When visting town I wanted a 7 day pass because I never been here. Instead they made me pay $20 ( overprice) for a day membership pass. I was a little annoyed by that but I let it go. I didn’t know that there was a mask mandate in Seattle. I wore a mask. just because I was traveling. After my set, I lowered my mouse for two seconds and one of the employees ( Heavyset gentleman) Polices me about putting my mask on. However if you do your research the people who are getting Covid and dying are people who aren’t vaccinated. To be honest with you if you want to prevent people from spreading something make sure people are vaccinated before entering your building. Won’t recommend this to anyone and won’t be coming back here ever again it’s really annoying sorry

Its a decent gym and sometimes gets busy. Its in an interesting location and also has in interesting layout. Worked out here with Trevor as a personal trainer for a couple months because I was in town for work. Really good trainer and I like his style.A couple times I came here on my own I noticed it was quite busy and every now and then the front desk would have some admin/technical difficulties with my check in (kinda annoying but Im sure it wasnt their fault). However, the other side of the gym was always nice and pretty empty. I didnt like to stick to the machines anyways.

I have to say that I really appreciated the gym and found everyone really responsive. It’s by far the best gym I found for people into rights and really well equipped with new equipment. There’s no towel service which would be nice, but not a deal breakerEven cancelling my membership due to a move was easy and handled THE SAME DAY. It’s a family run business and really reasonably priced. Definitely check them out.

Worst experience ever cencelling my membership! No one from the gym will help you with that in person. They send you to a different group of people. I got it. This is their process. So I emailed in June. Whoever working on cancelling mistaken my account as someone elses and cancelled that account. I have to email so many times to explain. They ask for my bank statements to prove that they charged me. Meantime they kept charging my card for three months. I’m about to be charged for October and still trying to get this straight. I don’t care if I get that back now I just want this to end. It’s the worst experience that you have to check back on this again and again.

Be careful of the scam. I was visiting in town for a month and I did the one month Groupon deal. I confirmed TWICE with the employee that there would be no recurring charges, but still got billed for a second month. I contacted them regarding the surprise charge and was kicked to ABC fitness the account management. In response to the owner reply. The very first thing I told your employees was I was visiting and none of them informed me about the Groupon deal applies to local residents only. They simply processed it and told me it’s a one time payment with no reoccurring charges, while in fact I got charged for a second month without any notice.Stop blaming the customers when you do not clearly state rules and give FALSE informations. If your business tells customer one thing and does another that is called a SCAM.

Im about to move so Ill no longer be here, but I thought Id leave a review. Generally, this is a really good gym. The equipment is in good condition, the staff are friendly, and the hours are reasonably flexible. That said, I think there are a few things that would be huge quality of life improvements for most gym goers.1. Please get a few real lifting belts. There are a few that are plastic/velcro, but theyre not really good enough quality to do anything heavy. Ive had to bring my own belt because of the lack of quality. If you spend ~$300 on three belts, a lot of your patrons will thank you for it, especially the more serious lifters.2. Analogous to my comment above, please get a belt to let people do weighted pull ups & other activities. Its quite difficult to do so with the equipment thats currently available.Really liked my time here, but I think that those two improvements would go a very far ways. Good luck & I wish you guys all the best!

Deeply unhappy with shady business practices. They were not straightforward with all the fees when we started up. I am actively upset with how they stuck a couple of months of fees in the Covid situation. They did not remove the problematic charges after I contacted then. I love the gym, not the management. If you dont care about money, it wont be an issue for you.

Ive been a member at PNW Fitness and love this gym. The pricing is straightforward and quite cheap, especially for such a large gym in Capitol Hill. Theres all manner of equipment to suit any training style, and pre-covid, there was a huge variety of group training classes (spinning, pilates, Les Mills) included for free with the membership and taught by enthusiastic instructors. The gym is clean, well ventilated, rarely crowded, and well maintained, and the staff is friendly and professional.Theres also access to excellent personal trainers. I work with Brandon, which has been a great experience. Hes extremely knowledgeable and encouraging, listens to my training goals, and builds fun and challenging workouts to push me towards those goals. He carefully watches my form on every exercise and adjusts my workout if anything feels off, all to make sure I dont get injured. Training with Brandon is taking my fitness to a new level, and I would highly recommend working with him.

