The low level of healthcare provided through the Spartanburg VA Clinic cannot be over emphasized enough. Simple and basic phone communication is not possible the majority of time with this office. Once again today I have tried to call the office you put in an appropriate extension number which are supposed to have an advance, then you are usually rolled over to the Columbia phone center, and then they play a recorded message and after a few minutes another message comes on and says you’ve reached a number that is no longer in service and the line disconnects. They have been informed in the past repeatedly about this problem. I’ve had this happen more than a dozen times this year alone! So usually we have to use the VA is secure messaging email system to the VA healthcare portal, and usually it’s anywhere 2 to 3 days before someone will come back with the answer to your email. But in the case of today I am needing to get prior authorization to go for an emergency room visit, and after calling for hours to my local Spartanburg VA Clinic, and then calling directly trying to get through to the phone center in Columbia I cannot reach anyone and now it’s after hours and I won’t have any prior authorization if I do go to the ER this weekend. This is unacceptable and provides zero level of care when you can’t even communicate with your doctor. This has been an ongoing problem for more than a year. We thought we had it solved last year when we got a lot of people involved and for a few months it worked then they did something to the phone tree and it’s now back to where it just rings and rings rolls over and stops and cuts off the veteran. There’s more I could say about this clinic and some service scary mix up with medication and dosage, but you get the idea. I don’t know where they find the doctors that they find but your your average civilian doctor would provide better medical care than I’m getting there.

For myself, I have only had positive experience. Dr Streck has always provided attentive care. The staff in lab have always been competent and caring as well as nurses with Dr Streck. I am grateful to have medical care I can count on!

The system is broken. They are closed to vets to keep them safe at the same time sending vets to higher risk places to get what care they can, Sad. There are some real good people working there but you may never get to see them for real. Off to Wal-Mart to get over the counter meds since no one else will help.

I only gave it two stars because of the nurses. Doctors should get a job in Walmart.

I was seen here a few days ago after moving back to this area from another state. I was assigned to Team 4, saw a nurse, a doctor, and had labs done, all within two hours. They even got me in to see a social worker on the same day. Maybe it’s a little early to give five stars, but from my first experience with this clinic they deserve it.

I was in Rolling Thunder chapter 2 Spartanburg SC. 29301 We did the grand opening for the CARE Center. I HOPE OTHERS HAVE BETTER LUCK GETTING SEEN. I HAVE BEING TRYING FOR 4 YEARS TO GET A DR. I HAVE TO DRIVE TO JOHNSON CITY TENNESSEE TO THE VA. CARE CENTER TO GET HELP. MAYBE ONE DAY BEFORE I DIE I WILL BE SEEN. UNTIL THEN MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO ALL VETERANS. The new interim mental health doctor needs to be rushed out the door quickly. Breaks my heart to know that our veterans are being treated so horrible. If you dont have the passion and drive to actually help veterans and their families find another line of work!

I am really thankful for the VA clinic but sometimes you feel like it would be easier to make an appointment with the pope than to see a DR.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The doctor made me feel uncomfortable and didnt do anything for me. I felt disrespected and the doctor was not only racist but also sexist. I refuse to go back to this horrible clinic

1.)I had labs done due to hypoglycemia, after fasting I had more labs done to test my levels and they had dropped one point lower than the previous test. The nurse then said to me that I was just hungry and that I needed to eat.... I had just eaten a large meal. 2.) I went in to be seen due to being very ill and I was told by a nurse that it was probably just allergies. I DONT HAVE ALERGIES! A month after that visit I received a prescription in the mail for an antibiotic supposedly for bronchitis that was written a week after a was seen in the facility. So why did I get the script a month later if I had “ allergies”?3.) I have PTSD and they providers have done everything they can to not give me service connected disability... though my records specifically state that I was involved in an ied explosion in Iraq.Perhaps this is too much information to be sharing but hopefully together we can make a difference for other veterans receiving the same and or worse treatment.
