My favorite gym and LA fitness location. You get top-quality equipment and cleanliness in a large open space. You’ll also get outstanding service from a Manager. You heard me. Dexter Recca is the difference. I’ve been to gyms across the US and I have never met an Assistant Regional Manager or any Manager for that matter who genuinely cares enough to connect with members. No ulterior motive when he stops to talk or listen to concerns? Nope. Just the type of person who loves helping people and takes pride in their job. That’s the kind of service that can inexplicably make a gym special and a business thrive.

Wish I could rate 0 stars, avoid this gym at all costs.First, you will experience a lot of billing issues. Sales guys give you wrong information about monthly charges and try hard to get you to buy unnecessary packages.Second, gym itself is crowded and you have to wait for your turn. Equipment is outdated.Personal training is a waste of money, I have trained with other personal trainers in the area and LA fitness trainers are no where near in terms of professionalism or expertise, sessions last less than thirty minutes and they leave early saying they have to attend to the next person.

I’ve been super pleased with this gym- everyone is really nice and it’s kept clean and broken or damaged equipment is fixed quickly. They have great rates, and when I cancelled my membership in the fall d/t increasing covid cases, it was hassle-free and easy.My ONLY complaint: it’s hot! I get this week has been extra toasty, but I’ve cut my workouts short because there aren’t fans on most of the machines and the AC hasn’t been going very strong. It’s comfortable if you *aren’t* working out, but otherwise I’m quickly drenched in sweat. Hopefully this changes soon?

I would have kept coming to this gym if it wasn’t for their shady billing practices. They began charging my account for months without *proper* notification to anyone on my membership, only one email months beforehand. Even though it is clear the membership wasn’t used at all, and it was a mistake for the accounts to be activated considering no one was attending, they will not make any exceptions. I’d rather go to a gym that has better customer service and cares more about their customers than small technicalities. If you go, just be careful. They don’t care about keeping you, just business, which I can understand. I’d rather go someplace nicer even if I have to pay more. Just a heads up, almost no one including employees are wearing masks at this location. And their is no verification of vaccination required.I before covid had been attending 3/4 times a week for about a year and I’d just like to note how often I’ve seen peoples locker contents stolen. It happens a lot at this location. This gym just isn’t worth all this poor service.I would be happy if someone from la fitness sees this and contacts me, as I really wasn’t planning on quitting until this refund issue arose.

I used this gym for many years and then took a break before rejoining last summer. The place is clean, the showers are well stocked, and the staff are friendly. I use the pool, which is in an atrium overlooking Ballard Bridge. The water is a comfortable temperature and the lanes are wide enough to swim breast stroke easily. They seem to be taking the COVID safety procedures seriously as well. Also, if you use this gym a few times a week it is a terrific value!

+ very friendly, smart, helpful staff (maybe thats just Seattle)+ huge+ good machines+ showers have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash+ separate lock boxes for valuables+ great price, excellent value+ free parking on premises+ free fast WiFi, no password required+ facilities and machines are cleaned throughout the day+ lap pool, hot tub - the works+ squash/racquet ball+ very affordable bring a friend program+/- separate, somewhat secluded, low visibility areas for stretching and exercising+/- towels have sensors that presumably go off when a guest takes a towel outside of the facility (i.e. tries stealing a towel). At first I thought, Isnt that overkill? How many people are into stealing gym towels? Then I was intrigued since the cost of all those sensors must be less than the wholesale cost of all the towels stolen in an average year at other gyms. Now I am thinking, Okay, why not? Maybe thats the future: as the cost of sensors comes down, technology will enable society to crack down on theft - which should benefit all the honest people since the damage caused by a couple if thieves us currently socialized and born by us all.- only one electric outlet for laptops or phone charging in lounge- no machine to dry wet bathing suits- most water fountains dont have bottle refill feature- round instead of square hot tub would create more space- opens late on weekends (8am)- - biggest negative: very few classes and most of them seem to be old-lady-lame. This is the biggest negative of this gym: VERY FEW CLASSES, no HIIT, etc.- atmosphere is very mellow, low energy: no grunting at the free weights, nobody excitedly rushing to class (but maybe thats just Seattle)Bottomline: excellent gym, excellent facility, excellent value - but youre basically on your own: dont expect much in terms of classes, high energy instructors, and high intensity, fast paced group experiences to a throbbing beat (but maybe thats...)

