I think this is one of the best places I have ever been to.If its your first time in Boulder, I highly recommend going here.If you want to try a place to cut/color/change you hair, definitely come here.If you got a bad haircut, they will fix it!If you want to experiment or dont know exactly what you want, this is the place.If you were here once and did not like it, I swear you should give it another go!I have come here many times, and I have NEVER had a bad cut.

Ive been a regular here for about five years. Ive probably had everyone in the shop cut my hair at some point and have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly, and experienced. no rookies on this team! Cool chairs and old photos on the wall, they are in their second generation of family ownership, and have been in Boulder since the fifties! Id much rather support a local business than give my money to a corporate franchise. If you need a good cut at a reasonable price, this is the place to be.

Ashlee has been my go to hair dresser since I moved to Boulder 4 years ago. She does an amazing job every single time I come in. I don’t trust anyone else with my bangs! She always shows genuine care for my hair and what I want. If you are needing a hair dresser with an amazing personality AND amazing skill, Ashlee is your girl.

I love my new haircut!! I came in knowing I wanted a change, but not certain what to do. My stylist was very nice. She made suggestions, actually cut the length again with no complaints when I decided I was brave enough to go shorter, and even suggested I go for bangs when I told her I had been contemplating them. A nice blow dry to finish it off and I left with the cutest mid-length blunt cut and longer bangs that I just love. Ive had so many compliments and my hair is so healthy now. I feel and look good!

I attended CU nearly twenty years ago, back in town for the first time in years and needed a haircut. While doing a few searches I was shocked at the prices some of the shops in town were charging for a haircut, $40.00 and more, come on! Thankfully I remembered my college favorite, Silver & Gold. Its nice to see them still on the Hill, and under the second generation of family ownership. I walked in with no appointment, they had four people cutting, so the wait was minimal. I sat down with an obviously experienced barber, whose name escapes me, we had a great conversation but besides that, my cut was just what I asked for. I got a neck shave, relaxing hot towel on my head and a great cut, all for $25.00 plus the tip. I really dont know why anyone would go elsewhere and pay a small fortune when this place is on point, not pretentious and so reasonable.

Great place! I was in town on business and was referred here. The owner cut my hair, and paid meticulous attention to detail. Great conversation, good atmosphere, neck shave, hot towel finish and a shoulder massage. All for a reasonable price.

I have never gotten a better haircut then at Silver & Gold. Ashley is amazing and spends so much time on my hair to ensure that it’s perfect, and Ruby did a fantastic job on my eyebrows! The best thing about this place is how kind the workers are, you can tell they enjoy their jobs. I definitely recommend this place!

Ashlee saved my hair. I have had so many bad hair experiences it drove me to never getting my hair done but Ashlee changed that. I refuse to see anyone else for my hair needs. Every time I go in I love how I look when I leave. I’ve done cuts, coloring, styling, eyelash/brow tints and Brazilian blowouts. I would highly recommend.

Very pleased with my service and haircut today. Friendly folks, good music, good conversation and great vintage barber chairs, really comfortable! Four stars because they dont take appointments for cuts, but maybe thats why they are able to move people in and out so efficiently. No empty chairs waiting fir that late appointment to show up. Either way Im a satisfied customer and I will be back!

I cant say enough great things about this place. My stylists was experienced she told me she had been cutting hair for over ten years! She took her time but didnt keep me in the chair for an hour. Prices are great especially when you consider they include the neck shave and a hot towel treatment, even a shampoo but you have to specifically ask for that. The music they play is a random mix of just about everything it was all over the place but fun. I liked my haircut. I felt a little weird showing an old picture but my stylist was nice and said it would probably help explain what I wanted. Anyway, she looked at the the picture, started to cut my hair and checked out the picture again. I felt like it really mattered to her that she gave me just what I was asking for and she definitely did. This is a really good shop.

I absolutely love Silver & Gold. Ive been in several times now after not being able to find a place in Lyons where I live that I really like. The ladies at Silver & Gold, (Ive seen several different stylists) have always taken such good care of me and my hair. I have gone from long and brunette, to a short sassy blonde with several looks in between. Ive been given great suggestions as to style and color and I always get tons of compliments after my visits. My sister, cousin and niece started coming in after I referred them, and I honestly cant say how many of my girlfriends have joined the ranks as well. Very talented and nice people here. Try them out, you wont be disappointed, and the prices, especially for the color services are more than fair. I highly recommend Silver & Gold!

