I have contacted his office 5+ times to be released as a patient so I can see another doctor. Every time, they are rude on the phone, will not transfer me to the office manager or be helpful. Im always told they will call me back. They never have. They also have not released me as requested. I need another surgery to get relief that I didnt get here. This kind of Treatment is why I dont want to be a patient at all with them. My next option is to have my lawyer send a letter. Unbelievably ridiculous someone has to go this far just to be able to see who they want. I definitely do not in any way recommend Dr. Henkin.

Saw Dr. Henkin recently. I almost did did not keep my appointment after reading reviews regarding the attitudes allegedly displayed by the Dr. and his staff . However , I saw nothing but professional ,caring attitudes . Dr. Henkin was patient , thorough and caring. His staff members were polite and helpful . I did have to wait about 90 minutes past my appointment time. The result was worth the wait .

Dr Henkin made my husband worse!!!His good talk before surgery was sounded comforting.But when my husband went in for post op,..Dr Henkin just blew him off since he still was in pain.I would NOT recommend this slick talking dr to touch anyone, ever.Hes ALL TALK and no follow thruBtwDr Henkin advised my husband while in his office...His words were:No need to come back.🤔

This man is the best of the best!!!After visiting multiple doctors and them telling me I would be 6-12 weeks in the hospital. I felt like I would just live with this pain.I though 1 last check. I Met Dr. Henkin, (who is very difficult to follow, as he speaks in different levels of intelligences). Where he tells me he could preform my surgery and Id walk out of the hospital in 3 hours.. HE LIED, i walked out in 3 hours and 15 minutes. I will take that lie any day of the week.This man knows how good he is and anyone the thinks otherwise is a fool.Thanks Dr. Henkin I live 8 years pain free thanks to you.Daniel

Its hard to understand some of the negative comments. I had a 93 year old mother with a severely fractured back in excoriating pain! I live 500 miles away, but Dr Henkins Office got us in quickly once referred. Did we have wait a little while, sure we did; this Dr is busy and with good cause! The diagnosis was straight forward and surgery took some time, but hey, this was a surgery on a 93 year old with all kind risks at her age. At the End of the Day, the surgery went well, my mother is currently recovering, and most of her pain has subsided. When we had a problem with the Skilled Nursing Facility, his office stepped, in and solved the problem! I have nothing but good things to say! June 2021

Dr Henkin is the best, fixed my 40 year back problems. At SFB hospital, in at 6 am, surgery, out at 1:30 pm with no pain. Havent walked crooked in almost 10 years this December. His bedside manner is straight forward but his work is outstanding. Thank you for helping me. Dan Piergallini

After 3-4 weeks of waiting, my appointment was at 3:15pm, Feb 24th 2021. First, there is no respect of time nor empathy for the patients going through server pain. After waiting for more than 2 and 1/2 hour, I was called in at 5:40pm. It was no more than 5 minutes with the doctor, I was not even given time to explain what I am going through, all he did was flip couple images from my MRI, assuring its nothing to do with cervical or spine issue, saying 110% its shoulder/ortho issue as the reason for acute pain I am enduring and pushed me to go to an ortho. Here I am still dying of pain, the two doctors I met after him clearly confirmed its the issue on C4-C7 cervical bones pushing thats caused more damage to my right arm, which is totally not been able to use. They even stated about how surprised they are with his diagnosis ignoring cervical issue and referring it as a shoulder issue. Went with so much hope but came back with total disappointment, his office is yet to send the update/outcome of my appointment with him to my PCP. Also its almost a month, his office is yet to call me back on the ortho appointment they promised. Will never recommend him to even worst of my enemy. Worst experience ever in my life with a doctors appointment

