Me and my family are currently staying here. There are rough characters sure. But my car broke and we had no where to go. They took us in and saved me from losing my daughters. Im eternally grateful. This is a place to go. When the samaritan House and the voa hotel show there true colors.

Im still a kid and I was homeless and I was sent to this petty shelter. There were people who did drugs in front of children LIKE ME, no towels, no soap, and the staff were very rude to my parents and me. No one should go here. Plus I was bitten countless times by beg bugs. Please dont come here and ONLY come here if its your only option

Great Shelter yes there is a lottery but only if there are more than 40 people, (including children) trying to stay. If you are there early every night and there are less than 40 people trying to stay you can get in. There are chores you can do to guarantee you a spot for the next night and get yourself storage space. Staff is very kind and helpful and they have great resource lists of almost everything in the area.

This shelter has saved my life and my babys life. I was pregnant when I came here, we had lost our apartment and I was scared out of my mind. They are helping us on our feet and above all gave us a safe stable room to safely have my baby girl with me in. Before Comitis I was hopeless and helpless. If you truly are sick of struggling and dont want to be homeless then they will help you if you put all your effort into getting on your feet again. They have long term programs and transitional housing for poor families with children (or pregnant women) on TANF, for addicts who want to recover and for veterans. They have a shelter that runs on a lottery. They have a part time employment program for eligible guests if youre interested. Most of the staff cares, I wont name the few staff members who dont but their attitude makes it clear. Honestly, truly, thank god for Comitis Crisis Center. I have never been so grateful and thankful in my life.

This is the worse shelter I have ever been to . They are infested with bed bugs to the point where its multiple bedbugs crawling all over the bed and the bed post . We were only there 20 min and my husband got bit on his arm. It was the most disgusting thing I ever saw. They need to take that whole building down and rebuild it thats how bad the bed bugs are. Then when we told the staff they only gave out the bottle of raid like that was going to work This is definitely not a good place to go. .

I dont know about the 24 hour center ,. Cold weather days are up to the staff 17 degrees was not a cold weather day, Im lucky that I brought my own blanket and slept outside, I didnt stay for the lottery, took a cab with the little money I had, I will try to call for , I asked for the phone number they wrote it down with out a name, I had a bed, but wasnt told how to keep it, had to leave by 7:30 a.m., I was accused of smoking in the bathroom, and threatened by a member of the day shelter he would get the blood gang would get me if I called the police if he smashed my face in, but he was going the was free to tell staff that I accidentally flooded the shower, which I cleaned up myself. As a native of Denver I know this place has always been disgusting. We were homeless a yr ago and were trying to find a place to sleep ,this was one of the options and thought maybe they cleaned it up, but just as disgusting as ever! Drug needles on the ground people fighting outside, I said no way I prefered we sleep in our car. Not safe and especially for kids. You wonder how they are even allowed to run a facility like that!?!?! Disgusting

There is a family that has been there steady for at least 2 years. The lottery is a joke. There is nothing random about it. The staff picks who they want based on who kisses up to them. Very corrupt individuals running the place. To top things off, the bed bugs are so bad that I dont know how this place is still in business.

It is charity with a slap in the face, just like in the olden days in the old country, couple of centuries ago. They just need to educate their staff in the need to only do this work as a ministry to their compassionate aspect, and show kindness. This is a season of love for a reason. There is a field of love we can step into recycling once a year in a big Way.....dont miss this moment. The most vulnerable report mean spirited, uncompliant overworked and under motivated at the endlessness of the need. It is astonishing to me, but they need more and better . there is a tendency at all these places to bully occasionally....but usually, just the men....

The Little Shelter That Could. Before you write that check to one of the other major nonprofits, read this.I was in Colorado addressing a family court matter, and had few options to bunk. This mini dorm is very well run. Its management upgraded in July 2018 to embrace resources made accessible by the Trump Administration. If youre a self-entitled addict, determined to use, abuse and move on when held accountable by local police, this facility wont be fun for you.Bums beware. For the sincere of heart only.Families will find refuge here. The only thing this shelter cant save you from is yourself. Whatever led you here will remain until you let professional counseling and possibly a job/housing specialist craft a Plan.SAFE for kids - but - this is meant to be Temporary. The economics required to secure a self sufficient dwelling are Well Known here. ($20 hr FT hours, no other obstacles/addictions), and a housing counseling (Section 8 or simply better Planning) is standing by at the very nearby Aurora Day Shelter (separate entity, but familiar with this place.)Located about 100 yards away sandwiched between two Aurora police stations.Families= anyone not a single.Singles (male or female):Their system of Intake has changed from a single-night lottery to an experimental weekly bunk-to-assess you lottery, (generated by software), a Pilot program designed to Eradicate homelessness in Aurora, not merely cope with it.Zero tolerance for violence here.Come eager to listen to professionals help you form a plan to overcome addition and/or re-acclimate to the Pursuit of Happiness or dont come at all.Con men/women, theres nothing the counselors havent seen.Secure a Po Box here to receive mail.Cleanliness Vs Hilton: a 6. And 10x more patient. People usually evicted, ejected or otherwise barred for filth, bad manners or overall public tantrums are shown tremendous *grace here.*Aurora PD has a place in their heart for Comitis despite years of growing pains. The grassy area surrounding the police academy is purposefully fenced off to prevent (former) Loiterers from camping and deficating on the grass.Other Guests may be suffering from mental illness or under-diagnosed seizures. The building was never intended to be used as an emergency community home and Changes will effect its location soon.Overall I believe managers have done a good job with what they have to work with.If your life/commitments are in Aurora, find resources here. First/Last/Eviction payoff with Proof of Employment and much, much more. Those who donate to the larger charities, plan a visit...or trust me. :)

Great and caring place with a wonderful staff that care and are helpful. There is a nightly lottery system, a family floor, and a veteran floor.

This place is horrible. So many health code violations. I understand you are attempting to help homeless but you are on the evil side of humanitarianism.

Comitis family side might have been a great place to stay a year ago but now their is a new staff and no rules set in place they treat traumatized humanbeings like convicted inmates. There is no help for mental health patients and staff is completely untrained and rude and has no morals or ethics. Such a big change from last year and a disappointment.

This place is THE biggest joie as far as helping anyone. The only people who benefit from their help is druggies and alcoholics. I took a video of a few instances that show exactly that and their site wont let me post it. DO NOT EVER STAY HERE UNLESS ITS A LAST RESORT!!!!!

Referred by Aurora Mental Health idiots. Didnt mdke.the lottery, and TWO of us got turned away. I was very polite, but the woman that turned us away was absolutely rude. Complete btch. 61, disabled, and slept on a cold sidewalk. Screw Aurora Mental Health and screw you and your dirty shelter.

On Dec 1st I called them around 4:15 pm to ask for help if they have a space open for a gentleman whose ride fell through with nowhere to go on a cold night. I called about 3 times but they were busy each time. I left a message with my name, number, and explaination of the mans situation. It has been four days now and no one has had the decency to return my call. Im guessing the other negative reviews are not that far off from the truth.
