Dr. Gropper and his staff are amazing!! I had spinal surgery after months of pain. Less than 8 weeks after surgery I have my life back. I will forever be grateful! Dee, Ann, Shirley you were all amazing!! I cannot say enough about my experience. Dr. Gropper was my fathers neurosurgeon for 20 years and I would recommend him to anyone!!

No stars. The admin assistant for Dr Michele Johnson hung up on me before I could ask all my questions. I thank God for not letting me waste my time in this office. You keep that rude admin assistant and I’ll take my 2 spine surgeries, my money, and my good insurance to a more caring, compassionate office. My advise… go elsewhere. This is after I left a message a week ago for an appointment with no call back. I chose Emory Healthcare. They were very professional answering all my questions and scheduling my second opinion appointment. It’s not hard to be nice to people but as a business I would be alarmed that an admin assistant treated a patient with potential revenue for the business poorly.

Doctor Haid & LauraToday is August 01,2021. You convinced me for the opration on Friday 13 October , 2017. Yes, you also told me its would take two years for a full recuperation . I just wanted you to know that the end is near for me. You and Laura neglected to hear my complaint of my deteriorating condition . You scheduled me for unnecessary MRIs each time telling me that everything looks good. Then it became impossible to schedule an appointment as my condition continued to worsen. But I somehow failed to catch on some of your remarks. You know them. I always referred to you as a great doctor because we had a great past. My platform at this very minute did not come very easy. I am no here to bad mouth you. Just wanted you to know that you failed me. I deeply believe you knew what the future held for my recuperation. You could have better prepared me instead. Just remember me as a great and sincere person.I wrote to you on several occasions but you never acknowledged my letters regarding my concerns that I had regarding my condition.Take care, the ending could have been better.George Soesman

When you think life is nothing but a major pain in the back then its time to see them. They dont rush you. They dont try to rush to surgery. In fact, Dr. Wray had plans to try long before we would ever have to look at surgery. It was nice to learn that there was a real reason for why i hurt so bad. And that he knew what to do.

Love love love Dr Haid! He’s the best! He performed L5-S1 ALIF lumbar fusion on me in April 2016. He gave me my life back! I also have a friend that Dr Haid performed a more complicated surgery on and he loves him too!! Great results! I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Dr Gropper is wonderful.I had to have a shunt put in my brain and was scared to death. He was so calming, explained the procedure totally and it was exactly as he said. I never felt rushed, he answered my every question. I would unconditionally highly recommend Dr. Gropper to anyone in need of a neurosurgeon. His staff was also very kind and knowledge.

Stockbridge office is a headache! Stephanie Barlow, office manager doesn’t return calls and Bernine Peterson ( Dr. Josh Wewell assistant) should not be working in this field both are messing with the doctors money. I have been trying to make appointment for two weeks and every time it’s an argument with Bernine cause she playing mind games and don’t want to schedule the appointment. She will literally argue with you for 15 mins straight and nothing is accomplished. Just thought Dr. Josh Wewell should know that patients are having an extremely hard time getting pass pinky and the brain.

I sent lab results to the office but the physician recommended practiced an hour away. I take care of my husband and needed a physician in the local area. I was referred to another physician in their practice who never connected me. I have sense gone to another more reliable doctors office.

Highly recommend Dr Benglis. He performed a micro discectomy at level L-4/5 that produced good results. Unfortunately I suffered a serious discitus that caused further degradation of the vertebrae. He stayed with me throughout the entire process alway suggesting the most conservative approach. Unfortunately after approximately 1 year, it was evident that I would require a fusion to provide lasting relief. He utilized a posterior, anterior approach that renewed the lost stability and provided the relief that I needed. Even though I required two surgeries in the end, I feel that his desire to be conservative was in my best interest. His level of care, responsiveness to my needs on was excellent. I am grateful that I found Dr Benglis and should the need arise that I need additional Neurosurgery, he will be the Surgeon doing it. I would gladly recommend him to friends or family as well.

I have been to a plethora of private practices and doctors since my back pain started 8 years ago. Atlanta Brain and Spine has hands down been the best experience I have had yet. Dr. Johnson did surgery on my lumbar spine 5 months ago and I already feel 10 years younger. Every person I interacted with at this office was friendly and knowledgeable, and I felt like I was the only patient being cared for. I will be recommending anyone I know with spine issues to this fine establishment.