I went to dr. Henkin few weeks ago for a visit to discuss my neck and shoulder pain. Literally I was in tears. He reviewed my ct scan and report from the hospital....then had fusion surgery yesterday and today I feel no pain so far. He removed unexpected two bone Spurs and fixed herniated disc’s c5 then added metal plate c5 to c7 with screws. I’m sorry that others had bad experience with him. But I really like this doctor and he was throughly explained all the results and the report didn’t say that I have herniated disc’s on c5. He caught that. I’m very pleased with his medical skills to make me feel better. Doctors are so focused on your pain and reviewing reports and all films so they can Figure out what they need to do their job to help you feel better. Everyone has different opinions and complaining and giving doctors a hard time. All day long, they have a high demanding job reviewing their patients reports and making serious decisions on how to help them feel better in any way he can. I definitely recommended him. They have long hours in surgery and sometimes they come across unexpected issues and had to take care of it... it requires longer time in surgery. Have some respect and be appreciative. By the way. I am a deaf patient and he took some time to communicate with me and he done his best. :)). Awesome doctor!!

My husband recently had back surgery with Dr Henkin. We are very pleased with his outcome thus far. Dr Henkin did an amazing job on a complicated fusion.

I have debated in writing a review but this has weighed heavy on my heart the past week. I would have much rather seen Dr Henkins than his assistant after ACDF surgery to go over my x-rays etc. When asked about fusing he said x-rays won’t determine if you are starting to fuse but 96%-98% fused and I don’t have to come back unless I have problems but knowing I’m still having issues but with medication it controls it for the most part. Just wondering about the 2%-4% that doesn’t fuse and what is their risk if they don’t and will they ever know before more damage is done? I would think that a Dr would want to know that his patient is completely fused and especially if they already have other issues that could lessen the healing process. All up until this last visit when I had to see his assistant after waiting over an hour he was 5 stars. Now I’m beginning to believe what I’ve heard and read that he does not care about his patients after he has preformed you’re surgery.Overall he is an exceptional surgeon but the job does not end there.

Wish there was an option for -5 stars .This is by far the rudest, unorganized, office and Dr Ive ever dealt with.Staff has absolutely no consideration for you or anyone and thinks waits times are funny.Will even tell you that an average wait time or 4+ hour s are normal.Dr. Henkin has absolutely no bed side manner and couldnt care absolutely less about your overall care.

My husband went to Dr. Henkin because he was slowly losing his ability to walk. He had been to many doctors that told him it was his feet or legs and he needed shoe inserts...or he needed chiropractic work..none could find the issue until Dr. Henkin. Thankfully he found the benign tumor and removed it completely. In the two weeks following my husbands surgery, I have seen his walking progress and can see the joy and happiness that he feels as he gets more and more movement and feeling back in his lower extremities. I have no doubt that given time, he will regain close, if not all, of his strength back and that is thanks to Dr. Henkin and his team. If not for them, my husband would have been in a wheelchair for the duration of his life. Thankfully we found a great doctor and felt comfortable with him from the moment we met him and put our trust in him as a doctor and he never let us down. I would highly recommend him to anyone that has back problems.

Dr. Henkin did my back surgery on Friday and I just want to Thank him for doing an amazing job. In my opinion he is the best Neurosurgeon in Tampa. He made me feel so comfortable at my first appointment and even more comfortable at my surgery! If I ever need a Neurosurgeon again he will be my first call!

Based on my personal experience with this practice.I was being treated for Spine issues in my lower back By Dr. Tien V Le. My surgery was done at Brandon Regional medical center. He fused my back from S1-L5 and inserted a plate with 4 screws.Began having my back pain returned more severe than before. My right leg just gives out without warning and I fall like a sack of potatoes. Dr. Le was notified and did nothing to find out cause. Scheduled to see him after the 7th time it happened. Refused to see me because he had no authorization from my Medicare HMO.After an MRI was performed by my new surgeon it was found that the biggest problem with my back was that when the surgery was completed NO pathways were created for blood flow to my nerves so my nerves began deteriorating from lack of blood causing so much pain I get to where I cant walk without severe pain or collapse. He has essentially crippled me.Have to have 2and surgery to remove and replace everything that was done by Dr. Le. It will be a 2 day surgery and I have a significant risk to my life due to underlying Health issues. Going to file a Demand compensation through arbitration.Choose your doctor wisely. I even met others who had same situations happen with them. Do your research! This has destroyed my life.

