Dr Palmisano has been our family PCP for years. Kind, open to your thoughts, and a great listener! Often times he will share latest research with you. Not your typical MD and our favorite. We have seen 2 /3 other docs there as well in a pinch that were all good. Office efficiency and service has been improved too!

Dr. Palmisano is great. The office staff and nurses? Not so much. Like many other patients, I’ve found myself sitting in the waiting room for over an hour waiting to be seen. When I ask the front desk, they just apologize over and over again without offering any solution. The nurse says it’s not a scheduling issue, but that the doctors just spend a lot of time with each patient. That’s great they are so thorough and I definitely appreciate it. But maybe the scheduling team can get onboard with this and not schedule so many patients in a day.

9/16/2021, I made an early apt to see Dr. Zhang, at 9am. I always make it early, before he gets backed up or busy. they did not even call me back to vitals till 9:40am, needless to say I never saw the Dr. I have to be at work at 10am, and I was late!! 9 this is the 2nd time this has happen with this DR.) We were to go over my blood work. The nurse said he would not call me, I guess they could not collect a co-pay that way?? GRRRRR, and he can not see me till 11/04??? WTH!!! i was docked for time at work...

I was scheduled for an appointment at 9:00 AM. This was to be my first appointment with this particular practice. Unfortunately, at 10:30 AM, I was still waiting to see the doctor. The staff simply said Soon. Patients should not have to wait in excess of 90 minutes to see a doctor when they have a scheduled appointment time. I left and will not be returning to this practice. Its clear from the reviews that this particular medical practice has some very serious issues.

I was not actually able to get an appointment. So I do not want to speak on the doctors just the front desk and scheduling.You will call the listed number and be put on hold forever. You will try to use there online registration and appointment maker and it will not work. There archaic lab portal does not work.Saying that all this happened I would not expect good customer service at this location.

My doctor there is amazing, but they need at least 4 more receptionists! No one should have to wait on hold more than 10 minutes (or even that long). You also cannot make appointments from their website

I love my Dr. his name is Da Zhang he is the ABSOLUTE BEST, he’s professional, he’s personable, he’s extremely kind . And VERY through. Best Dr I’ve ever had.

Update: I want to add to my previous comments as I spoke with Dr Palmisano about the change in the office support at his practice. He explained they are going through an extensive switch from paper files to electronic (a complete change in how they do things). Given this information, I understand they will have growing pains during this switch. Hopefully things will smooth out soon.I have been seeing Dr. Palmisano for over 10 years now and love him(and his nurse Danielle). Unfortunately, his office is the most incompetent group I have ever seen. If you choose this group, be prepared to sit on hold for a minimum of 10 - 20 minutes before speaking with someone when you call, only to be told they will have to call you back and they do not call you back. Be prepared to follow up on everything if you want something done and be prepared to wait 30 mins to 1+ hours for a scheduled appointment (because they are always running’a little’ behind). It never use to be like this, my suggestion to the doctors in this group is to take a good look at who is running the office now and make some changes. I’m about at the end of my rope with this group.

Still trying after 3 days to get through and get a return call for appointment. Online request does not allow a callback number to be entered, so you cant complete process. Have left mutiple messages. Also have to make seperate appointments for visit and labs. Not sure whats going on but perhaps Bayview and Sentara could be more responsive to patients and investigate this, and take action.Guess Ill just have to stop by.....?

One of the worst run doctors offices I have ever dealt with. From not calling back, to taking up to a week to get the doctor to sign orders despite being repeatedly contacted, to having the incorrect fax numbers on printed approval forms (which we had to go into the office and give them the correct fax number), the staff is totally disorganized. Dr Goins is nice and very patient, a little too patient with his incompetent staff. Its costing him patients.

Second phone I have made in two weeks. Each time I have waited on hold for 30 minutes. Lady asked if she could put me on hold, I said sure, and waited 30 minutes and gave up. Then when I tried to call back. Constant busy signal. Not acceptable! Going on 45 minutes.

I see Dr Palmisano and have gotten the best care. He is always right on. He listens to your concerns and doesn’t mind you questioning him about anything. He is kind , gentle and very knowledgeable. I have a lot of friends and people I know see him. I have never had a problem getting appts when I need them. Highly recommend this practice.

My original appointment was canceled and I was rescheduled for the following week. I received the text and email to confirm. 3 days before I received a text that I have the appt. Yet I showed up only to be told that my appointment had been cancelled because the Dr is not in this office that day. I did not receive any notification of any kind.