Unfortunately not a good review from me. I have 2 children with degenerated disks and fractured backs. I went to see Dr. Johnson on a visit for my daughter; waited 1 1/2 hours! Not one staff member offered an explanation or apology UNTIL I searched and sought after clarification...the reason- “there was an emergency”. I am a mother of 3 children and i understand emergencies, what i don’t understand or respect is the lack of efforts to communicate to a patient sitting in the office. The office staff did not have to make a phone call, they did not need to email or text; they merely had to walk down the hall and share information. I was given an apology and i moved on. I took my second child, again, i was sitting in the waiting room. After 40 minutes i asked how much longer. Now remember, they didn’t come to me; i went to them. I asked “how much longer”? Can you imagine my shock when they told me there were 4, yes 4 people still in front of us. Now this office is located in Atlanta, they have the capability of emailing and texting me reminders of my appointment including the time, but she said they did not have the capability or the staff to let me know that they were running 2 hours late. I reminded her i did not need technology, i just needed them to walk over to me and communicate. Today’s excuse, “the x-ray machine was down”. I respect everyones time, and in return i expect the same. I understand things happen that can result in tardiness but people including doctors will treat people with only what people will allow. To many doctors in Atlanta for me to accept their disrespect. Good luck to all patients and I wish you all well. #backpainismiserable

Dr Benglis and his Staff are True Rockstars. I just had an Emergency Lumbar Laminectomy and Ive got feeling back in my Left Leg when I had almost lost all feeling and control from an Epidural Abscess found compressing the nerves in my L4/L5 of my Spine. Im slowly getting back to normal but I Thank GOD that he came in and got me back to where I have no tingling and numbness in my feet and my Left Leg. I now have control of my legs. Im an 18 year Automotive Sales Professional and I have to be mobile. Doc came on a Sunday early morning to check in on me. Surgeons do not come in on a Sunday as told to me by Nurses to see patients. They told me he check on his patients. The extra level of care he took to make sure I was okay compelled me to leave a 5 STAR Review. He has Top Notch nurses and you can easily get in touch with his staff when needed. That is what you supposed to get when you deal with any Doctors office.

After several phone conversations with the staff telling me that I needed a referral from my PCP, an MRI and an X-ray, all of which I provided after several painstaking appointments, today the very rude staff personnel told me that they do not accept Medicare. That should have been the first thing asked. I do not recommend this practice.

My experience with Atlanta Brain and Spine was nothing but very special from my first office visit meeting Dr Benglis, his assistant down to the staff they all was very attentive to all my concerns. After my surgery I was only in the hospital 1 day, my post opt visit was just as my first. Dr Benglis is a brilliant surgeon and his bedside manors are the best Ive seen in a long time. So if you are looking for the best team you are going to the best at Atlanta Brain and Spine

I rate this office 1-Star not because of the neurosurgeons, but because of the unprofessional and incompetent service from the pre-cert/billing department. Four-six weeks ago, the office scheduled surgery for a relative of mine. My relative lives four hours away from Atlanta, which means she has traveled back and forth, numerous times, to complete all pre-op tests, exams, etc. The day before her scheduled surgery, while she is driving en route back to Atlanta—16 hours before her scheduled surgery—she received a phone call from this office, pre-cert/billing department person named Tiffany, who tells my relative that the surgery has been canceled due to insurance issues. It’s not the fact that there was issues with the insurance; the upsetting, unacceptable problem was notifying my relative less than 24 HOURS, not even a full DAY, before the scheduled surgery; utter and complete lack of communication. My relative could have, and should have, been informed weeks ago regarding insurance issues/approval delays. Hotel rooms, airfare, car rentals had been reserved and/or purchased by out-of-town family flying into Atlanta. And would you like to know the office’s/Tiffany’s response when my relative expressed this to her?: “I’m sorry”. Unacceptable. Patients are charged a fee if they cancel scheduled doctor’s appointments or are no-shows less than 24 hours; the same should apply when doctor/the office cancels scheduled appointments/surgery less than 24 hours. Effective, timely communication goes a long way and leaves a positive impression in the business of healthcare. Update: the day after this unfortunate situation, has this office returned any calls to my relative, or extended a courtesy call?.....the answer is no.
