Ms. Sharon is rude. She talks about residents to other staff, is not confidential about resident business and gives a nasty attitude. She is one of the workers who is in charge of everything too.

Brought a friends nephew to seek shelter at Covenant House and the reception was great. The programme here is good for troubled youth. They also provide counseling, educational, medical services, etc.

A steppin stone like no otha. As they will be quick to remind you, its not a station house or a mission. Its a transitional housin program for teens to young adults. They service anyone from 16-21 without a home. Im a former resident here, I was 21 with nowhere to go. All of the resources will help you land on your feet. If you are actually able to obtain a bed here, you will be happy you did. You must go thru a week long process of computer literacy to complete lessons before u can get bus fare. Thereafter, you can get tokens to go about the city to find a job. Once you do, you must relinquish 75% of each paycheck to deposit into your file. This is to save money that you can receive back once you no longer wish to be a resident. It helped me save $500 to rent my first room. Dont know where Id be today without it. Not a place where you encounter dirty n uninspired individuals of all ages with careless workers. Its where young individuals can have a safe place to store their things & have somewhere to sleep until their situation turns around. I loved it

Although this is a safe place for the youth.. Some of the staff are rude. It’s really really easy to get discharged. They really only help people with children to get FAST housing. They have no medical staff available after 3pm. And the bathrooms are DIRTY !!

This is a well meaning institution with the capability to do a lot of good, but the amount of good it can do is severely undermined by the behavior of specific staff members, most notably Ms. Denise. She has a reputation with the residents of going out of her way to provoke discharges and causing needless antagonism, to the point of causing an autistic resident to have an extreme panic attack. She escalated this panic attack by being physically and verbally aggressive and discharged the resident for panicking, calling in paramedics to hospitalize and conduct a psych evaluation on the mentally ill adolescent whose breakdown she escalated—seemingly deliberately. The shelter’s mission of providing help to disadvantaged and homeless minority youth is not achievable with a staff member like this in their employ, as any good they do could just as easily be undone. She is at best, ableist, and at worst, malicious. Residents should never fear being made homeless again because of antagonistic staff members, and as such I cannot give a positive review.

For anyone seeking shelter ages 18-21, the covenant house is a wonderful place to get your life back on track. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You just have to want it.

Great place for homeless teens. the standards are high. They try to find them permanent placement in places like Job Corps something before they let them go, so its not just the flophouse but a comprehensive program. They take kids up to the age of 21.

They do great work for the homeless youth by setting them up with interview training, resume reviews, and lending them secondhand interview clothes so that the youth can go out and get real jobs for themselves. The staff are strict but caring, as you need to be to run a place like this. They host sleepouts where people can come and learn about their mission and hear some youth speak. I highly recommend attending one.
