Five stars doesn’t cover the rating for this amazing family-owned establishment. Nancy and Cheryl ( mom & daughter) are absolutely amazing.. they have not only motivated me to try kickboxing for the first time but they have also made me enjoy every minute of it. They are charming, welcoming and knowledgeable- it’s almost as if I knew them for ever. Their bundle deal is by far off the charts. Highly recommend!! I can assure you, even if you’ve never tried kickboxing before, I guarantee you’ll LOVE IT!! And I’m in love with my new 🥊- also part of the bundle deal. 🙌🏼🥰 yay 😁

I stumbled upon this place when I was looking around for a kickboxing community to join (first time kickboxing). I came across this place and it has been the best thing that has happened to me in months! I havent worked out in years, but now Im kickboxing as often as my body allows (super sore the first couple sessions! I try to go every other day) And I feel great! The owners are amazing as well as the instructors. They make you feel at home. One thing I was afraid of was feeling out of place when I joined especially since I have social anxiety. However that did not happen, they welcomed me with wide arms and I felt completely comfortable within 25 minutes within the workout (at first I felt a little silly not doing the kicks and punches correctly, however there was an extra instructor that day who worked at the bag next to me, helping me whenever I needed it!). You wont regret joining!! Its a great place to let out all your frustrations, angry, stress, and more! And by the end of your work out your much more motivated to do things throughout the day :) or at least I am!

I LOVE CKO Miramar! All the instructors are amazing but Nancy is my favorite. Everyone is really friendly but their workouts are intense, and that balance is important especially when trying to reach certain health goals. The classes are different every time, I never get tired of going, and it feels like an extended family!

I started in Nov-ish 2018. I love the sense of community and friendliness here. The teachers are all a bit different as well so you can change it up or stick with a favorite. This is definitely a great way to get back in shape for me. Started with once a week when I could now Im trying to do 1-3 times a week. I can tell a body difference! Thank you everyone =)

CKO is the best kickboxing gym in San Diego with amazing workouts and caring owners and trainers. The owners and trainers knew my name by day 2 and would always make me feel welcomed and motivated. Not only did the trainers welcome me when I walked in, but the other members were friendly and easy to talk to. I liked how every workout was different and the hour class went by quick. The atmosphere is motivating with music playing in the background. After every workout, I felt accomplished and excited to come back the next day and do it all again.Unfortunately, I live out of state and only spend my summers in San Diego so I could only experience CKO for July 2013, but that one month changed my entire summer. By the end of July I noticed a difference in my core strength and endurance. All around I felt more confident and strong. Everyday I am counting down the days until I go back to CKO. Currently I am a student at the University of Arizona, and I am not involved in kickboxing classes because I still havent found a gym as great at CKO.

I have been a client for 2 months and I have to tell you...this is the best workout that Ive ever done in my life! Joe, Trisha and Shaun are some of the best trainers in San Diego. You never leave feeling like a failure. No matter how YOU feel you did in the class, they continue to encourage you. Keep pushing yourself, stay motivated...thats what you hear from them and thats what drives you. If you are like me, you need that extra push to get you to the gym. With CKO, YOU WANT TO GET THERE. Ive lost 12lbs and 3 inches and Im motivated to keep going. The facility is awesome and the rates are great. Come to class...the first one is free! STAY MOTIVATED!

UPDATE (Feb 2018 ): The new owners Nancy and Cheryl have really transformed the gym in every way since they took ownership few months back. The gym looks different and they have a great new team of trainers..each having their own unique style. Dont have to pick my classes ..all trainers are amazing !---------------Walking into CKO kickboxing in January 2014 was a life changing decision!I had been a heavy person all through my grad school and early part of my work life. But all that changed after I walked into CKO Kickboxing , San Diego. Over the course of 4 years at CKO, I have shed roughly 50 pounds, ran 3 half marathons the very first year, have greatly improved my cardio-vascular endurance. What is so different at CKO is that we all (trainers and clients alike ) consider ourselves part of this big CKO family. We all support and encourage each other to push ourselves harder and achieve our fitness goals. The atmosphere here is very friendly, welcoming and non-judgmental. Each trainer has a different unique style and that’s what keeps the workouts interesting. No two workouts are the same!I have also met some really amazing people at CKO who are not just my gym buddies but people I can call friends for life!Even after taking 750+ classes last 4 years, I still leave CKO with my shirt drenched in sweat, feeling mentally much better, alert and physically stronger!CKO is not just a gym for me, it’s a family…. it’s an integral part of my life…its something I cannot live without.. its an addiction (a good one 😊 )!!

I moved across town but Ive kept my membership here because I love the owners, trainers, classes and the community. Trainers/teachers modify for you as needed and allow you to go at your own speed - allowing you to individualize your intensity. I especially appreciate how the trainers/teachers push you through encouragement instead of guilt and harsh words. I love this place!

CKO Kickboxing is an outstanding gym where you can get an outstanding workout with friends, or on your own. I worked out for over a year at another gym with personal trainers and plateaued in my weight loss and health goals. In my first 6 weeks at CKO I did what I couldnt do in a year at the other gym; I lost 25 pounds. Im well on my way to my goal. The owners and trainers are very personable and get to know all the members of the gym. I feel very welcome there and am greeted by name. One of the best parts is that everyone has their own heavy bag and no one is watching you work out. You can get an outstanding workout with the group element of Cross Fit without the embarrassment of strangers eyeing you. In addition, you can also learn some self defense and strengthen your core. This place is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. CKO Kickboxing delivers results!

