I was scared to death to have my cataract surgery, but everyone in the office and the surgical center did a great job of calming me down. So overall, I was very happy with Dr Griffey and all the techs. I recommend Griffey Eye Care for all vision needs.

I give Dr. Griffey 5 stars (I have never seen the other docs due to my eye condition). He is incredible. I have nothing negative to say about his staff including the front desk employees. They are all polite and helpful.The reason for a 3 rating is the Optical Department. They are rude and dont give accurate information. They also make you feel like you are bothering them.I have been waiting 18 days for a pair of eye glasses. I called today to check on them - they picked up the phone and put me back to a que that sent me to vmail after ringing 10 times. I called back a half hour later and they did it again. I called and spoke with the receptionist and she went to check for the glasses. 18 days and they arent there or at least thats what the receptionist was told. It is a real shame their Optical Department isnt held to the professional standards that the rest of the employees are.Clean house in the Optical Department. Hire people that want to be there and want to take care of their customers. Its a shame to have such a high quality Drs. Office get a black eye because of a few bad employees.

Best eye care in the area! Everyone was super pleasant and eager to help. Casey was a delight! The Doctors were very patient and addressed all of my concerns. Highly recommend this office!

They take exrra care it seems to me! Ms/Mrs. Tina is the best at finding frames that flatter you very well. 2x and my glasses are amazing

I had been a patient of Griffey Eye Care for a few years. This is a big busy practice that uses techs to conduct the majority of the visual acuity/eye glass prescription exam. The doctor comes in at the end and examines the physical health of your eye itself. I noticed that my last few eye glass prescriptions were not great. When I tried to discuss it with the doctor, I found him rather impatient and dismissive of my concerns, saying with your prescription, you are lucky to see as good as you are. This year, I tried a new eye doctor at a different practice based on recommendations from friends. My new eyeglass prescription shocked me because I am seeing clearer now that I have in years! The new eye doctor completed the visual acuity exam in its entirety and spent alot of time with me trying different lens (i,e: what is clearer, 1 or 2)? I am so glad I did not just accept my slightly blurry vision as the best that I could do. I think that if you have an easy prescription and do not need fine tuning, you would probably be fine at Griffey. But if you have a more complex prescription that requires a doctor, not a tech to get your prescription the best it can be, go elsewhere. I will also add that the ladies that work in the optical shop are AMAZING! And they go out of the their way to help you!!! Honestly, they were the reason I kept going to Griffey despite being dissatisfied with my vision as long as I did.

Poor practice. Go elsewhere to someone who cares.

Griffey Eye Care & Laser Center was absolutely amazing!! The office is set up so nice and cozy and very clean. The staff was friendly and courteous and had me in and out.Their office practices safe distancing and sanitizing procedures, Which was awesome!! The doctor was friendly and very knowledgeable. My visit was overall a great experience.... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I am from Bethesda, MD, recently moved to this area so maybe my standards and expectations are too high. However I spent about 2 and one/half hours which included no more than 4 minutes with Dr. Fox as he rushed through the evaluation of my eyes. This is unacceptable and I will not be returning. If I could give less than one star I would.In response to your response:Thank you for responding. Sure I understand being busy. That’s good for business. But clients should not suffer because you are busy. I don’t mind waiting when you are busy but no one should be short-changed by the doctor because you are busy. If I waited for two more hours and received a true evaluation from the doctor that would have been fine.

I have been a patient of Dr. Griffey for over ten years and right now, I am ready to find another doctor. I called a month ago to schedule my eye exam... there is nothing available until late October.. it was late August..Okay, so I ask to pencil me in for a cancellation and am told that I have to call. So I call today, my response was, sorry we have nothing until late October..I say, but I’m calling to see if there is a cancellation and my response was nope, there are none, thank you and she hangs up!So after 10 years and countless recommendations, I will be looking for another doctor.. you have grown too big, too busy, and not as nice...Adios Doctor...You took care of me and my mom...But no more.

