What I love about Bodhi is the staff. Alway careful to meet you where you are emotionally (excited about a new pet, worried or grieving the loss of a furry family member) they provide and incredible level of support. Add to that the fact that their hours and physical availability is so very generous. They are not the cheapest providers out there - then again I dont want the cheapest care for my pets, I want the best care at a fair value. We have worked with them for years and see no reason to change vets any time soon

I am so, so grateful to have found Bodhi for my 4 year old Boston Terrier, Frankie. We love all the staff there so much and I trust them completely with my girl. Nothing but thorough, professional, positive experiences in our year of taking care of Ms. Frankie!Frankie had to spend three days “hospitalized” with them this year in the office, and the staff texted me pictures and updates throughout the day. It made a very stressful situation so much easier on me! Thanks to everyone at Bodhi!

Our dog, Thirteen, has been in Dr. Christina’s care for the past 6 years and we wouldn’t trust anyone else with our little best friend. She truly loves all animals and is an amazing veterinarian!! Everyone that works at Bodhi is always friendly towards us and our dog. Another person that goes above and beyond is Natalie, she is so sweet and helpful! We also appreciated that we got an electronic version of our dog’s lab results with clear and easy to understand description of what every result means! We highly recommend Bodhi!! 🥰

I have had a half-dozen cats over thirty-five years with dozens of vet and emergency room visits. This is my first visit to Bodhi and only the second occasion ever where the doctor didnt strongly recommend a variety of cautionary shots and blood work ... AND there was no long waiting time ... in fact they looked at my Put-Put BEFORE the appointment time and he was done in a half-hour. He got an almost perfect bill of health, they said to try an over the counter antihistamine for his occasional sneezes, and gushed over my big boy because he was a sweetheart even being examined by strangers. They were also very attentive on the phone and taking him in and out of the building. When is the last time you were happy you took your pet to the vet? And its even more remarkable given theyre not a small, cat-only, practice!

I’m a first time dog owner and Bodhi Animal Hospital makes me feel like my dog is always in the best hands. Anytime I have a question they answer promptly and go above and beyond to make sure me and the doctor are on the same page before any procedures or billing. Their desk staff and tech staff are great, and last time I went there they even came out personally to bring me some cleaning supplies because my pup had barfed all over the car while we were on the phone. The doctor made me feel especially calm after I was real nervous about what could have been going on with my dog. They really respect social distancing too and I’m so glad I found a great vet! Thanks Bodhi staff :)

I recently switched from Bodhi to a different vet. I’ve been lukewarm on Bodhi for the two years that my dog was a patient of theirs for a few reasons, but kept going because they were extremely close to my home at the time. While the veterinarians and technicians are extremely nice, I had a few unsatisfactory experiences with the front office staff (with scheduling, paperwork, following up, etc.). I also found that they are quite forgetful — I’d bring my dog in to be examined about two or three issues, confirm it with them at the start of the appointment, and then they’d discharge him without addressing one or more of the issues. I’d have to call them back and/or schedule additional follow-ups about the items they forgot. One such battle was getting his Simparica Trio prescription every six months for fleas/ticks/heartworm — always took more back and forth than seemed necessary for a monthly medication that he will take his entire life. We just managed to get it refilled a month or so ago.My dog was just seen by his new vet this week and we discussed his current medications. They remarked that our dog was unprotected for heartworm and roundworm, which was confusing because that’s exactly why we put him on Simparica Trio. It turns out that Bodhi had switched him from Simparica Trio to regular Simparica (fleas and ticks only) without notifying us or giving any sort of explanation. I’m not a veterinary pharmacologist so I didn’t even realize what had happened. Hopefully my dog hasn’t caught anything in the weeks that he’s been improperly medicated, and now I have five months of a medication I’ve paid for and won’t use. It’s a little frustrating to do everything I can to keep him healthy by bringing him to the vet, only to find out that they aren’t really paying attention and I have to second-guess everything they’re doing.