Worst experience ever. Wanted a primary care doctor to get blood work since it had been forever and to discuss my blood work. The doctor was just really indifferent and just off putting. I waited for 1.5 hours between seeing the doctor and getting my blood drawn--which took about 2 minutes when I was finally called. Again, blood work and get a primary care doctor was the reason for the visit. After this experience, I thought I would try and see if I could get in to see another doctor in the practice thinking surely I just had a bad experience and this time I hoped to another recommended doctor in the practice or one with better feedback online. Nope, they wont let me switch. AND I NEVER GOT MY BLOOD WORK.

I have been a patient of Dr. Palmisano for the last 11 years. He is a very knowledgeable, kind physician whose diagnosis is always spot on. He listens, and advises, and always explains as to why he prescribes a certain medication. His nurses and the office staff are caring. I would highly recommend this clinic.

I have been a patient of Dr. Palmisanos for close to 13 years and have always received the best care from him and his nurse, Danielle. But my last visit just blew me away. I had been dealing with pain and infection from a abscess on a root canal tooth since November 15th. My dentist had continued to just give me Amoxicillin while I waited to get in to see endodontist. My first appointment with endodontist wasnt until January 16th and that was only supposed to be a consultation. I went to Dr. Palmisanos because I was concerned with being on antibiotics for so long. He listened to my story, and immediately called the endodontist office to see if there was a way of getting me in earlier. With his help, I was able to see the endodontist that week and as of today, the treatment has been completed and my problem is solved. This would not have happened without the help of Dr. Palmisano and his caring attitude and concern for his patients. I just cannot thank him or Danielle enough for what they did for me.

Dont choose this practice! I have been a patient at Hanbury FM for over nine years. I have been unhappy with the practice for quite some time (two or three years), but recently I have become extremely dissatisfied. The office staff is unfriendly, rude, and incompetent! My doctor has become progressively less helpful, and he seems to be too stressed or preoccupied to do do his job. He used to personally call me if my lab results indicated that I needed further medical care, but he has not done that in many years. His medical assistant (nurse) calls, and she seldom sounds like she knows what she is talking about!! Also, his nurse has changed every 6-12 months, on average. There is actually a high turnover rate among all the office staff - thats never a good sign!! Needless to say, at this point I am searching for a new doctor and a new practice.

We have been patients of this practice for over 10 yrs. My hubby has Dr Balderson and I have Dr Palmisano. Both Drs are amazing and patient. The office staff dies turn over often, but never have we had records issues because of it. Not a fan of Dr Zhang.

Worst experience ever. Had an initial visit august 2017. My wife needs a scan and after multiple calls they still havent contacted her about an appointment. People dont go to the Dr. Just for the hell of it. Were switching doctors and practices. This place is a waste of time. Plus the Dr. Is only there on Thursdays for some reason. Something simple as a prescription refill is a hassle. Done with this place.

I started seeing Dr. Zhang a few months ago and I will sing his praises to the end of my days. He is a thorough doctor and ensures I am doing my part in maintaining good health. Unlike many of the poor ratings for the staff at HFM, I have had great experiences. Either they have improved their processes, changed their staff, or were having a bad day at the time,--whatever may be the reason, I have had excellent service from all of them. I think they take our comments very seriously and should be given multiple opportunities to meet and exceed expectations. The Medical community is under a lot of pressure. We need to take that into consideration when we judge them so harshly.

Dr. Balderston is amazing and always takes the time to really listen to my concerns, and Dr. Palmisano is fantastic as well. I am always seen promptly, and the staff has accommodated my appointment and call back requests.

Been going to Dr. Balderston for about 12 years. Always have been treated well by the Doctors and the Staff at Hanbury Family Medicine. Ive stopped today to read some of the reviews and am actually a little shocked by the negative reviews. Not the office I know. A lot more to say but will bite my lip except for this...I work retail, I know the people who dont like me, and its got nothing to do with my service as I treat everyone the same. Some folks simply have personal agendas with unrealistic expectations. Enough said... give these folks a try.

We like Dr. Zeng and Dr. Palmisano a lot. Its relatively easy to get an appointment when you need one and both are generally responsive to our concerns. However, they charge a fee for filling out childrens camp forms, etc. which seems excessive. In addition, although we have been going there (family of five) for several years, his office staff still refers to us as Im not even going to try to pronounce that rather than learning to say our name. I find this insulting. It makes us feel unwelcome.

