Kayla was incredibly friendly and personable. The five hours went be incredibly quick with her. She also did a phenomenal job with coloring my hair. It turned out extremely blonde and very cool. She’s amazing at what she does. I would highly recommend to any close friend.

I go to Kim, my daughter goes to Kayla, and my 4 grandsons (ages 2-8) have had haircuts by both. Kim and Kayla are amazing at their jobs as well as being amazing people! They are fun, efficient, and talented. They are great with the boys as well, and will make it as easy as possible. My daughter has Chiari malformation (her neck is sensitive and over-manipulating or too much pressure can trigger numerous symptoms including migraines. Kayla makes sure to limit her time in the sink, and always makes sure shes comfortable and steady. She can finally enjoy having her hair done again! We love the ladies at Appalachian Hair!

13 years without a professional hair cut & Kim made me feel calm & confident in my cut. Got lucky with an opening for a same day appointment & I came in 15 mins late, but she still got it done in time (the only day I had before my interview). She gave me tips about how to keep my hair healthy (it was dry) . Very personable while cutting & cheap! No regrets on this one & Im very picky.

Kayla is the BEST. I’m a student at App state and while I was on spring break, I went to a hairdresser at home that I don’t usually go to to lighten my naturally blonde hair a little bit before formal. I showed the girl pictures and she ended up completely bleaching my whole head which looked nothing like the pictures. Devastated, I frantically looked on the internet for someone to do something to my hair in the High Country. I found Appalachian Hair Salon and saw good reviews about Kayla and her color corrections. I requested an appointment via yelp (just call the salon. They said yelp notifications don’t always go through quickly) but she called me about an hour later (on a Sunday). Thank goodness for her. She talked me through was she was going to do, was diligent and it was clear that she knew what she was doing. Six and a half hours and 108 foils later, my hair looks natural blonde again! Kayla was very inexpensive, especially for the time she put in, friendly, and obviously enjoys her job. The salon has a fun atmosphere and I am very grateful to have found this Boone gem!

Went to a salon off 105 and got hair cut and the woman that cut my hair knew i had naturally curly hair and she had naturally curly hair as well so i was at ease cuz she told me she knew what to do and what not to do to curly hair....Well long story short she used a razor on my hair and anyone who has curly hair or does hair for a profession should know that you dont use a razor on curly hair...Well my dad and stepmom have been going to Kathy for 20yrs so I called Kathy up and got a appointment and I am very pleased to say she fixed the mess of a hair cut that the first woman had done. I am so very happy to have Kathy do my hair and hopefully will continue to do my hair as long as she will. Kathy is amazing and i appreciate her for taking the time to fix my hair and tell me how to fix the ends of my hair where they were ruined.So thank you to. Kathy for ev everything

I’ve gone to Kayla and Kathy but everyone there are outstanding hair professionals. I went to Kathy today and she highlighted and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I’ve been asked by another hairdresser who cut my hair because she said the person did an awesome job. They have excellent prices, great location and the experience. Moved here full time and I know my salon of choice after trying several.

My wife & I both get our hair cut at Appalachian. Theyve just transitioned to online appointments, which I found very easy to use. And it also sends automated appt.reminders, including links w/ directions/maps, if you include your email address.

Kayla did a great job on my hair, I got a touch up on highlights and a trim. I’m very picky with who does my hair but I was very satisfied with the results! She did a great job trimming my layers just the way I wanted and giving me natural looking highlights! The ladies who work in the salon were very nice and services are not overpriced unlike most places in Boone.

Went for a cut and style with Marcie. She is fantastic. My hair is wavy and can be tricky to cut but she took her time to do it right. I couldnt be more pleased. First time at this salon and definitely going back. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and most of all, competent!

One of my favorite small & local business of Boone! Kayla is my hairdresser and she’s killed it both times. I used to have long INCREDIBLY curly hair which discouraged me to ever get my hair cut. Not only did she do a fantastic job cutting AND layering (yes, she layered my curly hair and it had never looked better), she educates me on what she’s doing and how to take care of my hair while she’s doing it. GREAT prices, and even greater talent! 10/10 recommend

I love my hair again! I went to Kathy with a really bad color job (by someone else) - brassy tones that were the wrong tone for my skin, with poorly done highlights and several inches of roots. Kathy perfectly matched my original color and applied natural-looking highlights. Its like the bad color job never happened. I love the cut too. I can just wash and go if I want! If I lived in Boone, Id go to her all the time.

I love this salon and go to see Kayla when I am there. She does a marvelous job and cares about me as a client, its not just about the money for her. I can tell that she really wants to help me with my hair and I always leave happy! She highlights my hair, and doing highlights can be tough to do well on a blonde. Ive been to other salons where I come out either totally blonde or not enough blonde. Kayla highlights my hair just right to where it looks natural and beautiful. She is the only one I will let highlight and cut my hair in Boone. She never cuts off too much hair when I get a trim and listens to what I say I want in terms of length.