The initial visit was great. Bodhi Vet explained my older rescue dog should be spayed as older female dogs can get infections in their reproductive system that will be fatal. Dr. verbally quoted me $500-$600 for the spaying and another $200 for a tumor removal. When they sent me the quote in writing it came out to over $1600. They did not offer an explanation as to why the pricing was so far off, only that they could remove a diagnostic charge of around $350 that I had asked to be not included in the first place.

My mother and I took our very small 4 month fur baby Sasha to the vet for worms and the normal shots. We had just purchased our spunky baby and thought taking her to see a professional would be appropriate . We had taken another one of our dogs Prince to this vet previously and felt comfortable that Sasha would get the same care. The first visit for Sasha was ok. She was given meds to help with the worms and her first set of shots..... the 2nd time around was Horrible! Which ultimately ended our Sashas life. You take your dog to the vet to get care. We had no idea that her receiving her second dose and another set of worm meds would put her in such devastating turn. After her parvo shot along with all the other immunization shots she received this day our puppy died of distemper. We believe the amount of drugs given to Sasha, along with her being so young so small and her immune system already being compromised, her receiving the parvo shot, set her up for the worst. My family still copes with the loss of our smallest baby.To anyone taking their furbaby to a vet DO NOT let them give your baby all these shots all at once. They should be broken up and not given all at once. WE learned the hard way and we will never forget and we will always love our baby.Hopefully this review does justice to someone who is in a familiar situation. And more justice to our baby Sasha.

I took my senior cat in for a potentially serious issue, scratch that, it is a very serious issue. My cat has been indoor only all his life and does not interact with other cats other than his housemate, who is also indoor only (and healthy). Well, it’s been about a week and my cat now has a raging upper respiratory infection on top of the original issue. To no one’s surprise, my other cat now has an upper respiratory infection as well. So I went there for a consult and left with an URI. Definitely will never return or refer.Response to owner: Both my cats were vaccinated a little over a year ago before I moved to San Diego from the East Coast - I believe the records were sent to you. As a former critical care and emergency Vet Tech, I suggest your staff do a better job of disinfecting the exam tables and holding areas. My senior cat has gone to the vet many times and never came home with an upper respiratory infection.

I have tried this vet numerous times. I literally live a half block away. I thought by the cleanliness that they would be a great perk of living in north park.Boy was I wrong. I have never had a positive experience here and the last experience guaranteed that I will avoid this place and not ever suggest anyone I know to go.My bulldog had something wrong with him where he was woozy and going in and out of conciseness. We called immediately and they said “since we close in 30 mins we will not take him in” we explained it was a emergency and we live across the street and they repeated that same thing saying they are closing soon and can’t help.. REALLY?? We rushed him to the next closest vet and unfortunately he didn’t make it and I can’t help but think that when our family really needed Bodhi, they just really wanted to go home and they weren’t there for us.I wish I could take back every penny I ever spent there. I love this vet. I was suggested to it by my boyfriend who took his cat here. They have been so great to my fur baby and I. They did my baby boys PU surgery and have been helping so much with an eye infection. The doctors and staff are always so nice and care greatly about my fur baby. However, I took away a star because of my experience with a receptionist last night. Her name is Christina and she was so rude. She came over while I was texting and had the nerve to knock on my car on the metal... I HATE when people I dont know touch my car... And I opened the door and told her my kitty is on the other side and she asked in a snobby tone if I could grab him and hand him to her. The past few times I have taken him, they have always walked to the other side of my car without me having to get out and walk all the way to the other side to get him. They open the door to get him out. Then when I paid and everything, she took FOREVER to bring my baby boy, whom is always scared of the vet, back to me... She finally came over and I had to get out of my car AGAIN for her to hand my baby boy off to me rather than putting him back in my car like everyone else. When I spoke to the doctor on the phone, I mentioned to him that my two kittens needed to be weighed and he said someone would bring out a scale. Christina did not come out with a scale at all. She was about to leave for another car to handle when I told her the doctor said someone would be out with a scale and she rudely said she can take them inside to weigh them. So I opened the door they were in and I opened my passenger side to put in my boy and she actually grabbed them out. When she got back, I AGAIN had to get out of my car so she could hand my carrier with my other babies in it. So I had to put them back in my car. This girl is so unbelievably rude. I hope I do not get her to come out to grab my babies ever again.