Dave Frisbee assessed me (by coincidence he also did the last time). I signed up for personal training as I have a lot of ground to cover and am >50 so want to be careful. Dave is also my trainer and he has built my trust and I feel confident following his guidance. For me, the membership desk was courteous and efficient, Dave got right back to me, and I have been 5 days a week for a month and appreciated the friendly staff, clean environment and equipment in good operation.

I just recently signed up with this gym and its been more or less pretty positive. The members have been pretty friendly, the staff is good, and the facility/equipment is very nice and new.My only real complaint is just how PACKED this place is, dont plan on coming here right after work if you want to get out in a decent amount of time. I dont like spending more than 45 minutes to an hour in a gym, but I find myself having to wait to do just about anything other than run on a treadmill.I suspect this has something to do with them losing their downtown location. Im going to give it another month or two, but its got me considering going to a different gym. Please tell me there are plans to open a new location in the near future!

My locked-in rate from back then has been honored with no upcharges, my personal trainers have been fantastic (Ive had a few of them over the years), and the Monday-Friday opener is the sunshine that perks me up for my 5:30am workouts. I was surprised by all the negative reviews here. Ive been a member for ~2.5 years. Its super close to where I live, so thats why I joined. Its not a fancy gym, but they have free classes and a good amount of equipment, so it works fine.I also have canceled my membership and re-joined. The cancellation process is kind of annoying since you do have to contact another source. I think I called them? Or maybe I sent a letter. In any case, it does take 30 days to cancel. And you need to do it within the first 10 days of the month or something like that. If you ask about canceling prior to needing to do it and plan accordingly its not bad though. Sorry for those of you who have had bad experiences with this. :/

Solid place to lift, reasonable prices. Biggest downside is in the main weight room, the music is absolutely BLASTING. 95% of people wear their personal earbuds to the gym, and the gym musics volume makes it so no matter how high you turn up your earbuds, you will hear the repetitive top-50 soundtrack coming through over your music. Great gym with nice machines...until you try to cancel your membership. In January I had a small skiing accident and my doctor told me no gym for six months. Notice the date of this post...yeah, ITS JUNE. Guess who is still trying to stop the emails and bills?Just like many gym chains, Golds Gym makes money by making cancelling a membership ridiculously, infuriatingly complicated. The staff have no power, the ownership/management is mostly absent and, when present, they have failed as promised to stop the billing and harassment.WE HAD TO CHANGE BANKS BECAUSE WE COULDNT GET THEM TO STOP CHARGING US. I showed up after with the canceled debit card and told them they could keep it now. Ive tried everything including calling the company that manages their membership. Ive been polite. Ive made a scene. Ive threatened a bad review which I am now proudly delivering.I know the old Ballys Fitness gyms got sued once for these kinds of behavior. Ive been going to Golds - Cap Hill for about five years. You cant really beat the location, if you live on the hill. Its located right on Broadway, and directly above QFC, so you can pick up your post-workout dinner after your session.I recently started a 90 day challenge, and the different trainers at the club have been super helpful, and supportive. They put a team together, and we ran the Howe street stairs last weekend, and will be doing a 5K around Seward Park tomorrow. Its awesome to know that I have a support system for my general health and fitness. My main point of contact at the gym is Vince. Vince is the general manager of this location. Hes always got a smile on his face, and is happy to answer any workout/diet questions you have. The gym is clean, and fully loaded with equipment and classes. As a member of the Cap Hill community, its also nice seeing the Golds crew out on Broadway each year for Pride, and getting involved in the community.

I asked the sales guy. Is that all Im paying, so long as I cancel a month in advance Im not going to see any surprises?Nope, just cancel by the 28th of the month before And then he hurried me through the paperwork.Surprise! Annual Fee of $55Response to owner:You are correct, I did sign your agreement. I read it later to find out you got me on the hook for $55 a year. You got me!But maybe these agreements shouldnt be primarily on a computer that faces the salesman, where he enters in most of users data, scrolls to the bottom of the agreement page, and then just hands the user a mouse to sign with, and lies right to a users face when asked about other gym fees.

