Weve had two great appointments with Dr. Chacko. Most recently, we did an in-office tree nut challenge that went off without a hitch. My child tested highly allergic to tree nuts since age 2, but in the last 18 months that allergy has appeared to wain (via testing). At our first appointment with Dr. Chacko, after our former allergist retired, the testing showed little to not reaction to tree nuts so he suggested a challenge in office. We agreed, and it went off seamlessly. He and his staff were wonderful about explaining everything to both myself and my 8 year old, and making us very comfortable. If we are ever in the need of an allergist again, we wont hesitate to use Dr. Chacko!

Dr Chacko has been managing my daughters dairy allergy for the past year or so and were really happy with our experience. Our little one is 21 months old and was diagnosed with nut allergies last year. My son has a peanut allergy and was previously just told to not eat peanuts or anything made in a facility with peanuts and given an Epipen. I had heard of OIT through other sources, so researched my options in this area. I came across Dr. Chacko and then found a friend of a friend that had had a fantastic experience with him. We have been very very happy with our experience here thus far. The nurse is so communicative and available via text for any and all questions, which has been truly amazing. Especially when going through something that is a little bit scary and intense when first starting. The office staff has been very nice, the office itself is clean and organized, and Dr. Chacko has been friendly and easy to talk with. I would highly recommend this practice, especially if you’re thinking about OIT for your child!

We are seeing Dr Chacko to do OIT for our child. Our child has multiple food allergies so he recommended doing Milk first. We finished with milk a year ago, started Egg, almost at the end of egg treatment. OIT does wonders for quality of life for the patient as well as the family. Most people have hard time believing you can overcome a food allergy by consuming the allergen in small quantities. No medicine involved.Dr Chacko is very responsive to questions and provided good explanation to our questions/concerns. We have never had trouble scheduling appointments or anything else.

We had a great experience with Dr. Chacko and his team for an oral challenge test for peanuts. My daughter was diagnosed with a peanut allergy and we avoided peanuts for over 7 years. In that time we have gone from a peanut allergy and ill-defined tree nut allergy diagnosis to clarity on exactly which nuts (via food challenges) and successful peanut OIT. I have one child who is doing oral desensitization (OIT) for peanuts (already successfully finished dairy) and another who is taking allergy shots for seasonal allergies. We have been seeing Dr Chacko for a year now and are very pleased. It was difficult to find a Dr in Atlanta who would do OIT without giving my child medication, but Dr Chacko has done it successfully for dairy and my high-allergy child is already eating one peanut a day. I have never come across a nurse that goes above and beyond the call of duty like Amanda. I had a reaction to shellfish in high school and have carefully avoided it for 20 years. At intervals I had follow up skin and blood tests, which seemed to confirm a severe allergy, but also told me to avoid things like eggs, rice, and peas (to which I have no reaction).After hearing about Dr. Chacko’s approach from a co-worker, I decided to give it a try. Over the years I have developed a lot of anxiety over avoiding shellfish, but Dr. Chacko and his staff helped me to feel comfortable.After additional testing, I ate a dozen shrimp under supervision at the office. I’m a 47 year old who has anaphylactic allergic reaction to even the slightest trace of exposure to peanuts. My daughter has no known allergies but gave birth to her first child, a boy who’s now 2 and recently had an anaphylactic allergic reaction to peanuts, unfortunately I passed this food allergy to him even though my daughter has not directly been affected by the same.