I brought my 2 month old puppy in to Bodhi 2 days after I adopted her when she suddenly became ill. I was impressed with the level of professionalism, skill and care from the beginning...the front desk staff, the techs and Dr Tracey Hayes. Communication was great, including listening to and understanding my needs. Tests were done quickly, the results, with a very serious diagnosis, were explained clearly, and treatment options were laid out clearly. Because my puppy needed overnight hospitalization, which is not offered at Bodhi, I was referred to a 24 hour hospital for the overnight and Dr. Hayes coordinated with the doctor at that hospital. I am now having outpatient care for my puppy managed by Bodhi. The physical facility is immaculate, spacious and quiet.Based on my experience, I would recommend Bodhi Animal Hospital without reservation. Put it this way, if my childrens families lived in San Diego, this is where I would suggest they take their pets.

I will NEVER return. I brought my 3 week old kitten to Bodhi and the first visit was okay but there were signs of disorganization. They said they would email us all the information and never did. They said they gave him flea medicine and later found out he never received it. We chalked it up to a simple mistake but then it continued. Every time we went they scheduled us months out and then charged us for more vaccines because we didn’t come soon enough. They tried to administer blood work and test multiple times for a gain in profit. Luckily we were aware of which tests he had revived but the doctor wasn’t? No one ever have us straight answers when we asked about costs and the costs were and are outrageous. Felt like they were scamming us and not even sure he got the tests they said he did behind closed doors. They said that our indoor cat would need multiple rabies vaccines and redo other vaccines he had already gotten.

Brought my pup to get checked up, he had tons of problems that required medicine and attention. Initially I thought it was the most ideal option to keep attending but when I found out that a bunch of medicine that was prescribed to him did not work, I came back and was literally told we can try another series of antibiotics because they do not know what will work on my pup to help. I told her that I do not want to keep putting my dogs liver through so much since he’s only a few months old, she literally said, dogs do not have livers and the antibiotics get filter through different organs than humans. I made it a point to drop them like a bad habit, chose another vet; the other vet asked me why my pup was on the antibiotics originally because it did nothing, I just said that’s what Bodhi suggested. This entire time it was his diet. Thanks Bodhi for making us waste time, money not knowing dogs have livers.

Bodhi is not my regular vet but when my dog was bit on the stomach by another dog, they were the closest animal hospital. The circumstances were unusual to begin with because of COVID regulations but the women at reception were extremely kind and got me taken care of very quickly. I took my dog back to the vet to have a look at the wound and felt that the vet was a bit dismissive of my concerns. Ill admit that I was feeling stressed out and emotional, so I didnt think much of it. I left my dog with them and they got him stitched up and sent home with orders to return in 2 weeks to have the stitches removed. This is where my experience went south. My dog is not an ideal dog at the vet. He has extreme anxiety for which we tried to give him medication in advance of his appointment. Again, due to COVID, circumstances were such that I was to wait in my car while they examined the stitches. Not 5 minutes later the tech returned with my dog saying the vet couldnt even get close enough to look at the wound. I easily picked up my dog and flipped him over to show the tech the wound. She suggested I take pictures and email them to the vet for review. Why the vet couldnt come out to the parking lot to see for herself, I am unsure, as we did have a scheduled appointment. I was assured that the stitches would dissolve on their own. I followed the instructions, took pictures, and emailed them to the address on their site. I called 2 days later to follow up and they asked me to send them again to a different email address, which I did. I never heard back from the vet after that. My fiance ended up removing the stitches after some time when they didnt show any sign of dissolving on their own.All said, my interactions with the technicians and those at the front desk were pleasant and the wound did heal nicely. However, while I understand this is an unusual time, I was truly disappointed and underwhelmed by the lack of care or follow up from the vet.