Dr. Henkin is a ROCK STAR!!!! I would give 10 stars if available! I have been having trouble for years with leg weakness and nephropathy in both feet, as well as general fatigue . I have been to MANY doctors and NONE found the issue.... until Henkin. I had a benign tumor at T11 and T12 pinching 95% of my spine! The surgery went perfect and he was able to remove all of the lesion. It has only been two weeks since my surgery but already am walking better and strength is coming back slowly! Dr Henkin is to the point but compassionate, bedside manner was great as well. I owe , literally my walking future to this man! Again sir, you are a ROCK STAR!

In December 2018 and January 2019 Dr Henkin did carpal tunnel surgery on both my hands. It was completely successful and ended years of misery. In February 2019 he did 4 1/2 hour surgery on my neck. It was anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with a steel plate and screws. It involved three levels, and he replaced three discs. It was completely successful without any problems at all. After 20 years of misery, I now have a new lease on life and feel terrific. He was always kind and polite. I think he is an exceptionally talented surgeon and I feel very fortunate to have found him.

Took me in quickly, Dr Henkin showed a lot of compassion and empathy towards me , my pain level was a 10! I have a fractured L3 via cat scan! Had all of my medical records and disc!!THIS doctor received good reviews from other patients i have spoken with!! Beth biafora retired RN

I saw Dr. Le for herniated discs in my neck. He operated on one, and as soon as I awoke from surgery I felt immediate relief. He is very nice, very impressive, and seems very confident and trustworthy. I felt confident with him the entire time from my first appointment to last post-op appointment. Highly recommend him to anyone needing a neurosurgeon. Could not have found a better doctor or had a better experience with surgery.

This place is RIDICULOUS, it’s now my second apt here- the first time I waited 2-3 hours to even get into a waiting room. This time my apt was at 3 pm, Ive been in the waiting room for 2 hours just to be told that Dr. Henkin won’t be able to see me until 5:45 or 6pm. I’m not even sure if he’s a good doctor because at my last apt with him where he so graciously squeezed me in was at 8:30pm and he was half asleep after admittedly having ‘already been up since 5am for a 6am surgery’. My last apt he spoke to me for 10-15 mins before referring me out for a CT scan....How are there no other qualified spine doctors in Brandon?

I left this Doctor and went to a different one. He is horrible!

Had MED surgery performed by Dr. Henkin over 4 years ago on my sciatic issue. Still having NO back trouble years later. Highly recommended.

Dr henken saved my life. I could not walk. I had a disk sitting on my nerve and I had to crawl. He performed a spinal fusion and I woke up with NO PAIN. It’s a long recovery. Wait times can be 2 hours to see him BUT it’s worth it because he knows his stuff. He is very arrogant but I don’t care. He took me from a 10 in pain to a Zero in pain. I am so grateful for finding him. Best dr ever.

Dr Henkin is an extremely decitated doctor. He works an incredible amount of hours. Hes candid and wouldnt operate unless necessary. Besides being a straight shooter, I found him to be compassionate. Yes it takes awhile to get an appointment and the wait time can be long. Anyone who doesnt understand the recipe for a good doctor shouldnt write ignorant reviews. Go to some hack you can get an appointment with the next day and let him tell you what you want to hear.

