I can’t say enough how wonderful everyone was. From the reception to the optical shop. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind to my 7 year old daughter who was actually the patient. Dr. Gratkowski and her scribe/technician Danielle were amazing! They were so patient with my daughter through the exam. They really listened to her concerns as well as mine. It was well worth the 45 minute drive from Elizabeth City, NC.

My daughters first visit was 6/23/2021. Everyone was professional, courteous and patient. Definitely a place that is perfect for kids. Very thorough for an initial visit and knowledgeable. No wait time. Answered all of my questions and ensured that I was informed about next steps for my daughter. I highly recommend this place for eye care services for small children.

Just moved to VA from PA needed my eyes checked. I am so happy with the entire process from start to finish-and I ordered new glasses after wearing contacts for years. The staff was friendly and made me comfortable. I recommend highly.

The provider does not provide PD measures upon request for customers if they do not pay overpriced frames here. Dr. Shane Swatts ,Optometrist/Owner, was very rude and unprofessional due to following reasons: Berating patients and customers, poor doctor-patient communication and lack of physician trust/respect. Be aware of this provider since you deserve quality service somewhere.

The greeting of the staff made you feel very welcome. We were new patients and that was very important to me. Also my daughter went for eye examination and she expressed the friendliness of the technician in preparation and completion of the procedure.In all I would rate our visit as outstanding!

Everyone was super friendly and helpful! I hadn’t been to the eye doctor in a while and they listened to all of my concerns and questions and I never once felt rushed. I was able to get contacts and glasses and I was never pressured into purchasing anything too expensive. They helped me with finding the best frames for the best price! The office was super clean as well!

Eye exam is extensive and not rushed with any findings explained in a manner that allows patients to make informed decisions about next steps. Eye treatments options are considered as a team effort involving the patient, their very knowledge office, and inclusive of your primary care physician too. Many family members are patients there dating back to their prior office. Nice facility and well maintained.

In spite of a delay due to an emergency with another patient, I can honestly say this was the best eye exam I have ever had. Friendly staff and super thorough exam by Dr. Tenet. Upon entering the building I greeted by my name in which really made really comfortable. The staff was truly friendly I mean everyone that I came in contact with. Do NOT COME HERE. Your valuable time WILL be waisted. After waiting to be seen to pick out my glasses, gone over the prices and paid they failed to mention your glasses will be a three weeks delay. Its been over three weeks and I have yet to receive them. I have broken glasses and have been urgently waiting. How awesome is it that they collect first do all these things try on , measure pupils doing the whole back and forth thing to later FAIL to mention that hey the plus hour you spent here was for you to only wait an aditional 3 weeks plus for your glasses to come in. They unfortunately do not have competent individuals working their to inform patients of such a dramatic delay before anything begins. First and last time.

I took my son who is 12 for his first eye exam, as his distance vision had become a problem over the last few months. Everyone here was awesome with him. Glasses were a tad expensive, but like everything else in life, you get what you pay for.

Dr.Teten was super sweet and was able to answer my questions regarding the health of my eyes with ease which is the main reason why I have to give 3 stars. The Optical Technicians I worked with were good as well. However, some of the front desk staff definitely needs better social skills. Suzanne especially, became very defensive, dismissive, and flustered when I asked questions regarding insurance coverage for my services. I found this to be odd and unsettling as she appears to be a billing coordinator for the practice. Overall, the doctor was sweet but front desk definitely left a bad taste and I’m unsure if I would return.

Appointments are available to fit most schedules. There was not a waiting time on the day of appointment. I was seen a few minutes ahead of scheduleThe property is very clean. This is great in our current covid situation.Everyone on staff is friendly and ready to answer any questions.They have a piece of equipment that takes digital images of the back of your eye. Its not a small view, but one that covers the entire area.The doctor is happy to point out any part of the picture that could be a problem currently or a problem just starting to develop. Luckily, my eyes had a great checkup.

I have been a patient with this group for over six years and just had an appointment this morning. The staff was professional and friendly. They had an efficient system for getting my mother and I in the door and taken care of. We thought it was great that we could “try on” glasses on their website so that we had an idea of what we wanted even before we got there! The doctors were knowledgeable how medications I’m taking for other medical reasons affect my eye care, and explained things clearly. We have a really appreciated the great care and service by the doctors and staff at EVEA.

What an amazing experience?!? The entire process was painless. I scheduled my appointment online and completed the necessary paperwork electronically prior to my appointment. When I arrived, I called them as instructed to let them know. Approximately a minute before my scheduled appointment, I received a call letting me know I could come to the door for my appointment. Jessi welcomed me and completed my initial screening. Once Jessi was done, Dr. Kness came into the room and that’s when the fun began. She’s an awesome doctor and “kept it real” with me in terms of eye care moving forward. On the way out, I saw Suzanne and we had a great laugh based on a silly question I asked:) I hope they all read this and understand how much I enjoyed my visit. I’ll be back!!!!! As a New Yorker, every year I visit this place during Christmas to check my eyes when I visit family in Chesapeake. Friendly staff and professional services, I enjoyed a lot! Very impressed they even has the most advanced equipment, I would love to give their service A++++

My sons have always received their eye exams from this provider. I also pay out of pocket for their glasses and exams. This time We have had to have my sons glasses sent back 3 times. The first time they couldnt approve it because there was a scratch on the lens. they replaced the lens but neglected to tint it, so he had one lens tinted and not the other. Today they said they again could not approve the glasses because the company doing the lens had added a prism to the lens. I will never order glasses from them again and honestly think I should be reimbursed. He has now been waiting on these glasses since 30 July.