While the facility is nice, their sales practice leaves a lot to be desired. I walked in a few weeks ago ready to work out and asked to sign up but instead ended up leaving feeling really frustrated and annoyed. As soon as I sat with the service rep, I was informed that he couldnt tell me what the official monthly rate was because the system has not yet updated for the day (??) but that it changes every day (???) and would most likely go up if I waited. There is a classic sales technique where you create a false sense of urgency in order to close a deal. I laughed out loud when he told me this story because the facade was so painfully obvious.Instead of furnishing me with a printed list of what services are available and what the rates were, he started madly scribbling on a blank piece of paper. The first thing he wrote was a $259 registration fee and a $89 monthly fee (with 1st & last month required), then wrote under that $59 registration and $69 respectively. I got confused and asked why one was so much higher, and he said the first set of prices were their normal rates but that they were running a special if I signed up today. I laughed out loud yet again and started to wonder whether I had accidently walked into a used car dealership.I want to be charitable but everything from that encounter indicates they think their customer base is a bunch of imbeciles. Instead of claiming that your system has not updated with the monthly rate, why not just be honest? Instead of claiming your sign-up fee is normally $259 (who would actually pay this??), why not just be honest about what the price actually is? As noted in other reviews, they also tack on a $65 annual fee that triggers 35 days after you first sign-up; and this is in addition to the registration fee. Why is there an additional annual fee in addition to the monthly fee and registration fee? No idea, but its suspicious that the annual fee triggers so early on in the enrollment period instead of logically at the end of a year. My (uncharitable) guess is that they want to milk customers who cancel for as much money as possible.I can appreciate how difficult it must be to profitably run such a large gym, but I cant tolerate how obfuscating and patronizing their sales approach is. I showed up to their location in workout clothes ready to sign up if only they didnt pull this blatantly sleazy sales approach.I would recommend a place like the YMCA instead. Not only is their pricing transparent (no sign-up fee, no annual fee, etc) but they also offer reduced rate if your income qualifies.Edit 1/21/20: I reached out to the owner below a while ago and emailed with the director of admin services. It was a weird exchange because they kept repeating that my experience was not representative of their company, but then simultaneously provided a long explanation justifying their pricing structure. Very confusing. None of my observations were specifically refuted so it appears that the sales rep was indeed following company protocol. They offered me a two week trial which was also weird because none of my issues had anything to do with the facility but rather their sales practices. They gave no indication of how they would change the latter.

The gym itself is average, having most weightlifting equipment you need for a decent workout. However its trainers are by far the rudest trainers of any gym I have been too. They move your equipment while youre working out, they will hog mutiple equipments at once, and are downright abrasive. Somehow they and the gym managment doesnt realize the people that work out there are paying costumers. Recently they have also started designating certain areas of the gym for the trainers during peak hours (before and after) work! On top of that they dont do a good job of keeping the weights organized - they can get a bit messy. Golds Gym is amongst a selective list of Capitol Hills iconic neighborhood establishments, such as Dicks, The Laughing Buddha and Roy Street Coffee. Capitol Hill is a lively, vivacious block composed of diversified cultures and individuals; if you love working out, Golds Gym is synonymous with the neighborhood it occupies.Located right above QFC on Broadway and E Harrison (street for parking), Golds staff is organically pleasant and positive. The first things to catch your eye may be the facilitys cleanliness, volume of equipment, and seemingly endless space; yet, what sold me was the content and strength of the good vibes and energy I felt at the gym.I havent been a member long, for which reason I cannot speak on behalf of those who have had poor experiences. Ive never had a problem with billing; even if I did, the club itself surpasses minor membership discrepancies and human mistake. I love to work out, and every member Ive met (including the gorgeous IFBB Pro Stephanie Billings, to drop a name) has the same upbeat, positive attitude towards fitness and health as I do. They just did big expansion, which is great, but the roots of the gym, free weights and cardio is in the same condensed small part. Every time I go in, there are few people in the new parts which have weight machines, and crossfit equipment. and everyone is packed into the original small 2 story part of the gym. They should cater more to the cliental that go to this gym. Cap Hill is a very gay friendly neighborhood, and gay men are a very fit bunch. Thus the free weights are very crowded, in the small space that its in. So I wish the layout was better suited to the crowds. Move the free weights to the much larger new part. and put the crossfit gym in the old part.