I have been with Dr. Balderston for over 25 years. I have watched this practice grow and have always been treated well. I have been impressed with the other physicians that she and Dr. McK have added to the practice. I have watched other patients in the waiting room and have seen the staff as they have dealt with impatient attitudes as well as smiling faces of patients thankful to be helped. I have yet to see a rude response from anyone on staff. My advice? Check your attitude at the door and be polite to the staff . If there is something youre not happy with, politely tell them so that they can correct the problem. I know wed like to think this office is full of angels, but they are humans just like we are.

I was referred to Dr. Z by Tricare as well as my wife. I cant express enough good things of how we both feel about Dr. Z. Because of some major medical problems that has had many doctors scratching their head, Dr. Z kept at it to find the main causes of my problems. In December of 2012, I experienced bi-lateral clots as well as one in my left leg. This really started the ball rolling and as I was referred to other specialist doctors, Dr. Z stayed up with me. He or his nurse have call me at home as late as 1830 to check on me. Without his help and guidance, I possibly would not be here today. Many thanks to the doctors and staff that have always been friendly and there to assist.

I have went to hanBerry family medicine. To speak with my personal Dr. Rosemeary Balderson. I thought I had pneumonia. Because I had a coulf that I could not get rid of for a month, I was in the Navy and worked with aspestis and lead-based paint and I had smoked for 15 years, My chest was all congested. And I couldnt get rid of this cold that I had. She checked me out within 15 minutes and told me I was having asthma attack. I never really had asthma. And I am 59 years old. My son has asthma and I had a brother that had asthma also. She put me on some medication. And within a week it had gone away. She put me on a steroid inhaler. Which was awesome because i felt real good after a week. I thought I had something that I was gonna die from. she is a awesome Dr. To figure that out so quick. She will be my doctor forever.

I am not the one to write negative reviews and to be honest this is likely my first review ever. Let me first offer the positives about this place: the doctors are patient, competent, knowledgeable, and friendly. Ive also never had to reschedule with them as a result of them having to move or cancel an appointment. The negatives here do seem to overshadow these positives. The unfortunate thing is the doctor is the person I interact with the least. Dr. Zhang is great! The staff is who I interact with the most and its always a different interaction each time. The primary issue with the staff is the lack of communication between one another. Some things always seem to get lost in translation or notes and details are missed and not taken. Ive had my prescriptions messed up, my personal info constantly changed without me notifying them. They somehow manage to keep saying I live at a relatives address thats not even in the same state (VA vs FL) who has never even been to this practice. I sometimes get told incorrect details by the front desk as well. The front desk staff seems to rotate in new people every year and thats normal, but Im just concerned about the knowledge and competency of some of the individuals they let interact with patients. Id continue to stay with Dr. Zhang, but Im a bit done with Hanbury Family Medicine at this point and wish them the best.Update: I decided to stay with this practus and observed an improvement with the staff and the experience so Ive updated my review to 4 stars.

I would still be going here, if it werent for my husbands job taking us out of state. Dr. McKeithan has been my doctor since 2006, she is wonderful to work with. I like a more holistic approach to my medical care, she is great for me to have some latitude with this. I have also seen Dr. Palmisano, along with other family members, he is a wonderful doctor as well! I know some have complained about the staff, but I have rarely experienced unfriendliness from them. Of course, I am always engaging, smiling, polite and friendly toward them too. Many times when someone is having a rough day, a smile and goodwill go a long way. The only doctor I stay clear from is Dr. Zahn, my husband and I both had issues with him, so we refused to see him. My husband said he was condescending. I ended up with him trivializing a skin issue, which he had no idea what it was, so he was going to refer me to a Dermatologist, which could take a few days to a week. I ended up landing in the ER, hours after seeing him (Dr. Zahn), because I developed a low grade fever and the rash across my stomach was advancing quickly. The ER gave me the strongest antibiotic they have, by IV with concerns of a serious skin infection.

Only because of dr palmisano. Dr Zane is a douche and incompetent and rude. Dr palmisano takes care of my whole family and I would never take myself or my daughter any where else. The office staff is BEYOND rude and annoying to deal with . Sorry, its true. Dont let them lose your insurance information. When you come in sick as a dog theyll corner you about it in the room when youre waiting on the Doctor.Dr palmisano is amazing. Everyone else there stinks. Badly.

Worst experience Ive ever had...staff is the worst and treat you like they are doing you a favor. I was denied my prescription of Insulin because they were too lazy to check with the doctor. Dont take my word for it go and see for yourself. Now I know why they dont have the best physicians.