Well I have read most of the reviews and they range from horrible to excellent. I am an RN and choose my health care providers by expertise and not bedside manner although that is great as well. I have to say this is my 2nd surgery with Dr. Henkin and have had exceptional results with both. In 2015 I had ACDF at 3 levels due to a motor vehicle accident. Just last month I had 2 lumbar spine surgeries of which prior my pain was excruciating w/bilateral sciatica and leg numbness and weakness. I had surgery on a Thursday and by Sunday I was on Advil and Wednesday I was taking nothing. I am 100% pain free and feel like I have been given a new back. I agree the office staff in 2015 were much to be desired but this time everyone was professional, went out of their way with my insurance issues. The day my PCP recommended I see a neurosurgeon as soon as possible Dr. Henkins staff fit me iin that evening. Yes, I had to wait but got in the same day.I truly believe he is an excellent surgeon and I am a testament to excellent results. Everyone has their opinion so I caution people to read information but dont judge until you try yourself. He is worth the wait in my opinion.

Dr. Henkin is an incredible surgeon. He is very professional, uses the very latest technology and has a wonderful helpful and pleasant office staff. I would highly recommend this physician to anyone needing the services of a neurosurgeon.

An update, I played 18 holes of golf after 3 months and 12 days with no irritating pain. After the operation I recovered so well that i was released from the hospital the next day. My Doctor Le and the hospital Physician Dr Patel both agreed that I was physically able to leave. My recovery has been outstanding considering that I was 83 years old at the time of the operation which required removal amd replacement of three lumbar discs. It was performed so well it was easier than the removal of tonsels that I had as a child. Thank you Dr Le!!

I had ACDF with Dr Le on 5/15 I am in extreme amount of pain worse than before. I called dr Henkin was on call. THE RUDEST EVER. told me there is no way that I can be in worse pain that there’s no pill gonna solve this, last night he said take ibuprofen when my dc papers state no NSAIDs for over a month. Today he stated about meds. Little does he know I do not take meds but I do have percocet in my medicine cabinet I take it and it makes me sweat no relief. He said I am lying that any pain med will help in some way? Really, well my boss and dr knows my history dr Henkin does not. There is lots of meds I CAN NOT TAKE also my hospital release stated any extra pain any changes call the on call dr. Well I wouldnt call him to my dog. He stated if I wanted to cry about nothing helping go to the er and see if they will do anything. I pray nothing is wrong with me we’re something has moved wrong or I’ve moved wrong as he hung up on me because I got upset And told him don’t go off on me when I’m needing a medical opinion. I’m not lying about no pain. I go through kidney stones , pancreatitis, and never lay and cry in pain. He told me that this was the peak it takes 4 months to fuse the pain could be worse. Then today that 99.5% people do great with no pain so he’s not sure what I’m experiencing. I was GREAT the first week took NO PAIN MEDS yesterday 5/25 woke in excruciating pain. I go to see dr le on Tuesday I pray it’s nothing like this experience. When you do not know someone how do you go off on them and call them a liar? I wouldn’t take my worst enemy to see him. Horrible rude inconsiderate jerk.

Doctor henkin did a revision of my spinal fusion lumbar area After 7 years the fusion has been broken down near the L5 screw is out . Ever since he did the surgery my back has gotten worse cant walk more than 100 Feet Without sitting down. Saw him 2 years ago about this he said he couldnt do anything.. The worst decision I ever made Do not get a fusion

The wait is 2 hours or more before you get back to see MD. The office staff seems unorganized and talk about patient where lobby can hear. Overheard a staff member tell the receptionist to reschedule a pt cause she didnt feel like dealing with her so receptionist called back and lied to patient stating she would have to reschedule her because the appt wasnt approved. Debra the office manager doesnt follow thru on various things and when I called to follow up, I got attitude and was given an excuse. I have worked in the Medical field for over 30 years so I know when being told misinformation

He is the worst doctor I ever met in my haalife, bad attitude, doesnt listen for what you saying or what you are complaining about

It was amazing how quick he spotted the problem that four other doctors overlooked. Everyone in the office is courteous and professional. The surgery was quick and the recovery time was minimal.

Waited 4 hours for the dr to insult my weight. Not reviewing my medical history. Was very rude unprofessional. He is the only spine dr that had not touch or reviewed the spinal area and ignored all questions that I asked in regards to my issue. If you want to wait and be insulted this is the dr for you. If you want a dr that acknowledges your issue please see an alternative physician.