Im a senior on SSDI and was at first upset when I took my 12 yr old terminal Border Collie in to be put to rest, and was charged $450.00 for an End of life assessment. After consulting with at least 5 Vets and nurses that evening, at times many of them in the room at the same time, I opted to put my pup on pain medication and allow him to enjoy 3 more months of life with 24/7 tolerable pain management. I wrote 3 or 4 emails to Dr. Tyler over those three months, and was always replied to with a direct phone call from her with very detailed responses to everything that concerned me at the time. My phone calls instantly got me the help I was needing at the time, and I never once had to wait for a prescription refill. By the end of it all, that $450.00 was a fraction of the amount one would expect to pay for all of the non-appointment help we got. To say it was a bargain is an understatement... As for my pup, I am unimaginably grateful that we were able to have tons of cherished quality time together during those extra 3 months until his clock ran out. When I took my best friend in for his final vet appointment, the nurse actually met us at the door and navigated us immediately to where we needed to go, avoiding any waiting room experience. The amount of caring and compassion that came from each nurse and Dr Tyler is more than I can put into words. Each step of our goodbye was explained fully and it all went very smoothly and he passed on happy and peacefully. You would almost be suspicious of their huge amount of caring, understanding, and compassion, but you cant because these people sincerely love animals. Its not just a 9-5 for any of them, and each person that handled my boy treated him as though it were their own pet and best friend.

EDIT: I changed this from a 5 to a 3. I dropped my cat off for a neuter today that I have been under the impression I already paid for because Im paying $144 more on his vet plan to have added the neuter, only to have them bring me a checklist of the $133 of items not included - which mistakenly included the $16 cone for post-op. I double-checked the plan I signed up for and saw the cone was included, so when I got home I called them to complain. So they took off the cone and then I asked more questions, because I signed a whole bunch of paperwork about my pets potential death and it was freaking me out. When the tech came to my car for the added costs, she asked if I wanted to add the anti-nausea meds, but didnt tell me that theres potential for the cat to vomit under anesthesia and die - seriously, disclose the purpose of the medication and why I may need it, Im not a vet and need to make informed decisions regarding my beloved pet. Anyway, when I called they said they give the pet the anti-nausea medication anyway and then bill you for it. They also give you pain meds anyway and bill you for it. If youre going to give both the pain meds and the anti-nausea meds anyway, then inflate the cost of your vet plan to include those, rather than surprising me with a bill of $101 that I didnt budget for because I was already under the impression that what was needed was covered. That just lacked so much integrity. Now to add another recent thing, in my first review, I mentioned the baby kitten that died and I had cremated with them. I wanted to name the kitten just as a sign of respect, so I gave him/her the name Kicsi (little in Hungarian). Lo and behold they add the dead kitten to a mailing list, and I was receiving wellness reminders for a dead baby kitten that traumatized me. I cant imagine the lack of consideration if you took a lifelong family pet to be euthanized, only to receive a notification from the vet that was there with you to bring in your deceased best friend for a wellness check - I know its not but it feels like a cruel joke.I think this is a great vet clinic. I have been taking my cats there for about a year. I started going there when my cats were about 4 weeks old, and one of my kittens I was worried was acting lethargic and maybe had a parasite. After being declined by the first clinic I called, Bodhi was able to see them same day for emergency check-up, and they even let me bring her sibling for moral support. A few months later the same kitten was teething, but I didnt know and it sounded like she was choking (clicking teeth and coughing) - they also took her in as an emergency and everything was ok. Now my kitten had 2 kittens, and one of them was a faded kitten and died shortly after being born. I could not just throw the baby in the garbage, so I called the vet and they were able to help me with cremating the dead baby kitten same day, even gave me a comfort room to say goodbye. I havent had many issues with them, although my cat wouldnt have gotten pregnant if spays & neuters were considered essential during the COVID shutdown as I had tried to get a neuter for my male cat before the female went into heat, but those services were closed. I am definitely traumatized from the death of the baby kitten and keep checking on the one that lived to make sure it doesnt happen again. I am moving to Utah in a month and have recently rescued a 3rd kitten (feral) that I will start on a vet plan there, and after reading reviews of clinics in Utah, I will definitely miss Bodhis willingness to see last minute, same-day emergencies.

