I wish I could give this business 1,000 stars!!! Dr. Westcott developed a Vision Therapy Treatment Plan for me that resolved my lifelong struggle with double vision resulting in greatly improved reading efficiency (jumped up 6 levels!) and largely minimized headaches, fatigue, and eyestrain. Vision Therapists Denise and Katherine were incredibly skilled in helping me learn, implement, and practice my weekly home assignments. I am thankful beyond words for the comprehensive expertise that Dr. Westcott provided throughout the whole process and highly recommend Developmental Vision Care!

Every time I go into DVC, the whole office staff greets me with a friendly waive and a heart-warming smile. After the short wait to go see Dr. Westcott, my experience can only be described as remarkable. The care, patience, and wisdom that he shares with his patients is unmatched by any doctor I have ever seen. Dr. Westcott and his staff can only be described as family at this point. 100 percent worth the wait!

I wish Dr Wescott was cloned. We drive 3 hours round trip every Friday for therapy. Long story very short it was by the grace of God our paths crossed through referrals and I don’t want to imagine where my son would be without him. He’s intuitive. Extremely patient. And feel like he really cares about my son getting better. He’s honest even if the answer isn’t something he can help with (referrals to OT or other needs). Thank you to all the friendly staff and caring therapists too! For those with insurance concerns: Insurance can sometimes be an issue but with a little research and some phone calls I was able to figure out how insurance can cover most of it.

I cannot say enough good things about Developmental Vision Care. Dr. Wescott and his staff (We especially loved Ms. Julie and Ms. Annemarie) changed my childs life. All along we knew that our daughter was bright - but there were big issues in reading and writing. A school psychologist had heard Dr. W speak and suggested I looked into vision therapy. Dr. W gave my daughter a very thorough examination and recommended eye therapy. We dont live in Chesapeake - we live in the Outer Banks - but we drove up weekly for a year and a half - completely worth it. My daughter is reading on grade level and doing well in school.Dr W. and Julie taught my daughter to take ownership of her learning and her vision correction. As a teacher, watching this process was fascinating and I hope the practice of eye therapy becomes mainstream, because it truly was a game changer for my daughter - and our family!

As a former elementary school teacher & home school mom, I highly recommend Dr. Westcotts practice for diagnosing and treating vision/reading problems. I heard him speak at HEAV with a passionate desire to help children like my daughter. She read with incredible difficulty at age eight...skipping words and lines, seeing double & having headaches. They successfully diagnosed and treated her for a year in fun ways. The staff is professional and caring. My daughters eyesight is fixed, & she reads beautifully! Our family thanks the Lord for them.

Dr. Westcott and his team at Developmental Vision Care change lives every day. They have changed my life for sure. If you or a loved one has not achieved stereoscopic vision (being able to see the world in true 3D), then you must listen to me and schedule an appointment. Do not let other vision professionals tell you that you or your loved one is doomed to have a cross/wandering eye, or be stuck with viewing the world in only two dimensions. This world is worth seeing in its true excellence, and it will change your life. The biggest mistake I ever made in my life was listening to previous eye consultants when they told me that there was no hope. Thank you for everything you do, DVC :) You are changing my life every day!

Dr. Westcott and his team are incredible people and incredible professionals. They helped me during a difficult time, while I was searching for a diagnosis. He was the first doctor to suggest my vision issues were caused by a brain problem, which ended out being the underlying problem. They are very thorough with testing and re-evaluate the vision therapy plan to ensure it is making a difference in the patients vision. His office was very flexible with my schedule as I attended school out of town. I cant say enough wonderful things about this office!

Amazing optometrist. Dr Wescott was recommended to me by my wife as he is an exceptional developmental optometrist that provides the great service of vision therapy. I was helped as a child by such service, which prevented me from needing surgery.I just had one of the most thorough eye exams and can say that Dr Wescotts attention to detail is incredible. The staff is incredible too. Highly recommend Dr Wescott, especially for kids!

I knew there was something wrong with my sons eyes, and when I was brushed off by his eye care provider, I called a friend whos daughter had significant vision problems treated by Dr. Westcott and staff. From my first hesitant phone call I was met with kindness, information, and expertise. My son had amblyopia as well as very poor acuity and a multitude of other issues. We recently graduated from weekly therapy and I cant describe the difference, not just with his vision, but in the entire child. He can see, he can read, he does jigsaw puzzles, he can walk on curbs, he can ride a bike. Moreover, he has learned that he had a problem but that with hard work and determination he fixed it. He is fearless now.The staff here is the perfect mix of personal and professional. They know us, they care about us, not just as a patient, but our whole family. If you even think that your child or other family member has vision problems, or if they have learning challenges that you cant find another source for, go ahead and make an appointment.I can confidently say that my sons life and future was changed by our time with Developmental Vision Care.

I have been extremely impressed with DVC. Dr. Westcott is the real deal and extremely knowledgable. I know him personally, but I speak as someone who has been impressed with his attention to detail in relationship to general vision care, emergency eye care (Dr Westcott helped expertly when the emergency room didnt know what to do!), and ongoing vision therapy for our son. Regarding our son, Dr. Westcott and his great team helped locate and treat some very specific issues with eye control, eye teaming, and other visual issues. Big shout out to the staff who are professional, caring, and just plain fun people!

For my daughters yearly eye exam, the optometrist told me she needed to go to a specialist. The optometrist said that she had amblyopia and she needed help. Of course, I researched this and there was a lot of scary articles and implications out there for my 6 year old girl. The worst outcome for me would have been eye surgery for her, which no parent would want for their child.I went to Dr. Westcott and he explained that he would be able to help with eye exercises and regular monitoring. His staff was kind, knowledgable and great at their jobs. They gave my daughter exercises to strengthen her eyes and to work on her tracing and depth perception.Dr. Westcott helped my daughter tremendously. She went there with 20/40 in her right eye and 20/35 in her left, corrected with glasses. Now she has 20/30 in both eyes. She also had trouble with tracking objects and even words across the page. Her depth perception also improved (which I didnt even know was a problem). On top of that, he cured her amblyopia and was able to REDUCE her perscription!!! The optometrist that she saw a little more than a year previously was absolutely stunned by her progress. This was all without the fear of surgery that could result from patching her one eye for long periods of time. I recommend Dr. Westcott and his team for anyones eyes, especially your childs. It can be scary when dealing with these issues, but their team can really help.

Totally addressed my kids eye and reading issues. Looks for and finds the root cause of the problem. Just had my first eye exam at 44. Never thought of going anywhere else. 👍
