The Assisted living /Memory support is a beautiful facility and some of the caregivers are compassionate. If your loved one has dementia/alzheimers this is not the place for them! They do not have the training or the staff to handle this. The memory support unit is still only an assisted living. They dont tell you this when you sign the contract but as the disease progresses they will want to move them to their skilled nursing building which is nothing like the assisted living or the memory support they sell you on in the beginning. (please visit and you will see)Youll want to find a true Memory Care facility that is trained in dementia/alzheimers and will care for til end of life without moving to skilled nursing as they progress. While in assisted living they didn’t provide physical therapy, occupational therapy or much of any support unless you want to move the skilled nursing or want to continue to call and fight for it. The communication between staff is non existent. Nobody knows who is doing what. There were several times when the CNAs didnt know what our Moms needs even were. There is very little communication between the staff and the family. We never met the executive director. The director called her by her wrong name the whole time she was there. We didnt meet the Health services Administrator until 2 years later, when he told us she needed to move.We wanted to be happy with this facility but I believe it is too big and my mom was lost in the chaos with nobody there to advocate for her. When we moved her in it seemed great and clean with plenty of help. When we moved her out there was no staff around at all and it smelled terrible!

We have contacted the Il Department of Public Health and filed a formal complaint for abuse and neglect. I am waiting for follow up but until then decided to provide this personal review. If someone is harmed in your facility, work with the family for resolution not excuses and indifference. Instead of blocking information, consider adopting an appropriate approach for risk management and try a compassionate response. What my family was told from the administrator was he had only been in his job for a month, owning no responsibility nor compassion in regards to my family members adverse event. Over a week later, they remain in the hospital receiving supportive and appropriate care, unlike what this facility provided. No one has made any effort to be honest, apologize nor create a resolution. Being a Registered Nurse myself for almost 35 years in healthcare, I understand that errors can happen but neglect of basic care and lack of the ability to provide safe care is Neglect.I am appalled that this facility has a 5 star rating with no tags.
