exam before I left the first time. It makes no sense.
