I personally had a really good experience here. I was referred by my doctor due to my twin pregnancy and I found the women in the office really kind and sweet. My nurse tech was a twin mom so she was a doll to have. I hope she continues on throughout my visits with me. She gave me lots of pictures of the babies and explained everything as she went along. I felt she shared my excitement. Which is nice to have especially since my husband cant be with me.Dr. Anh was also very sweet and comforting. Its a bit out of the way & confusing to get to which is my only con, if you will, but the visits are doctor ordered. So far so good ☺️

Im one week post partum so please ignore the typos Im sleep deprived.I keep thinking that I need to warn people about this place we just havent had a second. I have Crohns disease so Im considered high-risk the highest risk is that my baby will be born SGA or small for gestational age, 10th percentile or less. I came for ultrasounds and continued to see my regular OB as well. The only reason why I am giving this place two stars is because Dr. Burgerren is awesome and The Ultrasound tech is really sweet. Those are the only good things about this place. To his defense I never met Dr. Dowling.I met with Dr. Ahn Multiple times whos always in a rush never sat down to talk to me and spent no more than 30 seconds in the room. She must have 100 patients on her schedule to treat people like that. Im am a nurse practitioner I work in the medical field I would never stand during my patient visit. If I ever had even one questions for her about my crohns she would act very put out. I was there for follow up for my Crohns. Here is a big RED flag with Dr. Ahn she dismissed me from the practice at 34 weeks because she said my baby was measuring 32nd percentile and that had not changed. From my own research I knew that if your baby was going to be SGA from Crohns it would happen in the third trimester which is about when she dumped me from her practice. My baby was born at 39+5 she weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces. She was 6th percentile very SGA.My worst experience at this place was not even with doctor Ahn it was with Dr. Gollin. She told me my baby was extremely small at my first ultrasound and that this would be an issue and then left the room to see another patient did not answer a single question. This is my first baby. I was in shock I called the office the next day balling asking if I could speak with her to ask a few questions. OR if I could talk to another doctor. The front desk said no one could talk to me but that she would call me in one WEEK. When I did talk to her a week later she was extremely rude on the phone and said that I only had a five minute appointment with her and I was demanding a 40 minute appointment which my insurance needed to approve before shed speak to me. She said if I want to ask her questions I would need to talk to my insurance to get a 40 minute appointment. I asked if she knew how I could do that she said no. She is a terrible person and should retire from the practice of medicine. Also Dr.Burggen her colleague said Dr. Gollin was wrong to tell me that my baby was that small that really on it was only my first ultrasound and she said if the baby was measuring 1 mm off we would have false results.Ladies stay away from this place if you want to have a healthy baby they basically just want to make money and run as many patients through as they can. They provide negligent care and I do think I have a lawsuit if I wanted to.

I found Dr Ahn non-informative and condescending during all three sessions I had with her after my prenatal ultrasounds. She also refused to answer a follow-up question by phone and her staff referred me back to my primary OB to look at her report. My final visit with this group revealed a misdiagnosis by Dr Ahn, she based her conclusion on the wrong views of the ultrasound per another provider Dr Gollin. I recommend requesting other providers from this group if you get referred to Specialty Obstetrics of San Diego.

I had an appointment today. And literally everyone from the receptionist, to the ultrasound woman, to the doctor was absolutely AMAZING! My husband and I had such a wonderful, relaxing, informative time! It was the best ultrasound appointment EVER!! and I have 4 kids( not including this one). I know its a specialty place, best for sure best of the best.

My entire experience at this office was absolutely amazing. Dr. Gollin and Kasey were kind compassionate personable and had such positive energy. They both were so happy and really made our already scary experience seeing a specialist much better. I would recommend this office to anyone! It was fantastic. Very beautiful and clean and calming on the inside and the staff went above and beyond

Absolutely awful experience. Waited in the lounge for an hour (after a scheduled appointment) and then the consultation was for only 15 minutes. We received a giant bill and their administrator, Carmen, was one of the least helpful individuals Ive ever spoken to. Would not provide any type of financial assistance or even offer a payment plan. She told me to pay the bill immediately or she was going to send it straight to collections. Avoid at all costs.