Grab a buddy day! Free for your buddy AND they offer a good deal on your membership if you join the same day! Oh no biggie Im just sore from the neck down the next day! Everyone is so nice here at CKO. Its like a family here. I thought I would be intimidated not knowing what to do in the first class, but my buddy was beyond helpful! *Update: Im even more sore then this morning when I wrote the review. I thought Id let everyone know...

This is my first google review because CKO is that amazing. Im a dancer/singer/actress and before I came to CKO, I thought I was in good shape, going to 4 hours of dance a day and dragging myself to the gym a few times a week. However, CKO is by far the most incredible workout Ive ever had with the most amazing, caring owners and trainers. After one month of going to class 6 days a week, my body completely toned up and Ive found a new love of kickboxing. Plus, after two days of going to the gym, everyone knew my name and by the end of the month, I felt like family. Finally, CKO has helped me with everything: my dancing (my whole life I have been told to use my core and now I finally found it), my acting, and my confidence in day to day life. Unfortunately, since I live out of state, I was only able to go to CKO for a month, but ever since I left, Ive been doing the workouts on my own every day and Im counting down the time until I can go back. GO TO CKO. YOU WONT REGRET IT.

CKO is by far the best workout I have ever had. I joined the gym after first moving to San Diego in August, and after one free trial classed I joined for the year. Joe, Trisha, Shaun and Angie all do an amazing job at keeping the classes moving and upbeat. They each push me to achieve my goals and you can tell they are truly invested in helping you meet your goals. They greet everyone by name and get to know each of the members on a personal level. I cant imagine going to any other gym, and I am looking forward to the goals I am going to achieve.

CKO is addictive! It makes the fitness part of your day super fun! The trainers are awesome and so are the other members here. A lot of them have been coming here for years and it figures! All the trainers are superstars and have different styles so almost all classes are like different workouts. Theyre very motivating without being condescending or patronizing which really helps in pushing yourself for that extra bit when youre super tired. The pace and intensity is customisable and people can do stuff at their own pace. The trainers give instructions for modifications which are easier to do or alternatives if you have injuries etc. This makes it ideal for people at all fitness levels. I feel myself be able to do more progressively with every class. The owners Nancy and Cheryl are awesome and will make you feel welcome and are always finding ways to make the experience better including the feedback members give them.Whether you want to lose weight, tone up, improve your cardio vascular strength or just have fun punching and kicking bags - this is the place for you!Additonal Pros : Lots of parking, classes from 6am to 7pm, open on weekends, great offer for trying out the class.

Make it your 2013 New Years resolution to take classes at CKO!!Are you ready to work hard, burn lots of calories, and have a lot of fun?! Yes, CKO kickboxing will the workout you want to do. You get to spend a lot of time on the heavy bags, throwing punches and kicks, learning all kinds of combinations, and also youll be on the floor doing push-ups, squats, burpees, and sit-ups! Its a total body work-out. The teachers, Trisha, Joe, and Shaun are very friendly, and they dont let you for a moment, stop or give up. Theyre very motivating and exceptionally good at their job.I live in Murrieta and come down every weekend to take their class. This is by far my favorite work-out ever!

There is a closer boxing (kickboxing?) gym to my place in UTC, but Ive chosen this as my primary go-to gym, and Ive been a regular here since Summer 2012. I have several key factors when searching for a gym to stick to, and so far CKO Kickboxing in Miramar has met all of them. Heres the key factors on my list.PARKING: The parking lot is big enough to accommodate all of the businesses in the small plaza area its in, so Ive never had a problem with looking for parking. EVER.ATMOSPHERE/FIRST IMPRESSION: For those visiting for the first time (as the first class for anyone is always free), there is absolutely NO PRESSURE to sign up. Its either you like the program and sign up on your own accord, or its not what you expected and not sign up. Its your call, and I LIKE THAT. Come at least 10-15 minutes early to fill out paperwork, purchase gloves (if you dont already have your own), and go over some of the basic moves with the trainer before class starts. During class, we do about 3-4 minutes of jumping rope, stretches, warm-up, 3-4 rounds on the bag, circuits, plyometrics, and strength training... then abs, then cool-down stretches. Then we wipe down our bag and area. Easy-peasy. Come 3-5 times a week, and you could see results in about a month or two. The gym is small enough that it starts feeling like family here. Bring a towel and water, or better yet... a drink with natural electrolytes in them. Youre going to sweat like crazy!RESTROOMS/LOCKERS: Restrooms are very clean, so you can feel comfortable changing in a stall with no problem. The Womens restrroom only has 2 stalls, so it may get busy, but Ive probably only experienced a restroom line of 1 other person ahead of me. Not too bad. Only 1 mirror in the restroom, but there are mirrors all along the weights area in the back, so no biggie. There is no locker room, just several rows of lockers stacked against the wall between the Womens and Mens restrooms. There are no showers, but because I live close by and work from home, the no-showers thing is never an issue for me.TRAINERS/CLASSES: Insane! Ive been coming for 2 years, and I can never get used to a routine because theyre always mixing it up each time. There are 4 trainers: Joe, Trisha, Shaun, and Angie. All classes are equally as challenging, but if you come enough times to experience all 4 trainers, youll soon catch on that they have different teaching styles. One thing that remains constant is the verbal feedback they give you during the class... by NAME! So it always feels personal even in a large group class. The classes vary and the combinations they call out seem to be completely random. Yet, it all seems to work in the end. :)MUSIC: Music selection changes every now and then, and is different across trainers. They play it loud enough that it can really hype you up during class. No songs with explicit lyrics are played, although there are ones that are somewhat obviously censored out. Theres a trainer who, throughout the entire class, seems to go in cadence with the music... which was a plus, although I dont know if it was intentional. ;)