Dr. Henkin performed cervical spinal cord decompression surgery on me in 4/2018.A friend of mine, who is a Nurse Practitioner, recommended I see Dr. Henkin for an additional consultation. I previously had ACDF surgery in 2016 which did not completely help my symptoms since that surgeon did not decompress the cord.Dr. Henkin corrected that surgery and decompressed my cord from the front and back - which the 1st surgeon never even acknowledged there was cord compression.Dr. Henkin and his staff have always been extremely friendly and professional. He is a very busy surgeon and the staff has called us to let us know when he is running late when weve had an appt.Hes pretty direct and to the point but takes time to answer questions. It takes a couple of months to get an appointment with him - but its worth the wait.I totally recommend Dr. Henkin. 5 stars!

Just had to have a redo laminectomy after only two years since Dr. Henkin performed. MRI showed severe scarring in previous area only to find out at redo laminectomy with new surgeon that Dr. Henkin had accidently cut the dura and that is what formed my scar tissue which closed the nerve root off again. I never saw Dr. Henkin the day after my surgery, Sat. , it was his PA. I asked why I wasnt going home after told the keyhole laminotomy was a one day stay and he only said I had a small CSF leak. I was a three day stay. I recovered fine but no one ever told me they had nicked my dura(sheath around spinal cord area) so after one year syptoms started coming back and got worse hence second surgery two years to the day.....ugh.....

Dr. Henkin is an amazing surgeon!!! Not once, but twice, Dr. Henkin has given me my life back!!! There is no one else as capable as Dr. Henkin, absolutely, no one!!!

After waiting 2 months to get in as a new patient and after 2 phone calls from the office to confirm my appointment, when I arrived I was told by the receptionist that I needed a referral from my BCBS HMO plan. I attempted to call my doctor who was out of the office, so I called BCBS who stated that I did not require a referral to see a specialist as long as they were in network. Debra the office manager refused to talk to BCBS insisted they fax the information and when the BCBS rep advised the information was in the provider manual Debra still refused. I offered to pay for my visit out of pocket as I had waited 2 months and drove almost an hour to get there. Debra wouldnt let me do that either. I have been in the medical field for over 20 years and I have never seen such a lack of patient care, and outright laziness especially by someone who is supposed to be the office manager. I am completely disgusted in the way I was treated. If Debra would have taken 5 minutes to try and rectify the situation this review could have been avoided as well as my formal complaint to BCBS and the BBB. This was a mistake on the offices part by stating my insurance required a referral when they do not. Today when I filed my complaint with BCBS they personally attempted to speak to Debra to advise no referral was needed, but when the receptionist told Debra it was about me, she wouldnt get on the phone had Manal take a message. The BCBS rep asked that Debra call me so I can be rescheduled ASAP and I have yet to hear from her.

I had a different experience with Dr Henkin. I am still having pain in my leg, same numbness , continued muscle spasm. Hurts to sneeze, bend, twist, stand, sit. He dismissed my pain at last appointment. I have another appt with him today to try and make him understand. He tells me he has had people go back to work a week after this surgery. Well its not me. I feel like I am not fitting into his cookie cutter and I am sick of it. Either he truely listens to what I have to say or I will dismiss him today for lack of confidence. Oh p.s. always call ahead, he runs about two hours behind. That is every appt Ive had with him

Dr. Henkin fixed my cauda equine syndrome... rare case and he picked up on it right away, performed a microdiscectomy the same night.

He didnt finish the job.. had to go to a different Dr. for a Discectomy a year later.This guy thinks he is God.. but he isnt even good.

Rude as hell they are a recommended office that takes workers comp but they will tell you they dont they dont take self pay which is ridiculous and the people running the phones are the most rude ignorant people I have ever had the displeasure of speaking too
