UPDATE:after updating their website with my insurance info, they billed me again. Going online I now see that they didn’t save my info. This place is to be avoided at all costs. I’m going to re enter everything then call them. Awful business that should be investigated.ORIGINAL:Went to a wakemed ER. Got a great summary statement from all their various parties with my insurance coverage correctly applied and very straightforward EXCEPT for this provider. This provider direct billed me instead, listing me as self insured, and it appears to be for something that is already on the hospital’s bill.Seems very fishy that they know my name, address and date of birth enough to bill me, which they had to get from the hospital, but somehow don’t have any of my insurance info.Another fishy element: their website has a quick pay option using your birth date but you need a special code to get in to see your full bill. In other words, they make it easier to pay than to see what you’re paying for. Red flag.I filled out my insurance info on their website and will see if they fix it now or keep billing me.

No calls, no notice, just a collection on my credit report. have never heard of them before. Must have been Wake Med.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Make sure you check with your insurance before your doctor, or hospital, sends your blood to be tested at this lab. It is my understanding that they do not partner any insurance carrier. They are not open about this; on their website there is no list of approved insurance companies and not email address either. Just a phone number that goes to their call center. It was a nightmare dealing with them after I had a procedure done.

Guessing WakeMed used them. Hoping to have a bill soon to explain why I had something sent to collections. No calls, no mail, no bills; just a collection notice. Prime example of a medical group failing to do their job and put it on the patient. Unfortunately, I will have to dispute a collection now, as I never pay an entity that doesn’t send a bill. I believe this group just needs a lesson on how billing usually works. Facility sends bill, patient pays bill. Guess I just don’t understand the difficulty.

We should have heeded the warnings. Their billing department is an abomination. They completely messed up our bills despite us pointing out the errors over and over. And then when they got tired of failing to fix it, they sent us to collections. Avoid this place at all costs, because those costs will be substantial.

Customer Service is very horrible. Had billing question on the received statement, tried calling their billing office for past few weeks but no one picked up the phone. Now approaching them through my insurance company.

Billing department entered our insurance incorrectly so bill didnt get paid. When I called to have them correct the insurance info, I spent 20 minutes on hold then the person told me they couldnt even find my account. Several months later I got a bill from collections! This department appears incompetent.

After reading the previous review I felt compelled to write one as well. I experienced the same billing bullying as the previous reviewer. My surgery was on 3/1 and now on 5/12 Im already receiving my 2nd notice of final bill. I received 3 separate bills, all for procedures on the same day, all with different account numbers. I called them in April (the day after I received my first bill) to advise I had contacted my insurance company to correct the issue and that it would be processed. Raleigh Pathology has not received payment as of 5/13. Insurance states they sent a large payment on 5/5, however it has to be distributed amongst the patients and that may have not been done yet. I told the nice lady at the call center that I did not appreciate the only 2nd notice of the bill already threatening after I called them and advised that insurance would be paying. I cant help how long it takes both ends to do their part. I understand that you need to be paid, however the patient is the one stuck in the middle. Might be nice to remember that.

No problems with the actual lab, but I was very disappointed in their billing process. I received a bill that was in error. I called the lab and talked to Brenda, then called the insurance company, and called the lab again and talked to Susan, and I thought they would fix it. A month later, I received what was only my 2nd bill, which said Final Notice. I called again and talked to Brenda again. She said they are only a call center and are not allowed to call out, and so they cant call the insurance company. So it is up to me to call the insurance company and to beg the insurance company to do something. I called the insurance company again (UMR), and the helpful lady there put me on hold while she called Raleigh Pathology. She was able to reach Susan and finally straightened it out. The aggravating hour on the phone trying to resolve this (including hold time) is sufficient reason to avoid this lab again. Im upset that Raleigh Pathology is willing to threaten to send my account to a collection agency to force me to pay, but they are not willing to actually make the effort to call the insurance company to try to figure out what the problem is. This pathology group needs to improve the business side of their operation.

Horrible, horrible billing service. Incorrect account information given and impossible to even log in online to pay bill.