I’ve been getting eye care from EVEA for years, even way back when they were at their previous location back in the early 2000’s. They are seriously amazing. Fantastic doctors and incredibly professional staff.

Misdiagnosised my child!!!!! and tried to sell me on VT...!!!!... thankfully I got a second opinion with a ophthalmologist and was told she does not have the diagnosis and does not need VT. They got her prescription completely wrong which could have caused her eyes to cross.Dr. Lall-Trail, my second opinion,, corrected the prescription which was very identical to her 1st pair of prescription glass before EV changed it. She now can see 20/20 thanks to Dr. Lall-Trail.I would not trust this company. Their center offers VT, the optometrist profits off you taking your child to VT. No insurance covers VT. There is no real evidence saying VT does or does not work. I hope this helps other parents. Her being misdiagnosed caused me to loose days of sleep. I just had that mom gut feeling and I am glad I went with it. If you even have an incling something isnt right, believe it. Something is fishy with this office. Not to mention the snobs that work the front deck.

The staff were all extremely friendly and it was quick and easy to schedule appointments. I went in to go from glasses to contacts and they were really accommodating about adjusting the prescription and type of contacts. They were also very helpful in giving information with being new to contacts.

Our daughter will be graduating the Visioneer program next month and it is definitely bittersweet. We have looked forward to our weekly sessions for almost 9 months now. Dr Teten, Miss Anne, and the rest of the amazing staff at EVEA/Visioneer have always greeted us with joyful eyes (and hidden smiles behind their masks). When COVID started, the Visioneer team immediately put together a plan so that our sessions could continue virtually and our daughter wouldn’t lose any progress she had already made. EVEA has their safety protocols in place now, so we’re able to continue with our in person sessions!The Visioneer program itself has been incredible. Before starting the program, our daughter couldn’t read for any length of time before developing a headache. She would also miss words/sentences when reading. Her confidence was down because of the struggles she had in school. She was in fifth grade and still struggled with making her letters/numbers face the right direction. I had no idea that weak eye muscles could have such an impact on the brain, and how it processes information. The exercises and skills that she has learned during her time with Visioneer will benefit her the rest of her life. We will forever be thankful for our Visioneer family!

I had an eye check-up at Eastern Virginia Eye Associates yesterday. I LOVE it there! They are very pleasant and thorough and their equipments are advanced. Im happy with the fees as well. In fact, its cost competitive. Considering the quality of care, its so worth it. I rarely write reviews but I have to share this... Ive already told my relatives and friends about them. They are the best!

This place was recommended to me by a coworker and let me just say it was amazing! They send you the paperwork beforehand so you don’t have to fill any out in office. Also they are very polite and make you feel welcomed! I arrived 20 minutes before my appointment time and was taken back within 5 minutes. The whole exam was done 10 minutes after my initial appointment time. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

Dr. Teten is a horrible doctor and representative of your practice. I came in today and had a note to excuse myself from wearing a mask. And Violating her Hippocratic oath by turning me away from care. I understand it’s your policy to have masks and it also a safety hazard for some to wear them same time. Discretion should be used. I have not had a single problem anywhere I have gone since the pandemic began until I came to your practice. Unless Dr. Swatts can resolve this I think I am finished trusting your establishment with my eye health. I was seeing Dr. Diaz but apparently he left and I wasn’t even informed about this. I suppose he left for a good reason after my encounter at your office today. I am in great need to be seen and I am just appalled at what transgressed today. I would NOT recommend anyone come for care at this practice. Look else where.

I was very impressed with the service at EVEA when I recently had computer glasses made. I live out of state which complicated things a bit, but the optical staff made every step easy for me and went above and beyond to help me. I wound up with a great pair of glasses that are helping reduce my eye strain at work. The office is beautiful and they have a huge selection of frames, as well as a friendly and professional staff.

Professional staff! Dr. Ness is very thorough and knowledgeable. Robin had my glasses fit perfectly. I would highly recommend!

The reception staff was exceptionally great the day of my wife’s appointment. To observe them process a steady stream of entering and departing clients was so refreshing as their enthusiasm was infectious! Front desk staff was very polite. They are unaware of what their protocol is. I had 2 sons being seen at the same time. But protocol supposedly is to have the parent in the room? How? Im one person. I was accused of being mean, office staff had no professionalism or dont realize their walls are paper thin. They want to ask me questions my teenage sons are capable of answering. Im a nurse, last I checked the best source of information is the patient. Then when it came down to getting glasses she didnt even offer what my insurance covered, she basically spent my money for me and then said I would have to wait 2 weeks. Needless to say we didnt get glasses there. I went to an out of network provider, payed way less got the same coverage and was able to have my sons glasses that same day. Save yourself the headache and a few bucks. Do not go there.