I have very long hair and went in for just a little trim, I never know what to do with my hair, so its been the same for years. After consulting with my stylist I decided it was time for a change. I left with my long hair still in tact, but with long layers and my hair softly framing my face. I am so thankful my stylist made the suggestion! We went through photos and her expertise was evident as she told me what styles would or would not work well with my hair type. Very good service, and only $23.00 with my CU discount!

I am here on business from the U.K. for six months. In my haste, I did not get a haircut before I left home. Wanting to meet potential clients looking my best, I did a Google search and happened upon this lovely shop. It has a cozy, warm set up. Large antique barber chairs that are spacious and comfortable. The staff was polite and welcoming. My haircut was what I had hoped for, a natural looking trim, slightly tapered on the sides and back. I appreciate that my barber adheared to my wishes and did not give me a freshly cut look, rather a nice clean up and not too short. I have found my barbershop for my remaining time in the States and am happy to recommend Silver & Gold.

Ive been going to Silver & Gold for about five years now. What I like is that I dont have to worry about scheduling an appointment, its all walk in. I also never have to wonder who is working when because it has been my experience that everyone there does a great job. I can honestly say that in all my years of coming here I have never received a bad cut. The stylists are friendly, they play a real mix of music which is fun, and there is some very cool vintage barber memorabilia on the walls, including some old black and white photos from when the shop first opened in the late fifties. If you are looking for a great haircut for a fair price, all I can say is give this shop a shot, you wont be disappointed.

I brought my two girls in today to get some bright colored streaks in their hair. While waiting my son got his high fade and I got a slight trim. Its great and convenient to have such a variety of talented barbers and hair stylists under one roof. We are all very pleased.

I just got a Brazilian Blowout done by Anthony and am beyond pleased with the results! I have curly, unruly and impossible hair and Anthony was able to get me a straight, soft and silky result ❤️ I love the vintage atmosphere and the great location. Had a great girls day with my sister and would recommend Silver & Gold to anyone. I live 3.5 hours away and plan to schedule at S&G for my cuts, color and blow out needs! I have been going to Silver & Gold since I was 7 years old (I am now 45) and now my daughter goes there too. I have always received fast, excellent service and a good haircut for a fair price. When I was a kid, I used to get my hair cut from Fred the Barber but now I get it cut from his daughter, Laurie. She is funny, sweet, and very skilled as a stylist but when she is not there, I have used many of the other stylists and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend them.

Leslie Cook has been cutting my hair for about a year now. She does a fantastic job and it looks great every time! I like a clean look so she touches me up (ears and neck) at about the 2 week mark for free. Also, shes into barbering so can do a great fade and can use a straight razor. Nice place to get a cut. I liked my haircut and the atmosphere. Great customer service and the eucalyptus hot towel was a good touch after a long day. Ill definitely be back. I do wish they had some sort of call ahead system. When I called I was told to come in anytime, she said there wasnt much of a wait then but that it could change at any time. It sure did, by the time I got there a half hour later the place was packed and the wait maybe twenty five minutes even though they had several cutters. Probably coming after work was not my wisest choice. Good music and my book helped to pass the time. Anyway I think next time Ill try to sneak in over the lunch hour. Popular place!

Pretty disappointed with my cut. I used to go to the S&G Classic and those cuts were always good (Joe kills it and still works here). Once that place closed, I tried this one and was pretty unimpressed. I asked for a simple trim, basically the classic guy cut. The stylist seemed to cut with no strategy or plan, my sides are different lengths, the top wasnt cut with the intention of styling it at all. She seemed to be aimlessly cutting my hair. Asked me at the end of my haircut if I part my hair - you should have noticed it was parted when I walked in and cut the entire time knowing thats how I would be styling it.Is it an atrocious haircut? No. It was just done carelessly and could have easily been much better.

I stopped in after my regular place was closed. I made it in half an hour before they were closing and there were five people ahead of me. I thought I would be turned away but no, I was greeted warmly, told the wait would be a little while and offered a Starbucks gift card if I wanted to grab something next door while I waited. Wow! (I was told there are generally more people cutting in the evening but they were on vacation). I was impressed with the efficiency and the friendly manner in which the stylists handled the rush, especially at the end of the day. I wear my hair fairly long, top of the earlobe with medium length layers. My stylist handled it like a pro. She understood immediately what I was asking for , didnt cut it too short, (which is always a fear when trying out a new place.) She even did this little snipping trick on my front cowlick to help the hair go in the right direction. Impressive. I highly recommend Silver & Gold.