My contact lenses exam was December 19, it is now January 9, and STILL I am waiting for contacts!!!! Horrible experience with this practice. I called today because no one at Griffey bothered to call me to let me know that the contacts are on back order for A FEW MORE WEEKS!!! I now have to start over from square one somewhere else because I need to see. Don’t choose Griffey!! Many great optometrists out there...not this place!

Dr Fox is very friendly, professional and precise with his exams. Great Staff, They make you feel welcome from the very start not to mention checking out, the receptionist always have a smile on her face. I highly recommend this place for your vision care.

Always seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time. Dr. Fox never rushes, always pleasant professional and devotes full attention to the matter at hand and is very thorough. I have been going here for many years and have always had a wonderful experience. Most recently I got lasik eye surgery. The staff treats you like family, they were incredibly warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to. Dr. Griffey took extra time to make sure I understood my options, the procedure itself, and care afterwards. Thanks to them I now see 20/20 and I couldn’t be happier!

Dr. Fox has been our eye doctor for many years. Our entire family loves his attention to detail. We followed him from another Chesapeake Eye place. We definitely recommend their practice.

One more appointment like this and I’m gone. 4:00 appointment. Place is packed like there’s a convention in “outside waiting”. It’s 4:30 and I haven’t been called yet. Oh yes, thank you for reminding me “If you are unable to make this appointment, please call us to reschedule in order to avoid a $25 no show fee. “. When is my appointment a no show? I have places to go. If you can’t keep your appoint at least let me know. I won’t even charge you. 5:00 and I did get through 2 different tests quite briskly. Now waiting to see my doctor. Still barely enough seats for those “inside” waiting. After waiting another 45 minutes I get to see Dr. Fox for a quick look in my eye and a pep talk. I know we’re called patients but today I am impatient with this whole process. Out the door at 5:55 for a 4:00 appointment. You’ve got to do better.

The absolute worst! I had my eye exam for contacts and then they asked for a required lesson fee and refused to give me my prescription if I didnt pay the fee for the lesson! I highly recommend going somewhere else!!

Doctor Griffey is fantastic and always has been, and I like Dr. Fox as well. Most of the staff that help in the back are fine. The optical department however leaves a lot to be desired. There used to be 2 wonderful staff members who were extremely helpful, courteous and knew me as a person not just a customer walking in the door. The new staff get things wrong, they quote the wrong coverage for insurance, and over all make you feel like youre wasting their time or interrupting them. I also dont like where they sit you down to check the fit of your glasses and then take them to another room to adjust instead of doing it while you sit there in front of them. Its very wasteful of time and it takes a lot more adjustments to get it right. The optical department needs a clean sweep with new staff.

Staff in the optometrist area sent me back to patient waiting vice checkout area. I waited 30 minutes before asking staff what was going on, they located my file in scheduling and checkout. That lady in checkout said she had my file but didn’t see me and she wasn’t in the habit of locating patients.The rest of the visit went smoothly

The staff have been above and beyond accommodating. I didnt bring my paper work/ xrays etc... and the team collectively gathered all info with no hiccups at all. And to top it all off, Dr.Paul Griffey is a very knowledgeable and thorough doc. I really respect his down to earth view. Thx again doc!

This is my first time coming here, love the look of the building inside and out. Dr Griffey is a awsome .

I had an allergic reaction to eye drops given to me. I called them and they prescribed me the generic form of the same eye drops despite my explanation that I had an allergic reaction. Really??? Non-caring, lack of communication - never again. Update: I just returned from my new eye doctor - My eye pressure is in the normal range (taking into account the thickness of my cornea) - so the glaucoma meds were prescribed unnecessarily - please shop around - be careful.

I would highly recommend Dr. Griffey and his staff. He has certainly helped me after a botched cataract surgery here in Nags Head, N.C.