I recently had an eye injury that required immediate care. I was a new patient so I did not expect to get in quickly and thought I would be doomed to the ER. Not here, I was able to get in on the same day, Saturday, which absolutely amazed me. The staff is amazing, very accommodating and empathetic. I highly recommend this practice as they ate hands down the best I have seen in Hampton Roads in over 35 years.

Over the years, I have been to a number of optometrists around Hampton Roads searching for a practice where I feel Im getting first-class, comprehensive eye care in a relaxed but professional setting. My experience at EVEA exceeded all of my expectations. The doctors are exceptional. Never had I been to a private optometry practice that trains optometry students and residents. Neither had I been to a practice that took such an extensive medical history, or took my blood pressure and vitals. They have the most current devices, but their personal touch is what really blew me away. The nurses and doctor spent considerable time answering my questions and explaining each procedure and their results. The office is beautiful and the staff is courteous and respectful. These people are pros and get my highest recommendation.

The best in the area and Ive been to many others in the past 20 years. Excellent staff and doctors. I asked for lesser expensive eyeglasses and was cheerfully accomodated. Price was half as much as Wal-Mart and better glasses.

I had terrible experiences with no calls and a contact order delays. However the new office manager Amanda did a great job going above and beyond to make things right. I appreciated her listening to the multiple issues I have had and the professional way she went about settings things right. Was going to leave but will stay a customer and believe things are better with the new office manager.

Ive been seeing Dr. Ramos for well over 10 years now, when she was located at an older building. Ive also had the pleasure of meeting her husband, Dr. Swatts, and a few other doctors. I cannot express how amazing everyone is who works here. The receptionists and opticians are always kind, courteous, and personable. The doctors actually care about your health, and give honest answers to your questions. The facility is sparkling clean, and they offer refreshments and snacks as well.I have visited quite a few doctors in Hampton Roads, and whenever someone asks me for a recommendation, I dont hesitate to send them here. Keep up the great work, everyone.

Took my four year old son here for his first ever eye exam. He can be a handful at times and not always follow directions. I was extremely pleased with the staff and how patient they were with him.

Wonderful experience each and every time that I have been there. First of all, as a busy businessman and father, they are on time. There havent been the 30 min. waits that accompany most doctor visits. Secondly, the staff is courteous and professional and remembers me each time I come in. There is no reason to go anywhere else.

When I went in for my yearly exam I made it very clear that I only had 1 pair of daily wear contacts left. I was given 7 sample pairs and was told to wear them for a few days, someone would call me confirm and finalize my prescription. It is now 8 days (3 telephone calls and 2 voice mails later) I am out of contacts and no one has finalize my prescription. I can not order new contacts as my previous prescription has expired and no one had finalized (given me a copy) the new one. Once I order the new contacts it will day 7-10 days for them to arrive; and I can not get anyone to call me back. Needless to say I am VERY ANGRY!!!! I do not think this is a doctor issue but an administrative issue and horrible follow up!

They might have a nice selection of glasses but their customer service makes me never want to go back. They only ever have one person working the floor; causing a long wait. You could be there for 15 minutes or 2 hours.I went to pick up a pair of glasses I bought the previous week (mind you this was my second attempt) and something was blurry about the lense... the lady claimed I just needed time to adjust to the new frames (even though my prescription had not changed). I took the glasses to Pearl Vision and they said the optical point was wrong and needed to be adjust. It can be fixed... but shouldnt an associate from this place been able to tell me that? Isnt that their job?My first attempt in picking up my glasses was an even worse experience. I called at 6pm on a Thursday to ask if I could pick up my glasses before they closed. They said sure, I just have to get there before 7pm. I call at 6:30 and say Im running late and wont get there till 6:55pm but if they could make sure to stay open till then so I can grab my glasses. They said no but said they can check with optical... and then sent me to voicemail... assuming it was a mistake I tried calling back... twice... each time they didnt pick up. I got there at 6:58pm and the doors were locked.Thank you for the multiple great experiences East Virginia Eye Associates.

I saw Dr. Diaz and he was totally awesome! However I’m 17 and staff didn’t tell me that I could’nt be seen without a parent present. Both of my parents were busy so eventually they allowed my mom to email them saying that I could be seen. Then at the end of the appointment I was taken to the glasses desk even though I have no prescription. I sat there for a while waiting for someone to come over and talk to me. When the woman finally came over she told me that I didn’t need glasses and could do to the check out desk.

They were quick. Professional and patient friendly.

I had an issue and needed to be seen immediately. The office staff worked me in. Dr. Diaz has been very thorough and knowledgeable with my concerns and issues and talks to me like Im one of his own. I leave feeling informed and confident in my treatment and options! The only downside is calling and leaving messages that go unreturned.
