This is the place to go to when you need to stock up on all the herbs and essential oils you need. The staff is very helpful, very friendly, and knowledgeable.

Its a nice little space, beautifully organized and with lots to offer. All their herbs are organic or wildcrafted so you dont have to worry about chemicals, no matter what you select. They have a wide array of single herbs and teas of the camellia sinensis variety, but also have quite a few house blended teas for various purposes. The staff here are also friendly and helpful, and definitely know their stuff. All in all, its my favorite herb shop by far!

Dear people at Lhasa Karnak,I’ve been one your devoted customer of your herbs and spices for many years. Recently i bought some black tea from you, and the three different teas I bought ( assam, darjeeling , and even the earl gray ) , they all taste and smell the same, and it is the smell of your store as one walks in, which is a melange of all herbs and spices that you keep. I had come a long way and was excited to purchase my herbs. However, the sales associate was extremely rude to the point that I wanted to cry. She told me that if I was going to purchase so little I shouldn’t have bothered coming in. I spent almost $20. The herbs seem fine but I will not be going back if I am going to be treated that way.

Love this place . . . they always have exactly what I need and you can order on line and have it mailed or pick it up in the store with excellent service available either way you choose. Clerks are always cheerful, informative and pleasant.

I think this is a beautiful place. The selection of herbs & products are great. However, you feel a bit rushed since theres a limited number of people allowed in the store. I recommend going in the morning so you can at least read the products or feel like you can ask a question. Also, it doesnt feel good to be assisted by a staff thats trying to get off in 5min.

This is my favorite healthy lifestyle store in the east bay. They have all the teas, cooking spices, and supplements that I need. Since they have have high quality goods and there is rarely a line, I prefer going here over any grocery store/supermarket.

This is where I go for all my herbs. Super organized and convenient to find what Im looking for online and just pick up when its ready.

I began shopping at Llasa Karnak when it first opened on Telegraph Avenue just South of Dwight Way. I have known the founders and current owner of the company for all these years. I trust in the quality of their products and expertise of the staff. They have always given the best service and advice one can always count on.

This is by far the best herb and spice shop on the east bay, possibly the whole bay. Jim and Aaron and their staff are knowledgeable and friendly.The spices and herbs are so fresh and potent you may need to adjust your recipes if you are used to the ancient garbage that the supermarkets sell.The quality is the highest, and there is also a huge array of black, green, and herbal teas. Vitamins, balms, creams, and other personal care items fill the shelves.Local chefs are often spotted here as they know where to buy the best quality to make their dishes pop. Ever wonder why their food tastes better than yours? Lhasa Karnak might be part of the reason why.

The sales associates act like they’re doing you a favor when they answer your questions. They are super rude and extremely unfriendly. The products in the store seem high quality and selectively picked out but I probably wouldn’t go back because of how unfriendly the sales associates were.

I dont have enough words to say THANK YOUIn the past I was shopping from the store and any time there was anything what I need , when I need and as much I need.Now we are moving prithee much far a way I decide order (what I need ) over phone.I just ordered yesterday my herbsEverything was so easy (no bad phone signal or broken voice, or so). Yang lady on the other side of the phone was so nice and ready to help. It took just few minutes to place my order. She told me my order will be shipped same day and I was expecting package some day of the next week. (I chose regular shipping)My package arrive today in less then 24 hrs and there was no extra charge, just regular shipping fee.That is really pleasant surprise and I am really happy. This herbs is most important for me in this moment and I needed them very much.Thank you Thank you

I have been ordering herbs from this store for over 20 yrs. Even after I moved to Atlanta, I still order. I order an herb to make child birth eaiser. I used it for my 6 children being born. Now my daughters use it when they are 4 months along till they deliver.The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful..

This is a wonderful store and the staff is knowledgeable and very nice. My daughter and i visit often and have always received the freshest herbs available anywhere in the Bay Area. We live in the northbay and nothing comparable exists that we know of. Its well worth the dirve and we are always pleased with our purchases.

I can get herbs & spices here that I cannot find anywhere else. I make my own masala chai,and I always buy the slices for it at the Lhasa Karnak.There are 2 stores. One is on Shattuck Ave. near University Avunue,the other on San Pablo Avenue near Dwight Way. I have bought all my spices and herbs at Lhasa Karnak for as long as I have lived in Berkeley. The staff is knowledgeable,and the spices are fresh. Customers pay for the spices/herbs by the gram weight,perhaps a hold over from the ancient spice trade . The store gets its name from two places on the spice trade route that Marco Polo must have travelled. I was surprised to find that vanilla extract was taxable;I considered it to be a food item. However,bottled vanilla is a packaged item,and is subject to CA tax. The staff has told that the price of vanilla has increased because of a crop failure in Madagascar.So...it seems my masala chai will be more expensive to make,at least for awhile.