Im glad I found them in A google search. My hair is dark and I like a short fade, usually it ends up a little blotchy, but Alec had it down! Nice smooth fade. I am so happy I found Silver and Gold!!! After a horrible ten minute haircut elsewhere I needed to find a place quickly because I had an important engagement the next day. After a Google search and seeing all the great reviews I decided to give this barber/salon a shot. They really are more of a barbershop in terms of aesthetics, cozy, clean , no appointments, and these really cool vintage barber chairs. Anyway, I got a great cut for a good price, $25.00 with my CU discount. More than the franchise places, but a lot less than most of the hair salons in town. Needless to say I am one satisfied customer and I will most definitely be back for a return visit.

So I sat there, waiting for an hour. Only 1 person being cut and only me waiting (5:45). One lady can only take cash and that was it. So after the man was cut in front of me I see the haircutter immediately sit down on his phone and ignore me. I gave myself 1 hour before I would walk out. Never talked to.... Walked out.

I had been going to Great Clips, but Silver & Gold is so much better!! It costs a little bit more but it is worth it. The stylists are older so they have experience and mine really took her time with my haircut. She didnt cut it straight across like they usually do, kind if twisted it in her fingers and cut into it, anyway my layers have never looked better, not choppy at all. Four stars because I really wish they took appointments for cuts and not just color. There was a wait. On the bright side, they did give me a Starbucks gift card for waiting so I was able to grab a chai next door!

First review I have ever wrote, but I needed to voice my experience at this place. I dont know how this place has so many great reviews. Horrible cut, ended up with several people commenting, negatively, on my bowl cut. During the cut, I was not asked for comments nor was I ever faced to the mirror to be able to see what the barber was doing. This barber is more of a butcher. Go elsewhere. There are plenty of better options.

I came here for to get a mauve pink balayage and worked with Kelsey, aside from being extremely professional she was also super fun to work with.My hair was mostly black/dark brown and even after multiple bleachings Kelsey made sure that my hair stayed smooth and healthy. I can’t recommend this store enough, if you need any sort of coloring or styling this would be the most affordable option in Boulder and you’d get a beautiful result. I am super happy with my visit and will definitely be coming back!

Getting my haircut from Silver & Gold Barbers was pretty nice. The stylist I got actually took the time to cut my hair compared to other places I have been to. Although she did not say her name, she had glasses and purple hair. Another stylist I would also recommend, he did not say his name either, is the guy with a beard and a colored mohawk.I would highly recommend talking to your stylist, through out your hair cut, in order to achieve the look you want. With personal experience from previous hair cuts, miscommunication equals a bad hair cut.

Its hard to find a new place to get a haircut when you are new in town. I tried Silver & Gold on the advice of a friend. It was the right choice. The shop has been in Boulder for years, the history is on the wall. It is also family owned which I like to support. I wear a short fade and its longer in top. My barber knew just what to do. A great cut, neck shave at the end. She even showed me the right product for my hair and how to use it. Fun professional atmosphere, good music. Ill be back.

Amazing experience!! Sarah cut and colored my hair and I couldnt be happier. She took her time with my consultation and we decided on a medium blonde highlite. I have had it done with foils in the past, but Sarah suggested a different technique, she painted the color onto my hair, no foils, just strips of color where it would compliment my natural color. I love it. It looks very natural and when it grows out I wont have a striped line. My cut is just want I wanted, nice long layers with just enough texture and she styled it beautifully. I wish I could have her do it for me every morning. Besides that Sarah is sweet and funny. Great prices too!!

Love this place! They do great womens cut and saved a butchered pixie cut for me! Ashley is amazing and has done seceralfrwat bleaches and cuts for me, and its the only place Ill go to get my pixie cut trimmed!

First review I have ever written. One of the worst hair cuts I have ever gotten. I walked in and asked the hair stylist if she did walk ins. She responded sharply with do you have cash? I told her I wanted a trim up nothing much. She responded by saying in a condescending tone you wont make me recut this if I dont use a buzzer right...? The hair stylist left me with a lopsided haircut. I will never return here again.

Went in earlier this week to try a new barber. Sat without anyone talking to me for 15 minutes. Finally got in the chair, explained what I wanted and started getting my haircut. The ENTIRE haircut (including asking the stylist to go back and cut-in my part which I had asked for in the beginning) took 12 minutes. Conveniently out of hot towels, had to go home and align my sideburns myself (since they clearly didn’t want me in the store too long). Stylist was so hurried that when she removed the hair “bib” she flung cut hair all over me. Cut-in part only went 2/3 way back to where the part is and is extra wide. Wouldn’t go back for a free haircut.