I love working out here, but I just had the rudest experience with one of the Personal Trainers. She had shorter blonde hair, and was wearing a cropped black hoodie and a Nike hat. I was working on the TRX Bands, as well as one of the cables beside it.She completely interrupted my set, and took the TRX bands to start working with her client.I asked her if I could finish my set on them before she used them with her client, and she seemed shocked? She told me, “yeah sure, but this space is normally a trainer only space so don’t use it next time,” very rudely.Like? Seriously? I was never informed I was not allowed to use that space. And on top of that, there are no other TRX bands in the gym, so what exactly am I supposed to use?I have never had a bad experience with another trainer, they have all been extremely nice, especially when it comes to equipment to open up during busy hours (it was around 7:45pm when this happens on Thursday, so it was fairly busy)I understand working with a client and prioritizing that, as it is her job, but there was no need to be so rude about it. I didn’t even finish my workout, because I didn’t want to get in her and her clients way.Other than that, it’s a great gym. Everyone I have met or spoken to that works there is really nice!

Im devastated, because I left my wallet in the girls locker room, and $250 from my wallet was stolen when I was done working out. They didnt steal my wallet, and even left some $1 bills. I couldnt stop crying. I told the staff members about what happened, and he just said sorry and didnt even try to help me. That made me feel even worse. Im just a student without any income, and the money that I do get, I need to work a lot of hours to make. If I cant trust to leave my things in the locker room, whats the point of going? I was thinking of buying a membership, but I dont feel safe going anymore. There are plenty of other gyms you can visit in Seattle. Some trainers dont even look fit. They even lie about their schedule and make you come at their own convenient times. If you cancel in the middle you will have to pay 50% of balance fee. I urge everyone to think twice before considering the PT package. One free PT session for all the members is a bait. Dont fall for it and end up paying big chunk of money like I did . They act nice and spend time more in that free session to attract you. Honestly you are not going to get any value out of 25 min session for 70$. Staff is clue less and orchestration is very poor.

Update 4/22/19: About a month ago, I started receiving calls from LA Fitness asking if Id like to renew my yearly membership. I indicated that for a number of reasons I wasnt happy at the club and would prefer to wait. The calls continued, sometimes as often as twice daily. Eventually they began offering incentives, first 4 guest passes and a free fitness assessment (pretty worthless, IMO), and then unlimited guest passes and the assessment. Still, I reiterated that I was disastisfied with the quality of the gym and their management. THEN, I received a call this afternoon asking me yet again to renew. I asked very simply: do you have notes on any of the prior conversations Ive had with your colleagues? The person on the phone said one moment, let me look at your notes...ah yes, I see youre having some financial difficulty and cannot afford the membership right now. To be clear, this was never an objection I have had or articulated to them. I cannot urge you enough: stay away from this organization. Im tempted to file a complaint with the BBB.Update 11/20/18: Called to see if this LA Fitness was reopen for business after their remodel. They are not (original reopen date was supposed to be today). They pushed the date back by 3 days which means we all have to continue finding alternatives until after the Thanksgiving holiday. I expected some level of sympathy from the person who shared this over the phone but she couldnt have cared less.Update 10/24/18: This place sucks. I paid for a year membership ahead of time, only to learn they are shutting down the whole gym for 3 weeks next month (November). Their solution? Drive to West Seattle. Thanks LA Fitness, but Id rather choose another gym and pay double the fee than allow you to treat me like garbage (see comments below related to management and lack of competition). The gym itself is fine. They have racquetball, basketball, pool, free weights, etc. Its almost always too crowded--to the point where you have to amend your workout based on whats available. More than anything, I dislike their management and corporate structure. I was already an LA member for a decade when I joined the signature club but still had to pay $150 initiation fee in addition to the higher monthly rate. If you want to cancel your membership, you have to do so in person during the hours the club manager is working (or else snail mail your cancellation to HQ in Los Angeles). Ive been to numerous other LA clubs in the Seattle area that arent Signature but have all the same amenities and often time better facilities. In my opinion, they take advantage of the relatively minimal competition in the area to promote aggressive, borderline unethical sales/membership tactics.

HARASSMENT! First word of the review is very important I think. If you don’t read the rest of this review, at least you know why I’m rating them with 1 Star.I was ambushed at the park while I was with my dog by an associate that works for this specific facility. He approached me as if he was new to the area and wanted me to try the gym. Free 2 week pass, I just have to come to the facility and have a tour and my pass activated and I can use it at any location. Without asking permission he pulled out his phone and ignored me while opening up, I presumed, his calendar to book my appointment. I told him i don’t live in the area and he brushed off my response and said I could use it anywhere, not knowing where I live or if a gym is even located to me.I set up an appointment with him to just check it out and he got the time wrong twice, and my name in a three minute conversation. Sadly for me, that is a bad sign. I’ve done sales and attention to details matter. He was only there at the park to push for new members. This was n someone that does not care or just not knowledgeable about sales. I was then called SEVEN times in the following three days by two associates and the proceeded to get my name and the time wrong for my appointment. I was approached initially on a Thursday and made the appointment for Sunday.I called on Saturday to speak about the number of calls and to cancel my appointment (for the next day) and the receptionist could not locate my contact. No option to leave a message or a good time to call back, just “can’t find him and call back later.” What a mistake because now I have no interest in looking at any of their facilities. It is now Wednesday and I’m still getting calls. I wasn’t going to say the sales person/my contacts name but I’m still getting called as if I’m a new client. I spoke to KAREEM and he doesn’t recall any of our other conversations. I told him on Monday I was no longer interested and I had to bluntly tell him just now (Wednesday) I’m not interested in the gym and he ignored me and continued to talk about the pass and getting it activated so I can go to a gym near me. Now I’m going to have to block the number and call to speak to the manager and corporate. Unacceptable service and training. Please don’t get trapped into this like I did and definitely don’t go to this facility/gym if you can avoid it.