My husband and I were referred here for an anatomy ultrasound by our OB at 33 weeks pregnant, as I had been measuring small for a while and our Dr. wanted to check in on our little girl and make sure she was growing sufficiently. My parents happened to be visiting from out of state and I asked if they could join me for the ultrasound (as they have not been able to witness much of the pregnancy). Sue, the ultrasound tech specialist was SO GREAT! She allowed us ALL in the room (not even annoyed by us) and methodically and thoroughly went through the anatomy scan with us. She explained what we were looking at (heart valves, kidneys, etc) answered questions, and even commented on how sweet our little girl looked. :) The icing on the cake was finding out that our baby girl was above average for height (87th percentile) and average for weight (47th percentile). What a fantastic experience! A huge thank you to Sue and the S.O. Office and we highly recommend them! :)

FIND A DIFFERENT PRACTICE. One that invests in their patients and genuinely cares- Specialty Obstetrics doesn’t.-unnecessary testing to bill insurance-terrible at returning phone calls “doctor will call you” translates to “call us back tomorrow”-no lab in house; if you need to give urine or blood samples on a regular basis you need to to go a testing facility such as, Quest, which is a pain-rarely see the doctors; majority of my visits I saw the nurse practitioner.-billed my insurance the wrong test code, wouldn’t help me resolve it, ended up costing me $400+ for something that otherwise would have been covered

Had three ultrasounds with this office (anatomy, nuchal, and echo). Father of the baby was in Germany during all three and they would not let me FaceTime him in on the last appointment despite letting me do so the first two times. He just wanted to see his baby, the staff were quite insensitive, rude and lacked compassion.

Dr Duerbeck delivered my first baby in July of 2012. My husband and I loved him. He truly is the best!!! Whenever I called with questions, they were quick to answer or for me in their schedule to be seen and make sure everything was ok. I did received a lot of ultra sounds which honestly I was so happy about. I wish every Practice was like that. I delivered by c-section. He always joked which always relaxed me and made me feel comfortable. So when he told me I was getting the Hollywood cut, I just thought he was joking. He wasn’t kidding. It healed in the most perfect way. The scar is now completely unnoticeable. No mom pouch. Fast forward 5 years, we moved to Dallas, TX. I’m not going to lie. My entire pregnancy I wished I was in San Diego to have Dr Duerbeck deliver my next baby. My new scar is nothing like Dr Duerbeck’s. It’s choppy, uneven, too high and I now have a pouch. If you are considering going to this practice, TRUST ME you can’t go wrong. They are amazing!!! Dr Dowling is also amazing! Gosh I miss them! Thank you Dr Duerbeck for the most amazing care.

I have been to this place before and I liked it. Never had a problem. I went there when I was pregnant with my twins in 2017. Everything was great. I am now pregnant with my 5th child and my dr referred me here again. I had an appointment set up at least 2 weeks, if not longer, in advance. Someone from the office called me 2 days ago to let me know that I had an outstanding balance of a couple thousand dollars so they couldnt see me unless I called collections and took care of it. I was completely unaware of this balance. I know i was in the middle of switching insurances when i was seeing this place but i thought one of them covered the costs. I had not heard anything about this until now. Anyways, being the good person i am, i called collections today, I set up a payment plan even though i am now a seperated mother of 4 almost 5 making minum wage and not receiving child support and cannot afford another payment. After I got off of the phone with collections, I called Specialty Obstetrics and told them i set up the payment plan. The girl was nice to me and said ok to keeping my appointment. About 15 mins later, I get a phone call from their collections agency and they told me that the manager at Specialty Obstetrics called them to have them call me and tell me that they were not going to keep my appointment or see me at all unless I paid the balance in full or at least half. How is anyone in anyone, unless you happen to have a few thousand dollars and no kids to care for, suppose to do that? Not to mention how unprofessional is it for a place of business to contact someone else to have them tell me that they refuse to see me? And then my Drs office told me that the manager from Specialty was also telling them unnecessary things about my account balance with them when all she had to do was keep it short and to the point... Long story short, it seems like someone in the office, whether it is the manager or someone else, is very unprofessional and should not be in the line of work she is in. I have never experienced anything like this from a place of business before. I find the situation very catty also.

