I cant say enough about Carolina Functional Neurology and all of the staff! Over the last year, they have helped me recover from symptoms of dysautonomia, hypothyroidism, and gut issues. From going in a couple times a week to going in now every couple months, Ive seen tremendous growth in my health and ability to do daily life. I used to take naps multiple times a day, left my job because it was too much for my health, and had an increasingly restrictive diet. Now Im working full time with energy to spare, have been working out again, am beginning to reintroduce foods, and more. Theyve never made me feel like Im crazy for what I am feeling, but rather empower me to take needed steps to get better. They really care about their patients and are brilliant in their knowledge of functional medicine!

Dr. Lauren Brindisi has been working with my mother for about three months, and her condition has been improving. She diagnosed her correctly (my mothers last doctor misdiagnosed her) so that the right treatment can be done. She put her on neurological rehab, and I can tell a big difference. My mothers issues involve migraines, trouble speaking, numbness in her body, and sometimes drooping face. My mother is becoming more mobile and feeling better. Im so grateful to have found Dr. Brindisi. I truly believe she will help my mother regain her life.

I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Brindisi and her staff. I came to Carolina Functional Neurology with POTS Dysautonomia symptoms which were somewhat debilitating. After intensive treatment for 3 days and lab work Dr. Brindisi was able to find the root cause of my symptoms. By day 2 of treatment I was able to take a shower without my shower seat for the first time in 3 years. I was totally in awe of how well this treatment worked for me and how well I responded to therapy. Dr. Brindisi and her staff truly care about their patients and they go above and beyond to make sure you are treated with the best care and not just another patient walking thought their doors. I was always greeted with a friendly smile and such up beat attitudes by everyone. I just can’t say enough about Carolina Functional Neurology!! I highly recommend them!

Dr. Brindisi is wonderful! When I first came to CFNC, I had a few neurological symptoms that were puzzling to me and my regular doctor. I was referred to CFNC to investigate both the neurological and metabolic symptoms I was having. After an in-depth appointment and additional bloodwork, Dr. Brindisi found a gluten intolerance that manifested as my symptoms. Mere months later after following her protocols and receiving treatment, my symptoms went away gradually. Im now symptom free! I have enjoyed working with her so much that she is also now my chiropractor! I highly recommend CFNC!

Let me start by saying that I am a pharmacist and I put most of my trust in traditional medicine. Ive struggled with headaches/migraines, vertigo, stomach issues, random pain, passing out, and heart rate and blood pressure issues since 2002. I have seen countless specialists, had more tests run than I can remember, and tried numerous prescription therapies. Some of my health issues I was able to get under control and others I was not. My main issue was extremely low blood pressure with high heart rate, daily fainting spells and daily headaches. I was diagnosed with New Daily Persistent Headaches, Chronic Migraines and Orthostatic Hypotension. In 2019 I started getting worse and no medication therapy was working (or the side effects were really bad and intolerable). I would leave work every day and head home straight to bed. I would spend almost every evening and all weekend laying down doing nothing. I am a very active person. I love doing yard work, crafts, cooking, baking, watching hockey, basically I loved to be up and doing things. By May 2019 I was pretty much bedbound after I got off work with very few good days to get up and do anything. I was being evaluated by DUKE for a CSF leak. In March 2020 I had the testing done that ruled out a CSF leak and was back to square one with no answers and no hope of help. By this time I was not driving more than 10 minutes from home due to my fainting issues and I was spending 85% of my day laying down. I was working from home at this point due to COVID so I was thankfully able to work laying down also.By June 2020 I had made up my mind to go to the Mayo clinic to get seen and get tested for everything. My treatment options locally had all failed. Then I stumbled upon CFNC on a Facebook post and as a last ditch effort I sent an email. Within a couple of weeks I had tests run that I had never heard of and found out a lot of things about my health and my body that I did not know. Dr. Brindisi laid out a plan to myself and my husband. It was a good bit of money and included nonconventional treatment plans I had never heard of so I was skeptical. After some intense urging from my husband and my family I went ahead with the treatment. In September I started my 6 week treatment plan. In the first 4 weeks I had improved so much that I was a different person. I went from basically being bedbound to up and doing yard work again. I was able to help my husband clear off some land at the end of October. I was doing crafts, cooking for the family, and cleaning my own house. I am now almost to the end of my second 6 week treatment and in the last 2 months I have only had 1 fainting episode, my heat rate no longer doubles when I stand up, I feel like a different person and I am able to enjoy my life. Now we are working on trying to find ways to help my headaches so that I can become unstoppable.I urge you to reach out for a consultation with Dr Brindisi. Dont put it off and wait like I did and miss out on life because of those long spans of time feeling horrible. Her entire staff is personable, professional and knowledgeable. To me and my family, she is a life saver. I know that things that are different from normal healthcare seem sketchy and that it may seem like a good chunk of money, but this is an investment in your health. This is an investment in your life. This is an investment in your future. Do this for yourself. You will not regret it.My mom is starting her treatment with Dr. Brindisi in February for Parkinsons and I cannot wait to see how much she improves.