My hair was cut by an African American. I told him to cut a little short and he did. However, when I watched myself in the mirrow, I had to say that was the worst hair cut I had never got. Each part of hair was separated and there wasnt any connection between them. He just cut my hair depend on his feeling. Finally, I asked him to give me a crew cut and I will leave, but he didnt like to cut anymore. I was rage about his attitude and my hair cut. A child could even give a better hair cut than he did. Then, I paid $20 and left. On the street, I had to always kept my helmet to cover ugly hair cut and looked for another hair salon to fix my hair.

Awesome haircut, great service, and a friendly atmophere. Also it was only 16 dollars with a neck shave and quick massage. I will be going back soon.

I walked in and asked if this was silver and gold Barber shop.A lady I believe her name was Patty said yes so I sat down. Midway into my hair cut said they also have another location just around the corner but that it is just a barber shop. Information that would have been nice when I first asked, but thats not why I gave them one star. I gave them one star because my haircut​ was of less quality then a greatclips! My stylist had little attention to detail. My neck was not rounded evenly, the hair above my ears were barely touched and when asked just to thin out my sideburns she didnt even manage to get that. All and all she had me out of her she really quick and not in a good way!

First time in this shop today. Busy place and I can see why. Really nice people , great music mix, and a really good haircut. You wont be disappointed.

Ruby is incredible at eyebrow threading- she’s very friendly and great at what she does! Always a struggle for us dark-haired ladies to find someone who not only cleans them up but beautifully shapes them and she wins my vote :)

Awesome barber shop. Ive been going for a few years now, and its the best hair cuts Ive come across. Friendly staff, and I recently learned this shop has been serving Boulder since the late 50s!

Great service & environment. Been getting my fades done by Ashlee she’s and artist highly recommend.

Came here for a while and had great service. But today they found a way to wreck my head up. Little just asked for a trim on the side and ended up with something that looks like a Mohawk. The only way to fix it is to shaving it all down now and waiting for it to grow back.

First time visitor today and had an amazing haircut from Ricky. I was visiting from out of town, and this was both a better experience and better cut than my regular barber.

Ive gone here at least a half dozen times and surprised I havent reviewed them yet. Every time I go there I get a great balance of a hangout environment and superb work.

Dont go! I went to make some highlights and the result was horrible. When I got home I saw that the color change was very badly done. I had to buy dye and dye in my house. It was a waste of time and money.

The lady was very nice, gave me an awesome haircut, and even hooked it up with some free styling paste. Will definitely go again

One of the male employees is not very careful. He just cuts you hair very aggressively and quickly and slaps the scissors around hitting the back of your head. When I asked him to clean up the sides, instead of resolving the problem, he talked back to me telling me I was wearing my hair the wrong way, and that was why it was messed up. He then finally cleaned it up slightly after I told him a few times what I wanted. Careless work. Not coming back.

This haircut was very average. No steam towel or message as in years past. It is ok to stop offering this service, just do not advertise that you do. It seems that all your staff that have been there for years have left.

I made an appointment for a hair coloring. Showed up 15 minutes before the appointment to find out that the woman coloring my hair (Ashlee) had texted her co-worker that morning that she wasn’t coming in. She didn’t bother to call me to let me know that my appointment would need to be rescheduled even though she had my phone number along with my appointment information. Instead, I planned my entire day around an appointment for that afternoon that didn’t end up happening. Was very disappointed that I drove all the way there just to be told “she told me to tell you to reschedule”. Very unprofessional!!

Got the fresh treament and walked out looking fresh. Full service shave, shampoo, eyebrows and haircut. I was charged less than at floyds but he did a much better job.

Not a fan. Went there with a beard wanting a short haircut and leave my beard intact as to grow it (maybe shape it a little bit). I left with the guy telling me theres nothing to do about a particularly bad part of the haircut HE JUST DID, literally told me when it grows, itll look better, but I dont understand you have to wear it, DUDE, I went there with long hair! You couldve cut it to the point you needed it! Also, while giving me the haircut, he ruined my beard so I had to go home and do a buzz cut and shave my beard. Really bad experience. $32 wasted.

Went in to get a mohawk. The women working at the time wanted to go and in the process did a horrible job completely messing up my hair (didnt look like a mohawk at all). So I asked her to just shave my hair head off. The shop didnt charge me but didnt seem to apologetic either. Im pretty disappointed. Im not going back and I dont recommend it.

Very bad cut. Didnt like that they just cut, and not properly give you an haircut, just shorten your hair. And is expensive too.