But, I needed to sign and go through getting a full monthly membership. Turns out if you search online, you can get 5 Day Guest Pass, free of charge! I currently go to Fitness 19, which is very basic and doesnt have a pool, hot tub, or sauna. Seeing an offer for a coupon for a 7-day free trial, I came in to try out the nicer gym to see if it was worth switching. While the sauna was nice, the hot tub was broken. Overall I found the gym had worse equipment than fitness 19 and was so busy that it was harder to get access to the equipment. After the 2nd day of the trial I was informed that the trial would not be for 7 days, but only three. When I told them that this was not what they promised and that this was false advertising, the representative did not seem to care. Even if I had found the gym to be worthwhile otherwise, I would not want to join a gym that starts out their relationship by lying to their customers.Update: after complaining to corporate and local seeing this review, they both reached out to me and gave me a two week free pass. Ive gotten a chance to try it some more. I still find it too busy most of the time and that it doesnt have a good variety of cardio equipment (e.g. no ARC trainers). HORRIBLE WORST GYM EXPERIENCE EVERI was hoping I’d be able to give a positive review after this ridiculous closure for renovations, but I’m sorry to say that my review is worse now than before.I’ll start by saying that I worked in a number of gyms as a personal trainer during and after college. I know how they are supposed to operate as well as the struggles encountered in operation. This gym, and L.A. Fitness in general, doesn’t have to do the things listed below, but rather chooses to at the expense of their members. I’d welcome anyone from the company to explain otherwise.1.) The only reason I see that this club is a, “Signature Club” are the towels offered to members. All other amenities are offered at other “regular” clubs. So, it appears you are charging members increased dues for the courtesy of having microchipped towels when I’m sure we’d all rather pay lower dues and bring our own towels.2.) When I moved, I was told that my all club membership didn’t apply to this signature club so, in order to use the club, I would have to cancel my membership and start a new one where the cost to do that would have been higher than using the gym 5 days a week for 6 months being the $5 daily fee.3.) Staff does nothing to help members and are clearly there to collect a check for folding towels while avoiding contact with members at all cost.4.) A notice of gym closure appeared in October where the gym was to be closed from November 7 through November 20. Of course the member services and sales would be open because making money is obviously more important than taking care of members. Alternative options were given of West Seattle and another location which would be ridiculously inconvenient for the majority of members. AFTER WAITING PATIENTLY, IT APPEARS THIS CLOSURE WAS EXTENDED TO FRIDAY WITH NO APPARENT NOTIFICATION GIVEN TO MEMBERS. REASON GIVEN UPON CALLING WAS, “UM IT JUST GOT EXTENDED I DUNNO.”MY FRUSTRATION LIES IN YOUR DISREGARD FOR ALL MEMBERS WHERE YOU ARE ESSENTIALLY HOLDING THEM HOSTAGE TO HIGHER RATES AND CLOSURES BECAUSE YOU ARE THE ONLY REASONABLE GYM OPTION IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. THIS IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO TREAT PEOPLE OR DO BUSINESS.

No hot water. Leaking roof. This winter this place has been a disaster. They dont seem to value their customers. For 2 weeks, you cant take a shower and they dont even offer any discount or credit. Going to look elsewhere.

The largest LA I have seen. A smaller pool that is always busy but a separate for for cycling and a huge fitness class room. I think 6 racquetball court and tons of cardio equipment. A very lively gym. One of my favorites.

I really want to say I love this gym because it has so much potential. But I cant. Lockers have been broken for over 2 years, the heat/AC broke and it took a month to fix it which meant the locker room was like a sauna - too hot to even dry your hair. The water extractor for swimsuits broke so many times its finally gone but who knows IF and WHEN it will be fixed. When something breaks at this club it usually takes many, many weeks or months to fix it. How difficult would it be to get a metal piece for the broken lockers so people can use them with a lock? Im not sure where the breakdown is but I dont think its the manager. I think its more likely a problem at the top - owners. Other LA Fitness gyms in other states are much better and they arent a signature club. Oh - and the towels are so sparse that now they ask people to take only one. One towel for long hair and a shower? Please. Not sure what even makes this place a signature club anymore. Its embarrassing to know I pay $54 a month.