Having been diagnosed with POTS back in 2018, I was shuffled around to multiple doctors and put on multiple medications to try and deal with my symptoms. As a mom of two young children and a full time partner in an architectural firm, I was constantly battling fatigue, debilitating tachycardia and a general spiral from the life I knew before my diagnosis. After yet another trip to the ER, I decided to look for better answers that would go beyond putting bandaids on my symptoms and help me treat the problem. Dr. Brindisi and the CFNC team have offered me immense hope (and empathy) as theyve developed a protocol designed specifically for my body. After a few months of intensive therapies, Ive seen vast improvements and am now completely unmedicated. I still have a ways to go, but I have never felt this optimistic about my health since my initial diagnosis and it is due in full to the expertise and care of CFNC.

I went to a lot of doctors that pushed me away and didn’t care enough to do proper testing but Dr. Brindisi cared and did all kinds of testing to tell me what was happening and why I was feeling the way I was. Dr. Brindisi has been amazing to work with and her therapy has tremendously helped our eight year old son in many ways. He has shown significant improvement in emotional regulation with much less frequent outbursts. His ability to de-escalate has also greatly improved, making outbursts that do occur short lived and less disruptive to his ability to function. Additionally, his handwriting and feelings about writing have improved drastically. This is a huge factor, making his whole attitude toward school much more positive. We have also seen a great improvement in his ability to interact socially in a healthy way, and he has started to develop much better friendships with other children. In addition to all of this he thoroughly enjoyed our visits and looked forward to them every week even though we were traveling from out of town. I highly recommend Carolina Functional Neurology Center!

Life changing. That sums up my experience with Dr. Brindsini.Prior to coming to Dr. Brindsinis clinic, I had been suffering for 9 months from debilitating cluster migraines that would last for up to 5 consecutive days. It was dramatically impacting my family, work and health. I sought out specialists throughout the area who kept prescribing medications, most of which didnt help and some which made the problem worse. All of them seemed focus on treating the symptom but not finding out what was causing the problem. I was so frustrated but was also scared that this was what the new normal would be for my life.In the FIRST SESSION, Dr. Brindsinin identified that I was suffering from an autonomic disorder and put together a plan for my treatment. No medications, just treatment! I started my treatments in February 2020 and as of May 20th 2020, I have NOT HAD A SINGLE MIGRAINE!!!! Many other symptoms I experienced, such as broken capillaries in my eyes and waking up feeling utterly exhausted, were eliminated once the problems with my autonomic system were addressed.Dr. Brindsini listens to her patients, is bright and inquistive, but most importantly is on the cutting edge of a new approach to medicine. My hope is that functional neurology will take root in our healthcare system and give people back their lives like Carolina Functional Neurology Center did for me.