I’ve been a pet owner for 30 years and have never had such a terrible encounter with a vets office. They get 1 star, because 0 isn’t an option.Bodhi is hands down the worst veterinary clinic I’ve ever been too. Be sure to filter their reviews because since the new ownership they’re no longer a 4.5 star establishment.I wouldn’t recommend anyone take their animals here. The new staff is TERRIBLE, phones lines are always jammed, takes over 5 days to hear back on prescription which they charge twice the price for as other clinics. They recommended unnecessary treatments for my animal, and REALLY PUSH food trials.I brought my dog in for an emergency and they came out two hours later to discuss, “treatment options”. He ran into a cactus - seemed straight forward. Sedate him, and take the needles out.Was totally surprised to learn my dog (who was in immense pain) had just been thrown into a crate for the two hours without any type of “emergency” action being taken. This clinic cares 10% about your pets wellbeing and 90% about the establishment as a business model. The goal is not to walk out healed, but to be sure you walk out at the highest price point possible.

I was with the vets here back when they were a little place up the street - Pacific Veterinary. We left town for a few years and came back to a whole new Pacific, its now Bodhi. 1st, getting our records transferred required 4 phone calls, our Miami vet said that Bodhi would not return calls. We chalked that up to new location jitters. The new facility is gorgeous and the desk staff is very friendly. But thats where the positive ends - we brought a cat in with severely injured paws, my husband asked the vet to clean thoroughly and then we would disinfect every day till it healed. When they were done the cats paws were still full of debris and dirt and bleeding everywhere. They then tried to charge us for the not-completed cleaning - and make us feel bad for the cat getting injured in the 1st place. Every time Ive brought my dog in, I feel up-sold, as in if you dont vaccinate your dog for everything under the sun, you must be an irresponsible pet owner. Not to mention that Bodhi is significantly more expensive than any other vet Ive been to. I stayed loyal for a little while because the staff from Pacific Vet had been so wonderful, but the upgraded facilities have come at a price - both in service cost to me and staff customer skills.Im done & moving on.

Unfortunately there are very real reasons this clinic’s reviews are consistently low across Google, Yelp, etc. After several attempts at trying to contact a veterinarian at Bohdi, the staff consistently refused to let me speak to anyone. Long story story; I created an appointment, arrived early, and had several witnesses that could confirm I was indeed there on time. The number I was provided went to voicemail, and then I was called 15 mins later saying my appointment was cancelled due to me not arriving on time despite at least two employees seeing me at my scheduled time. This was a Friday, so I took off work and ensured I was there early. The employee who cancelled me was extremely rude, to the point of being emotional and calling me a liar. She either refused to notify the DVM of the situation or the DVM didn’t care enough to follow up. I pulled dogs’ records that day.Additionally, during routine exams on prior visits the veterinarian did not conduct even basic procedures such as feeling the dog. This, along with a generally disinterested attitude should have been indicative of a larger issue going on within Bohdi.

I suspected the fox tail was stuck inside of his paw because it had caused painful swelling. The doctor had him for about an hour before releasing him back to me and said he did not find a foxtail and just cleaned up all the bacteria thru an incision. The following days his paw only worsen and he was in a lot of pain. I took matters into my own hands and gently had to dig into the infected area... and well behold I FOUND THE FOX TAIL!!!! Now could someone please explain to me why I was charged for foreign body removal? Nothing was ever removed except $300 from my bank account. My pup had to go thru a lot of suffering and I am shocked at how this doctor could of missed it!!! Even though weve moved further north, we will continue to make the drive. The clinic has state of the art equipment and everyone there seems to love animals. They take excellent care of our rescue dogs!I just recently moved back to Washington State several months after the above review. I just loved our vet, Heather Powers, and Im sorry I will no longer be able to take my dogs to her. Shes the best! And I also cant say enough good things about the hospital in general!

A little disappointed with the clinic. Called to get my dogs normal refill and they have completely changed their program. Patients are no longer able to get rx through the clinic . They refer you to a 3rd party or they can give you a hard copy of an rx to go and fill somewhere else . You are able to pick up a hard copy or get it emailed. I cant pick up the actual rx but I can pick up a hard copy to get refilled else where[ I dont see the logic behind that] . This is due to covid 19. It would have been nice to have some type of email of some sort sent out to patients. Instead I sat on the phone for 15minutes just to be left confused.