We’ve been seeing Dr Chacko and Nurse Amanda for the past 6 months. We scheduled and appointment after my then 2.5 year old ate a cookie with walnuts on Christmas Day and instantly blew up like a balloon and had trouble breathing. We rushed her to the emergency room and spent Christmas Day with IVs and tears. It was the worst day of my life. We had no idea that she was allergic to walnuts and pecans— she’s eaten all sorts of nuts before with no issues. Almonds, pistachios, cashews, peanuts— we thought we were in the clear. Our CHOA allergist suggested we see Dr Chacko for OIT (oral immunotherapy). Basically, she eats small amounts of walnuts until she’s desensitized. Our first visit was a little scary, and she had itchy lips from the tiniest bit of walnut shavings mixed in with water. But we’ve been coming for six months now, every two weeks, and she’s eating a giant hunk of walnut with no issues. I almost fell over when I saw it. She’s gone from feeling bad about having a food allergy (kids would ask her— “can you eat this or are you allergic”) to her (and us) feeling empowered that she can conquer her allergy and we don’t have to live in constant fear of her eating something with walnuts. She may never be able to enjoy a slice of pecan pie or a handful of walnuts for a snack, (or she may one day— who knows) but at least we don’t have to worry about anaphylaxis from a tiny amount of nut. Dr Chacko and his team have changed our lives. The whole staff is super sweet and great with kids. Nurse Amanda is a child whisperer. The kids just love her. Can’t say enough good things about our experience. I encourage anyone with a food allergy to stop living in fear and do OIT!! My one negative is that their office is in Alpharetta which is so far away, but honestly i’d drive to another state if it meant keeping this going!!

At the age of 1, we were told that our daughter was allergic to tree nuts and that we should avoid ALL of them. At the age of 5 our daughter mistakenly ate a walnut cookie and she had an anaphylactic reaction and had to be taken to the hospital. Since then our family has lived in a state of fear when eating out or when were visiting friends. After doing some internet research, I came across Dr. Chacko and his success with curing people from their food allergies. We decided it was worth pursuing. After Dr. Chacko did blood work, he suggested that we do food challenges for four tree nuts where the blood work was inconclusive. We completed the almond food challenge a few days ago without any symptoms. This has basically eliminated our fear of her eating candy (most have almonds or peanuts). Today we are doing a food challenge for cashews and pistachios. So far so good! Once we complete the food challenges, we will begin our journey of oral immunotherapy for walnuts and pecans in hope that she can live a life without the fear of food and the need to carry epi pens. Were grateful for Dr. Chacko and his expertise in OIT/food challenges!

My son (4) had a reaction to a snack with hazelnut cream filling about a year ago, and skin and blood work showed several nut allergies but not the same ones. Skin test showed one thing and blood work something different. So we saw a few different allergists to get a grip on how to manage this, as we were new to any kind of allergies.At the advise of a friend, we came to Dr.Chacko this fall. He suggested food challenges to sort out his real reactions to the different nuts. He was confident my boy would pass the hazelnut challenge because the bloodwork showed very low numbers. I was nervous based on the initial reaction that made us realize he was allergic in the first place.The challenge works like this: You bring food items for your kid/yourself (the allergic person) to eat in the office. I have learned to go with what will most likely actually get eaten/drank without refusal. For us this meant lots of sweets.😅 Then the staff slowly increases the amount of allergen you ingest until they either rule the allergy out or confirm it. We generally spend 3-5 hours in the office during a food challenge.My kid ended up reacting to the hazelnut, to the good doctor’s surprise. Apparently he is in the 2% of cases where the blood work didn’t show his true allergy.I’m so glad we have it confirmed now, it gives me peace of mind as a mom.Today we are here challenging him with a high dose of almonds, and he’s passing with flying colors!Grateful to have a good allergist to guide and help us figure out how to best care for our little guy!

We have been seeing Dr. Chacho for over year now. He is an awesome doctor. There is no other practice I would go for me and my daughter. The staff is nice and always so loving to my daughter. My son is a few months into OIT for a severe peanut allergy at the Alpharetta location. So far he has had no reactions, and we are very excited that he will be able to eat peanuts soon!!! The whole staff is extremely competent in doing the OIT and are always available to answer any questions we have. The first few times we came after the initial visit, we had to wait a long time before the dose was administered. We would end up there for about two and half hours instead of one. It was as if they forgot we were there and then forgot to check my son as we had to go in the waiting room after the dose. I would ask what was going on to try to get things moving. The front desk receptionist seemed clueless about everything, never recognized us, and gave us the wrong paperwork to fill out one time instead of the OIT form. However, she is no longer there when we come in. Thankfully, now when we come in things are running WONDERFULLY. So therefore I recommend this place and the OIT.

The entire process was well explained by dr chacko. The appointments were scheduled well in advance.