It was a privilege to recieve support from Dr. Brindisi during my concussion recovery. I want to share my experience in detail for those who like lots of information. But if you just want the upshot - I am so glad I invested in this treatment as I believe it played a key role in helping me get my life back after spending 1.5 years suffering from life-altering post concussion symptoms. And now for the long version:My life had been disrupted by post-concussion syndrome for 1.5 years before meeting Dr. Brindisi (I had a bike accident in my 1st semester of grad school). My symptoms included extreme sensitivity to light and sound, feeling like i was on a boat any time i moved, frequent headaches, intense mental fatigue, andn probably lots of other symptoms that Ive forgotten about at this point!I consulted with Dr. Brindisi at the same time I was consulting with another doctor. Dr. Brindisi offered recommendations for a slow and steady recovery, and she was very straight with me that she could not promise full recovery but that she was hopeful that I could improve with her program. On the other hand, the other doc I was consulting with made grand statements about the efficicacy of his 1-week intensive program in Asheville and told me that he felt confident that we would see improvement in just a week of intensive treatment. Both options cost about the same, so I decided to pursue the intensive program in Asheville because - duh - I wanted to feel better ASAP! My grad school plans already been delayed due to this injury and I was desperate to just move on with my life! ....Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the results of the week long intensive in Asheville (I hardly noticed any change at all) ... I feel like I basically blew $5000 out of desperation. At this point, I was so discouraged, but also super super lucky to be offered more financial aid from family, so I contacted Dr Brindisi and pursued treatment with her. I saw her 1-2x per week for about 12 weeks, and I noticed little bits of improvement most weeks. By the end of the 12 weeks, those little bits of progress added up to significant quality-of-life improvements. Its been about45 months since therapy ended and I have continued to feel better and better! 🙌 I still struggle with symptoms, but theyre much less severe and I have WAY more insight into how to manage them thanks to Dr. Brindisis guidance. So, if you are trying to decide between an intensive program vs. a slow-and-steady program to treat your concussion, I highly recommend a slower program. Since theres no straight-forward path to concussion recovery, my 2+ year concussion recovery has involved SO much trial and error, and it was so so so valuable to see Dr Brindisi over an extended period of time so that i could try out her suggestions for a week or two, report back, trouble-shoot/adjust as needed, and build off of progress made in a safe and cautious manner. Dr. Brindisi was with me for the entirety of my sessions with her, answering all of my 10,000,000 questions very insightfully, and responding to my concerns with care and attention.I have no regrets about my decision to pursue treatment with Carolina Functional Neurology Center. This treatment was quite expensive since it wasnt covered by insurance, but the sacrifices I made and debt I accrued to be able to afford the treatment was worth it because I am finally feeling well again!I feel hopeful that I will fully recover one day.

The worst aspect in dealing with this kind of brain trauma was not being able to articulate what was wrong, but something was horribly wrong. Almost 2 years after a concussion and my health was not improving, it was deteriorating. The most obvious symptoms, and the ones explained to several other doctors to no avail, was that I simply couldn’t think & suffered from daily headaches and migraines on a weekly basis. Finally, thank the Lord and my chiropractor, Dr. Porter, I found Dr. Brindisi & Dr. Dane. After an intensive initial consultation, which included active listening to the questions asked during the exam, gentle responses and tons of tests, Dr. Brindisi had a game plan. I could tell an immediate difference after the first appt of brain therapy. That alone changed everything! It was horrible, feeling so lost, unable to function or think and everyone around me not really seeing anything as wrong. I was walking, talking, making dinner. It seemed like I was fine, but I wasn’t. If I was able to process at all, it was slow. I wouldn’t have even been able to write this review a few months ago. It was debilitating in every aspect of my life, but was mostly unseen and therefore my concerns were written off or ignored by other doctors. Only a few questions into the first interview and Dr. Brindisi was already explaining to me what was happening and how she could help.So very grateful for the work that Dr. Dana Brindisi has devoted herself to. I am so incredibly grateful to Dr Brindisi for helping my son get through one of the most difficult times of his life. Beginning in January he was waking up with daily morning migraines and could not get out of bed. He’s had headaches since he was about 10 or so and was under the care of a regular neurologist and taking their prescribed medications daily, but still got headaches sporadically. Beginning in January these headaches drastically worsened and he couldn’t function. The regular neurologist’s response was to increase all his medications, which worried me but they assured me it was ok. They also wouldn’t even consider that there was an underlying cause to these headaches, instead always telling me that he’d “ outgrow” them. I felt so helpless so I started looking for someone, anyone, that might be able to look further into what is causing these migraines. Thank God I found Dr. Brindisi. She was so kind and understanding on the phone before our initial consultation. During our first visit with her she found out what the problem was! The First Visit! She diagnosed him with POTS ( Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and with other lab tests also diagnosed him with adrenal fatigue and gluten sensitivity. With weekly vestibular rehabilitation , daily supplements, exercises at home and going gluten free he is finally back to being a normal, healthy teenager again. Its been a long and bumpy road in getting here but I can confidently say that it’s all because of Dr Brindisi and I can’t thank her enough.