New dog owner here. Is it normal when you have an issue and get surgery done but the issue still exists 2 weeks later, you still have to pay for a new consultation and surgery as if it is a separate transaction? Any advice appreciated. I just think its an odd way of doing business considering I dont get paid on my services as a loan officer until the transaction funds. Any advice or if someone knows of a clinic that would treat it as the same transaction let me know.

After taking my cat for a surgery with DrHayes, who had done an exceptional job helping my pet, I returned back for a similar issue with my cat. Unfortunately, Dr. Hayes was not available that day, 04/16/20, so I was scheduled with a different doctor, Dr. Powers.Right off the bat, Dr. Powers did not focus on the main issue - which is my cat eating terrible for him objects, and insisted on getting my cat anti-diarrheals. Since I did not get an answer to my question, I have requested an xray, after which my estimate was $471, including a quote from a radiologist. After the xray, Dr. Powers called me with her opinion on the xray, letting me know I need to come back (and pay) for extra xrays, without having a radiologist taking a look at it first, a service I paid for.The next day I get a call saying that they have no idea what is wrong with my cat, but according to Dr. Powers, it is fine as long as he doesnt get worse, because only then will they take care of him (a stat ultrasound and a surgery if he feels worse). After having such an amazing help from Dr. Hayes, I did not expext to get absolutely no help from Bodhi Animal (aside from anti diarrheal meds for a cat whos smaller intestine is swollen and who obviously has objects in his stomach - but what do I know, Im just an owner who lives with my cat ).Aside from getting poor service, I noticed that the prices has gone up quite significantly, especially in the times where majority of people have lost their jobs or got pay cuts.So not only did the vet did this -> 🤷‍♀️, but they also got paid almost 500 dollars to do so.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would but unfortunately I have to give 1 star to write a review. My girlfriend took our cat in as he was very lethargic and having trouble breathing (and bladder/bowel issues). The veterinarian who first spoke to her asked her in a demeaning and extremely unprofessional way (caps for emphasis on how it was said) WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR CAT? in an accusatory way, and made her cry immediately. She only went there because it was a Sunday and it was the closest vet emergency room. The way she was treated was absolutely non-professional, and I would strongly suggest that if you want your sick animal to live (and be treated with respect), do not take your loved pets to Bodhi Animal Hospital. My girlfriend now blames herself for the death of her cat because of the accusatory statements, even though she was the best owner and loved her cat more than anything in the world (except me, hopefully). I am now going to be consoling her for a long period of time because she was led to believe it was her fault (after calling them, the cause of death was an aggregation of crystals in the his urinary tract, causing potassium excess causing liver toxicity leading to organ failure). I cannot believe this behavior is allowed at any hospital, where the doctors and clinicians know that the ones bringing in the sick and dying animals are at their most vulnerable emotionally. Any medical professional (vets included) with any shred of decency would not have placed blame on the owner when the cause of death was incurable and not due to any negligence by the owner. I am sickened, and implore anyone reading this take your pets elsewhere if you want to be treated with dignity and not accused of killing your much loved pet.

Beyond frustrated with my experiences here. First of all, 9 out of 10 times when you call youre greeted with theres 1-2 other people ahead of you is this an emergency or can you hold? I was sitting right in front of the reception desk and heard whoever answered the phone say that while doing literally nothing and with no one on the other line. I dont know if thats a tactic to make people perceive high demand or what.I brought my dog in for what I thought was a UTI. The vet that met with me had this robotic, condescending tone in his voice. He mentioned it sounded like it could be diabetes and recommended the most expensive option for blood work rather than one specifically for diabetes. Since the symptoms were mild I only had a urinalysis done as I was not ready to fork over $500 for something that didnt seem necessary at the time. I was given a call back with the results that didnt clear anything up, left with lots of maybes. I requested the urinalysis to be emailed to me to have a closer look.I called back with questions of some of the findings and was told I dont know, I can TRY to email the lab who did it and see if they can further explain it and hopefully we should hear back by sometime next week. Are you joking me? Youre the vet and you dont know how to read a urinalysis?I later called to get an estimate of blood work done specifically to test for diabetes and was emailed a test I hadnt heard of. I called back to confirm that this test would give me a Yes or No answer to diabetes and was told again, I dont know, Ill have to get back to you.I ended up taking him to the VCA Emergency Hospital and had results almost immediately. If time is of the essence, good luck. I will never be returning to Bodhi.

