Very very pleased. As a watchmaker, my vision is paramount to my success. Dr. Newman is the man! Very inviting atmosphere. Friendly staff. Every detail explained fully. Will be back for certain. Thanks johnson curran. I love looking at my railroad approved pocket watches!!! Can see much better!!! 10 stars!!!

The office was great. I was seen quickly and new contacts are very clear and comfortable. The doctor was very thorough in explaining my eye conditions. I was very pleased with my visit.

The eye exam last year provided glasses that were not correct. They re-did the exam, said the prescription was correct, but adjusted the glasses. They were better, but still not right. I wore my old glasses to see distance. This year, I had my eye exam elsewhere; but, as few optometrists take insurance for glasses, I returned here to get my glasses. I hope they work better than last year. I have had no issues with the staff. I found the desk folks and opticians very professional. The frames I got last year are very comfortable. Unfortunately, they no longer carry them, or any others with a clip on; so, I had to select something different.

Decided to go to the Christiansburg location because they took my Medicaid insurance. Jacked me up for an additional $89.00 Contact fitting fee. Doctor wanted to increase my distance vision over my previously prescribed lenses that worked perfectly. Didnt let me wear a pair of the new prescription home to even try. I ordered lenses myself to save money. Could not see with the new prescription so I went back to get my old prescription prescribed. I was told I hadnt given the new lenses a chance after wearing them for a month. Would not give me my old prescription. I will definitely go back to my old eye doctor which is what I should have done in the first place. I wound up paying more even though I had Medicaid insurance. This place is a scam!

Ive given rides to relatives several times. It looks like each time they get slower. This last appointment time was 1:30 pm. 3 pm and I was still waiting. Ridiculous

Be careful. They will send you to collections without calling or sending you a bill even for the most minimal amount.

Cant say anything bad about this business. I have been going there for at least five years. Helped me wear contacts which I thought I would never be able to do. Dr. Newman is a very professional doctor that is able to make me feel comfortable talking to him about my eyes and the examination. They provided me with extra contacts when I needed them at no charge. Glasses worked great for me also. Staff was great at helping me pick out frames. Never felt rushed at all. Have not compared cost so dont know how to rate that. I have insurance so takes care of most of my costs. Would gladly go back to them.

Radically changed my prescription to something much more expensive. When I had to purchase the lenses online to not bankrupt myself, they treated me like a pariah when I went in for basic questions regarding bifocals. New prescription seems inferior in every way and refused to even double check. Given other comments about inaccurate prescriptions on here, Im going immediately for a second opinion. Do not give them your business.

My wife and I have patients of Dr. Miles Newman since 1993. Dr. Newman and his staff offer great expertise in the health care of our eyes from examination to offering the best is eye care anywhere! They have become a valued part of our extended family and over the years our experience has just grown fonder. The costs of the exams as well as the prices of the frames, contacts etc. is very competitive with other drs. offices in the area. Our family has trusted our eye care needs to Dr. Newman and his staff for many years. One of the many reasons we love going to see our friend and his staff is that they will not try to sell you something that you do not need. We like the honesty and the integrity of Dr. Newman and his wonderful staff!!

Have been going to Dr. Newman for over ten years. He has always taken the very best care of my vision. He is always jovial but at the same time, very professional. His staff goes out of their way to give me the best customer service. Wouldnt think of going anywhere else.

Poor. Made no effort to expedite an order whatsoever. And that was 12 business days. But since they say 10-14 days they probably feel pretty good about their performance. I will never go back.

The doctor whos now the current owner prescribed a dramatically wrong prescription. The office dismissed my complaints that I couldnt use the lenses as just having trouble getting used to them. Years later I went back, and a newer doctor confirmed they were way off, that he wasnt surprised I couldnt wear them, and congratulated me for not using them and returning to my previous lenses. After leaving, I decided to ask for a credit toward new glasses, which I needed ASAP, and used their online contact form. A week later no one had called me. I called the office, who had the regional business manager call me. I remained polite throughout, while she from the beginning was shockingly rude. She said shed spoken to my doctor and the owner, that my doctor denied our conversation, and she implied I was a liar. I simply insisted the doctor call me. He finally did and was pleasant, but startled me a great deal by denying our conversation, apparently under pressure from the owner. He rationalized it with the medically dubious suggestion that my myopia had in fact worsened by 2 diopters, then improved by the same amount, in just a few years -- a very weird thing for a middle-aged person -- despite the fact I couldnt see with their lenses even at the time. Yes, its modern legal training for a business to always deny the possibility of error. But thats poor medicine and disrespectful to patients. (Other than the regional business manager, the local office staff were, however, lovely).

I see all the negative reviews here and I must say - my experience has been ENTIRELY different. I have one of the more difficult insurances to work with (in fact, my previous optometrist stopped working with it!) and was pleasantly surprised to find that Drs Newman, Blackstock and Associates had no problems with it. Its my insurance that takes a while, not the optometrist office. I took my whole family in for their yearly visit. The Staff were courteous and helpful, the Drs quick yet thorough, and pleasant to speak with. I went in again for my contact lens fitting and was told up front that one of the lenses would be a special order and therefore take a while. It did take a while and the staff rescheduled appointment after appointment while waiting for them without batting an eye.All in all, I am please so far with the service I have received at this location

The staff is so rude!! Had to wait an hour and a half to see the doctor and my prescription is completely wrong!! Not to mention they charge a 60 dollar contact fitting fee, which is conivently not covered by insurance!! They dont even tell you about it until after they supposedly have done it. I have been going here since I was little and have never had any problems and the past two years/ two visits have been pure hell. I would not recommend this office to anyone. It wouldnt be as bad if the staff were friendly when you came in the door.

Everyone was kind and patient with my family. Dr. Ridgeway is really good at explaining how I can relieve computer eye straingand blue light from my cell phone and computer. We will be back.

Was referred to Newman Blackstock by several friends. It was an excellent experience, easy to schedule, knowledgable and helpful employees, eye exam was very thorough and findings were clearly explained to me. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Very surprised by all the negative reviews here. I have been a patient for several years and have had nothing but positive experiences. All of the staff have been very professional and friendly. I once had a problem with a pair of frames that were out of warranty. Despite the fact the issue was probably my fault they replaced them free of charge. I can recommend them without hesitation.

Was not initially greeted at counter until 5 minutes later when another worker came to the desk area. Said someone would be with me in a moment. That didnt happen; what did happen was that she walked away. Someone walked up after me and was told to sign the clipboard. I signed the board and waited 35 additional minutes to be seen. After the exam was over I was told my insurance only covers exams every other year. REALLY?? Do you think they could have told me this before? I would have walked out and paid $50. to my specialist. Overall, bad experience. Also, they only have one year warranty on frames; going to a business that has a 2 year warranty. Will NEVER be back again.

Doctors were professional. Optical selection was not what I expected, wait time was off the scale, they forget to call you when your glasses are in.I would return for an eye exam but Ill buy my glasses elsewhere
