Very terrible doctor. Husband used to go there because his parents did. First visit I attended with him I noticed how incompetent he was. We went for an allergy problem and he thought my husband was just sick so he didnt want to prescribe any medications. After another visit I was done with him. My husband has a muscle issue in his shoulders and Dr iezzi couldnt diagnose it or even give us a referral to another Dr. How are you a primary and cant even do the one thing youre there for?

I have been to see Dr. Iezzi twice in the last few months. I havent had to wait more than a few minutes in the lobby and 10 minutes in the exam room. The staff is incredibly caring and very thorough. Dr. Iezzi takes the time to listen to his patients and goes out of his way to make sure he does everything he can to help them. I appreciate that he does this highly recommend this practice!

I had been a patient of Dr. Alan Iezzis since the early 2000s and for the most part was very happy. None of my negativity has anything to do with Dr. Iezzi himself. He listens, he cares, he remembers. But his office staff... At the moment, I do not have enough bad language to describe how I think and feel about 2 of his people. Recently called in to renew a Rx (that Dr. Iezzi himself initiated years ago) and was treated as if I am a good-for-nothing, scumbag drug addict. I had an extremely negative reaction from (her decision) going cold-turkey off of a long-term medication and office worker would NOT book an appointment to see the Dr. until I got yourself together. The office employees have done a stellar job in preventing me from seeing a Doctor that I had come to trust and respect. Its is now an absolute horror for me to have to contact the office to request Rx refills.

After six (6) years of entrusting my health to this group, I will never again step foot into the office of Dr. Alan J. Iezzi, MD (Family Medical Centers of Tampa Bay) or the office of any medical group affiliated with them. I’m a 47 year old healthy male, married with four children and a full time job as an electrical engineer. Personally, I enjoy training and competing in triathlons as an amateur athlete. Eight (8) years ago I was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) [enlarged prostate]. Since that time I’ve been prescribed and have routinely taken one (1) 4 mg Doxazosin tablet a day to prevent restriction of urine flow. On occasion, when I forget to take my single day’s dosage, urination is restricted and can be quite uncomfortable. Otherwise, this condition has had no significant impact on my daily life.On Sunday (4/2/17), I noticed that my prescription was running low. I called my local Walgreens pharmacy and was told that I had no refills available; however, my doctor would be contacted for authorization. On Monday (4/3/17), my doctor denied the refill request and told the pharmacy that the prescription couldn’t be refilled until after the results of a blood test were received and an in-office examination was performed. I soon realized that I hadn’t been to see my doctor for just over 1 year (379 days to be exact). Like so many others in this day and age who are very busy, I seldom schedule annual medical check-ups on the 1-year anniversary date of my exam from the year prior. I recognized the need to get my blood work completed and to schedule an appointment to see my doctor as soon as possible. I left work early on Monday, the same day that my doctor refused to refill my prescription and headed to his office to pick up a blood work script so that I could have blood drawn the very next day (Tuesday, 4/4/17). I also wanted to schedule an appointment on the earliest date that was available. Since the doctor’s schedule would not allow me to be seen for eight (8) days, I asked the office manager and front office staff if the doctor would approve an eight (8) day supply of the prescription, just to get me by until my appointment the following Tuesday, 4/11/17. Recall, I had been taking the same medication every day for past eight (8) years. I was simply blown away when I was told by the front office, “No, your prescription can’t be refilled until you see the doctor.” I asked to speak to the doctor and they told me that he had already left for the day. They further explained that they had already spoken to him specifically about my situation and he still denied my request for an eight (8) day supply. I can certainly appreciate the need for protocol with regard to prescribing and dispensing medication. However, physicians who are unreasonable and don’t have the best interest of their patients’ health in mind at all times should not be practicing medicine. Bear in mind that Doxazosin is a low dose blood pressure medication and not a narcotic. I’m thankful for the rational thinking and patient care that I received on Tuesday, 4/4/17 from a local Primary Care Walk-In Clinic that truly understood my situation and made my comfort and health a top priority unlike Dr. Alan J. Iezzi and his staff. Anyone who is considering Dr. Alan J. Iezzi as their primary care physician, I would like to strongly discourage from doing so.