I had a very simple rabies titer done, and she made it into something bigger than it really was. 6/1/21: Final edit. STAY AWAY from this place if you want good service and to not be ripped off. Scheduled an examination for teeth cleaning to see how much it would cost. The Dr never once touched on how much teeth cleaning would cost and instead chose to tell us that one of our dog’s teeth needed to be extracted, mind you, a year after they said the tooth was fine. Why are they just NOW saying this needed to be done, a year after his accident and not immediately after it happened? $$$ money-hungry and inept staff. We again had to BEG for our dog’s prescription after they refused to accept Chewy’s request for approval a month ago. Again, they want your money, not your loyalty. Now all of a sudden you have to PHYSICALLY GO and get the prescription. I spoke with Marina today and asked for it to be mailed. We’ll see if the request is done. Don’t waste your time with this incompetent, disorganized staff.3/12/20: Out of desperation and not being able to find another vet we have continued to come to Bodhi. As my previous review states, the doctors are wonderful. The staff, again, is either overworked, they simply do not care, or both. We took our pup for a heart worm test on 2/29. That took maybe fifteen minutes, we were so happy. We asked for a prescription refill. We waited about twenty minutes and nothing. Ten minutes later someone tells us the doctor is too busy and cannot sign the prescription. We say its ok and if it can be mailed to our address. Person at the front desk says they cant. I asked for it to be emailed. They never did. The pup had an ear infection and again we go to bodhi on 3/6. Again the refill is asked for and it is not given to us. I call to see what is going on on 3/8 and they act as if they’ve done nothing wrong. I ask for the prescription to be mailed. They say yes (So why couldn’t they do it on 2/29?) Fast forward to today where we still don’t have the prescription with the wet signature. According to their “notes” the prescription was mailed on the sixth. With their history of not doing what is requested from them I doubt they’ll ever send us anything. I’m not sure if they do this on purpose so you have to buy from their pharmacy.TLDR; Doctors are good, staff are not. If you want to give your money to people who frequently mess up, don’t bother to follow up with requests, and pretend they’ve done nothing wrong then this is perfect for you. Dropping from two stars to one.—Oct 16/19 Doctors that have seen our fur baby have been very polite, caring, and friendly. The staff not so much. I called in for a prescription refill and apparently they had recommended our pup get some type of exam. They allegedly called and left a message. We never got one. I call to confirm which number(s) they had on file and I was treated as if I was someone calling from the looney bin. They never called when the prescription was ready to be picked up. When I called to confirm it was ready, again they said they left a message- my partner and I never received one at all. But they’re set their “notes” are correct.

The lady at the front desk was helpful but upon speaking to someone in the back, we were turned away without triage and told there was no time. We were directed to take him to another place as they did not have time to check him out. Only one other person in the lobby at the time. Upon arrival 20 minutes later at our second location (2 hours after trying to get him to care), our cat was unable to stand and was in critical condition. Un Ojo would not return to our house that night. At this point, his condition was so critical that our only humane option was to put him to sleep. It was a terrible night.I don’t know what would have changed that night if someone at Bodhi would have at least triaged Un Ojo instead of turning us away but they did not. First visit we saw Dr. Carol Gabrielson, it was not pleasant for me. First Id like to start by giving the practice some credit because I am an extremely overprotective pet mother to my extremely annoying crybaby 2 year old German Shepherd. He has a very loud ear piercing cry that echoes in the room, he cries until the vet gets in to pay him attention. However, Dr. Gabrielson and her room assistant were visibly irritated and annoyed by my dogs anxiety and his playful nature when having his body examined which really gave off negative vibes that both myself and my dog picked up on. Due to this my dog continued to exhibit anxious behavior and continued to cry. While I know that my dog is a pain, I did not appreciate the way the vet and staff reacted to him. Our second visit we saw Dr. Tracey Hayes, she is fantastic! I loved her and I think my dog loved her even more. He was so comfortable with her and her assistant that he did not cry once when they entered the room. She fed him treats and gave him affection which really goes a long way with myself and my dog. She was very understanding of my dog being uncomfortable with his ears and teeth being examined, however, my dog actually seemed relatively comfortable allowing her to examine him. He was so relaxed he lounged around in the room the whole time we could hardly get him to stand up (which is a good thing, usually he is all over the place trying to investigate the counter tops and sneak out the doors). I would highly recommend her. Even given our first experience here, this practice was 100% better than North Park pet hospital where they are aggressive and inattentive. I would definitely recommend this practice as a whole to any San Diego residents looking for a new vet.

