We initially brought our 3 year-old son for his dental care and were so impressed with the care and patience that they had with him that my husband and I ended up scheduling appointments for ourselves before we left. Every time that we call or come into the office, we are greeted warmly and made to feel welcome. Everyone that we’ve encountered has been wonderful and so professional, both in the general dentistry and the ortho departments.. All treatment recommendations are explained thoroughly and they don’t try to push unnecessary services. I highly recommend this office to anyone in search of quality dental care.

We had a first appointment for ortho consult for my young adult developmentally disabled daughter who can be quite challenging behaviorally, and from the first moment we stepped foot in the door, it was a positive experience. Everything from the level of respect and care that was obviously informed by disability awareness, to the orthodontist himself who is informed, humble, patient and considerate... just one of the best experiences with a medical provider in my daughters 25 years of life. We are definitely going to PDOS for orthodontia despite it being a 45 minute drive from my home!

We have been taking our 3 kids here for 12 years . Our youngest has extreme anxiety so at times he just doesn’t fill like going or staying. They accommodated us today to a private room where I could also sit next to him. The Dental team there is always friendly and professional. The Dentists provide excellent care and do excellent work. They repaired my sons front teeth when he chipped them and you cant tell that he did. My son has been going there for 12 years, I drive him there from Santee! They talk to you about treatment, do only work that is necessary, very ethical.

My son had his 2nd teeth extractions today and braces put on. When we went in, we had temperature taken and asked Covid-19 questions. Signed off on the Covid-19 form and everything was explained to me step by step for the visit. Someone came out to my car and gave me an update and they gave me opportunity to ask questions. Payment was quick and easy. At the end of the visit, staff walked my son out and reiterated everything that was done and provided instructions on care of extractions & braces. My son had a good experience, thank you!

Seems up to par with COVID screening and protection

Today I had a broken tooth and even though I did not have an appointment I was able to see a dentist within an hour of calling. They were fantastic.

Excellent! My 8 year old had a couple of bad experiences so I switched to PDO. From the time we walked through the door we felt and saw a difference in service, quality and care. They went over and beyond to ensure my son understood and felt comfortable during his visit. The out of pocket cost was reasonable and the quality of care and facilities was exceptional. Clean, well maintained sitting area and video games for the kids.

After a less than desirable orthodontic consultation with a local doctor, I decided to search for another doctor who uses the Damon braces. I am SO happy I found Dr. Thurston! From the minute he walked into the room he made my son and I feel comfortable. Dr. Thurston performed a thorough exam on my sons teeth and discussed, at length, why my son needs braces. Dr. Thurston spent almost an hour on our consultation and really listened to and addressed my concerns. When we are ready to pursue orthodontic treatment we will DEFINITELY be coming back to see Dr. Thurston!

This place is amazing. They have made my teeth straighter obviously but they have also helped me gain self confidence. All the staff are amazing people and are all really sweet. I would really recommend this place.

The staff was so nice and D was amazing. My 2.5 year old was really anxious and she made her visit as enjoyable as possible.UPDATE* The staff is great and facilities are very kid friendly. Unfortunately, my older daughter 5 just had a very traumatic visit so we will be looking for another dentist going forward. If you have a kid with no dental issues/cavities its a great place but when they need painful work done the Drs. push the kids much further than they should in a single visit. Very disappointed.FINAL UPDATE* The staff was very helpful in transitioning our plan of care and following up after our final visit. I think this is a practice full of people that are doing there best for the kids but it just wasnt a fit for my daughter. We even received a call from Mary asking about the visit and she was very kind and understanding. She even recommended some other pediatric dentists that do allow parents to be in all parts of the office (something that actually really benefited my daughter) as this practice has a no parents policy in the back of the office.

What an awesome pediatrics dentist office. Everyone is super nice and they have just been the best with my son. He had a hard time when we first started going but everyone was patient with him and now he loves to go and get his shiny smile.

The entire staff is so friendly and patient. They make the waiting area comfortable for parents and have video games so siblings to have something fun to keep them entertained. They take the time to communicate at a level that children understand while providing more detailed information for parents. I cant say enough wonderful things about this office. Dr. Lam and the hygienist are the best!

My daughter had a lot of anxiety about having crowns placed on all four molars. Her teeth have extreme sensitivity. Her regular dentist recommended this office due to my daughter not responding well without meds to help alleviate her anxiety. They were very good with her. My son has been a patient here for almost 4 years. He has completed phase 1 of his orthodontic treatment and I cant say enough about what an excellent job the doctors have done. His upper teeth were sticking out really bad and they worked with not only his teeth but also his growing jaw bone to correct his bite and straighten out his teeth. When I saw the before pictures I was so thankful for the beautiful work Dr. Eitzen and Dr. Thurston did in making the correction look so natural! The staff has always been very friendly and professional and the doctors do a great job of connecting with my son. Thank you to the entire staff!!

My kids, husband and I have been using PDO Specialists for over a year and we love it. The team are awesome, especially with my kids. My daughter had a traumatic experience a couple years ago (non-dental) which made her very nervous at the dentist. Both of my kids had their braces treatments at Dr. Thurston and Eitzens office. Their service is impeccable! The patient care is simply off the wall. The staff is awesome and personable. Both doctors and all assistants show genuine interest and care for the patients, and they took great care of my kids through every step of the treatment. This place traumatized me as a child. They have a very, very strict no-parent policy that does NOT work for scared children (like I was). Instead of trying to help me overcome my fear, they threatened to tie my arms down by putting me in a papoose! How was THAT supposed to help me?! I will NEVER take my kids here. No parent should. I would give it zero stars if I could.