Hello, my name is Julie Jones. I am a 50 year old stay at home mom and wife. I wanted to write a review of my experience with Dr. Dana Brindisi and her care for me. Ill start my story by saying I started experiencing what I thought was vertigo and headaches around my 40s. I went to see my PCP a few times mentioning that and was given meds to help with the dizziness I had, and managed to usually get better in a day or so. Then in Januray 2017 I was taking a Christmas wreath out of our boys bedroom window and made the mistake of trying to reach it by balancing on the bed and dresser (yep, I know..crazy idea) I lost my balance and fell straight back onto the corner of a night stand directly in the middle of the back of my head. Of course, that was pretty scary in itself..but I recovered so I thought. Then about 3 months after that happened, when laying down to bed one night the room started spinning..and I mean literally it felt like everything around me was spinning. And that was the beginning of a nightmare for me. For the next several months it progressively got worse, to the point where my spinning and headaches made it extremely hard to function. I basically did NOTHING for a solid 3 months. I did see my PCP and she referred me to a neurologist. I saw him right away and he said he thought I was suffering from a post cranial concussion with some vestibular issues as well.. and he put me on a medication that he thought may help with the dizziness and headaches. It seemed to work fairly well, at least to the point where I could regain some of the things I normally do. I stayed on meds for 3 months and then he wanted to taper me off to see how I did, and I did do fairly well again for a couple months.. Then one night when laying down on that very same right side ..it all came back..BOOMING AND VERY PAINFUL HEADACHES AND SPINNING and a new symptom appeared .. a racing heart rate and my BP went up as well.. I went back to my neuro doc and he wanted to try me on meds again, but this time it didnt work at all. I went back and he started me on new meds, and that night I thought my heart would pound out of my chest. It was truly one of the most debilitating and scary times I have ever experienced, (and mind you, I have given birth to 4 children) and geez...thats a lot..but this was worse than any pain I had ever had. It felt like I was going to be stuck like this for the rest of my life. One morning my daughter told me she had been searching the web for ideas to try and help my situation and she came across a place she thought might be helpful for me. So of course I called and spoke with Dr. Brindisi. She was so encouraging and so very nice to me. She seemed to have true compassion for what I had been going through. We set up a consult the very next week. She discovered that I had a right side brain stem injury from the concussion. She explained everything in a lay person way for me to understand what had been happening inside my brain. When she told me she thought she could help me, I just cried. The next week.. Brain Camp began. Not gonna lie, it was tough the first few days. I was skeptical...but hopeful at the same time. And YES, after the 3rd day with her I ACTUALLY started to feel better. The dizziness had lessened and the headaches were basically gone. After our week together, I felt atleast 80% back to my normal self. It has been 3 months now since Brain Camp and I have only had a few days of feeling a bit off..but NOTHING like what I had been experiencing. I faithfully do my 4 home excersises EVERY SINGLE DAY...even if I DONT feel like it or want to. It works .. She knows what shes taking about, and I TRUST her FULLY. She has CHANGED MY LIFE AND I AM ABLE TO FUNCTION AGAIN. In closing.. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Brindisi to anyone that is suffering from symptoms like I had. She also helps with people who suffer from many other types of issues/symptoms as well. Thank you Dr. Brindisi. You are and will always be A VERY SPECIAL PERSON TO ME.God BlessJulie Jones

When I changed positions ie stood up from a reclined position or laying flat everything would start spinning and begin to go black and I would pass out cold.Dr Brindisi discovered that my heart rate was spiking 40 points when I was getting up, At the same time, my blood pressure was crashing. She also uncovered several problems with how my eyes were reacting to visual stimulation and worked to resolve those problems as well.I suffered constant, severe headaches as well as feeling dizzy and slightly nauseous all of the time. Many nights I was barely able to watch tv or have hardly any lights on around me.Within one week, I felt significantly better. My headaches are entirely gone and I rarely feel dizzy or nauseous anymore. We have re-trained my eyes to function properly.I can not praise Dr Brindisi highly enough. This was the most miserable time I had ever experienced physically. No other doctor was even looking at my symptoms from this perspective or testing to identify the underlying problems. I was given medications and told to rest. I would still be suffering with no hope of relief if not for Dr. B.

I have had the privilege of hearing Dr. Brindisi speak twice now and each time I was blown away. She has always made time to answer all of my questions and will continue to be a resource when it comes to the health of me and my family.