Not only did Alex help me find a place to read the terms and service agreement of the wifi, she lied to me about where her boss was. For me to complain about an incident that happened in the locker room does not make me feel good. I discussed with the janitorial person about almost tripping over what he was utilizing to clean, all he could say was, GOOD.... THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! In addition to that, there was another employee on a ladder fixing something above everyones head that was working out. What is wrong here? Ill tell you. They needed some more safety classes? I do not wanna feel like something might hit me from above when I am working out. You should be on top of your word when it comes to the hours you issued on their website. I am a former Marine Corps Professional talking good things about this club only to be DISGRACED by the clients I want to bring here. I about LOST a person I met at Seattle Central Collage while starting my non profit organization called KOTRTC, (Knights of the round table charity) as a client. He was really excited to start lifting weights for the first time ever in his life, only to be angered that the hours I told him did not match up with the credentials I gave him.He picked me up at my house and brought me to the gym only to find out that it was locked. We tried two different levels. P2 and P4. This hurts my words as a person since I like to keep my word to myself and to my clients. It bring me to say I will have to think of a different place to work out. This is a nice looking gym with great amenities. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash could all be upgraded though. As of now I do not recommend this establishment to anyone wanting to feel good about themselves being in a SAFE PLACE.

Didnt want to listen when I sent my girlfriend in for her vip guest pass. Just kept pushing a membership. She was really hoping to try it out and see if she liked it. Very disappointed.

Gyms by nature, especially large chains spanning several states, are going to be motivated to make money and predatory with getting you to sign up for amenities or features you might not necessarily need.News flash: Salesmen are salesmen. That being said, when I was initially signing up they had tried (either through genuine mistake or preying upon someone not paying attention) to get me to sign up for the nationwide access to all LA Fitnesses instead of just the single state. I had the full intention of signing up for a gym and paying monthly while being locked in for at least 6 months. As long as you control the pace of the sales pitch by slowing them down and making sure you understand everything about the contract/plan youre signing, you will either get what you want or youll be aware enough to just say no.For those curious about price. I ended up with a plan that is a 12 month locked in plan for ~$45/month with an annual fee of ~$100. Not great, but not the worst I have seen.As for the actual gym, it seems like a lot of low-star reviews are over exaggerating the dirtiness of the location as its not that bad and staff have been pretty good about keeping the floors clean and decluttered. I have been a member since November 2018 and go between 6pm and 8pm and its always relatively clean for how busy it is. Which is also a comment to make about people complaining about the gym being busy and equipment being used. Just go at sometime other than very peak hours or accept the fact that there is a finite amount of resources when the gym is at its busiest. For what Im paying for, I got what I expected. I have access to stationary bikes, weights, mats for stretching and doing PT exercises, sauna, hot tub, etc. This is a gym you have a membership with so you can put your headphones on, go in, mind your own business, exercise, and leave. Its not a mom and pop gym or super specialized. Its middle of the road, mass appeal and if you expect anything else out of it, youre welcome to go somewhere else. Dont expect much of a difference in price though.

Nice gym but shady management practices make it very difficult to cancel your account and I was billed for extra months after I canceled my account. Very disappointed as a customer who would be returning in the future but unlikely after how I was given the run around by management.

I simply love this gym. Though it can be packed during gym-rush-hours (4-7pm), it offers so many options, you can always find a way to execute your workout plan (just shuffle your activities). Staff is nice, though sometimes consulting meetings will turn into marketing sessions to almost feel uncomfortable you didnt sign for the personal trainers. Besides that, no complaints.

Just changed my review from 5 stars to 1 star. Ive been going to this gym for over 6 years and I guess it was too much for the front desk person to not be completely rude and the person on the phone to also be rude. Not to mention the place has been closed for 3 weeks for unnecessary cosmetic updates with no sign of ever reopening. Skip this piece of shit and find another gym like Im going to do.

I Sign up a membership $0 initiation fee.3month later I was checking on my bank account ,they charge me for $44 monthly which is normal and then they charge me$53 which is not normal. I called them and ask “why did you guys charge me $53?”they said “this annually fee” when you make an advertisement don’t lie that $0initiation fee. Don’t believe that! they taking initiation fee somehow. I won’t be member with them anymore.

I haven’t been a member for that long, but so far every morning I’ve been in there. The people at the front desk have been rude. I get it’s 530/6am, but at least pretend you want to be there. Nothing better then walking into a gym with negative vibes.