We love PDO Specialists and Dr. Christy Lam! My daughters have been seeing Dr. Lam since their very first appointments. She is warm, kind, honest and excellent at what she does. As a mother, and a dentist, myself, I am very particular about who I trust to see my children, and Dr. Lam is incredible. So happy to have my children grow up with her.

All 4 of our children needed braces. Our oldest 2 have beautiful teeth after going thru PDO with braces, bands, and retainers. They only needed one set of braces and didn’t need to remove any teeth. They helped our 3rd child, our daughter with an early set as her jaw was offset sideways. They corrected two problems for her early on with a twin block then braces and now she’s in her second set of braces as all her teeth have come in. Our 4th child needed an expander as his teeth had no room to fall into place. What is so wonderful is that no matter the trouble, they had a solution. After x-rays and measurements, they explained the solution with visuals for what the problem was, and how much the cost. They give discounts for paying in cash and a multi child discount. The staff is friendly and they always work in children with an SOS ASAP and at scheduled appointments the techs have completed the adjustments in 15-30 minutes. If there is any wait for the appointment at all, they have a video game room and coffee for the parents. They just updated their waiting room and have brought in a nice area with bar stool seating with USB outlets to work, a comfy couch and chairs. The location is lovely with a back drop of the lake which we have walked around during appointments or stayed to feed the ducks afterwards. The best thing about PDO is they offer dentistry, as well, with hygienists. We take our children there which is extremely convenient as they remove the wire on the Ortho side then have you go to the dental side for cleaning and back to Ortho to put in a fresh wire. In about an hour, they are done! I’m very happy to report that none of them have a single cavity! Thank you PDO for such wonderful service! We were referred to you by several local friends and are thrilled with your service!

Kid tested, parent approved! Doctors, Mike Amodeo and Chris Eitzen are both very well suited for working with kids. They each have a unique ability to relate to the children while also laying things out very clearly for the parents. The staff is friendly and genuine and willing to help. The office is clean and comfortable. There are video games and TV for the kids in the waiting room. My kids come home from their visits smiling and energized about taking care of their teeth. Its easy to make an appointment and when you have one it is on time. I would recommend this dentist office every time.

Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontic Specialists were referred to me by a coworker when my first child was five. My family has now been with them for thirteen years through both the Dentistry and Orthodontic practices and I highly recommend them. The doctors and staff are super friendly and very accommodating to school schedules. My two teenage daughters have completed their orthontics and have the most beautiful smiles! My 9 year old son and I (Mom got braces too) are currently in braces. Dr. Thurston is also up-to-date with Orthodontia as it relates to sleep apnea and is working cooperatively with my surgeon as I prepare to undergo jaw surgery to treat sleep apnea. I am fortunate to have found a practice my whole family can feel confident in for life.

Our family is well taken care of by all the of dentists and orthodontists here.

We love both the dental and ortho side of this practice and have been going to them for over 8 years with 3 children. Dr.s Amodeo, Eitzen and Thurston are all professional, personable, and extremely caring. They have never been in a rush to dismiss our concerns or to talk with us on treatment plans, their pricing is competitive to the market, and they have a facility that caters to children. The hygienists are all skilled and so kind. The office embraces community service and giving back to the neighborhoods their clients come from by supporting many school projects like a garden, musical theater, spellathons, etc. They even offer children to work off some of the cost of a replacement retainer by performing community service hours if they have lost their device multiple times. Once, while we were in Albania and had an emergency, Dr.s Eitzen & Dr. Amodeo both replied immediately. I feel this is an outstanding business and others should use it to benchmark their practices for success.

Our first appointment went as usual. Me, my children a 7 and 2 year old were taken to an exam room where Dr Amedeo and his assistant examined the x-rays and we discussed the need for some cavities to be filled for my 7 year old, I informed him that I felt we should start with the adult teeth since the baby ones are likely to fall out and there was no need to put the child through un-needed interventionSecond appointment! I was informed that there was a “NO PARENTS POLICY” I told them that I would not consent to that since he was under 18 and He was extremely afraid and had asked me to be with him. I then asked if every dentist, hygeniest and employee had been background checked for any molestation charges, since they were asking me to leave a 7 year old without any camera’s or parental oversight in a room full of people I didn’t know. They again told me No. I then asked if an adult would be with him for the entire duration of his appointment since he had a history of allergies and I was concerned about him having Nitro/Laughing gas for the first and am aware that sometimes there can be very serious reactions. Again No was the answer. At mention of this, they told me I had to speak with the dentist.Once Dr Amodeo came in I told him that I wanted to be with him during the fillings and reiterated my concerns. He told me that the “no parent policy” was to help the children not be afraid. Since, they are in a room of their peers. He then informed me that he disagreed with my assessment and treatment consent and thus we would have to find a different dentist. I then told him I just wanted to start with the adult teeth and then consider the baby ones. This seemed to compel him to keep the appointment and at least seal one of the molars.A few days after the appointment He then sent me a letter requesting that I find another dentist for my son. Believe me, I was already doing that. I refuse to consent to any “NO PARENT POLICY” . My children are my life and that office is shocking. I can’t believe any parent would allow a small child to undergo dental procedures without them present or at the least on camera. That office is a lawsuit about to happened. But, its not happening to me or my kids.