This was my dog and cats vet until the experience I had last night. I woke up yesterday morning and took my dog out. He had very loose stool. This wasnt really alarming at first because he is a lab and thats what labs do, they get into random stuff and have diarrhea. I left for work around 9am got home about 4pm. He had vomited and pooped all over his crate. I gave him a bath and tried to give him food and water. He refused the food but drank all the water. Again my dog is a lab, it is very unusual for them to not have an appetite. After drinking he almost immediately vomited. I took him outside and he had more loose stool and completely liquid stool spraying out. His rectum was bleeding. He puked again and I brought him to Bodhi as a walk in. I brought in a fecal sample and they asked me to take a seat and wait. After about an hour of waiting my dog threw up again all over the lobby. None of the staff even acknowledged it. I got up to ask for towels and someone else waiting told me they would go ask so my dog didnt have to move when she went up there they told her they would clean it up. They then moved me into a room and left me there for another hour. Its about 8 pm at night, my dog has had violent diarrhea and vomiting all day. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to know hes dehydrated. Hook him up to an IV. At no point during my 2 hour wait, even after my dog throws up all over their lobby do I get any type of acknowledgement beyond checking in. No one tells me how long Ill be waiting. No one assure me his situation isnt urgent (most likely because I was never asked to explain what was going on with him aside from the brief convo I had with the receptionist prior to arrival), a vet tech doesnt come and weigh him, take his temperature, check his stomach for bloating, check the color of his gums, look at his back end for blood even though I had noted to the staff upon arrival that he was bleeding from his rectum. A quick assessment that was just described could literally be done in a matter of minutes. After waiting 2 hours I ask for a time frame of how long my wait will be and am told they are really behind, there is no time frame and its not urgent because your dog is stable. This is the first Ive heard that hes stable. Hes bleeding from his rectum and vomited all over your lobby floor...sounds super stable. Im also curious as to what exactly that qualifies as urgent? Who accesses the urgency? No vet tech, doctor, or receptionist even looked at him to determine if it was urgent or not. By the way if you check their website they have a list of emergency/critical symptoms my dog had 9 of those symptoms. I work in healthcare. I understand it is hectic and stressful and that patients need to have patience, but it wasnt about the wait, it was the level of care/concern I received from the staff. I couldnt continue to wait somewhere that didnt care about my dogs condition so I left and sought treatment elsewhere. Immediately upon leaving my dog throws up again all over the parking lot. I cleaned it up and brought it back in to be disposed of since there are no trashcans in the parking lot. This was of no alarm to the staff and they were happy to send me on my way.

It wasnt until I did some comparison shopping today that I found just how much higher their prices are!I have 3 foster puppies to have vaccinated. I called Bodhi first and it would cost (in total) $375. I called other reputable vets to compare fees and found that other clinics run about $175! A $200 difference is outrageous!Part of the price difference can be explained by the fact that Bodhi requires a $48 exam fee for each puppy at the time of vaccination, even though I took them to Bodhi 4 weeks ago for an exam and the vet declared them healthy.

The cat died two days later. We depend on professional staff to tell us at times like this to do no harm and this is what you can do to keep him as hydrated as possible. I feel they missed the mark on this one and gave us products this older cat did not need.
