Stellar Care is a warm, welcoming, family-oriented residence.  The staff are professional and compassionate,. The very first time my husband, who has Alzheimers, visited the facility, he said I feel comfortable here. I recommend it without reservation.I began my search and search of memory care facilities over a year ago.  From the very first phone call and subsequent visit, the commitment to the social and emotional well-being of the residents and family was palpable.  These are experienced, knowledgeable people.  From the director and senior staff, to the caregivers and other support staff, weve been met by smiles, friendly and easy conversation, understanding, and support.  When the time came for my husband to move-in, everyone was helpful.  While our family prepared his room, we had countless welcomes and offers of help from the senior staff to the maintenance staff, the lady from the laundry, the on-duty caregivers.  During his first weeks there, the staff monitored him closely and provided regular and re-assuring updates to our family.  They could not have been more accommodating.   This caring environment is clearly inspired and encouraged from the directors.  The structured environment is designed for persons with dementia. The variety of activities and opportunity for socialization are many.  The patios and common areas are immaculate, comfortable and inviting (and safe).  Each floor has an ample activity room as well as a smaller one where family can visit and enjoy a meal together if its too cold to be outside.  Families are encouraged to visit.  This is indeed a home!

I cannot say enough in praise of this facility. The care given to my mother was professional, respectful and gentle. The facility itself is clean, inviting, quiet and well maintained. Highest praise to the staff and my gratitude for giving my mother a peaceful, dignified end of life.

I cant say enough great things about this place. My mother-in-law lived here because of her dementia and as a result, I spent a great deal of time at Stellar Care, visiting her. They have a very high ratio of caretakers to residents and the caretakers know each resident personally. The place is extremely clean. Im a germaphobe and I can attest to how spotless they keep everything. But by far where they shine is the activities. They have activities going on all the time--physical activities including supervised walks, current events discussions, art therapy, music therapy, crafts, gardening, and games, all of which is important to keep the residents active. They even have field trips which includes picnics, eating in restaurants, sightseeing throughout San Diego, concerts in Balboa Park, Del Mar Fair, and even train trips. We searched for a long time before finding this place and its by far the best memory-care facility in San Diego!

I admitted my Father into their facility thinking he would get stellar care. That was definitely not the case & for the $ I spent he should have had excellent care. Instead he was subjected to a number of horrible situations & terrible care. When he first moved in the cost was over $3000 per month, every year the cost was increased by $1000 per month plus extra charge for furniture. He endured everything from being left totally naked with all his clothes taken while being treated for scabies to lack of hygiene upkeep to being able to interact with other residents due to lack of common areas (all were made into staff areas). Whenever he would have serious health issues they would call me to take him to the hospital instead of calling an ambulance. Got stuck in the elevator when I came to visit due bad maintenance which made me worry even more. The list is endless, bottom line is the owners only care about what they can get financially, not the welfare of their residents.