I am reviewing this OBGYN after seeing them every two weeks for nine months. I was referred to them by my fertility OBGYN based on the fact that I have a bicornuate uterus. I was very pleased with my care and my daughter was born January 2019, healthy and happy via C-section because of a breech presentation. The front office and back office staff were extremely pleasant and always on top of everything going on. THANK YOU, Bree and Janette. My insurance was always billed correctly and I felt that scheduling was very easy. The ultrasound tech was very sweet and informative. She made me feel extremely comfortable. THANK YOU, Kelsey! The doctors in the office are all delightful! I believe I met with all the doctors in the practice during my nine months. I typically would see Dr. David Dowling and the nurse practitioner, Terra. Both were excellent practitioners who care deeply for each patient. As a nurse, myself, I have extremely high standards for providers and they exceeded all my expectations. I cannot say enough about Dr. Dowling. He is one of the smartest doctors I have ever worked with, as a patient or a provider. My overall experience was very positive. I would refer anyone with a complicated pregnancy to this office. They are a wonderful team and it was a great experience.

Run from this place, I was referred by my OB-Gyn to this place to have an anatomy scan of my baby, the first thing the technician asked me was if I would like to get an amniocentesis done, I did not know why they offered this service before the scan, unless they find something of concern, so I declined, and because I had the NIP done and everything came good, I was not concerned at all. After the scan the Dr walked in and told us that the baby had thick nuchal fold which could be a sign of some kind of syndrome, and told us to get an amniocentesis done, we told her we will think about it, and she repeated more than twice if we understood what she was saying, we left and I sobbed all the way home thinking that something was wrong with my baby, but also had the feeling that they were trying to sell unnecessary services just to milk my insurance. We did not wanted to go back to this place, but we had the doubt if our baby was really ok, so we booked an appointment with another Dr 3 days after, they did not find anything wrong with our baby when they did the anatomy scan, but just to have peace of mind we did the Amniocentesis, which come back with great results. I suffered for 2 long weeks waiting for the results, I had an awful Thanksgiving and cried my heart out because of these guys, please if you are a patient of advanced maternal age, go somewhere else, this place sells unnecessary test, and it’s just horrible to put a pregnant woman through this.Tried to contact the manager of this office twice to address this issue, she never called me back.

The doctors are great, but the staff is rather incompetent. Because of our move we saw 4 different doctors and a regular check up was 4 times as expensive (out-pocket) as all the other offices. Also the office did not report our results of a Group B Strep to the hospital where we delivered so my wife had to undergo another test at the hospital (and we were billed for it). Last but not least, the staff did not mail our medical records even though we filled out a medical release form.

Dr Dowling, Kyra, and team are amazing! Our first child was born with spina bifida and they helped us through every step in the journey. Supportive, provided resources, kept checking up on us mentally not just physically, and referred us to some wonderful doctors around the city. When we got pregnant with our second child the decision to go back was easy! Everyone is lovely and creates such a warm atmosphere. Thanks for everything SO!

I have so much to be thankful to Specialty Obstetrics of San Diego for! Their amazing staff - Kiera and Cindy, Dr. Duerbeck, and Dr. Dowling are awesome. I had to be seen every week to monitor my cerclage and incompetent cervix. After so many miscarriages at other drs offices, Specialty Obstetrics were committed to making this baby happen! I was even in the hospital for two weeks around week 22 and they somehow kept my baby cooking until 40 weeks. My heart was broken in the past with all of my losses and they knew to give me 100%! I can not say enough good things about each Dr. I LOVE THEM!
